Just a long overdue update but still the same stars!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Gary's is about community, which means you will feel welcomed when you walk in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]NO GROUPS though not because groups aren't valued just because there is no room for large groups but the entire dining area is like one happy group.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Have to admit we were conversing almost immediately with the woman at the next table while staring hungrily at the amazing meal she and her children were enjoying.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She said, 'I came here all the time and ALWAYS get the catfish breakfast. ' Her comment and seeing how yummy it looked changed our plans Gary's philosophy has always been to treat customers like family. We are always on the search for excellent corn beef hash and travel a lot. Gary's home made corned beef hash is top tier!!!! Service was amazing and came with a smile. While visiting AC, I googled diners near me, saw Gary's, read the reviews and decided to check them out! This diner sits in a strip plaza. It's a small no frills spot that serves great food. My mom and I both enjoyed our meals! She had the seafood omelette with home fries and I decided to go a la carte, cheese grits, corn beef hash and home fries. The service was just ok. Our waiter was polite but not very attentive. I was always looking for him for coffee refills, condiments etc which is why I took off a star. I recommend giving them a try as I plan to return when I'm in the area again! read more

Wow. Just WOW! We were on our way back to the Philly area and were looking for an old-school diner for some "home cooked" breakfast fare. Gary's knocked it out of the park. From the excellent service to the Sweet Potato Pancakes, every bite was better than the last. The bacon was done perfectly, the grits were creamy and the omelette done right. We stopped to thank Gary on the way out and he's quite the business owner. His crew there is spot on and the chefs...just like Mama used to cook. TOP NOTCH DINER! I am from the south so I expect a LOT from a diner like this, and Gary's certainly did not disappoint. The sweet potato pancakes were absolutely delicious and that beef sausage link they have was wonderful. Quick efficient and friendly service, high quality food for a reasonable price. Wow! Wow! Finally my husband and I found a legit mom and pop Diner! We landed on this gem thanks to YELP We did an over night stay in Atlantic City ( never again) but as we headed home we wanted to grab breakfast. My hubby landed on this chorizo omelette that was legit the beat omelette I have ever had in my life! The home fries were perfection! Not greasy, not burned and just delicious The Avocado on top was so fresh! My food was delish too. I am regretting that I didn't get the exact same thing my hubby got, lucky for me he loves to share with his wife . My French toast was perfectly cooked! My scrambled eggs were delicious and they had Turkey bacon! The Turkey bacon was great and the coffee was strong according to my hubby! Stopped in for 145am breakfast.Fresh delicious food. 2 eggs over easy, perfectly cooked yokes warm and delicious, crisp bacon & link sausage, best breakfast sausage I've had since Ever. Coffee was fresh and bottomless, 3 cups. My server Mario was very polite and delivered everything very timely. Gary (Owner stopped by and said hello at the counter as I was alone. Amazing breakfast spot right outside Atlantic City. Stopped here on my way out of Atlantic City on my way to the airport, so great location. I got a couple of plates to get the full experience. Everything was very fresh and obviously homemade including the gravy and biscuits. Homefries were easily the best in town and French toast was beautifully made. Timely food and good service. What more could you ask for from a breakfast diner joint that has history. Get there early or be prepared to wait. Fills up pretty fast and so happens that the day we went there was a family that was having a reunion trip to AC so about 20 seats were already taken by one group. I assume that that would be common in the area considering the nostalgia of the place. I dropped the star because I wasn't a fan of the biscuits and gravy. Then again tastes subjective that's why I left it at 4 starts. There was more gravy and biscuits than sausage. Which can be expected but I think they really skimped on the sausage. Could have just been that day or one off but I'd give it a try again. Perhaps next time I'll just go for something else though. read more

I was skeptical on this restaurant because there were only 50 or less Yelp reviews . How ever this restaurant is a hidden gem . The breakfast was delicious and fresh . I was down in Atlantic city for my cousin bachelorette party, So it was 15 of us . I commend the restaurant for accommodating all of us to dine in to eat . ( being though we are in a pandemic with in door dining restrictions and the restaurant was small ) However the owner worked his magic and we were all able to be seated and eat breakfast. I ordered the salmon cake with home fries , onions and peppers , and scrambled eggs with cheese. Which I added alil hot sauce to my meal and it was delicious. The prices are also very reasonable. The gals at my table ordered pancakes , French toast , eggs and bacon . In their opinion their meals were delicious and fresh as well . Went out to lunch with our usual lunch time crew. I had a hankering for a breakfast/lunch and Gary's seemed like it would fit the bill. After I got there though I was torn between the Tuna Melt and the Seafood Omelette special. I'm glad that I went with the Seafood Omelette special because it was delicious. Crab meat, shrimp, and mozzarella cheese topped with hollandaise sauce. The crab meat and shrimp were plentiful and the Omelette itself was cooked perfectly, nice and moist. The hollandaise sauce was also tasty. The homefries were good, but nothing overly special. It also came with toast. Everyone seemed to like their meal. Apple Cinnamon pancakes that was only eaten a third of because of it's size, Eggs Benedict with crab, ham and cheese sandwich with soup and mac and cheese, chorizo quesadilla, and waffles and chicken wings. The service was very good. Gary greeted us at the door and found us a table for 6. The waitresses were quick and allowed us to get separate checks.
