Went for Music Bingo. Highly recommend the eco-focused play using laminated double-sided cards with dry erase markers. The wait staff follow up with you throughout the night. The group ordered different things including the wings, the app for two was a popular option since it hits most folks wants without needing to order those things separately. Two of us ordered shirley temples, and one the blueberry cider that was tried by all and a definite keeper. Dessert was the only disappointment. We ordered the peanut butter chocolate cake. Not for us. Perhaps an option for others? I'd suggest not coming here for dessert. The rest - the bar vibe, the ease of parking and the good service are all reasons to come back. read more

JD's Pub & Grille - Pubs Near Me - Galloway, New Jersey

Unexpectedly terrific food. We have been there twice and both times were great. The place is well run but there are a couple of glitches a diner could do without. The first is a refill charge on soft drinks and even unsweetened tea of $1.99. The drink is already overpriced and the extra charge is highly irregular amongst most restaurants or pubs. The second and was vividly evident on our last visit was once the food was delivered the waitress basically forgot about us. No check in once we started eating nothing. We had to flag her down refill our non alcoholic drinks...that was the problem. No drinks lower tip. If you hit it right the wonderful food and specials make up for the lackluster service. read more

We wanted Buffalo wings after a golf outing and JD's did not disappoint! Attentive service by young college student aged waiters. We had devil wings which were not overly spicy and garlic parm. Both were great with good crisp. Waffle cheese fries were good too. They have chipotle sauce with bacon. Huge portion. It's a sports bar vibe but clean. It has better reviews in google. read more

Nice sports bar type venue. Has outdoor covered seating and a variety of booth, high top and low tables scattered around the large bar. Decent craft beer selection. Had a veggie quesadilla which was stuffed. My wife had a Vaesar Salad which was also pretty large and freshly made. read more

my experience was terrible. I'll never support this business again. the customer service was poor and so was the presentation if ignorance was a person they answered the phone tonite. Great service. The staff were top notch and wonderful people. Smelled a bit like cleaner walking in the door. Furniture and decor are older and need updating. A lot of locals at the bar. Welcoming atmosphere. Food was ok. Fryer oil tasted burnt and old. Over all the experience was nice. Came here because of a wait in smithville. Would come again. Thanks !! read more

Since I'm a (moderately) experienced restaurant worker, here goes.... Nice place, very friendly. Good service. Food was good quality pub grub. Chili was very tasty but a tad watery, could be a little more substantial. Fried crab cake tasty, mildly over done. Overall, good value. read more

We went Thursday night for music trivia night. Service was great our server was Hailey and she was excellent. We usually have Kayla and she is amazing too! What has happened to this place? Just brought home an order of fried oysters and chicken salad, a weekend special. The tiny oysters were limp and sopping wet!! Absolutely disgusting! The food was picked up 10 minutes after being ordered. The oysters should have been crisp and delicious! I won't be back! Too many recent bad experiences with food that used to be great! read more

Our first time eating here. The service was great. They were under staffed but our server was great. The Jersey Devil Burger was delicious. I would get it again. My wife had the mahi tacos and she loved them. We will be back for drinks and try other items. The restaurant was spacious and clean. read more

I went here on a Sunday for lunch over a year ago with 14 friends. They had one waitress working the whole place, crazy right? The French dip was dry with hardly any meat or cheese. The fried appetizer platter was dry because it was over cooked. Hamburgers were nothing special. Only 5 people liked their food. It took over 20 minutes for everyone to get their food. If you like to drink and watch sports this is the place to go and it got crowded at 1pm. I wouldn't recommend it for a lunch with friends. Stars are for the waitress! read more

Piece of crap political restaurant. I used to enjoy going there but never again. They had a trump burger special back in November after the election. I used to love their food but it has gone to crap ever since then. Used to be a regular weekly, at least, diner. Never again. read more

Great food and very friendly bartenders/waiters! Plenty of indoor seating and benches out front. There's a pool table in the back.

Sometimes it's the familiar that you forget and put on the shelf for another day. When it comes to eating out there are some folks who solely focus on "their place" whereas the rest of us excitedly seek out new locations to satisfy the perennial hunt for tastes that make us go ahhhhh. So, it is in the corner booth of the 'Dining Out Confessional" that I pause in this quiet moment to ask for forgiveness because I have driven past JD's Pub not once, not twice but far more numerous times than I care to admit without even casting a side glance towards this Smithville dining treasure where I know the food is good. I know it yet I have driven miles only to eat at blah eateries and it was a time constraint that pointed my blue Hyundai towards this oddly placed shopping plaza that is attempting to have a renaissance for dinner. JD's named for the historic 'Jersey Devil' whose family inhabits the nearby woods of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge is frequently filled with locals gathered around the bar just being friendly. There is truly a familiar feeling to customer and staff that in these times is almost discouraged at many locations. As non-regulars, none of us knew the wait staff but that didn't prevent friendly greetings and smiles being sent in our direction. Always a plus ... JD's floor plan is interesting with an outdoor tobacco scented al fresco dining area adjacent to the parking lot (I never quite have understood the pleasure people find in getting the reflected heat from parking lots just for the pleasure of sitting at a table susceptible to insects of all kinds. Give me a beautiful nature scene and I will happily eat outdoors.). Yes, they are a pub that profits from drinking and puffing on tobacco leaves wrapped in paper leaving tar stains on one's lungs is a traditional bar experience but if you want to encourage diners palettes it might help to put the smokers residual aromas away from your doors. Inside there is a half wall dividing the bar area with adjacent booths and high tables. Have never figured out the darkened side dining area because it disconnects from the energy of the pub but it is there. We ate in a booth by the bar and felt part of the community. You want choices ... JD's has choices and JD's has specials including what must be one of the best BURGER DEALS around (Monday's all burgers (eat in only) are only $6.99!! Taco & Tequila Tuesday's and more! Plus daily chalk board items and live music on the weekends (For those smokers haha)! Service was initially attentive ... and this incredibly delicious and uniquely flavored nicely sized bowl of Crab Bisque arrived very quickly. Perfect temperature and it was ahhhh mmmmmm ohhhhhh yummmm! If you read my reviews you know I am a soup kind of guy! JD"s passed that test! Guess the group at the table was in a taco night because I was the only one who ordered something other than the grilled fish taco platter. I went Blackened Mahi Mahi, which came with a baked potato and vegetable du jour (whatever ... ). This is when service started to get tricky ... food was delivered and looked appetizing but where was the promised "side of remounted?" Uh, what about sour cream for the baked fellow on my plate (Actually, it was a rather worn out looking baked potato minus the crispy skin that I like to break through but the interior was fluffy and tasty.)? It seemed that my request interrupted the waiters comfy routine because he looked at me like 'really?' Perhaps the chipotle ranch on the taco's should be on the side because one person said too spicy but still enjoyed the meal. My Mahi's spices were just what I wanted to enjoy and the fish was prepared flaky and right. The water refills were a tad on the slow side but as you can tell by the four stars gleaming above when it came time to consider whether JD's Pub is worth the trip for dinner or lunch ... worth stopping here before going to the Village of Smithville or after a festival there ... then the answer is a resounding yes. And, for those locals who keep driving by time after time ... you just have to stop here. Walk through the vacated smoke and get ready to enjoy a really good meal at great prices. Imagine your choice of delicious burgers for under $7. And, be thankful that the neighborhood is at the bar because that way the old Jersey Devil will just be headed elsewhere! read more

This was not a planned stop, but when out and about in a Monday and you find yourself hungry JD's Pub fills that need. The pub was clean and the bartender welcoming, as there was a sign to seat yourself. We chose the bar, and immediately given menus including a special paper. On Monday's they were offering a great deal on any birder with fries, the price was amazing and the taste great! They also serve frosted glasses for beer or cider, which was a nice touch. I will definitely be back! read more

I eat here every week for Trivia. Wait staff is very friendly and attentive. But something has happened to the food quality. It used to be fantastic, then a while ago it became a mixed bag. Burgers and wings are good. Tenders are hit or miss. I love Reuben's but now they are terrible. It's like they put them in a toaster over. Crab bisque is like crab flavored seawater with no crab in it. French onion is very good. So to be sure get a burger or a cheesesteak. read more

JD's is nothing that special. It's not good, it's not bad. It's just there. The food is okay, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The crowd is usually men, and they're not usually younger than 25. There's nothing specifically wrong with JD's, I just am not a fan. The service is varies from good to okay. The drinks aren't special. There's always a game on the TV, at least that's nice. As someone who is LGBTQ+, the atmosphere doesn't feel very *friendly* to me. I'm not too comfortable there. It just means it's not my crowd and that's fine, but it's just a heads up to anyone reading this. read more

Went here after reading their menu and learning they had a meatloaf and potatoes platter. It was a fabulous meal and if I wasn't here traveling for the weekend, I would have gotten another order to take home. Great taste and the portion size was great for the money. Every damn time I have ordered from them my order has be screwed up. Why I kept trying them? Who knows! But never again. EVERY DAMN TIME! Staff was nice, food took a little longer to come out...yet tasted like it was sitting under the heat lamps for far to long. I knew I should have checked the order before I left but figure they couldn't possibly have messed it up AGAIN! WRONG! Dining my be alittle more pleasant. The place was packed but avoid take out at all cost. Because you know they will take your money, give you the wrong order then tell you to come back and they will correct the meal, like I have time for that. NEVER AGAIN! DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

The filet mignon cheesesteak is great. Haven't had their wings yet but hear they're great as well.

We were driving home from Brigantine and decided to randomly stop in Smithville. We decided to stop in to JD's Pub for a bite to eat. Service was very slow and food was not great. It looked nice, but chicken was tough to chew and was bland. The Fillet Mignion sandwich was tastier and recommended. read more

Went in and it was seat yourself.I sat there for about ten minutes, then a couple came and as soon as the sat the server ran over to them. I put my hand up and said excuse me , her answer was ok no one saw you. See took the order like or was a issue. As it took a long time for the food to come, when it did she dropped it saw her again when it was time to give me the bill. The chicken tenders were chewy, cheese steak was good. But due to the service I will never go back, and if your not a regular I suggest you Sotho they will not see you. There was no reason had 3 servers and a bused. I have served before , just bad service read more

We stopped in after spending 4 hours birdwatching at Edwin B Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday February 12, 2022. The place was busy. They had a birthday party going on in a big room separate from the bar area. I'm sorry to say that my chicken cheesesteak with mushrooms, lettuce, onion and tomato was the worst one I have had in a long time! Seems like an ok place for locals but if you're from out of town don't expect to get served anytime soon. Bar staff just hang out chatting with locals and friends and if you're a stranger good luck. The food was so so with the exception of a brisket sandwich that was exceptional. The mounds of tater tots that went with it was an odd combination, but the smoked brisket was great. read more

This is a fun bar with good regular food as well. They have a lovely roast pork sandwich with provolone cheese. Also, they have a great selection of beers. I enjoy the atmosphere especially since NJ passed the no smoking in public places. This place seemed to accumulate smoke rather than the smoke eaters getting rid of it. They also have a restaurant section that is a bit tamer than the bar. read more

JD's Pub & Grille - JD's Pub - Pubs Near Me - Galloway, New Jersey

It's an awesome pub! Lots of space and definitely the local watering hole. The three of us walked in as everyone was watching the game, the server did acknowledge us as we sat ourselves in a booth. He checked on us promptly for drinks and within minutes we had some brewskies at hand. We ordered the manhattan clam chowder and the Irish nachos, a fun play on nachos con queso. The nachos were waffle cut potatoes and the cheddar cheese was heaped on with sour cream. Green onions finished off the plate and the manhattan clam chowder was as expected; fresh and flavorful, Soon came the entrees, my girl had the beef, sausage and spinach sandwich, I had the crab imperial new york strip and our buddy had chicken wings. Since the establishment was a pub after all, we had the right expectations for the food. We weren't expecting any fancy garnishes or over the top plating, instead, we had good well prepared dishes that complimented our beers. My steak was done perfectly, succulent and just a tad over rare. The crab imperial that topped of the steak could have had more texture, but I wasn't expecting jumbo lump meat either. I was expecting pure white mashed potatoes, but received the rustic kind (with the skin), I would have loved a smothering of steak drippings on the potatoes or on the side, because the mash gets a bit dry when not eaten fast enough. My girl's sandwich was perfectly balanced, with provolone melting over the top, all the flavors mixing together with a hint of garlic. Fries on the side accompanied the single slice of pickle. We bummed some wings later on, and the sweet chilli sauce (extra) was a good call. Great place, great pub food, great service. We had a great time and the atmosphere was great- read more
