I had known Nikki in mutual friend/family groups at an arms length, but had resisted going to her for hair services because I didn't want there to be any weirdness since I'm a sporadic customer, not a solid regular. I developed some new curls and waves after a lifetime of straight hair. I was at a loss on how to handle it. I slight recommendations for a someone who had experience with this type of hair. Her name was consistently brought up. Okay, fine. I knew she was funny so at least I could get to know her a bit. She put me at ease as I was afraid to do a curly cut (not all stylists are good at them, or understand them). She disarmed me and listened, and seemed to understand every point and fear I presented. Needless to say, I was thrilled to not have life turned upside down from a silly haircut, which it could have been! () She was fantastic both in her experience/talent as a stylist and also as someone to work with and has enough experience that you can't really throw her from her focus. I am looking forward to another visit and to enjoy not just a haircut but also some laughs because of her fantastic personality (charming, funny)! I was scheduled to get a cut but was told once I got there that I had booked a "Diva cut" which meant I had to come in with my hair freshly washed & already styled before they would cut it. Make another appt was the only option I was given. That's terrible customer service. read more

After moving here not to long ago I've been having trouble finding a great hairstylist that understands what I want from a hair cut. And Nicole from the loft totally rocked it! I had made a last minute appointment because I was growing a mullet and I absolutely hated it. The receptionist was super sweet and smiley right when I came in! It made the atmosphere more lively! I did have to wait a good 10 minutes before Nicole let me have the honor of sitting in her chair! We chatted a little bit about what I wanted. Just a simple bob and to cut off the dead ends of my layers! She sat me down to wash my hair and that was the best 20 minutes of my life. That head massage had me falling asleep! My wedding was held in Black Diamond and I was having difficulty finding anyone willing to travel all the way out there, so I turned to local options. After feeling burned at a different semi-local salon The Loft was my last hope before I'd have to resort to hiring a traveling stylist through a specialty agency. The salon itself is in a little strip mall that looks fairly new and is only maybe half-full, so there was plenty of parking. It's 2 stories (or maybe technically 1-and-a-half) with most of the working space upstairs so you will need to be able to get up stairs to get most of their services. I only saw 4 stations plus I think 2 maybe 3 washing stations so you would probably have a hard time trying to do a huge wedding party all at once here. I was only having my sister also get her hair done so it wasn't an issue for me. I did a test run with I believe it was Claire a few months before the big day and even though I only vaguely knew what I wanted she was happy to do multiple quick mock-ups of styles for me to get a better idea of what would work best with the flower crown I'd be wearing and how long styling would take day-of. This included working with a fake flower crown I'd brought in for test purposes, which helped determine what style I wanted but also made things a little trickier since it wasn't going to be exactly the same. She also seemed more knowledgeable than other stylists I've dealt with over the years about working with my hair type which is thick and curly. I opted not to do a more complicated updo and went a bit simpler with a low, braided bun to better fit with the flower crown I'd be wearing. On the big day I arrived and we got to work right on time. My hair only took about an hour including them working the flower crown into it. She also did my sister's hair which amusingly enough took longer than my own as it's both longer and curlier. After we were both finished we left for more pre-ceremony prep and then afterward partied long into the night. I can happily say my hair looked great all day and not once was I worried about my flower crown falling off, it was locked in tight but never so tight as to be uncomfortable or pokey. I'm very happy I went with them for my big day after all the headache I'd found elsewhere and if they weren't so far from home I'd definitely be seeing them more often for regular maintenance. read more

Everyone was nice and the haircut for my toddler turned out well. However, I was shocked at the price when I went to check out. I had called ahead of time and asked for pricing for a kids haircut and was told somewhere in the range of $28-$40. But I was charged $65. I asked the person checking me out if that was correct because I was told it was less, and she said that curly hair costs most and they raised their prices. The haircut took a total of 8 minutes. So the hair stylist is charging...$400/hour?? That just seems nuts to me, even though I do like the haircut. read more

A few months ago I decided to try The Loft, as I'd had a bad experience at my usual hair place. That one visit was enough for me, and I'm now back at my original hair salon. The most disappointing thing for me was how incredibly unprofessional the stylists were. Even though I was a first time client, they sat and gossiped with each other for the entire time I was there (a couple hours.) I got so bored I had to ask for reading material, which was brought to me. However I was otherwise ignored. I asked my stylist for an all over color to mask my previous color, and even though I ended up looking the same afterward she expected me to pay full price. After I expressed disappointment, I did get a toner put over it, but left underwhelmed anyways. I would have gone back again if the women weren't so unfriendly and into themselves. read more

Very nice salon and everyone is very friendly. Seemed like all the other clients I saw there are long time clients, which says a lot. Nikki is a doll and did a nice job. My grays are very hard to cover and she told me to watch them for a few days and come back if they weren't covered to my satisfaction. read more
