One of my New Year's resolutions (for the last 17 New Years) has been to stop biting my nails. Ugh. I just cannot stop. I'm fully aware of how gross and dumb and unhygienic blah blah blah it is to bite your nails. Duh. So I'm disgusting, but I really do want to change. After an Elite event where I had my sad little no-nails painted, I realized that it's fun to have nicer looking nails. I even stopped myself from biting them a bit because I didn't want to mess them up. So I decided to take it to the next level and get a full set of acrylic nails with gel nail polish. Very hard to bite through, and pretty enough to make me way more aware of my bad habit! I decided to visit Top Nails because they had decent low-ish prices ($20 for a full set with plain polish, an extra $10 for the gel polish). Plus this place is close to my house. They took me as a walk-in and my nail tech was extremely nice and warm and funny. He gave me some tips for treating my mangled cuticles (baby oil for softening and making it hard to pick at/bite hangnails), and he was gentle with my sad, sore fingers. I mean there's a lot of scary sounding filing going on with several different filing tools. It's like being at the dentist for your fingernails. Terrifying. But my nail dude seemed to sense my anxiety and made me super comfortable. Plus he did a really great job with my new nails. They're still longer than I wanted them to be (I wanted them to look as natural as possible), but he said any shorter and they'd look like "baby nails." Hahah. So I went with it and I'm happy. The salon itself is nothing fancy. It's not like a warmly lit relaxing spa. We're talking fluorescent lights, chemical-y scents, and a couple of TVs playing talk shows. Cluttered but clean. I wasn't offered anything to drink which I suppose I assumed would happen, but oh well. All in all it was affordable and my fake little nails make me happy. read more

I've tried and I'm done. I've been going to this nail salon for several years with my mom. Sometimes they have good days, but most of the times I've been there were bad. I got a dip powder coffin-shaped manicure and my eyebrows waxed. I really like how the nail technician, Tina, did my nails. My nails are a little bumpy, but I do like the color and the even shape. But my brows. Oh my goodness I am livid. Tina did my brows as well, and when I asked her if she was going to or if she was setting up she said, "I will try my best." That was a huge red flag to where I should've just waited to get my eyebrows done elsewhere, but nope. The shape of my eyebrows are beautiful, but oh my goodness she burned me and ripped my skin off and when I said that I felt a burning sensation she said, "Oh, your skin burns easily." What?! I replied back, "No it doesn't." Of course it's going to burn a person's skin and rip their skin if you keep the wax on there for like 15 seconds while it's burning hot! It's so painful to the touch and I can't put makeup on or wash my face properly because of the burns and ripped skin. The picture I have attached is of my eyebrow, and honestly it looks so much worse in person. This also isn't the first time this has happened at this salon, this is the third. I came in here for a full set and pedicure. It was a Friday evening and There was really no wait time. I was seated immediately. The ambiance was nice, and the shop looked fairly clean, so that's a plus. The man at the desk asked me what I wanted then asked how long I wanted my nails. I said, "Medium coffin shape, not too long." I thought him asking would mean he would relay that information to my nail tech, but I guess not. The nail tech started on my hands as I was getting my toes done. I don't always prefer that, but it's efficient so whatever. The lady asked me how long I wanted my nails before she cut them and I said fairly short. She then said "No, coffin look better long." I asked her to cut them down some more and she said when she files them, they'll be shorter. Cool. I'm sitting at her station and she begins filing. For a THIRD TIME in my visit, I ask this woman to make my nails shorter. She files them only to her desired length. I'm frustrated at this point, but she has already started painting. HERE IS WHERE IT GETS CRAZY. I walk to the front and I'm ready to check-out. Not 100% satisfied with my nails--they're too long, sloppy application and this lady disregarded everything I said to her. When the man (same man who was standing there when I walked in) gave me my total, he said $60. I look at the price list which states $25 for the pedicure, and $25 for the full set. I ask him where the additional $10 came from. The lady who was doing my nails came up and said it's for the length. I SWEAR IF I HAD NO HOME TRAINING I WOULD'VE PUNCHED THIS WOMAN IN HER FACE. Like are you seriously going to charge me something I REPEATEDLY DID NOT ASK FOR? I explained it the man that even when I walked in, I did not want long nails and I told her several times to make them shorter and she didn't listen. I sucked it up because I didn't want to be that person going off in a nail salon, but mannnnnnnnn. Please, please, please go elsewhere. Then she had the audacity to stand there watching me fill out my receipt for her tip. Not today, lady. I hope the power of my words go far because I was livid. If an establishment really does that to their customers--BLINDLY upcharge them and not care about their requests--that's not the type of establishment I want to keep returning to. I called before arriving to confirm that they were able to do a full set and a FULL SERVICE SPA PEDICURE (this will be important later). My nails came out uneven. Okay; whatever, it happens and I don't typically complain. The tech kept trying to upsell me on gel for my toes 3-4 times after I explicitly said I just want standard polish and had a color already picked out. Then, it's time for the "pedicure". She has me sit up in the chair and immediately starts clipping my toes and putting polish on. I thought, that's kinda weird because usually they do the foot care first. Nope, no foot care. No cuticle care. No soak. No lotion. I had confirmed with the tech twice that I wanted a pedicure, a spa pedicure. I asked the manager, he said maybe it's a miscommunication. Talk about adding insult to injury. I can assure you I won't be returning to this salon anytime in the future. After spending over 3 hours on Friday morning in their salon and leaving with a mediocre pedicure and a beauty school dip set I was assured if I returned on Monday morning it would be corrected. Meanwhile I still gave them a chance on Saturdat by way of an eyelash appointment. I was given an appt for 10:30 am Monday only to get a call at 10:28 on Monday as I'm pulling into the lot that he wouldn't be in until 3:30. But ok! I also schedule a pedicure for my daughter at 3:30 as well and plan to go there to get serviced. Upon arrival Broke (the owner) tells me to sit in his chair and I do. He then drills off the top coat, files them with a nail file and buffs them with a foam buffer and says wash my hands. I then inform him that I was not satisfied and he could simply remove them and do another set bc atp I've wasted time and money. True to form he refused but did waste the next 45 min attempting to refund me and have me soak off my nails that were already messed up (Could have kept the money and done them correctly). Thank God I was able to make an appt at another local salon that I trust But BROKE BAD BUSINESS. Now I know why I've never stopped even tho they are up the street. read more

I moved into this area and this nail salon was the first one I tried. I went several times for both dip nails and pedicures. The quality of work was always good, however the guy at the front counter always looks annoyed if you ask for a drink or anything. He rarely offers and never smiles. He looks like he hates his job. I don't want to go to a place and spend a lot of money every 2-3 weeks to feel like I am an inconvenience to them. I expect good customer service and to feel pampered while I am there. $270 later I quit this experiment!! They go through the motions, but do NOT know nails. i tried them 3x's now (mani & deluxe pedi) BOTH times they injured me. The nail tech grated my skin until i bled ("hey that's my bone not a callus"). I couldn't wear closed toe shoes for a week. Got another tech next time (Spring), Showed her my injuries, asked her to be careful. She cut my cuticles and surrounding skin until it bled trying to get a polish off my skin - WhAt is it with these people and drawing blood?? i am new to the area. The place looks nice, good selection of services but priced $$$ slightly higher than average for LESS than average service! BUYER BE WARE! They want the upsell and DO NOT CARE about your nail health. I came here to get my nails done for my birthday. I was persuaded to get dip powder instead of acrylic because it was "stronger". Three days and the damn things are already breaking. Now they are going to charge me to fix structurally weak nails. I hate to leave bad reviews but poor customer service really gets me. The owner\manager was rude when I got there. Had to yell for a pedicurist like 3 times. Then just shooed me to the back. My nail tech stopped mid pedicure to send a five minute text. Super unprofessional. The unused foot baths were dirty and there were a few fruit flys buzzing around which was just annoying. I can't even give them one star. They did the worst set of nails I have ever had in my entire life. My four year old could have done a better job than, Kevin, the nail tech, if that's what you want to call him. The powder was bright pink when it was supposed to be a baby pink. The pink/white acrylic was not blended and splotchy. The nails were lumpy and there was a definite ridge where the pink/white was suppose to blend together. They had to be painted a dark color as to cover the terrible ombre job that was done. And that wasnt even done right. There was polish on my cuticle and was underneath the nails. This place is terrible! I went here when I first moved to the area and they were going through a remodel and I got a manicure with gel (shellac) nail polish, well my nails looked terrible and super lumpy but I figured it was just maybe the craziness they were going through well last Thursday before I went out of town I went to get a mani and pedi and I found a hand nail polish color (shellac/gel) I wanted but I wanted a different color on my feet the technician argued with me for 5 mins on how they have the matching nail color and I told I didn't want that color on my toes I was looking for a dark red/Black cherry for my toes she told me those are the only polishes they have (the ones in a bin) I said you guys don't have regular nail polish she said no! So I got up and found the rack of nail polish myself and found the color no problem. My pedi was ok not really too relaxing she slightly cut one of toe nails too short cutting skin but not a huge deal. My mani however was the MOST TERRIBLE mani I've ever had! First the color I choose was like a very light baby pink similar to the one Meghan Markle wore very pretty very classy. Well apparently the technician didn't realize that the color was too light to be placed directly on nails without a nude base color to make it show up so after 3 coats, the color was ok but suppppeeerrr uneven! It looked so streaky and she thought that this was ok and said ok do you like the color and normally I don't say anything because I get it! It's not going to look prefect however this was a hot mess!! A lumpy, streaky, uneven mess! And I told her no I don't like it, it's terrible and I would like the color fixed and that maybe she could try a base color first and she refused saying that adding that to the top wouldn't do anything and I explained no on the bottom and she stated that the color was already on and that all she could do is add glitter to take away from the unevenness and streakiness of the color! OMGOSH! At this point I'm so upset I don't want to argue I leave on vacation in less than 24hrs I just want to go home so I let her add the glitter turning my Meghan Markle mani to a my little pony mess! Ugh so disastrous I paid and left and to top things off my mani doesn't last the weekend in total I paid over $60 for a service that was terrible and didn't last 5 days I DO NOT recommend this place at all not even in a bind! read more
