This has to be one of the best burgers I had in my life! Trust me, this isn't just a statement easily given from me. I've had the black label burger at Minetta Tavern. This corner store in Galloway NJ has nailed burger perfection. My wife & I are headed down to Ocean City NJ for their annual Corvette show. I figured I'd stop before the 3pm hotel check in and grab some lunch. I order a Black & White milkshake (cause I'm a Brooklyn kid at heart) and wait for our burgers. The restaurant is decorated simple with a few burger pictures on the walls. Nothing fancy or bougie for what we're about to experience. The burgers come to us and we take a bite. Wow! We stopped in here for a bite to eat when we were in town for a wedding. The burgers were really pretty good (I had the French onion burger, my friend had the one with the grilled cheese bun and tomato soup for dipping, and my husband had the classic) and a bit different than we're used to and the fries were great. I ordered from the Somers Point location about 2 weeks ago, I ordered a triple crispy Texas to split with my girlfriend. When I got to the counter to pay for my order, the cook in the back was talking to another coworker about my order and went on a tirade about how ordering a triple was "selfish". He went on for about this for a good five minutes. I don't think he realized that the person who placed the order was standing right there. I told the nice woman running the register what was happening right in front of us and if I could speak to the cook. He came to the front counter. I told him I didn't understand the comment and why he would talk about one of your patrons like this, essentially right to my face. First, he said he made the remarks he did because "it was hot" back where he was cooking. I asked him if that was really his reason for making the comments he made. Then he changed his tune and said he was "just joking around" with another coworker. The coworker: a mid 50's-early 60's elderly gentleman who showed no interest in the joke. I told the cook I still didn't understand his remarks and why he would talk about a customer like this. After about five minutes of debating the topic and the cook continuing to try to stand his ground on why there was nothing wrong with his comments, he apologized but refused to acknowledge that his comments were out of line. Needless to say that as someone who has struggled with eating disorders in the past, I now feel pretty disturbed by the situation and with myself, and won't be back to Tony Beef. read more

It was effen delicious I got the Texas burger: two patties, frizzled onions and barbecue sauce on a toasted bun--delicious. The waffle fries were good also. The banana milkshake was one of the best I've ever had. The young ladies behind the counter were friendly and the service was quick. The tables and chairs inside were basic: metal and hard wood. Decided to try the Texas one which had lots of crunchy onions on top cheddar cheese, and barbecue sauce, with two patties on a brioche roll. it was a bit of a way to get the hamburger I took it to go. I went into the restaurant to buy a milkshake, me and all my friends went, we always go to them because they have great food, price is kinda high though. But I put in my order for my milkshake, put down my name, and that's when the lady called my name. She said that she wouldn't make my shake, because of what I put for the special request: "Can you make it freaky" Keep in mind, I did this a year before with a burger and they left me a little note telling me it was funny. I can understand that maybe I shouldn't have done that joke the second time, but the lady took it personal, I didn't know this person, nor was I trying to get a rise from her, she was yelling at me the whole time and making a scene in the middle of a crowded restaurant. She shouldn't have yelled at me for something so little, and she was very young too, at least 20. I was so upset that if I didn't already pay for the shake, I would've just left. Then she went in the back to get the manager, he and some cooks made my shake, and he told me not to do it again, but I told him I did it a year earlier and I even showed him the note, I kept it because the place was cool for the little note. He said to just not do it again. I even tried to apologize to the lady, but she wasn't having it. Tried the Crispy Texas one patty $10.99, perfect bun, bacon was good, the crispy onions and bbq sauce . Each bite was delicious, crispy onions crunching with every bite. No need to add anything to this burger. The two party version was $13.99. Regular order of fries was perfect size to share not bad at $4.75, Very flavorful and crispy shoestring fries. Malt vinegar and ketchup on table . The fountain soda is a nice deal $2.49 for a drink. Coke products which is a plus for me. The female server was friendly and greeted us, stopped by the table to see if everything was good. There was a steady stream of customers. Eat in and take out for a Labor Day lunch time. The server answered our questions about the company and how long they were there and offered information they are looking for a third location. We will keep this as a go to when we are in the area. I LOVE their cheesesteak fries with the candied jalapeño and damn that cheese is good. Husband loves the pizza me burger. And their milkshakes are good. Flavors aren't bad but I find the strawberry shortcake to be too sweet. But hubs loves it. You can easily spend 100 bucks for a family of 5, but I never feel ripped when I leave. Portions are perfect. Customer service is always great. And the signs crack the kids up every time. We make the drive a couple times a month which is an hour. I feel that speaks volumes on its own.
