We absolutely love Tonno Wakefield! We usually go for happy hour for their dollar oysters and discounted apps but almost always stay for dinner, whether that was the intention or not! Their rotating specials are usually amazing but their staple entries on the menu are fantastic too. The Burrata changes seasonally but is always a good go to app, and the bolognese is a solid staple. Their cocktails are so yummy, I think the latest was a pistachio martini with pistachio ice cream in it (drool!!), and they usually have froze in the summers. We also love their outdoor patio, but inside is very nice too! 10/10 would recommend Tonno to anyone in the area! read more

When we went to Tonno it was relatively new it still is but the place is great. It's much bigger than it looks it was winter but they had the fake fire pit type things outside and I can only imagine how nice it'll be there in the warm weather. We made reservations and were seated promptly. We ordered our drinks both non alcoholic as we're non drinkers then waitress brought us bread and menus. We ordered appetizers my wife got some type of salad with I think fruit in it she said it was incredible. I got crab cake to share and although it wasn't on menu they accommodated me and made me an order of shrimp scampi appetizer which was phenomenal so glad they made it. Crab cake was delicious also my wife and I both had some. For main course we both got steak she got the special with broccoli rabe and roasted potatoes which in hindsight I should've got it was NY Strip. I got the Porterhouse with roasted potatoes wasn't nearly as good as hers. Still all in all a good meal and will definitely be back read more

The Tuna Tartare, Crudo (bluefin Tuna) was amazing , Grilled Shrimp & grilled polenta on tomatoes- the best!, Tuna steak special-extra rare request, on puréed leeks was perfect -enough for 2 ppl @ 10 oz, Filet Mignon 8 oz, on puréed roast corn & cherry butter - google eyes!. After the 2nd time visiting Tonno, (to give them another shot), we still experienced the either OVER seasoned and or UNDER SEASONED food. The place is BEAUTIFUL, but Ridiculously loud, and INCREDIBLY Expensive for what you GET. The bartender was VERY nice and helpful, but was hoping for a comped item, or a drink AFTER I told her that the Stewed Clam dish with the white beans tasted like the salt shaker Cap came off when seasoning it. The YOUNG skinny manager with the dark hair was walking back and forth behind the bar touching his nose and face, and digging In his hair for a good 5 minutes. You're a MANAGER. Went to Tonno Wakefield last night specifically for $1 oysters. They do not advertise on their website the time frame that they have $1 oysters so we looked on their Instagram page and their last post about it was May 2022 that said $1 Oysters from 4-530. We were seated at 5:07 pm and the specials menu stated that the $1 oysters were from 4-5pm. A few minutes later our waitress (tall, blonde, and a lack of personality) came over and we inquired if the time had changed. And she stated "no it's always been 4-5pm" and did not seem to care about our disappointment so we didn't even bother mentioned that it had been previously advertised 4-530pm. She asked what we wanted to drink but we weren't quite ready yet, she poured our ice water and someone dropped some bread off. She then came back a few minutes later and we ordered two drinks. She left to put them in. At least 15 mins we did not have our drinks yet. She came back over and asked if we wanted to put in some food while our drinks are being made... how were our drinks still being made!!!? We ordered two apps which both came out in a timely manner but BEFORE our drinks even got to our table.. which means it probably took at least 30 mins for our drinks to arrive. We had our apps which were delicious. We held off on ordering our entrees because we weren't sure how hungry we would be. When we finished our apps she came back over and we orders our dinners. Two pasta dishes and a side of garlic bread. She specifically asked if we would like the garlic bread now or with our dinners and we asked for it with our dinners. About 15 mins later the garlic bread came out... We figured our food wouldn't be far behind so we waited to eat the garlic bread even though we wanted to enjoy it hot and with our meals which is why we requested it to come with our meals. So much time went by that we started eating the garlic bread so we could at least enjoy it when it was like warm. We probably ordered our food around if not before 6pm.. our waitress came over multiple times filling our waters, bringing drinks.. at 630pm at asked if our food would be out soon. She said nothing other that "mhmm" with a flat face and walked away. 5 mins later she came over and said I just checked on your food it should be right out. It did not come for another 10 mins at 645pm! At least 45 mins after we ordered if not longer! I understand that places are busy and understaffed but acknowledging that would have been more appropriate that ignoring the fact that our food took over 45 mins to come out! We spent over $200 for two people and expect much better service than that! Truthfully don't know if I will ever be back. read more

Good drinks and good service but the food was so sub-par and underwhelming. My Nonna came here straight from Sicily so we are spoiled in the Italian food department for sure... but even if we weren't I have a feeling I would still feel this way. Food was very bland, presentation wasn't even nice... heard great things so I was very thrown off. Arancini were literally just fried rice balls with nothing inside? True arancini are stuffed with rice and a meat sauce with pees and mozzarella? I was soooo confused... My wife and I visited Tonno tonight for the first time and it was fantastic. We had a drink at the bar before dinner and the bar tender was very attentive. Sarah was our server once we sat down and she was excellent - gave us great advice on our entrees and we had some really nice conversation. I had the pork chop with vinegar peppers and potatoes and my wife had the Cod. The pork chop was unbelievable. We will be back for sure! read more

I went to Tonno for the first time last night with a group of friends for dinner and drinks. The lemon frose was amazing as well as my captains Joe's lobster special. What made the night memorable was our incredible waitress Mackenzie! I can't say enough good things about this woman! She was attentive, personable, and made us feel like we were her only (and favorite) table all night. She gave us her honest opinions and steered us all in the right direction for food and drink options the whole night. First time in this restaurant as we make an effort to support local. OMG. The food was incredibly tasty. This is coming from a first generation Canadian who's parents are fresh off the boat. I never go out for Italian food. I wanted to taste everything on the menu. I had the lamb shank and it was the best lamb I have ever tasted. My husband had the pork and he loved it. Finally a place that knows food! The service was incredible, attentive and friendly Sarah K was her name and obviously knows her business. This was our first visit. It was only okay. It's very loud which is distracting. The food was just okay. I got the chicken and it was nothing special. I was disappointed that I told them we were celebrating a birthday and they did nothing, not even a small dessert. Plus they deliver beer in cans and drop them at the table with a glass but don't bother to fill out for you. The staff could be better to class up the joint. The oysters were the highlight of the meal and our server was kind but not equipped to give the kind of service that I think this restaurant is going for. During this difficult and complicated time for restaurants, Tonno hit it out of the park Saturday night. From the moment you walked in you felt comfortable. We started with the tuna tartar which was fresh and seasoned perfectly. The octopus appetizer was spicy and perfectly cooked. The Farro was a great addition to that plate. The calamari appetizer was good complete with spicy oil and spicy peppers. Delicious. The wine by the glass, $10.00, was dry and delicious. We couldn't have asked for better service. This was the best meal the four of us have had in a long time. Portions are not small as others have suggested, in fact, they were very generous. The tuna tartar and crab cake appetizers were favorites at our table. Tuna steak special, bolognese, swordfish and shrimp fra diavolo were all outstanding. Is it a cheap night out? No, but the quality of the food was worth it to me. Interior design is very chic and beautifully done. Huge bar, outside seating and two gas fire pits. A friend recommended this place and it totally exceeded our expectations. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the gem lettuce with salami and it was so tasty and fresh. WOW! Tonno is quite a find. The facility is gorgeous. The staff was incredible! We had a small event for my father in laws 90 birthday. They couldn't have been more helpful with the arrangements. We visited for our first time. The weather was perfect for patio seating. Great service, friendly staff. Had a delicious drink called Doli Doli which is vodka infused with pineapple. So good! For apps we tried the crab cake which was excellent and the fried calamari which was the best we have ever had. It wasn't your typical served with tomato sauce, instead it was served with roasted red peppers and it was perfect. My husband had grilled swordfish served with potato, capers and olives. He said it was really good. I had their pasta dish served with pieces of lobster meat, asparagus, corn and tomatoes in a scampi sauce. It was delicious and something I've never had before. For dessert we had their mini cannolis with an orange flavored filling which were tasty. Overall we had a wonderful experience and left very full and happy. Can't wait to go back. read more

Went to Tonno recently with a friend for dinner. One of our first experiences out since March!! The drinks were amazing. Our server, Ashley, was knowledgeable, friendly and her recommendations impressed my friend (who is a total food snob ). Our food was delicious, the timing between courses was perfect, the drinks that were suggested paired well with our food. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was good, but not blown away for the cost. My swordfish dinner was really good, but my steak was seriously 3/8 of an inch thick. The staff is nice but they need to be more attentive to empty water glasses. The service was way too slow and the restaurant wasn't busy. Best meal you'll get North of Boston. My wife and I were back visiting the Boston area over Christmas and made reservations at Tonno and it far surpassed our high expectations. Felt in line with any top South End restaurant we've visited in our 10-plus years living in the city. The service was excellent and the food amazing. We ordered the Brussel Sprouts, Friend Clams, Tonno Steak, Tagliatelle (w/ meatballs, sausage and ribs) and were exceptionally pleased. This restaurant has the most amazing dishes! It's like a Boston date night in Wakefield! Everything was so good from the service,drinks,apps and food then we had to go back the next night! It's tough to get reservations so book early in the week!! We tried this place out recently. Walking in, the ambience and decor was much nicer and better manicured than many of the other places in Wakefield. I felt the food overall was also better than many of the other places in the area as well. The variety of menu options is nice, compared to the generic "mom and pop" Italian places. We got the bone marrow and smoked fish spread appetizers which were good. The toast for the bone marrow was significantly darker than the toast for the smoked fish, but it didn't taste burnt or anything. The homemade pasta was solid. The bolognese was solid as well, not the best, but solid. The pasta with seared "tonno" (tuna) was a little lacking to be honest, which is a let down because it carries the name of the restaurant. It had a bit of a fishy taste which reminds me of the prior frozen tuna that sits all day in the case with that unsettling green shiny shimmer. The ones that you get because its cheaper and think that it will be fine since you are going to sear it anyway. The sear was fine, but I've had better. Overall I liked the place and will definitely come back. I may not get the tuna again, but hope it improves in the future. It's nice to have a place like this closer to home, with plenty of unique things on the menu to explore in the future. The outside patio lounge area looks nice also. I definitely see us bringing friends and family there to chat and have a drink. read more
