The pastrami was ok . I felt it was a little costly for such a small sandwich. But for what the place lacked in food prices and decor it made up for with customer service. My server was very nice and friendly. All of the staff there was friendly. What was really worth it was downloading there app and receiving the free dessert the chocolate cake was delicious. I found this restaurant after doing a search for a good soup location near me on Yelp. Based on their online pictures and the description that they had their menus we decided to give it a shot. The restaurant itself is a little dated inside at this location I could probably use an update, but the service was excellent. Our server, Julia, was quick to recommend different dishes after finding out it was our first time there. The food did not quite match the pictures that were on the internet but that's to be expected since they're usually professionally done. TooJay's describes itself as Jewish comfort food and I would say that it definitely lived up to that description. It was all stuff that you would expect to receive at a visit to grandma or an aunt or an uncle that really like to cook. I had the reuben and the wife had the turkey cranberry griller. I also ordered a couple of things to take with me. I had the Tuscan Chicken sandwich as well as a shepherd's pie to go. To top it off I had the pumpkin spice cake and the wife had the banana dream cake. All of the food was good although I thought the shepherd's pie could have used a little more seasoning. The turkey griller was just okay as well. probably my favorite thing of the night was the Tuscan Chicken sandwich. A little messy and hard to eat as it's lit a part each time you took a bite, but it tasted great. Based on what we thought versus what we saw on the internet I've decided to give A review of three. Which is average. Neither good nor bad, but the service was excellent. My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what you expected and neither good nor bad. We normally enjoy TooJay's however their is their worst location. Our waitress made multiple mistakes with our order. We never received out appetizers. One order was never sent to the kitchen and everyone else was done with dinner by the time it finally arrived. Finally, even though we paid at the table, she somehow confused the two bills and ran the wrong card on each. I went to the front to speak to the manager and after waiting for 10-15 minutes (while she addressed two other service issues). When I told her of the issues, she seemed unsurprised and re-ran our cards but offered nothing for the inconvenience or poor service. read more

The most disgusting restaurant I ever encountered. The servers there are rude and odd. They are unprofessional and the managers will sit there all day with their thumbs up their a**es. Caught my server dipping her finger in our food to dig something out. Also caught her chewing on some of my fries..odd...like I said. I still tipped the girl but I can't remember her name, it was like Emma and she had blue hair. Overall I would give it no stars simply because the entire place was just sad and no one really was on top of their game. We decided to give TooJays take out a try. It was a pretty easy process and they were fast. I ordered the Matzah Ball soup and I was really pleased with the taste. It was light and well balanced with the vegetables. The matzah ball itself was delicious. They didn't try very hard to make Sheppard's pie look good and it consisted of mostly mashed potatoes. That was disappointing although the taste was good. Their chop liver is always spot on and a winner to go along with anything on the menu. We asked for them to flat iron the pastrami sandwich instead of the usually steaming. It was absolutely delicious!!!! The coleslaw was good but I never understood why you only get a serving size that looks like two tablespoons? The stuffed pepper was moist, flavorful and outrageously good. This was a random stop. We were coming from a funeral and hadn't eaten anything all day. Not wanting fast food we seen this restaurant sign from the street and decided we would stop. From the time we walked in we were greeted with smiles. The place is clean, friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. I ordered the Reuben and to my surprise it looked just like the menu pictured it. My partner had the Shepard's pie and raved about that! Desserts are amazing and everything fair priced. Just had a bad experience, after coming here for years. We are a party of 5, with 3 kids that like to sit in a big booth, rather than a table. Both large booths were empty and was told that there was no server for those booths. The Manager repeated the same comment and refused to move a server to that area. Based on their attitude we walked out and decided to eat elsewhere. There were other parties in that area, and it appeared they didn't want our business. I was previously in the restaurant business, and having a server take a customer at another table, is no big deal. They need to assess the customer preferences, before a poor attitude of management. read more

Typical TooJay's -- the food is amazing and the service is great! This location is somewhat hard to find with the Colonial Rd. construction, but it is in a small strip mall. The parking seemed adequate for all the different stores in the strip mall. I will definitely repeat if I am in the area. read more

We were there on a Sunday afternoon, & despite the restaurant being fairly busy, we were sat promptly & received fast service with food arriving quickly, hot & tasty. The service was adequate and attentive considering there were only 2 servers. They could have used a third one. I had the egg salad sandwich with no tomato which they added on anyways. It came with Matzo soup and coleslaw. All food items were good but, not great. The portion size of the sandwich was small. The sandwich and coleslaw was a bit bland. My significant other order the brisket plate which came with potato pancakes, broccoli, and soup. My significant other is a chef and said the matzos weren't packed together well enough. His brisket was well done which he would have preferred medium rare. He said the brisket was good but, not great. He said his broccoli was good and well seasoned. We bought some black and white cookies to take home. I love sweets and eat way too many sweets and the cookies were too sweet for me. This was the second location we have been to and the food was fantastic. Our server, Jacob did an excellent job and was attentive. I had the 2 all beef hot dogs with pastrami and cole slaw and it was very tasty. I had hoped that it would look more like the picture in the menu but no such luck. It was made with Nathan's hot dogs which was a different brand than shown. In the pic there was a pile of pastrami on them while mine had only a couple scrawny pieces each which was probably better for me. It came with an extra side of slaw and a pickle. Very filling. My kids had the Shepard's pie, amazing for what is actually ranchers pie as it is made with beef not lamb, and the other had the fish and chips. Both were large portions that came with soup or salad. We had fresh rye bread with butter. For desserts split the killer chocolate cake and the strawberry cheesecake. We recommend them both as they make great desserts and pastries. The only down side to our experience was the manager who was nice, but when he brought the desserts he asked if we needed another fork and I said yes please. He went to get it and never returned. This particular location is top notch. I've eaten at many others but this one has an amazing staff. The manager is AWESOME and even made it a point to toss me a free dessert when he found out I passed my medical boards. The matzo is a masterpiece and the pastrami sammy is my fave. I normally do breakfast here, which is out fast and delish! Lunch is always good and if you have room, the dessert counter is a trip through heavenly decadence. I strongly recommend a slice of the killer and carrot cakes. I've never had a bad meal here and the wait staff is awesome. They are all smiles and full of recommendations when you need help with a meal selection. My only complaint is the internet connection is slow and intermittent. So sad that a restaurant chain that was so good can become so bad. Zero star rating. Our server became antagonistic to us when we had to return food that was terrible. She complained to her manager who was nice and took care of us. Been a long time since we have been to a Too Jays. We won't return. Since we were in Ocoee across the street we decided to go in particularly since it was Wednesday which is the day they serve cabbage soup a favorite of ours years ago. Soup was inedible. It was very thin and not sweet at all. They left out the sugar. The takeout person told me they have problems with their food because it is cooked at a commissary in West Palm Beach. Some times she said they forget the chicken in the chicken soup. The chicken in the strawberry citrus salad was not cooked fresh and was mushy and watery. Totally inedible. We returned the salad and that was when our waitress became antagonistic. Manger replaced it with special of the day which was hot dogs with French fries, Cole slaw and sauerkraut and pickle. This was all very good except hot dog buns were stale. Chopped salad and Cobb salad had nice vegetables but turkey, ham and chicken were not fresh. Probably came from pre cubed meat stored for days. So now to the take out counter. Chocolate chip cookies, black and white cookies and the toll house square were very good. Especially the black and whites. Nova lox was so bad I threw it out. At $41 a pound they should do better. Cut too thick and over smoked and a bad taste. Rugalah very stale. read more

Too Jays, my wife and I just stopped in and had a meal. Like anywhere some choices on the menu might not be what you think they end up to be. I ordered chicken noodle soup and I feel it should've been called celery noodle soup for the abundance of celery that was in it but that's my own taste I'm not a salary fan. I gave it to my wife and she said it was very good. The meal that I had was also good, turkey dinner enjoyed it. The atmosphere was nice the waitresses were adequate the price was fair. So I'll give it two thumbs up my wife gives it two thumbs up we would return there again. Minus the chicken noodle soup. PS. My server Amber was AWESOME!!! But I was rather disappointed with the food. The fries and the Latke were overdone and almost hard as were the chicken tenders in my little ones chop chop salad and just tasted of oil. The bakery here has amazing pastries, cookies and bread. Love the variety of everything it makes it hard to decide what sweets to take home. The food here is fantastic. Get the brussel sprout appetizer and you won't regret it. Tons of different deli sandwiches and salads to choose from but also tons of dinners and burgers too!!! Rubens there are piled high and the meat and cheese are rolled so they stay in the bread. All the deli sandwiches are generous with meat and you pick the bread on most sandwiches. My family and I have been sick with the flu for the past week and haven't had the chance to get groceries so we ordered food from Toojays hoping that the food would be as good as it looked on their website. They were some of the absolute worst sandwiches I've ever had in my life! They were lacking flavor, the French fries were terrible and soggy, the cucumber salad was terrible and even the chopped salad was terrible. Typically I can find atleast one thing slightly appealing to the tastebuds but it was not the case. Even my three year old would not eat her chicken and fries. if i could give zero stars i would. food was fine but by far this is the worst service i have ever received in a restaurant. i have worked as a server for most of my working life, and in my opinion what i received today doesnt even deserve to be called service. our server Amanda was clearly inebriated, though im not sure what substance it was, but judging on the lack of attentiveness and the fact that her eyes were practically closed i cant say she was all there. in fact, she was practically relying on other servers to get *her* tables refills, silverware, and napkins. she took our order pretty attentively and then did not stop by our table again until about 45 minutes later with the food, where she put it on the table and then walked away. 2 empty drink on the table, that were not acknowledged. while eating we needed silverware, napkins, and salt but our server never came back to our table. we finished eating and then waited another 25ish minutes for her to even look our direction so we could wave her down to get our check. comically, us and 2 other tables had the same experience! we even talked to the booth across from us about how it never used to be like this, and how they had been waiting just as long, if not longer! the only reason she came over in the first place was because we waved her down and asked the other server (who got us napkins cause our server was busy ignoring her section), to help us out. all in all, myself, my mother and my grandmother, who were really excited to eat here today, all were genuinely so disappointed by the experience. the ambiance of the restaurant would best be described as trauma bonding: everyone suffering through the worst service together. read more

We went there for lunch on Friday. It was 4 of us. It took a while before the host came to the station and took us to the table. Food was good, no complaints. But our server - that's a different story! It was the first time in my life when I didn't want to leave a tip. We ordered our food, it arrived as expected in about 15 minutes (with exception of the soup, which never appeared on our table but did on the bill), and that was the last time we saw our waitress. We were busy talking and spent there about an hour. She never came to our table. We were ready to get out. I asked another server to bring us the check. In a couple minutes our survey showed up with payment terminal, swiped credit card, with anger throw it on a table and walked away without saying a word!! We were shocked! Maybe she had a horrible day, or she just found out that she got fired or god knows what else. But there is no excuse for being rude to customers. After looking through the menu and seeing that their chicken salads and tuna salads had abnormal items in them (boo! can't I just get a tuna salad or chicken salad without any extra veggies or fruit in it??) I decided on a Reuben. I substituted the Russian dressing for spicy mustard. The sandwich came out PACKED with meat and cheese. I could barely get my mouth around it. It was quite tasty! The French fries are the thicker kind and they could definitely have been more crispy. I don't like mine mushy, so I didn't finish them all. For dessert, I had a huge black and white cookie. Great service, even an hour before closing. At first I was hesitant to go in because I read on the door that the restaurant was closing in an hour.....on a Saturday. However, we were greeted with a smile and the server was very courteous and did not rush our late dinner. We ordered two different soups (my mom: Matzo ball, me: chili) and we splitted a pastrami sandwich.... let me share...TooJay's pastrami is AWESOME! It's warm, melts in your mouth, and your tastebuds just have a party in your mouth! Try it! You will enjoy that party in your mouth too! :D Also, I couldn't leave Toojay's with my usual order of Banana Dream. If you don't what I am talking about...order this tasty dessert next time! I've ate here for lunch about once a month for the past few months. The matzo-ball soup is one of the best ones I've had and my go-to meal is the chicken caprese which is a grilled chicken sandwich with fresh basil, tomatoes, and melted provolone cheese. The sandwich also comes with a pickle and coleslaw that is average. Another one of my favorites is the meatloaf sandwich which is gigantic (2 large slabs of meatloaf overhanging the roll) and even I couldn't finish it. The deli portion of the establishment reminds me of a real deli back home in NY which are non-existent in Florida. The crowd tends to be fairly older and they have many regulars. read more

TooJay's Ocoee is my favorite "secret" breakfast place. I never have to wait for a table, I've been enough times that they usually know what I want before I ask for it (breakfast combo platter with extra crispy bacon and sub out the additional bread for fresh fruit). Plus, I can sit quietly and read my book and sip coffee* for as long as I want, without ever feeling like I'm being rushed out (I'm looking at you, First Watch and KeKe's)! The Breakfast Combo Platter And Why I Love It: 1. Belgian Waffle -- I am not a waffle person. I prefer pancakes, hands down. But the waffle at TooJay's is nice and crisp, not soft and weirdly soggy, and it has a delicious flavor. 2. Bacon -- If it's not crispy, I won't eat it. So I always ask for extra crispy bacon and this is literally the only breakfast place where they know what EXTRA CRISPY means. 3. Scrambled Eggs with Cheddar -- They know what it means to add cheddar cheese to their scrambled eggs. I don't have to hunt for the cheese I'm paying extra for. And, their eggs feel/taste like real eggs. 4. Fresh Fruit -- It's usually an assortment of melon, grapes, and maybe strawberries. 5. Breakfast Potatoes -- This one's iffy. It depends on who your server is, so even now, I honestly don't know if this meal is supposed to come with the potatoes or not. But you better cross your fingers and wish with all your heart that the stars align and a batch of these deliciously prepared delights does end up on your plate. They're so yummy. *The only reason I'm not giving this place a full 5 is because of their coffee. I'm not a Starbucks junkie, I never go there actually, but I do know what a nice fresh quality cup of REAL coffee tastes like. Their coffee is basically just brown-tinted water. Bless their hearts, they walk around trying to practically force that horrible stuff down your throat the moment they see you're even THINKING about getting low on coffee. I can't be mad at them for it though, I'll just smile and say "no thanks" while I enjoy my awesome breakfast. If they ever add espresso to their menu I think I'll be in breakfast heaven. read more

Our waiter took our order and didn't come back until it was time for our check (which we waited a good 15 mins for after we were done eating). First let me say that the people here give great service, even gave me a sample of the dill chicken salad before I ordered. I had the 3 salad combo which had chicken salad (regular), tuna and egg salad. The presentation was great, the tomatoes tasted like they just were picked off the vine and the salads were all great! The only problem that I had was that they put rye bread on the plate with (why, I do not know) I absolutely hate rye bread including the smell and wish they had told me or given me a choise. Otherwise every thing on my dinner was excellent! The person I was with had the Turkey dinner. I asked to taste his stuffing because he was picking at it, and my God it was worse than stove top which I consider 100% worse than home made. They need to change the stuffing mix or just buy a box of Stove top, it would be so much better. On the desert menu it has Ragalach with the number 3 next (like you get 3), i didn't know what they were so the hostess showed me at the deli, and when I said you get 3 for 2.50 the person behind the deli (who I was not speaking to) snapped they are done by weight. So I guess when you order them at dinner you might get 1 or 3 depending on how big they are????? Why would they have the number 3 on the menu? And for a place that was eager to please at the table, it certainly put a bad taste to a nice experience! It was like every ounce counted. I'd been driving past this Toojays for about a year and finally decided to stop in for breakfast. This is not in the tourist area. People who come here are locals. I should have kept driving. Although this is a New York deli wanna-be, it looks more like a tired Sizzler. When I walked in, there might have been three tables occupied. The host, who was obviously busy with more pressing matters, shouted across the restaurant several times "I'll be right with you". This seems to be the Toojay's motto since I heard it a lot. Nothing on the breakfast menu is difficult. Eggs, omelettes and waffles. But service is SLOW. I was ready to walk out when my order finally arrived. Yet everything was dried out and super heated, as though it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time. And it was pretty hard to find the tiny hint of cheese in my Swiss cheese omelette. The sausage patties were sad and shriveled. I'm not sure how much taste it all would have had before it got heat stroke. The high point was the rye bread which appeared to be very fresh and homemade, although probably not here. The wait for the check was another exercise in patience. Prices aren't bad and the quantities are OK. But given the slow service and lackluster food, it isn't worth the price, no matter how reasonable. read more
