DO NOT GO TO THIS ALTERATIONS LOCATION! They advertise they alter WEDDING GOWNS, but completely RUINED my wedding dress. I needed a hem of about an inch. When I returned to pick up the dress, it was hemmed nearly two inches off the ground! Not how it had been pinned at all. A wedding gown is to "kiss" the floor. Then the manager blamed me saying I should have told her the length I wanted the dress. Again, we had it pinned, and it was pinned to the desired length. I would not recommend this place to anyone! read more

I took my daughter's flower girl dress here to be altered. It was too long (mid calf) and needed to be hemmed up to the knee. I should have left first day because it seemed really expensive but was told because there was more than one layer it was more "challenging". It was marked and pinned. When we picked up the dress a week later it's too short!!! Well above the knee! They said they used marks and of course it can't be fixed because material is gone. They clearly didn't use marks and my daughter did not grow 3 inches in a week. Never again will we be back and now my daughter will be wearing biker shorts underneath the dress so she feels comfortable since they can't fix and too late to find another dress. If you have an important event I would not come here. Huge disappointment. read more

I've been going to Maryam with all my alterations for years. I can always count on friendly service and excellent work at Tops!

I recently took my Daughters Prom dress in for some simple alterations. It needed a simple hem and a clasp replaced in the back. My Daughter and I took the dress in on a Friday. We brought the actual shoes she would be wearing and explained what we needed. She had my Daughter put on the dress and shoes then began pinning the area to be hemmed. She told me it would be $45 and to be "safe" I could pick up the dress on the following Wednesday. Five days later. It seemed longer than usual for just a hem and a clasp but I didn't want to rush her to do it and being Prom week, I assumed they were busy. On Wednesday, I picked up the dress. I rang the bell at the front desk and apologized for having to use it. The woman said it was fine because it was the sound of money. I was taken back by the statement, but disregarded it. When my Daughter came home at 5:30 p.m. I had her try it on to make sure it was okay. It was immediately clear when she put the dress on that it was exactly the same length it was the day I brought it in. Absolutely NOTHING had been done. The clasp had been replaced but the one side was smaller than the other and wouldn't stay connected. I immediately called the store explaining what had happened. The woman on the phone had to ask me what color the dress was, how much I paid for it and what color of hair did the woman have that I picked the dress up from. REALLY? How about what is your name? I explained that I was there only a few hours earlier. After simply explaining that no alterations had been done other than a cheap clasp repair, she became defensive as she randomly blamed ME. First, she told me that we must have brought the wrong shoes in, Second I must not have had my Daughter try it on correctly (there is a wrong way to try on a dress? Third, that I didn't pick the dress up with my Daughter to make sure it was okay? ( new requirement for checking ones work I guess). She finally stated that they were closed and I would have to call back after 9:00 am to resolve the issue. It was 5:45, they are open until 6:00 and I live literally across the street. My Daughter was in tears. The next morning at 9:00 am I called again. I explained the situation yet again and was met with the same excuses. She asked me to bring my Daughter in immediately and she would do the job in 15 minutes. Wow , 15 minutes vs 5 days. Did she just channel a magical Keebler Elf or was there a magic wand involved? I explained my Daughter was at school and I couldn't get there until after 3:00 p.m. She then asked if I could try on the dress to do the hem? I am 2" taller than my Daughter which didn't seem to make a difference to her or her hemming skills. I am no tailor but that seemed odd to me. I finally told her that I would not be coming in in the interest of time and their lack of concern that the failed to do any work in the first place. She seemed insulted as she professed her 22 years of experience and that I somehow had caused this incident for many ridiculous and moot reasons. I realize that there are a lot of decent reviews on this business and I for one took those to be accurate when I chose them.... however.... that was not the case from beginning to end. I paid $45 for a $2.00 clasp and clearly the customer is always wrong here. So if you choose to believe the 5 star vs my 1 star opinion, then ring the money bell. I won't be visiting the fairy realm of seamstresses anytime soon. read more

I brought my daughter's senior ball dress in to have some straps taken in. The lady who came to the counter was not friendly at all. I should have walked out then. After being charged $100 we were told to pick up the dress on 4/27(the dress was brought in on 4/19). When we went back to pick up the dress on 4/27 at 3:30 p.m. We were first told she could not find the dress. After producing the invoice she found the dress and said she did not start on it yet and asked when did we need it by. Finally she told us to come back Monday and said it should be ready. Never again! read more

Great service. They are fast and the work they do is top notch. Reasonably priced and very friendly.

We were happy to see this business had weekend hours and great reviews, we only needed to have two curtain panels hemmed by 3 inches for a small window, she wanted to charge us $18 a curtain?! We couldn't believe it? Straight across hemming for two panels $36?! We asked why it was so expensive, she said in a curt manner 'that's what we charge here'. read more

They suck. went to get bridesmaid alteration dress and it still was to big after paying $90 for a hem, taking in the dress and cutting the straps off. $10 dollars to cut the straps off are you kidding me? This place was ridiculous and i will not be going back read more

I am thrilled with this establishment! They offer reasonable prices, great customer service, they have altered and made dresses for me as well as created new designs! Nadia is a professional designer and is extremely talented. When I was at one of my fittings late on a Friday a woman called and needed a dress almost remade with straps across the back because her relative had ordered the dress too small. Nadia altered it, it looked professional and had it ready the next day on Saturday for the celebration! Now that's customer service and she was sweet and kind and understanding. Miriam the owner is extremely conscientious and sweet. She works long days and never takes a vacation because she is dedicated to her profession. She wants every customer to be happy and return for additional services. They do it all! Support this small business because we need more people like these who value their customers! read more

I can't say enough positive things about these talented women. My daughter, her future mother-in-law, and I all went in for fittings and alterations for our gowns for my daughter's wedding. All of our gowns needed alteration of length, and fitting all over. My gown had straps, but I wanted cap sleeves added, and I brought in additional fabric. I am not a designer, and knew that I wanted my upper arms covered, but did not have much of an idea for how to add sleeves that would not detract from the gown. Both Nadia and Maryam discussed the type of sleeve and, Nadia made two different sleeves for me to see! I was able to go try on the gown with these different sleeves to make my decision! This may sound silly to some, but was immensely helpful to me!!!! All the dresses fit beautifully, and at the wedding, all of us were complemented on our beautiful gowns!! Thank you, Nadia, for your design and meticulous work! I will be back soon! read more
