I replied, "Well, that's just the cost of doing business," intending to acknowledge the situation with understanding. However, she suddenly became defensive, saying, "You do not speak to me that way or mistreat my staff." This took me by surprise, as the entire exchange had lasted less than two minutes, and I had been polite. Not wanting to escalate the situation, I simply left. It was a bizarre encounter, and I hope she approaches future interactions with more positive intent. I would have happily rescheduled or even paid a late fee if that was the policy. I'm not sure what was going on, but I hope she finds a way to manage her stress more constructively
