A selection of their many flavorful options
Matt P.

This Top Pot location was right around the corner from my hotel so I walked over one morning. Make sure you sign up with their app because it will give you 5 free mini donuts. With so many flavorful options, it was tough to choose. The apple fritter was a standout, as were those with the maple frosting. These really hit the spot and with an easy to navigate location, friendly staff, and good selection, I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

Donuts!

The old fashioned line of donuts are fantastic. They have several flavors. I had the maple one which was excellent, my wife and I shared a sea salt, caramel one, and then I got her a double chocolate regular doughnut. I also had a latte which was excellent. Quick service. Cool bookstore interior.

There's an artisanal doughnut movement brewing in Seattle, a city of neighborhoods, and this establishment is leading the way. Named from a sign that the founders rescued from an old, boarded-up Chinese restaurant, but the "s" fell off during the restoration process. Voilà, Top Pot was born. My partner, his family, our friends, and I stumbled upon it here last Saturday, located on 5th Avenue, a block from our hotel bordering the Central Business District and Belltown during our visit. Upon arrival as first-timers, huge shelves containing encyclopedia volumes lined the walls with a library vibe, while a glorious window spanned the entire entrance on two levels of seating. They are all about the doughnuts; approx. forty varieties are made from scratch on site. The pastries looked amazing & overwhelmingly decadent. We had ordered a variety of assorted doughnuts, including Valley Girl Lemon and Apple Fritter. The doughnut's texture wasn't particularly light, but it had a pleasing chew that we found very satisfying that put a big smile on everyone's face. The staff was welcoming, the ambiance warm and inviting. Overall a great experience and would recommend for locals and visitors.

We love Top Pot Doughnuts and visit when we're in Seattle. There's a vast selection (more than 40 daily) and the staff is always patient while we try to decide what to have. I like that they usually have more than one type of cinnamon donut (my favorite). What kind of donuts do they have? Fritters, raised, crullers, long johns, monthly specials. We visited on the first of June, so I got to try one of the June specials, the raspberry lemonade cruller--yum! And, they have coffees to go with your donuts. The line, if there is one, goes quickly. Take your selections upstairs like we do and enjoy your treats with a view of the street and patrons entering and exiting. We'll be back for more on our next trip to the Emerald City.

Terrible donuts sadly

The donuts were dry and hard. The service was great, but it was a terrible experience because the donuts were just very, very old or that's just how they make them. We got a creuller and a cake doughnut and a regular doughnut and all three of them weren't that good at all. They have a very nice little restaurant and the coffee was just OK too so I wouldn't choose to go here again.

The space welcomes you to take your beverage and pastry of choice and sit a while. You are also invited to take a book off the numerous floor to ceiling book shelves to escape in the pages of discovery. The service was fast, but grab your patience as the baristas are a little slow especially with an influx of people. I ordered the pershing which is like a cinnamon bun and hot chocolate. Since I decided to dine in, I would have expected that my pershing would have been served warm; unfortunately, it was not. In fact, it was cold, very cold, but it tasted pretty good so I would have to caution that of you are not a fan of cold doughnuts then you may want to bypass this place. Overall, it is a quaint coffee shop that is local and that creates a recommendation for you to at least give it a try.

Top Pot Donuts is definitely a favorite! We went here on our first trip to Seattle and had to come back again. The aesthetics inside are so great, and there's plenty of seating. Their coffee and drink selection, along with all the donuts, is sure to please anyone. It's always a fun place to sit down, relax, charge up your phone, enjoy a donut and drink, and just take in the aesthetics of the place. Such a fun stop when visiting Seattle!

Top Pot is a very cool and cozy doughnut shop in the Denny Triangle area of Downtown Seattle. Top Pot is serving up more traditional-style donuts (doughnuts? Why does each place spell it differently?) I loved the library vibes and large space here. I ended up just grabbing a traditional old-fashioned on the cashier's recommendation. It was great. I liked that Top Pot just felt simple, and the donut was good without any fancy frills. Compared to some other bakeries and donut shops I visited in Seattle, Top Pot offered that lowkey, 2000's nostalgia vibe that is unbeatable. Nothing to it. Thanks, Top Pot!

Love top pot! My favorite doughnut shop in Seattle. The service is good, and the vibes inside are good for a doughnut shop :) would definitely come back to work/sit here. Tried the Easter donut this time - was very good!

Cinnamon sugar raised donut and the Matcha Latte

Lovely space with plenty of seats. Tried the cinnamon sugar raised donut and the lemon glazed old fashioned. The raised donut was on the dense side and very tasty. The lemon old fashioned was also good. I would love to visit here again.

I have been waiting to come back to Top Pot doughnuts since 2018. I can confirm it didn't disappoint! We had a banana foster fritter that was so flavorful and filling and a chocolate bar. My favorite thing about this location are the glass windows and all the books. It's such a calming place to start your morning before a full day out. Staff had great coffee recs and I can't wait to come back again!

Solid donuts in Seattle. Friendly staff and lots of different options. Lemon glazed old fashioned was perfect. Raised donut was nice and fluffy. Will come again

I've been a fan of Top Pot for years. I haven't been here for more than 5 years though since I stopped working downtown. I had a Sugared Raspberry Donut. It's so light. I love how the raspberry jam counters the sweetness of the donut. It's very light. It's perfect with a hot cup of coffee. Love this cafe on 5th Avenue. It's very airy, with a nice loft. Love the look of the floor to ceiling shelves filled with books. Music is nice, not too loud. Service is friendly.

Ask the Community - Top Pot Doughnuts

Any gf doughnuts?

their website says their donuts contain gluten. I have not seen a gluten free option at Top Pot.

Any vegan options here?

Sadly seems not at least in terms of doughnuts. Of course you could get a latte with non dairy milk but avoid the mocha due to the dairy in its mix

How much is a maple bar?

Don't recall. Maybe 2.50. But whatever it is...was worth it!

What donut should I get the next time I go to Top Pot in Seattle? I ask this because I am searching for the best donuts in America.

The flavors change often, they have standard glaze, and cake donuts. I had a sugar raised berry flavored donut, I forgot the name as it was a 'themed' option. All I recall was it was too sweet and not memorable.

Nut allergy friendly! Vegan and nut free on everything. Amazing. I had to try it…read more I saw this cute spot on inKind after walking by it during several Seattle visits and finally decided to stop in after reading another review that mentioned that they are nut-free. Spoiler: Absolutely no regrets, I wish I had visited earlier! I ordered a six pack with a variety of their donuts and shared them with four friends, having a bit of each. I'm glad we did it this way because I don't think I could have finished some of these donuts solo. I also had a seasonal rose latte at half sweetness which was decent, but very wholesomely came with a little donut hole that was pretty good. I will say, they nailed all the flavors. If you like the flavor, probably a 4/5 donut overall. They just weren't always my cup of tea. So the scores here are for personal enjoyment more than anything - like I said, they're solid donuts. Sour Watermelon (2/5): Holy smokes, this one felt like it was punching your taste buds. It's almost confusing on how this is in a donut form. It's more like a sour patch kid. It's intense. I don't think I could solo one. Mango Tajin (3/5): Similar to the sour Watermelon, it's perplexing how this is a donut. It was a bit spicy and tangy, just as the flavor implied. Cookies & Cream (3.5/5): Get ready to get messy. It's crumbly. It's sweet. It's more like a normal donut. Matcha Strawberry (4.5/5): My favorite of the weird flavors of donuts. They really aced the matcha flavor and it's well balanced for a donut. Blueberry Fritter (2.5/5): This was pretty hyped up, but honestly I felt like the blueberry flavor was overpowered just by the sheer amount of sugar. Texture was good, it just felt so sweet. Overall, I'd definitely recommend for a fun experience. Share some different flavors! Paid via inKind with no issues.

Mighty-O Donuts seems to be one of the few vegan donut shops that actually tries to make yeast…read moredonuts - most places are cake only. We decided to drop by after eating lunch in the area for a sweet treat afterwards, then ended up picking up a whole dozen... Some notes for a couple that I tried: Maple Bar ($4.99) - Hmm.. Not that fluffy or light. Instead or being airy, it's more dense and has a kind of springy chew. The glaze is sweet and gives off a heavy maple fragrance, an indication they use real maple syrup in the glaze. Maple bars from other places are usually disgustingly sweet with basically no maple flavor - this one is sweet but more well balanced. I think the texture is definitely different from a typical yeast donut. I wonder if it's just because it more difficult to make vegan yeast donuts vs cake donuts? It's a different type of yeast donut, but still very good. (4/5) Chocolate Peanut Butter ($4.45) - Good peanut butter flavor in both the topping and glaze. I think the donut base is also peanut butter but it could be contamination from the glaze. The base isn't very sweet and is kind of almost savory in flavor. The donut is dense but not crumbly and instead very moist. Not really crusty, so not too much textural difference. I think it's baked rather than fried. Still very sweet. (4/5) Devils Playground ($4.45) - The donut base is dense with rich chocolate flavor, and coated with a chocolate ganache of just the right thickness. I hate it when donuts just have a smear of topping to make the donut look attractive, but does barely anything flavor wise. This one, on the other hand, is richly flavored. (4/5) Chocolate Raspberry ($3.65) - This is my favorite, same chocolate cake donut base as above but with bright berry notes and specks of seeds. The tangy berries do wonders to temper down some of the sweetness. (5/5) French Toast ($3.65) - My least favorite by far. Covered with peanuts (which is fine), but the cake donut base or perhaps the glaze tastes heavily earthy, like an overload of cinnamon and nutmeg. (2/5) People who expect the exact same texture as a non-vegan donut, both the cake and yeast types, will probably be disappointed. If I just think of these donuts as their own thing, they're actually quite good. There's another donut shop that I prefer down the street, but Mighty-O Donuts certainly isn't a bad choice for a sweet treat.

I tried the passionfruit creme brulee donut, and though a bit pricey ($6), it was worth the money. The top of the donut had that perfect creme brulee torched top, and the passion fruit inside was perfectly tangy, which offset the fattiness from the donut itself. It wasn't very sweet, but I kinda liked that. The other flavors on the menu also looked great. I hear they rotate their menu often. There is nowhere to sit here, so be prepared to take your donuts to go. The shop does sell some beverages, like water or milk, to help you get in the donut mood. The service on my visit was fine. This location is a very short walk from the Seattle Convention Center. Everything looked decadent and over the top, to the point where I wasn't sure that anything looked truly appealing beyond the simple things like the Homer or maple bar, until my eyes landed on the banana cream pie. I'm a *fiend* for anything banana/banana flavored, so my mind was instantly made up. And it was outstandingly good. The banana cream was perfection, the cinnamon on the Voonilla Cream was a nice spicy touch, and the banana chip on top added a little crunch to the overall softness of the donut. This was truly the most delicious donut I've ever had and I wish so much there was something comparable nearby in the Bay Area (maybe there is and I just haven't found it yet). But if it wasn't for the banana cream pie, I feel like there wouldn't have been a ton of options that looked good at Voodoo. There were some others I would've been happy to try, but the assortment felt very overhyped for all of the praise I've heard of Voodoo. But I can't really complain too much when all I'd need here is the banana cream pie anyway. Hope they never stop making it.
