    sweet story

We met up with my man's sister and beau on our way to A.C., per their recommendation. I adored the cutie, Amos, who wrote what Im posting on back of the menu. He floated to each table with warm and interesting conversation. My French toast was good, but not stellar. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals more than me. Idk. O.J. wasn't freshly squeezed or even Tropicana quality. Gross bathroom. I'm took a video but feel badly posting it.

Charming is the best way to describe the ambiance of TW Howell's. From the street it looks like a small home. Tucked inside is maybe 8-10 tables so if you are stopping in on the weekend, prepare for a brief wait but they turn tables quickly and we felt the 15 minutes were well worth our time. The menu is small and offers the standard fare. Even better is the specials board. Make sure you take a gander because there are some real gems written in chalk letters. The grilled oatmeal sounded stellar and looked amazing. A neighboring table ordered it and I was prepared to follow in their footsteps until I learned of the orange marmalade stuffed French toast. It sounded like a winner so I went for it. Upon digging in I really appreciated the creaminess of the mascarpone and crispy grilled edges of the toast. Great textures. Nice flavor but seemed to lack that any strong citrus flavor. It was muted behind all that mascarpone cream. They could definitely adjust the ratio to give off more Orange but I really enjoyed it. It was in good company with the piping hot coffee that our server kept fresh and topped off for me. Definitely an establishment I'd return to again and again.

Just ok. Have eaten here several times before and was always impressed with the food, Had the breakfast burrito as shown this time and found it very bland. It was supposed to have bacon inside but it was so few and far between it was undetectable. Home fries had little to no seasoning. Coffee and service was the best part of the meal. Won't be back

My daughter goes to school in South Jersey so when I come to see her I like to take her to brunch. Each time I do I like to find the little, off the beaten trail places. TW Howell's was just that, & quite the find (thanks to Yelp)! The place is pretty small with about 10 counter seats & a few tables. It looks fairly worn inside but that is all part of the charm. You can tell this is one of those local places where everyone knows each other, however we did not feel out of place at all. We were immediately acknowledged by a very pleasant woman (presumably the owner). They have an impressive menu as well as blackboard specials. I decided on the honey chicken salad sandwich & my daughter, the crabmeat eggs benedict. To say the food was delicious was an understatement. Although the portions are quite huge, we both finished them. Prices are incredibly reasonable, especially considering the portions. I will definitely be returning in the future!

From the outside, the place looks like it gave up on glamour some time ago. No chrome spaceship, no neon promises. Just a building that knows what it is. Inside, however, it's 100% Jersey diner. A board announcing pie and pudding as if they were breaking news. Booths to the left. Counter seating for those who wish to face their breakfast directly. A dining room to the right for people who prefer a little distance from their eggs. My wife ordered eggs over easy with corned beef hash. I chose cream chipped beef over toast, a dish that has survived longer than many empires for reasons that become clear when you eat it. Both came with home fries and coffee. Everything tasted exactly as it should. The eggs behaved. The hash was honest. The chipped beef was comforting in the way only something slightly excessive can be. The coffee kept coming. The service was attentive and friendly without hovering like guilty conscience. We paid thirty five dollars with tip, which in this era feels almost like a mathematical error in our favor. Nothing here will astonish you. But it will feed you well, send you back out into the world a little steadier, and sometimes that is the highest calling a diner can have. Four stars feel right. Not because anything here changed my understanding of breakfast, but because it did't try to.

There were still empty tables when we arrived, but we were sat right next to another party so we could overhear their conversation. The menu items all sounded really tasty, so we were excited to try this place. I had an espresso martini which was so so. The server forgot 2 of our drinks and we had to remind her a few times. Once of us had tea and the teapot barely had enough water to submerge the tea bag. The long hots appetizer was inedible due to how overwhelmingly spicy it was with nothing else to accompany the peppers on the dish. I always eat really spicy food and for me to send this back is saying something. I did enjoy these eggplant that the bread came with though. The Caesar salad was pretty good and served with some Parmesan crisps. I had the gnocchi dish for my main course, and it was okay. I've had better vodka sauce and the braciole it was served with was a flank steak wrapped around a hard boiled egg and was very firm & chewy. It was my first time having braciole & I wouldn't get it again. I did sample some of the bolognese which was good. I also thought the caramel banana cheesecake and Italian cookies we had for dessert were tasty. They also serve brunch so I would like to go back and try that menu someday, but overall my experience was pretty good but not great. I'm not in a hurry to return.
