No slaw served said they were out had to ask server about slaw , info not volunteered. Spouse meal- Cabbage soup in photo looked fantastic. Served was another story. Must have been served for a few days cabbage was limited and very limp. Looked as bad as it tasted. BLT did not taste like beacon and half was left. My partner NEVER complains about a served meal even if the incorrect meal is served. Breakfast served last, but even the other options are wide. Soups, salads, sandwiches, plated meals -- there's a good variety that will easily appease any group of diners. They're also known for their baked goods -- and always having a large selection of tasty treats and desserts. The chocolate cake with chocolate chips is everything! There are some really good NY deli items as good as anything to be found in The Big Apple. There are thick sandwiches on artisan rye bread with caraway seeds with generous portions of corned beef and pastrami. My favorite is the NEO (nova smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and onions). It comes with a bagel and cream cheese. One can substitute potato latkes (pancakes), best ordered crispy, for the regular hash browns. There are potato knishes, too. There are dinners with an ample chunk of brisket and vegetable of the day. It comes with tasty matzoh ball and chicken soup. (They say it is the only part of the matzoh you can eat.) read more

I have been to many TooJays throughout FL over many years. Before today, my last visit was at the Coral Springs store. It was not a good experience. It's fair to say that this Deli Chain really has descended over the years. They used to always be on a wait but not anymore from my observations. That being said, this location was ok. The server was very pleasant and did her best but had too many tables to be accommodating. My Nova Platter was ok, had fresh vegetables on it but the lox was not hand sliced and obviously pre packaged. I asked for the bagel to not be toasted if it was fresh. I was assured that it was fresh but it came out toasted so you can make your own deduction. My wife's omelette was overcooked, my mother-in-laws deli sandwiches looked good and she liked them. This is a chain on the descent. That being said, depending on the location, you may get a decent meal. I wouldn't avoid it but I wouldn't run to it either. Good luck! read more

There aren't many genuine delis in Orlando, for whatever reason, so it's nice to have this Toojay's as an option. I've never been a fan of the other location, but they seem a lot friendlier here. You'll find all the deli standards here. My favorite is the hot pastrami on toasted rye. The pastrami is particularly lean and flavorful. I also like their cole slaw and dill pickles. While the server was nice, everything else was a disaster. The management here is setting up their staff for failure by not jumping in and helping when they only have on server. Our order, 2 pastrami Rubens, was slow to arrive and the pastrami was unbelievable fatty to the point it was inedible. After waiting 15 minutes for the check we finally had to go up front to try to get it. They ended up comping the entire meal, which we did not ask for, but are very grateful. Person at the bakery was amazing. This is our second time there and we encountered the same waitress. The first time we thought she may just be having a bad day but the second time, my husband just walked up and she literally stopped, stared at him, didn't say hello and then went to another table while he stood there waiting for someone to greet and seat him. We are not ones to make things about race but this felt very much like that being that this is the second time and the first time she was great with her customers just not us. I really enjoy Too Jays and their different options. It is currently a more limited menu, but still lots of great options. They have not seemed to be too busy at this location, but we always get great service and the kids enjoy the different items on the kids menu. My older child is a fan of their salads when she adds on an appetizer (the mini potato pancakes are a favorite). I enjoy the stuffed tomato with dill chicken salad. We used to love this TooJay's. What we experienced yesterday is the norm for this place now, and I guess they don't care? 10 minute wait at the hostess-less station. Seated. No one was waiting on the maybe 10 tables full of people. Most did not even have their drinks. 20 minutes in and seeing no one, like at all, we left. We could hear people chatting in the kitchen as we walked by the hostess stand and someone came out to say "have a nice weekend!" I wanted to turn and say "for real?" What is there to get at this point. The people working there do not want customers. They will do anything to keep from wait I'm on you. I hate leaving bad reviews. I always give servers a chance when they try but it's all crazy, but that was not what was going on here. TooJays on West Colonial is a really nice restaurant. Ive enjoyed going there for over ten years! My favorite thing is the Tongue sandwich on rye served warm with cole slaw and a pickle on the side. My husband loves the vegetarian entrees. The bakery is superb. The rugelach is just like NYC rugelach and their chocolate cake is absolutely delicious. Have you ever had a sandwich you just couldn't set down? If not, try TooJay's warm pastrami with mayo, a little mustard on rye. Oh man, the bread is so soft and slightly rye tasting, it's like biting into a cloud. The pastrami is freaking lusciously moist and so ummmmmm flavorful- almost giving brisket a run for "best taste" ever in non steak catagory. LOL. Cold slaw is slightly sweet and not too wet. Perfect companion to the balancing act with the sandwich you won't dare put down, less your life would diminished beyond reprieve. That said, the Matzo ball soup is so much more than the delicious dumpling. Look at that picture! It is swimming in veggies and chicken and a great broth. The macaroons were "ok". We had a ladies' luncheon as a moving away party for a member of our church group and a friend of all of us. I felt it was a big success and we all enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We were a group of 20+, and our waitress was quite good, though maybe a bit overwhelmed! Went to TooJay's for dinner tonight. You get a lot of food there so my wife and I took our dessert to go. This is what we got. If I hadn't paid almost 8 dollars a slice I would be laughing. The Keylime pie is about the size of one of those dessert cups from Seasons 52. The cheesecake looks like I was the second person to receive the slice. My advice? Go for the pastrami but save the money on the dessert. They really should be embarrassed. read more

So, TooJay's has a menu item known as deli dogs. It comes in three varieties. I think they are pretty nice as far as hot dogs go. The problem begins when you want to substitute toppings on a dog. And by substitution, I mean take one item from dog variety #1, combine it with one topping from variety #2, etc. No big shakes. We're not talking about Einsteinium physics here. They're already theoretically (in Albert's honor) making a dog with this topping. You're just asking them to take one topping from one dog and place it on another dog. This is where TooJay's shows the joke of a deli that they are. Ever since converting to their new ordering system, any shred of customer service has gone out the window. The waitstaff looks with faces of abject terror at the mere mention of placing topping A along with topping B. "Our new ordering system does not allow this!" they cringe. REALLY?!? I will give the staff at the Altamonte Springs location some credit. They at least have been willing to work with me on two separate occasions to get my toppings of choice (I know this is asking A LOT, TooJay's ) on my dogs since converting to the new system, even if they have made it seem like they are doing some super subversive secret service tactics to make that happen. The one on Colonial? Nah, not so much ... at all. The poor server looked like I had just demanded she slay her next of kin when I asked for the Great Topping Switcheroo to take place. When I tried to approach the ordering Ninja-style and order my preferred toppings on the side instead, the manager on duty the night after Christmas mysteriously appeared and suddenly informed me they were out of hot dogs in a smug, patronizing, "hahaha, I got you!" manner. Pathetic, nonexistent attempt to satisfy a customer. Blatant lies. Utter nonsense. You win this battle this time, TooJay's. But I ultimately win the war, as never again will I spend a red cent at one of your establishments. And all this because you apparently can't figure out how to combine pastrami and cheddar cheese on one hot dog, because robots have taken over your company, and your minions are at the mercy of your ordering system. I was out and about today and had a free slice of cake offer from TooJay's, so I stopped in on the way home. I was just going to get my dessert and go, but that's impossible. Once you stop in, your mind races to all the delicious menu items and goodies. I ended up getting dinner to go ( the chicken I took out to cook can wait until tomorrow). Don't you hate when reviews start " I really wanted to like the place" well here is another one. I stopped here on a Tuesday about 12:15 for lunch prior to a 1:00 pm doctor's appointment in the same strip mall as this TooJay's deli is in. I should have realized this was going to be an issue when I saw only 2 waitress and what looked like a manager walking around. it took us almost 7 minutes to get seated. There was only 2 of us. Although she took our drink order right away again it took almost another 10 minutes before she came back to take our order. The restaurant was not packed by any means of the words maybe 4 other couples in the whole place. My friend order a cheeseburger platter and I had what was supposed to be a hot pastrami sandwich with fries. The sandwich was not hot at all. The fries seemed warmed up. I asked for the check within 5 minutes of the order being placed at the table because I had a feeling it would take a while to get and I eventually did have to have the other waitress track down our waitress and ask for it again. Too Jay's NY Style Bagels - I just purchased a dozen of the bagels and a tub of Nova cream cheese. These bagels are just like the actual NY bagels. Too Jay's boils them first and then bakes them which creates a nice crisp crust on the outside. The cream cheese has actual bits of Nova Lox and was delicious. Theses are definitely five star bagels. read more

Received an e mail it is national hot pastrami day we went for my sisters birthday there were 3 of us. You can tell they were not happy about that. The pastrami was disgusting cold, fatty, and just looked like horse meat to be honest. The manager came over says " pastrami Is a fatty meat anyway" we have have eaten pastrami many times before. I have been TooJays number 1 fan since I lived in Palm Beach back in the 80's and would walk to that location. (Still my favorite). The Ocoee location- the food and service were fine but they seem a little unorganized.. a lot of chaos at the entrance/bakery station. Not acknowledged for awhile as they all stood around talking to each other. I was not in a rush so I didn't care. Also I am a new widow and this was a big step for me to go to lunch by myself without my husband and I know people don't train for this sensitive situation but I would suggest instead of the Host saying are you alone? to say lunch for one? or something like that. Of course I started to cry and the poor man had no idea why and I was not ready to explain. Just a thought... Lisa took great care of us. I had a Reuben Sandwich and my companion a Grilled Cheese. Although my Reuben wasn't as hot as I would have liked, the corned beef was delicious and the accompanying fries were perfect. I prefer my coleslaw with a little "kick" (hot mustard or horseradish based), but Too Jay's slaw is more traditional and most people will love it! My companion's Grilled Cheese was good, albeit, hard to prepare badly. It's hard to go wrong with a Too Jay's dessert. We are big fans of this restaurant. The food and service are very good. Today was a bit of a disappointment. We received our entrees while having our soup, then we got our check before finishing our dinner. We asked for saltine crackers and it was never brought out. I had to ask for drink refills (usually it comes out when my drink is half full). We will be back again next month, hopefully better service next time. We love their menu selections. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! If I could give this place negative stars I would. My friend and I visited this location on March 1 at around 1:10/1:15. We stood at the host desk without being acknowledged to the point I had to go to the cashier to ask about being seated. The cashier was an older woman with gray hair and glasses and she was EXTREMELY RUDE! She didn't greet me when I walked up to her or anything. I asked if we had to wait to be seated she replied "Yup" and I followed my question by asking her if she knew where the host was, she replied "Nope" and walked away. I was so taken aback by the lack of customer service I just walked back to the host desk where my friend was and still no one. We eventually got fed up and walked out. I normally love TooJay's but was disappointed with our pick up order. We ordered online because we have a newborn at home and I was just not up to making dinner. My husband went to go get the food. He said it was extremely dead while he was there. When he got home we saw they didn't include any of our sides. My husbands sandwich also didn't have any of the extras we had paid for. So I've been to the Altamonte location, and it was decent. The Ocoee location is anything but. Firstly, the actual building appears unkempt. Along the side of the actual building, cigarettes were pIled on the railings. Super gross. Then there was the service, our server was pleasant enough. However, I felt rushed into ordering which was odd since it was half empty. Now comes the food: I got a combo for half a sandwich and a cup of soup. I settled on the Pastrami Sandwich and Matzah Ball Soup. When it arrived, the sandwich was lukewarm. More than half the pastrami was with fat and gristle. It was practically inedible. The soup was okay, but it was a bit too "busy" for my taste. Overall, this lunch was a fail for me. Which is disappointing since I love delis. And I really hate bad food lol. This was an awesome breakfast stop on a day of running around and doing errands. I had not been to this location in quite some time. Walking in I quickly remembered what an amazing bakery they have. I was tempted by cakes and cookies as I walked up to the host to be seated. We were seated quickly and I had to use the restroom so I rushed in only to find that one stall was occupied and the other two were out of order. I quickly ran next door to Miwa, a lovely hibachi restaurant. They were kind enough to let me use the restroom and I was almost tempted to have my husband meet me over there but I knew he wanted breakfast so I hurried back. I was greeted by a nice fresh cup of coffee at my seat and my husband who was starving. I quickly choose to get the TooJays omelet. It comes with EVERYTHING so it was only right that I chose an everything bagel to accompany it. Of course with grits. Food came out fairly quick. Omelette was hard to finish, very hearty and thick. I chose Munster cheese and it was delish. The grits were creamy but they did need a little doctoring. Some salt, pepper, and butter got them in shape. Overall service was friendly and fast and my only complaint would be the inconvenience of the restroom. I didn't get any dessert this go round but I've had the carrot cake before and it was amazing. Came in tonight, 4 of us. Ordered 2 Reubens, a Cobb Salad and a burger. Also a bowl of Matzoh Ball soup. Waited forever. Nothing came. Asked about the soup, waitress said I never ordered soup even though we all heard her read back our order and she repeated the soup. Told her to forget the soup as our food was now ready. Food was good, served hot. Waitress never came back to check on us. Forgot the coleslaw. Then said they didn't have any. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived. We were seated pretty quickly. The server came over and took our order. They were out of the meatloaf I wanted to order so I was forced to order something more expensive. My husband ordered a beer and they were out of the kind he wanted to order. After a few minutes, the manager approached our table and told us they were out of liver, which is what my husband ordered, he was then forced to order something that cost more. Stopped in for lunch with some friends, and wow, is this place good. My wife had the side salad and crock of french onion soup, which was very good. I had the pastrami grilled cheese & fries. One of the better sandwiches I've had, and the fries are steak fries, which are one of my favorites. We didn't try the desserts, but boy they sure look good.
