Top Canvas is a claw machine spot located right next to The District at Tustin Legacy (next to the AMC Theatre). Top Canvas also has other locations (Alhambra, Downey, Torrance, and Milpitas in Northern California) that operate as collectible stores and this is the only Top Canvas location that runs as a claw machine arcade. [Parking]: Easy and free parking at The District at Tustin Legacy. [Selection & Price]: Apparently the shop redesigned their claw machines and prize system in recent months. Players can now trade plushies for points and use those points to redeem more desirable prizes. As for trade-in prizes, they have selected signed Funko Pop figures / giant Pokémon plushies / other generic plushies (25%), blind boxes (50%), and graded Pokémon cards / booster packs / other collectibles (25%). Personally it would be better if they had fewer blind boxes as trade-in prizes and focused more on curated Sanrio plushies or unique action figures. [Point system]: For play packs, $10 = 20 tokens, $20 = 42 tokens, $50 = 110 tokens, and $100 = 230 tokens. Claw machines with numbered stickers indicate how many points each plush is worth and most machines indicate 15 points per plush. Blind box trade-in values range from 45 points to 125 points. [Conclusion]: It is nice to have claw machines with a higher win rate than places like Round1 + the ability to trade plushies for better prizes, but I do think their prizes are not as good as places like Round1. Personally I still prefer other claw machine spots like Infinity Claws in Rowland Heights and I also like Top Canvas's collectible stores better than this claw machine-only concept store. You can win some to take home or trade up for higher end prizes, we were able to score a umbreon comfy friends plush from the Pokémon center with our trade in winnings!!! This claw machine place is in the pedestrian only section at Tustin District and the staff there was very accommodating. They were willing to rearrange the dolls so my 7yo niece can catch the doll and also they were willing to let her trade when she didn't catch the exact doll she wanted. They have a lot of branded plushies (Sanrio, Mofusand, etc.) and I'm usually able to win something even if I get the cheapest option of $5 for 10 tokens. The workers are always quick to ask if you need help with anything. On my last visit, I got one of the prizes stuck over the plastic barrier and one of the workers opened it for me. I really like how this arcade allows you to trade for the prizes you want. They advise you to aim for whichever plushie is easiest because they'll let you trade for any of the other plushies in the same machine. A lot of claw machine arcades don't offer this option, so I thought this was great. Other than claw machines, they also have several different blind boxes. Some of the more popular blind boxes such as Sonny Angels or Smiskis are above retail price, but they also have other figures that are priced more reasonably. I like how this place has all in one and such a cute small arcade for after dinner. Definitely worth more than Round 1 if you really love claw machines, their stuffs animals varies and with $20 you have 46 tokens. Notes: each machine requires minimum 2 token, for bigger/ popular plushies 3-4 tokens. You will win something ( at first we thought that it was too hard to get anything from here) . This shop is located at the district. They have so many different cute claw games! Some payout takes way longer. Noticed we worked on a machine for a while and the claw was still weak. They even have Sonny Angels that looked to be authentic. They were marked up, but were from collections that are currently unavailable on the Sonny Angel website. They also sell opened secrets. And apparently if you get lucky, they have Labubus too?! We spent $20 for 46 tokens, not necessarily even expecting to win anything but to just have a good time. I was really excited that in total, we got 3 mofusand plushies! They have the machines set up where it doesn't feel impossible to win. They also seem pretty fair, I always win something when I buy $20 of tokens. I was really impressed with the selection of their blind boxes. They even had the Popmart Labubu series despite being super popular right now, so they were limiting purchases to one per person. The pricing for the claw machines was super fair, I paid about $10 for 10 coins which got me a decent amount of plays depending on the toy size. I would rate the win rate as more medium to hard difficulty. I was able to nab the Hangyodon which felt like a pretty decent deal! If the win rate were a bit higher I would have played more. read more

I love Top Canvas! I solely go for the claw machines, but they also have a lot of fun items like blind boxes and plushies for sale. My review is solely based on the claw machines, which are hit or miss. Since quality of service varies, I'd say my rating is more at a 4.5 First, you need to purchase tokens and the games range from 2-4 tokens. The nicer, licensed prizes are usually 4 tokens and harder to win Of all the claw machine places I've been to, I think this is the only one that charges taxes on the tokens.. which I find really odd. I get that it's a store that sells products, but I don't think tokens should be taxed ‍ Depending on who's working, the staff can sometimes be super helpful. Reminder- you can ask the employees to help reset / reposition the plushies for you. Some employees are more helpful than others when trying to help you win the plushies that you're going for. You can also trade plushies with another item from the same machine. The claw machine difficulties varies. IMO the 2 token machines tend to be easier, but the prizes are usually random non-branded items that I'm not as interested in One of my favorite reasons to continue returning and trying my luck at Top Canvas are the high quality/licensed plushies. My favorites are Mofusand and Rilakkuma, which I think are worth the expense since they are actually licensed products from Japan. While you might not necessarily walk away with tons of plushies each visit, they're definitely better in quality and selection compared to other claw machine arcades in the area. read more

This place used to be good, but recently the machines have been dialed down to be rigged to the extreme. I spent $50 and got nothing.

Not a claw machine arcade expert, but have been to my fair share of them with my child and this is what I felt was lacking that led to an overall bad experience. Overall poor customer service. The two people working there were behind the counter chitchatting only acknowledging customers when they came up to the counter. They were not out walking around, checking the machines, making sure the prizes were stacked properly or in a way that would encourage someone to win. Many of the machines were either almost empty or half empty. Along those lines, several of the machines were not working. The the value here is also terrible. Tokens cost approximately $.50 per token, it can be slightly less if you buy in bulk. However, there are no machines less than two tokens per play. Most machines are 3 to 6 tokens per play! There are no self service token machines since they do charge tax for the tokens. The prizes that are won cannot be exchanged for other prizes like many other places will do. This was really disappointing to my child. So a poor value along with poor overall service make for a poor overall experience. Looking at the posted pictures it's as if the owners just stopped trying after the grand opening. read more

This is another good claw game option in the OC. It is clean and you can even shop for toys and souvenirs in the shop. It's a little smaller than the Kawaii Klaw locations in the OC, but there were good products in the store. It's located in the outdoor District and has a few good food options for the family to enjoy. Parking is across the street in another shopping center. The service was good and employees helpful, though you cannot trade in your winnings for a larger gift. The value is standard, except for the sales tax. Some machines require more coins than others, but you can also win a larger prizes. Definitely not as expensive as how some other reviews have observed. read more

Opened two boxes because we purchased two separately and both were FAKE! We informed the workers that the boxes that were sold as authentic from pop-mart, were not real. The one I bought was scratched up and the fur is literally unstitching. We hoped to be taken care of since it was obvious it wasn't real and we were just told, "they are mass produced and sometimes they have manufactured defects and this could happen. Since it's a Final sale it is not refundable." My son was so excited and was disappointed in the end. I understand sales are final but how fair is it they sell fake products and don't do anything to help you out after selling it as authentic. If you're into claw machines and cool pop-mart products be wary as this place could sell you a FAKE product! I recommend okie dokie in garden grove, great service and authentic products! Only honest thing about the place was one of the workers genuinely felt horrible we got a FAKE labubu and she showed compassion compared to the one that told us it's a final sale and not refundable.
