    Complimentary tomato soup
    Ethan W.

Came here after not coming here for 5+ years. Flavors are just as I remembered. The tomato soup - flavorful sweet and a tad spicy. I love how it comes with each meal and it really is one of my favorite soups of all time. The pork chop over rice was pretty great too. I love the eggy fried rice buried underneath a velvety tomato sauce and in between, a tender pork chop. Honestly this is as hong kong as it gets. I think Venus cafe is a bit better in terms of quality but as nostalgic goes I love this place and I think it's worth checking out. They have been in business for as long as I've been alive! Other classic dishes we like to get that aren't pictured include the curry beef and the bitter melon beef.

Got Pork and preserved Egg Rice Porridge. Not what I ordered. I had ordered Pork and Pork BloodnRice Porridge.

Made a DoorDash pickup order for Pork with Pork Blood Congee. When I picked up my food saw this note on my order. Why didn't they call me up tell me they were out of pork blood. Why didn't they tell me face to face that they changed my order. Our places would have call me to tell me they were out of pork blood. Did have the energy to argue them.

Haven't been here in ages. Right when we sat down, she pointed to the cash only sign and reminded us that's cash only. Since we haven't visited in a long time, I didn't see an afternoon tea menu so I asked if they still have one, then she went and grabbed us another menu with a better value- afternoon menu. This was a bit odd to me as we walked in right around 3pm ish so it's Hk tea time. We tried the pork cutlet with rice, hot lemons tea and the baked pork chop rice. Both were decent for the price of $12 including a drink. Our total came out to be $24 for 2 afternoon tea set. The lady was a bit rude as we haven't asked for the check but she put it down really close to my food that I had to move it out of the way. The cold milk tea was pretty authentic in a way that the black tea flavor was strong, however, it was a bit too sweet for me. Food came out quickly and parking was easy on a Sunday afternoon around 3pm.

I usually don't write reviews, but this experience was so frustrating that I had to warn others. I had heard the terrible reputation this place has in the local Chinese community and saw the low ratings online, but I decided to give it a try anyway. Huge mistake. The community was right--stay away! 1. Blatant False Advertising (The "Menu vs. Reality" Trap) I ordered the No. 2 Sirloin Steak . The photo on the menu looked great, but what was served was a complete joke. The quality of the steak, the portion size, and the presentation were light-years away from the picture. It's a classic bait-and-switch. 2. Dishonest and Unprofessional Service The most infuriating part was the side dish. The set is supposed to come with French fries, but: * Zero Disclosure: They knew they were out of fries, but the server didn't say a word when I placed the order. * Passive-Aggressive Attitude: The plate arrived with a glaring empty space where the fries should be. They didn't even mention it until we pointed it out. * Total Indifference: When we asked, they just coldly said, "We're out," with no apology, no discount, and no offer for a substitute. Summary: This place lacks the most basic level of honesty and customer service. They essentially hide the fact that items are missing until after you've paid and been served. Do not waste your time or hard-earned money here. There are plenty of honest, high-quality cafes in the Bay Area--Top Cafe is definitely not one of them.

Have not been here for ages, so a nostalgic visit but was totally surprised that it is still CSAH ONLY post pandemic! We were warned of cash only again before we sat down. The waitress has been there forever, still speaks the broken Cantonese. She's nice and does her job, I just don't like how every time she delivers something there's food spilled onto our tissues. We ordered the classic baked pork chop rice with tomato sauce, tried the Aberdeen seafood fried rice (they use the American style imitation crab meat, not good), and sweet and sour pork chop rice which is a plate with lots of white rice and the dish of sweet and sour pork chop itself. The complementary Russel soup is getting worse. It's spicy but I can't find a single trace of black pepper, so I'm guessing they just squeeze the spicy sauce in the soup to add in the color and the peppery flavor. A set meal with baked dish, free soup and a free drink is 18.50. The free drink has choices like milk tea, soda, red bean milkshake drink and ginger honey. If you are into HongKong style cafe, the Top Cafe in Cupertino at least let you use credit card.

    Baked Chicken ' Portuguese '

3.5 stars Atmosphere: car seat booths by the walls and 4 tops in the middle. Unrenovated probably since the 90s, but clean. Strangely there's American pop playing in the background, usually expect some Asian pop in HK cafes such as these. Menu: pretty straightforward, but lots of choices so it can be hard to choose. Prices are a bit on the higher side but portions are huge. Food: came in for Sunday lunch. Empty in person dining, there were a couple more pickup to-go orders instead. I liked how the Portuguese dish has a more roasted coconut flake flavor and it was saucy and creamy enough to mix with each bite. The garlic steak was humongous portion, enough to bring some home. Each dish came with HK cafe style borscht soup, but found that the paprika white pepper powder flavor to be overpowering.

    Salt and pepper chicken wings

I ordered over the phone and verified the location to make sure it was the right one first. There's two locations of top cafe, I believe the other one is in Cupertino. It's cash or venmo only. My bf wanted the baked chicken and ham with rice and cream sauce. For some reason I couldn't find the baked items on the menu via yelp photos. I got the salt and pepper chicken wings and seafood stir fried udon. This was a pretty disappointing dinner. The chicken wings portion was small and not well balanced, the baked dish looked good but the taste wasn't good, thep udon was just whatever. The prices have increased but I don't know where the new prices are posted. Overall, I think the quality and taste of food at this place has decreased since the pandemic started. Maybe they lost a chef? We used to go or do pick up before fairly often, but every time we've tried in the past couple of months has been a disappointment. I really hope it'll get better, I really miss old Top Cafe.

    Baked Seafood with Rice

It's tradition to go here with my broski after we get haircuts nearby! It just doesn't hit the same without going here and ordering a baked seafood fried rice! I don't speak Chinese, but my friend has known the staff since his young Chinese school days! We always hit the place up when it's quiet and easy to get seated. We always make jokes about burning our mouth with the food, but don't do the same- it does actually incinerate the inside of your mouth, that's not a joke. I haven't tried anything else basically, but the complimentary borscht and the milk tea make wonderful and comforting additions to this place's meals. I always long for Top Cafe in the rainy days where my fingers are always cold, no matter how much I rub them together. I wish you were closer, like a family member that lives far away.

First time ordering take out form this place. I ordered the beef chow fun. The taste is ok, however it's way to oily in my opinion and not enough beef. On the menu it's priced at $8.95 and they charged $13.95 without tax on the recipe. Either they forgot to update the menu or we got over charged for it. I would not order the chow fun again and perhaps will try the baked pork chop and rice since that's what they known for based on some the reviews. Additionally, the service is not great either! Per your website - the price for the beef chow fun is $10.95, and I was charged $13.95. Pls update your online menu.

Venus Cafe is a small, simple, and cozy Hong Kong style restaurant, which is located on Hostetter Road off the 680 freeway, in a mall with a Paris Baguette pastries shop, and a few other restaurants, like Kim Tar. The menu here is very typical of Hong Kong menus that I've found frequently in my home area of San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles, with noodles dishes, rice dishes, clay pot dishes, and some Western style dishes as well. The wait staff are nice, and they brought out the food pretty quickly. They provided us with a nicely spiral bound menu with photos of their dishes and also a two-sided lunch specials and drinks menu. We picked and ordered what we liked, our orders also came with a milk tea drink. I ordered cold milk tea, and Mom ordered hot milk tea. We will definitely come here again, for both Mom and I enjoyed the warm and tasty food. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot, there were two electric chargers out front, but both were currently not in service. The location of this place is close to H Mart, about 1.8 miles away, and there is also a 99 Ranch Market on Hostetter Road. You can do your weekly grocery shopping that is close by, and then stop here for lunch.

I ordered the Baked Porkchop Over Rice and Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings. The wings were crispy but they tasted a little off and kinda old. This already sounds pretty bad but it gets worse. Let's talk about this Porkchop dish. I can say this with absolute confidence: this dish was pre-made and reheated. My first bite was abysmal. The pork tastes old and the tomato sauce tastes like plastic. I was wondering how I was gonna cut the porkchop with the plastic knife but the pork chop they gave me was so thin that it didn't matter. Once I cut it and checked the middle of the meat I can see it was dark brownish (not how a fresh porkchop should look). The portion was also pretty bad cuz it was served in a go-to tin. I only came here because there used to be another location next to De Anza College but everything here was way worse and I won't be coming back again.

They have a wide variety of choices to choose from. It looks like they specialize in Rice Noodles, so definitely give those a try! Let me just say everything that you order here comes out steaming hot so it's not your usual cart dim sum style. This was something that I tried for the first time and really appreciated! Some of the things I tried: Steamed pork and taro chunks 4/5 The steamed pork was so juicy and flavorful. They also throw in some taro chunks which I don't typically see, but it was delicious. A classic dish that's definitely worth trying. Thousand year old egg congee 4/5 The congee here comes in a GIGANTIC bowl. This is definitely something to order if going in a party of 3-4. The congee has such a home feel to it and it reminded me a lot of my grandma's congee. This was delicious. The only thing I would ask for is, I wish they had black pepper here, because that would make this dish pop out so much more Egg Rice Noodle 3/5 I saw this and it looked interesting, but it wasn't anything I found special. It was good, but not sure if I would get this again. If you're a huge fan of eggs maybe this dish is for you! Shrimp and chives Rice Noodle 5/5 This was really good, and I would order this again. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and everything was so flavorful with that oyster sauce poured over the rice noodles. I enjoyed this dish a lot, and a perfect order if you're going in a party of 3. Shrimp and chives dumpling 5/5 This is pretty similar to the rice noodle dish. One thing that I have to note is the dumpling was very soft. I preferred this a lot, since my experience with this dish is many dim sum places tend to make the skin of this dumpling really hard. This made it more enjoyable to eat. Siu Mai (Ground Pork and shrimp dumpling) 5/5 This is probably my favorite dim sum order and they nailed this one! When you take a bite into that dumpling, it is so juicy. It carries an amazing scent when you take a bite into it and I didn't really ever notice this with other Siu Mai order's. A classic order, definitely would order this one again. Service 5/5 There service here is exceptional and staff is amazing. Extremely helpful, they brought out some chili oil for us since it wasn't on the table. Food came out exceptionally quick. Everything was awesome! One thing to note, this place is pretty small so you will have to wait outside if you are on the waitlist. Check this place out, definitely a top tier dim sum place if you are looking for quality and price. Everything is very cheap and they also offer affordable rice plates (around $12-13) if you were looking for a quick meal togo!

All were very tasty in their own way. The bun itself is just chef's kiss -- so soft and fluffy with the slight crisp from the sugar dough topping. *drool* *Tip to ensure the best experience: Upon receiving your order, make sure to open the box to let the steam air out. The buns are so fresh and warm that it can make the crumb topping get soggy in the box which doesn't make it taste as fresh. Either enjoy right away or let it air out cuz that crisp topping is what makes these buns really taste special! Also got the "ice-chilled milk tea" which is essentially a Hong Kong-style milk tea which pairs perfectly with these buns! Hong Kong-style milk tea is not too sweet and has a very strong tea flavor so if you're not familiar with it, I would keep that in mind since it is a different flavor from the standard boba milk teas. I love it though! I've tried their tarts as well but to be honest, I was not as much of a fan of these. Tried the croissant egg tart and pandan croissant egg tart. The crust was flaky but a little tough in my opinion and was disappointed that the pandan flavor didn't really come through at all especially because the pandan coconut bun is so flavorful. Usually I am a po-tat stan but I would skip these here and just go for what they do best -- the buns!

The food: Pineapple Bun with Custard - They start with their standard Pineapple Bun which is already amazing and inject it with custard. Probably my favorite thing on the menu. Watch out when you eat this though since it will most likely make a mess. BBQ Pork Tart - I don't know exactly what this was called, but it had the flaky base of a Portuguese egg tart, BBQ pork as the filling, and then the crumbly top of a Pineapple Bun. It was worth trying once, but I can't say I understand it. Pandan Tart - This was decent. Center a little chewy. Lightly flavored. Pineapple Bun with Pandan Coconut Butter - I thought I would like this more, but there are some coconuts I really like and some that I don't. It's an off-note that I'm particularly sensitive to. I'd recommend the regular butter though. Had that before at a different location. Now that I've been to two locations and tried a bunch of different things, I think my combined recommendation would be Pineapple Bun with Custard (original), Pineapple Bun with Guava Butter, and Croissant Egg Tart. They have so much stuff going on here. I love the base assortment of items and it's fun to try some of their experimental things, knowing they're not all going to be hits.

My order for the past 2-3 years is as follows: - Level 2 Lamb Mala Pot w/ Glass Noodle - Side Order Lamb - Side Order Glass Noodle - 3 Sacha Sauces (requested at pick up) It's a hefty order that satisfies my cravings for a spicy, hot soup that I can have for 2, sometimes 3, days. The price has definitely increased over the years but I'm not surprised- inflation is crazy right now (currently, gas is as high as $7 / gallon and a dozen eggs are averaging $5 a carton). They have a dine-in discount if you come in at a certain time but I never dine-in to be able to take advantage of the savings. Ordering Wujis is a luxury for me, but it's one that I look forward to and the meal never disappoints. I still have NOT found anywhere that can be an alternative to the broth here and that's what makes Wuji's so special. I can't wait until the next time I order- they're currently closed for refrigeration repairs and renovation so until then, the cravings will remain!

Definitely didn't want to leave this review because I initially liked this place. My group and I…read morecame here and ordered 4 beef pots. Even though we confirmed with her that we were ordering 4, she misunderstood us and later brought out 5 beef pots. When she brought a 5th one out, and we reminded her we ordered 4, she brought it back to the kitchen. Shortly after, an older tall male worker came out and rudely asked us if we ordered 5 beef pots. When we told him we ordered 4, he told all of us to leave. The beef pots were all already served at the table and we tried explaining to him that we ordered 4. He brought the same waitress over and asked her if we really ordered 4 which she said that we ordered 5. His attitude was very hostile and he raised his voice to us and his own worker when he was questioning all of us. Since he didn't believe us, he kicked us out and we left. He lectured us and got upset for something that we didn't do and it was a very uncomfortable experience. My group would have been willing to pay for that extra beef bowl if the owner wasn't so aggressive and insisted we were liars. Definitely will not be coming here again and I hope nobody else experiences this terrible customer service.
