The congee here is the best in town. They have so many varieties, there's something for everyone. This congee has saved me many times over - after having a baby, recovering from surgery, or during food poisoning lol. 10/10 Can't comment on the ambiance or service since I prefer to get takeout and enjoy it at home. read more

1 star The restaurant's own website lists a whole chicken for $29, but the actual price is $36. When I pointed out the difference, the cashier said the website was outdated and declined to honor the listed price. I understand that costs go up. What disappointed me most was the dismissive attitude--the cashier seemed uninterested in addressing the discrepancy. A polite explanation and an assurance that they would update the website would have made a big difference. Instead, I felt my concern was brushed off. Customers should be able to rely on advertised prices and receive a courteous response when they ask about a difference. read more

I came for pickup at night. my wife was sick so I could only pick from a handful of places. There was only a couple places with congee and this was one of them. The inside is like a regular chinese restaurant (canto). The auntie helped me pick out a congee to go because they have quite a bit of options. It took about 10 minutes for my porridge. We got the seafood supreme. Honestly it was pretty good! warm, nice ingredients (shrimp scallop etc) and the flavor was just right. I can't really fault it for anything. 20$ got us 4 people worth. Not bad value. read more

Restaurant doesn't look the fanciest but the food was delicious and reminds me of Hong Kong food. Food was fresh and average review is 3 on Yelp so you know the food is good. We got the set menu which included a 10lb emperor crab. The crab was cooked into several different dishes. First was the garlic streamed crab legs. Tasted fresh and had the sweet crab taste. The garlic made it even better. The middle part of the crab was stir fried with deep aromatic flavors of onions and garlic. The shell of the crab was steamed with a very silky and soft egg mixed with pork and the crab insides. The soup we had was the black chicken soup. Flavorful and had black garlic as well. We had the special mahi mahi made into sweet and sour dish and salt and pepper. The sweet and sour fish was fried perfectly and stayed crispy with the sauce for the entire meal. Sauce was perfect which reminded me of having this dish in Hong Kong. The salted fish and chicken fried rice had the wok flavor. Ended with dessert of herbal grass jelly that was made fresh in store. The HK egg waffle was soft and had a mochi texture inside with great egg flavor. It was one of the best Chinese restaurant I've had for the Bay Area. Good service. Would definitely come back for the Chinese seafood craving. read more

Love to come here for dinner after a visit to Great America - great proximity, open late (to 10pm), outdoor dining (call ahead so they can set the table up for you), and yummy food! Our go-to favorites here are the giant bowl of porridge and the HK style egg waffles! The HK style chow mein, Fukien friend rice (yummy sauce mix on top!), and double-style tofu skin with fish maw, egg tofu, and veggies is always good. read more

Solid hole-in-the-wall for HK Chinese food. I actually prefer Ming Tasty over Saigon next door. Came here with a couple friends before our movie. We ordered so much food that they gave us congee on the house! Everything was good and prepared well. My favorites were the Filet Mignon with Black Pepper Sauce, you can really taste the wok hei. The Salt & Pepper fish filet was light and crisp. And the Green Onion Pancakes. My favorite thing to do is use the pancake to soak up sauce. read more

t was such a terrible experience eating at Ming Tasty at 6pm yesterday. This was the first time we ever left a zero tip at a restaurant. We complained about several dishes. The BBQ pork buns were outrageously priced and tasted stale, as if they had been reheated multiple times. The waiter openly told us that their dim sum items were leftovers from the morning, and that the BBQ pork buns were purchased frozen products not even made in their kitchen. The tofu skin wrap with meat was also extremely dry and tasted like it had been sitting for days. The chicken feet were dry as well. Even the jellyfish dish was overpriced for the quality. We always later dim-sum, but most of the restaurants steams the already made portion and do not have these issues. What shocked us most was that every complaint we raised was met with an excuse or justification from the waiter instead of any apology or concern about the food quality. read more

Ming Tasty is pretty good. I don't believe it will ever make somebody think it is high end but it is like a neighborhood cantonese dim sum spot. I felt the rice porridge was fairly good ... believe it or not, I've seen restaurants who go off a little on their own tastes and I stop going. Ming Tasty seems to have a good traditional recipe with just enough salt that you have to finish it on your own with soy sauce -- which is a positive to me. Har gow and the steamed dim dum were ok but the texture was B+. The Chinese dougnut with t he congee was good. In terms of value, society is in a weird place right now and so the prices reflect that compared to pre-pandemic. Worth trying and it is in the realm of a Asian, serving Asians restaurant for those who understand the difference. read more

Authentic Cantonese style cuisine! My husband and I wanted something simple but good tonight. The menu is large but we only ordered the beef chow fun and ginger onion kidney and liver. The chow fun had some wok hei and the kidney/liver dish was flavorful. I have to drop a star because for $20 there were very few pieces of kidney and even fewer liver, it felt like eating scraps. I do gotta give a shout out to the lemon tea and HK style milk tea. It's been a while since I had a good lemon/HK milk tea without making my own modifications to it. Pleasantly surprised and impressed! read more

Disappointed for Sunday lunch . I have been here couple times during weekday lunch and in general the food was average . And I have no idea the food quality was so bad recently . The mango tapioca milk drink was totally a joke : it only taste sweet and had nothing of mango in it , it was definitely from a canned drink , and the tapioca was hard . The beef chow fan was soooooo greasy and I had no idea why it taste soooo sweet ! I did not order a dessert please . The shrimp rice noodle was average I don't think I will visit this restaurant again read more

Just moved to Palo Alto, was craving some dim sum. Ordered for delivery. Turnip cakes were very pasty and very firm, smelled like burnt oil. Bbq steam bun was so floury and didn't have good finesse. Shrimp and pork rice noodle rolls were so thick with rice wrap and barely any meat, and the texture on them just completely off. Even the Bean Curd skin rolls came out hard and could barely cut them. If they're comfortable serving food like this, I'm comfortable with posting a review accordingly. read more

3.5 stars for us! Went on a Friday night and about half the restaurant was filled. We were excited to see dim sum offered all day so we ordered some xiu mai and chicken feet. We also got a fish stomach soup, lobster noodles, veggies w/tofu, and sticky rice. Everything was great. The garlicky noodles were especially my favorite, as well as the sticky rice which is a huge portion. Our main complaint is that the dim sum was too salty. Guess don't expect much dim sum wise since they don't specialize in it particularly! read more

Second time here and the food did not disappoint. Servers are always attentive. Very traditional Cantonese restaurant with TV showing daily news. Tons of parking, easy access off of Lawrence Expressway. Service is quick, and food comes out quick even though they have a very large menu. Siu Mai to start, fresh and hot! Sweet corn & chicken soup is very warming. When you bite into a kernel of corn, it is very sweet tasty. House Chow Mein offers a little of everything! Wrapped up the meal with classic beef and broccoli. You can't go wrong. Classic meal to make your day. read more

Made a reservation for party of 8 for a family birthday. Ming Tasty serves dim sum plus a complete authentic Chinese menu. Food is above average to fantastic but service is an area needing improvement. Nobody came to our table to take any orders. I had to grab someone's attention for that. First red flag. Here's what we ordered: Sticky Rice Lotus Leaf - five stars here for the moist, savory broth soaked rice. Sooo good. Would like to have embedded peanuts but that's just me. Har Gow - very sticky but large portioned. Need hot mustard. In a little bit of disbelief that they didn't have hot mustard. How can you serve dim sum without hot mustard? Siu Mai - unremarkable other than the fact that they are larger sized than normal. Seafood Congee - very tasty, but not enough solids in there, of any kind. String beans - great texture and firmness level - it's not always easy to get it just right so that they aren't overly flimsy or too crunch hard. Pea Shoots - one of my favorites here. Tastes like sautéed spinach. Really yummy. Lobster Noodles - didn't get a chance to really try because it gets a little messy digging out the lobster bits. Noodles were good though. Bean curd rolls - yes, always a must-order. It's such a unique dish, fun to eat because of the unique textures and delicious flavor. Chow fun with duck tongue - fun to say you ordered it but I have to say trying to unearth any meat out of the tongue with my own tongue and teeth felt a little weird. Prices are notably high and the service woefully falls short. I brought in a birthday cake and they didn't really know how to present it. (You take it out of the box BEFORE you bring it to the table). The special candles I brought were tossed aside - I mean if they weren't going to put it in the cake, why would I give it to them in the first place? We also had to ask for a knife, for example. Good service anticipates these needs, right? Finally, I realized later on that there were two dishes that were ordered, paid for, but never delivered (spare ribs and chicken feet). They gladly refunded it the next day, but it's another example of deficiencies in their process. That's all read more

Originally wanted to get dim sum next doors but was pissed by the receptionist so we came to this one. It was a contrast to next doors coz it's so quiet on a Sunday afternoon. I came here for dinner by myself. I paid $18.75 for house chicken and fried rice (2 separate orders). What I got instead was a lunch portion in a to-go box of chicken over white rice. This is nit what I ordered. And it wasnt even fried rice!!! I think I was ripped off for $19. I wont be coming back to MING-RIP-YOU-OFF. They tied the bag up so i couldnt look inside to see what was in there until I got home disappointed. I went next door and bought a Large pizza for $19 because I swear to God the portion was lunch-sized. I could have bought 4 (four) banh mi sandwiches at the restaurant, Nam, for that price and portion. #disappointed #ripped off #neveragain #NAMisBetter read more

For Ming Tasty, I ordered to-go with DoorDash for my workplace. I bought har gow, siu mai, and the shrimp rolled in the rice sheet. I think the flavor was alright. It felt kind of bland for me. Food here is incredible as usual. Comes out fast and efficient! Today we ordered salt baked chicken, xiao long bao, chow chiu fried rice, sticky rice, salmon cheung fun, and fried dough cheung fun. The fried rice has so many pieces of umami goodness, and little pieces of dried shrimp that add a nice little pop of saltiness, and the rice is in perfectly separated grains. Not overly oily and delicious!! XLB super juicy and the thin skin has a delicious slight chew to it. Cheung fun noodles were deliciously tender and had generous amount of filling! Love love love the soy sauce. Sweet and salty deliciousness. I could drink it! Salt baked chicken is super juicy and the skin is sooooo good and the perfect amount of salty with a nice char. I usually get the haianese chicken and order extra of the scallion ginger oil. So good! They're also partnered with Pastel Tea Lounge, which is right down a few doors in the same plaza! We take advantage of the 15% off discount to get drinks for bringing our Ming Tasty receipt. They even offer a discount for students! My family and I come here every week. Love to support!!! We came to eat the steamed fish Sep 2022. We ordered the cod grouper. It was very obvious that they gave us a dead fish that was not live from the fish tank. We eat a lot of fish and can immediately tell that the fishy taste/smell. Also the fish meat was extremely hard. I had cooked so much fish both live and frozen. This is for sure a dead fish and they charged us for $28 dollar a pound. Ended up paying more than 60 dollar for dead fish. Terrible extremely dishonest Buyer beware !! read more

I got my order from Uber eats so the dim sum wasn't eat it there fresh but overall pretty good. They were out of the chiu chow dumplings but they were sweet enough to call to ask if I wanted something else instead and subbed taro dumplings. Too bad it went straight to voicemail and I didn't know! We ended up getting: Taro dumplings Hargow Turnip cakes Pork buns (steamed) Wrapped sticky rice Shiu mai Custard buns The turnip cakes had turnip chunks which I want expecting and weren't a hit with the kids. I kinda liked it. Everything else was pretty standard. I highly enjoyed the shiu mai, my usual fav in dim sum land. The sticky rice was the only thing that was a little off. It tasted a bit sour and not quite what any of us liked. The custard buns were a good way to finish off the meal, not too sweet which I liked. Good thing we ate the taro dumplings first because we weren't sure if they were sweet or savory. They were savory with meat I felt like they were more unique so that was fun! It's like the fried taro dim sum innards but in a dumpling (if that makes any sense). The place is worth a try! read more

Tired this place the other day was not really impressed by the food. The prices here are expensive for what they serve and the food isn't even that good. A hidden gem! I give it a strong 3.5. While the hygiene was not the best, but the food and service was pretty good. I came here with Martin on a Sunday afternoon, right before the lunch rush. We quickly got a seat for 2, served tea, and handed menus. Between the two of us, we ordered: 1) Sliced beef congee ($9.95) // portion size is definitely good for 3-4 people! Good amount of white pepper, not too salty, and lots of beef. 2) Steamed chicken feet ($4.80) // There were 4 large pieces, so this order was perfect for 2 people. I wish it had a bit of spice to it, but the feet just tasted a bit too sweet. However, it did not taste soggy, which is a good sign! 3) Bean curd skin rolls ($5.50) // YUMMM always my favorite dish. The rolls here were HUGE! Good portion size, good flavor. 4) Shrimp rice noodle roll ($5.50) // Most dim sum places would at least give you two stems of gai lan, but this did not come with it. For the most part, not bad. Portion pretty big (shrimp is huge), and not too salty. Might be a bit overpriced though. 5) Siu Mai ($4.80) // 4 huge pieces! Meat is fatty, but hey- that's why its so good! Would order this again. Service: there when you need it, and the lady was nice to tell us that we had too much food...(and we still ordered it anyways). Price: very good! We paid under $20/person. YAY for cheap dimsum! Parking: spacious lot, but be wary of potholes and poorly drawn lines. Overall, would definitely come here again! Can't believe I passed it so many times and never tried it.... read more

** Poor customer service; find a different Chinese place in the area if you really are craving it. Though the dishes are passable, rude waiters / waitresses kill the vibes. They should rename this place Ming Lazy cuz the waiters and waitresses just aint it!! I've eaten here several times with my family, but after our last experience we probably won't be coming back. The food is okay, but the bad customer service just kills the vibes. When coming into the restaurant, we requested to be seated at a big table with more space in the back rather than the smaller table in a more packed area, and the waiter just gave us a weird look and was like "okay.... they're the same." Like dawg we're tryna get the bigger table so we can order more dishes... silly. The worst part though, was the other lady who took our order. They didn't even come over to check in on us for a long time, and after awhile we finally flagged her down to take our order. We had a few questions about the menu but the lady seemed too annoyed and impatient to care to answer. When we were discussing a few different dish options, she said "Are you guys ready? I don't have time to stand here all day." We would have waked out on site after that but since it was Christmas Eve and we were hungry we just stayed, but that was just a huge turnoff for us. Even when my mom asked for the dishes to be less oily and salty, she just was like "Nope can't do that." The dishes are just average, a bit on the oily side and definitely nothing special. The peking duck, cumin lamb, and veggie fish are all decent, but nothing that you can't get at a different place in the Bay Area. I don't even think we even got our tea...so yea cya Ming Lazy. read more
