During the holidays my ancient pool pump finally quit on me. I called a couple pool service…read morecompanies but all were closed until after the new year. In a desperate attempt I checked Next Door for suggestions and came across Alladin Pool Services. Mark from Alladin promptly returned my call and scheduled a visit to confirm my suspicion. Shortly after he sent a technician to replace the old pump with a new variable speed pump. The install was quick and painless and they left my backyard clean. They also took the time to make sure I understood the features and operations of the new unit. Thank you Alladin!

First of all, I want to make it clear that I never had a problem with Mark's employees in the five…read moreyears I used their company. The weekly pool service was always perfectly fine. So why am I giving the company one star? Because the owner tried to rip me off, and that's unforgivable. I asked Mark to have his guy take a look at my pool pump as it was making a noise that was getting worse. He said he'd come take a look himself. After coming out, he told me that my pump needed to be replaced and that the cost would be $2,950. That sounded rather pricey to me, so I started doing some research. It didn't take long to figure out that if I needed a new pump, I could get one, with installation, for about $1,800. But it gets better. Once I took the pump to an honest repair shop (Callen Pool Supply in Rancho, Scott is amazing!) it turned out the entire problem was a $25 seal that had worn out. The seal was replaced and the pump runs better than ever. At this point I called Mark once again to ask him if he was CERTAIN that my pump needed to be replaced. He said "yes, it does." I explained to him that I had repaired it for $25. He expressed ZERO remorse for trying to get me to give him $3K. None. He had the nerve to act like he had done nothing wrong at all. Needless to say that at that point I informed him I would no longer be needing his services. In addition, he also had the nerve to bill me $150 for coming out here and opening up the pump. Steer clear of this guy. He's also not capable of/unwilling to set up an auto pay. Wants me to hand over a check every month like it's 1995. There are so many better choices out there. My new guy actually charges less, and knows how auto pay works. Crazy.

And then found pics of him online at a casino. Stay far away. He will lie about going through a bad breakup, how someone hit him with a baseball bat, how people stole money from him. Don't make the same mistake we did. He is a total scam.

He'd occasionally show up at odd hours, but living near Placerville I knew it was a long trip out here. He would request I prepay for some supplies but I could appreciate he's a small business. A few weeks ago, I prepaid him $600 and he didn't show up. He eventually texted an apology and we then agreed to another date. I have never heard from him since that confirmation. Recently, I have discovered reviews confirming that this is not unusual for Scotty. I've also seen his replies about being surprised by those reviews. I'm writing this three days after texting him that I was planning to write this, so it's no surprise to him. I'm most annoyed that his last prepayment request said that I should know that he's good for it from my past experience with him . He's a small time crook willing to spend a little time getting you ready for the hit.

He was super friendly and was coincidentally already servicing the house we were purchasing so he was familiar with the pool. The work he said needed to be done matched what our inspector suggested. Mike confirmed we needed a new pump and quoted the same price our inspector estimated. This shows his pricing was reasonable and upcharge was minimal. Mike also said we needed a new pool sweep (which we desperately did) and told me the least expensive place to get it. I purchased that and he installed it at no charge. Being a first time pool-owner I had many questions and Mike always responded to my texts and calls. He also helped find us a great company to install solar panels for our pool! A few weeks after we moved in we purchased a spa and are having Matthews Pool Service service that as well. One day our pool turned cloudy and I called Mike.
