TLDR: EAT HERE OR YOU'LL MISS OUT! On our way back to Philly from AC we stopped by this quaint breakfast spot I found on Yelp. 4.5 reviews and no slot machines or casino overstimulation, count me in! SO glad we stopped. 4 people ahead of us and we were seated in maybe 15 minutes. Our server Lindsay greeted us warmly. She was so friendly and had me at "pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes with house made cinnamon butter". WOWZERS those babies were thick like me! Delicious (also like me!). All of the food was excellent and you can expect hearty servings! This is a family owned and run business. Coco is the chef and a one man show in the kitchen. Let me tell you that we got our food faster here than we did at a casino restaurant the night before where they have a full kitchen staff. Food is excellent! Service is excellent! This is the 2nd time I've eaten here and the 1st time to review. A classic little breakfast spot right in our own backyard! It's a tiny place filled to the brim with people and stuff. I had "The Crackin" which was a tasty breakfast sandwich with egg, american cheese, bacon and home fries on a Kaiser roll. My friend had a breakfast platter with 2 eggs, bacon, home fries and toast. Everything thing was hot, fresh and delicious. We both had a nice cup of coffee as well. Service was kind and very attentive. The bill was only $23. I literally did a double take. What a bargain! Amazing brunch place and enjoyed the counter top seats and watched the cook flipped pancakes and eggs like a carnival show. Had to give the Cracked Egg Cafe after seeing the positive reviews of this breakfast joint. The Food: I went with "The Breakfast Binge" as my entree with a side of scrapple. Firstly, the portions are huge! When I first saw the plate, there was so much on the plate! The proteins were cooked nicely and the eggs were cooked very well. Not over done or dry at all. The homefries were cooked with a nice crisp/soft ratio too. The Service: Service was great! Staff were friendly and attentive. No complaints. To pay, you just go up to the register. The Atmosphere: Its a nice and small cafe. You're met with the hosts outside to be seated, and depending what's available (Outdoor, bar or tables) you'll be brought in. Overall, a 5/5. Stopped in around 11am on Friday morning. The restaurant was packed which is good sign. Sat at the counter and watched the cook work tirelessly to prepare the orders. The downfall was our waitress an older lady who complained the whole time and obviously didn't want to wait on us. The cook even served our food. She never once asked if everything was OK or if we needed anything? Just acted like we weren't there. The food was good, and the other two waitresses serviced they're tables very well. We stopped in while traveling after reading many positive reviews. The food was fine and the staff was friendly but it was a little overhyped IMO. The location is at what appears to be a long stay motel and when we exited car my wife had a resident staring at her which made her uncomfortable. The parking area in the front of the restaurant was full so we verified we were parked correctly when entering, thinking that might be why she was being stared at. The restaurant was small with a lot of knick-knacks. Comfortable but not fancy. The food was good but wasn't beyond what I would have expected. It didn't all arrive at the same time, some toast was dropped and had to be remade and there was a delay with some other items. I ordered the make-your-own-sandwich to go (sausage, 2 scrambled eggs & provolone on an everything bagel. This place was packed at 10am. There were probably 20 seats max, but the wait for people didn't seem bad. I needed to head on the road, so I needed my bagel fix, and this sounded like the spot. The staff, I would say, seems stressed out even though there seems to be at least 2-3 of them for the few tables. The rudest was this lady, but I'm not dining in, so I would feel bad for those she was waiting on. The one guy who knew what he was doing and seemed to be managing everything, including having to jump on the line to cook, was amazing. Too bad I didn't get to get his name. If this place falls apart, it would definitely be poor customer service, with the exception of that one guy who may have been the owner. Now for my bagel, it was yum. They did forget to put the ketchup I asked for specifically, but I didn't bother. The sausage was nice, the eggs were fluffy, the provolone was melted, and the bagel was Overall, yum! For a little over $9, it's a bit high if you think of what you can get at a local bagel joint but got to support these hidden gems! Overall, I might be back next time if I'm in the area. I enjoyed everything about The Cracked Egg Cafe. I invite everyone to give this restaurant a try. The instant I walked in, I was transported to what I have always imagined a small cafe must have been like in the 1950's small town U.S.A. Even though every employee was hustling, they all took the tike to greet me and my family with a warm welcome. I noticed that when their regular customers left that the employees wished them a good day by the customers' first names. The whole atmosphere was comfortable, and I also have to describe it as, "cute". The employees are a mix of generations that work well together, everyone pulls their weight, and they do it all with a smile. The menu is just right, not too small and not too big. We all had breakfasts that consisted of eggs, pancakes, French Toast, home fries, bacon, pork roll, ham, sausage, toast, and English muffins. Everyone one of us enjoyed everything we ordered. I had the eggs that I ordered over easy, and although I enjoyed them throughly, I definitely had a little French Toast and Pancake envy. I'll be making as many return trips as I can, so I can try other items off the menu. My hat is off to the owner and his staff. The fries were tasty, and the burger was decent. The waffle was light and airy but lacked any distinctive flavor that would make me want to return. The pancakes were undercooked and had to be sent back. Unfortunately, the service was even more disappointing. The waitress's attitude was unwelcoming and left a very negative impression. After speaking with management, I left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. Basic food at best, paired with service that left me questioning whether everyone is treated equally. My family and I visited from Baltimore over the weekend to celebrate my daughter's birthday. As we were heading out of town, we decided to stop at The Cracked Egg Cafe based on the great reviews. While the food ranged from fair to good, the service was extremely disappointing. Our server showed little engagement and attentiveness compared to how other tables were treated. We initially chose to overlook it and enjoy our meal, but when one of the dishes wasn't to our liking, we asked to exchange it for something else. At that point, the server's tone became noticeably rude and condescending, making the situation uncomfortable and disrespectful. When we finished our meal, I brought my concerns to the manager/owner. Rather than listening to my feedback, he told me to "calm down" and said he didn't need the attitude; completely disregarding my frustration and failing to address the behavior of his staff. As a Black man, I couldn't help but feel that our treatment stood in stark contrast to that of others in the restaurant. The entire experience left a deeply disappointing impression, especially given the positive reputation that brought us there in the first place. read more

The owner is behind the counter throwing down tasty food and every single staff member that we encountered was wonderful and extremely friendly. Just a fabulous place for home cooked food. We got one breakfast and one lunch. There wasn't anything on either of our plates that wasn't delicious. I will sing like a canary about this place to anyone heading to NJ/Atlantic City area. Went here last two years when on vacations and old owners were excellent. Wish they were still there. NEW OWNERS NOW. BEWARE. Not accomodating for customer with dairy allergy. Just wanted french toast but batter was pre-made with milk. All they have to do is break two eggs and dip bread in and cook on grill free of butter. Not difficult. Waitress,who has absolutely no personality, didn't really care. Her comment was we only have one cook. Asked cook and he said he couldn't do it. Then the cook told waitress as we were walking out "if they want that they are in wrong place." Hey you sell t-shirts that should be your new slogan. Buddy,you need to be concerned about your customers and their asks. We won't be back and neither should other customers. Bye bye. Went 1.5 miles awqy the Phoenix Diner on Rt. 30.
