I love Ace Hardware! Beautiful Caspari brand cocktail napkins in a variety of beautiful and artistic designs, perfect for elevating your entertaining game, can be found in the kitchen area. I'm all about cooking gadgets and they have lots! On this recent stop, I fell in love with the bamboo cooking and serving utensils, many with a subtle, yet interesting, tie dye style prints. The garden area has fun, whimsical yard art, lots of wind chimes, and really pretty hummingbird feeders along with flower & vegetable seeds, planters, gloves and tools. On this trip, I was looking for a small outdoor grill, but I need one that hooks up to natural gas. They include BBQ Grills in their name, but still no luck. I'll have to visit a store dedicated to BBQ grills to find one as I've tried the big box stores and smaller chains And came up with nothing. The store is clean, wide aisles, departments clearly marked, and products well stocked. Plus it's next to Trader Joe's for a 2-for.

While Ace was VERY pricey on the sprayers they had, they did have vwey reasonably priced soil, compost, fertilizer and river rock. This Ace location is very nice ans spacious. As soon as I walked in, EVERY employee at the front greeted me. Then asked if I could use help and took me exactly where I needed to be. I did end up buying something but I can't for the life of myself remember what it was now. But this Ace location is great!!

The…read morecontactless curbside pickup is amazing and I hope-wish they'd keep the service after the pandemic is over. It's so easy to order and pay online, wait a few minutes for the email telling you your order is ready, and jump in your car to pick up outside the store. We've done quite a bit of sprucing up around the house during COVID since there really isn't that much going on these days. Everything from replacing HVAC filters, to buying paint to repaint the master bathroom, to rejoicing when we found hard-to-find batteries for our Christmas tree lights remote, Ace Hardware has been there for us. We buy our bird feeding supplies at Ace too. I love how all the sales people are knowledgeable about REAL hardware items and issues. Like if you have a plumbing question/issue, someone actually knows the answer and has a solution. Truly amazing customer service. It's true, they aren't the cheapest hardware store and don't stock the biggest variety like the Big Box home stores, but they seem to have everything we need when we need it. Sometimes being close by and convenient is worth paying a tad more for. My husband always gets his "$5 off" coupon in the mail every few weeks and that's a plus ($5 is $5!!!) And just a personal note, I realize the pandemic is over for most people but I do wish masks were still required inside stores. One reason we do curbside is because many employees (and customers) aren't being as careful as they used to and for those of us with underlying health conditions, a mask and social distancing is still a way of life. Ace seems to be a little inconsistent in their COVID best practices. Overall, Ace is pretty OK in my book!

When I arrived at the paint counter and asked to have the cans shaken I was abruptly interrupted with a very rude "I won't shake up that can" by someone named Jaron. I was very taken aback by his rudeness since I've had many cans of previously opened paint shaken up there before. When I asked why (in total confusion) Jaron said "I don't want your paint all over my paint shaker". I was so confused at this point I moved on to ask for help with the can of paint I needed to purchase. Jaron was just incredibly rude and refused to help by being short and condescending. I picked out my own paint. I then asked to talk to Chris, the store manager and now I know exactly why the employees act like this at this store! Chris said "I am sorry you feel that way" and tried to justify Jaron's actions by stating thy someone's can of paint spilled in their shaker. I am not at all upset that ace no longer shakes up previously opened paint cans - that is perfectly within the store's right to decide and I was very clear with Chris on that!! I am, however, appalled at how rude Jaron was and how Chris didn't listen to my concern about Jaron's attitude and instead tried to justify it with an explanation of why they don't shake up cans anymore. I reiterated I wasn't upset that they don't shake up paint cans anymore and Chris repeated, "I'm sorry you feel that way!" The number one comment narcissists make is "I'm sorry you feel that way"! The first rule of customer service is to never blame the customer and that is exactly what Chris did with a narcissistic comment. I asked to speak to Bob, the owner but have not had a call yet. This store needs a new mgr (just read the reviews here - this is a pattern) and some education in customer service. Don't waste your time here! Take your business to Lowe's or Home Depot!

Customers wait outside the store, 6 feet apart on the clearly marked yellow Xs; there is a separate line for those picking up prepaid orders. They are limiting the number of customers in the store so once inside, it's easy to get what you need and check out. Note, they are taking credit cards only. Another great precaution they have implemented is that upon entering, everyone is asked to use the hand sanitizer they provide. Thank you, Pearl Hardware! Even though they are located in the Pearl, don't worry about finding or having to pay for street parking; they have their own small lot in front of the store making it super convenient for those of us not in walking distance. Yesterday I stopped in to pick up a 4-pack of aBlind Cord Wraps to keep my cords from banging against the window when the wind blows. Oh the problems I have! Amazing all the little "projects" I'm completing during these days of Quarantine. Or more accurately said, I'm seeking out projects since my house is spotless, appliances are sparkling inside and out, summer flowers have been planted, and closets and drawers have been "Marie Kondo'd" and then some. Pearl carries all of the regular hardware store merchandise and then some, especially in regards to houseware, garden decor and even some home decor items like candles, cloth napkins, trinkets. The variety in each department has more breadth and uniqueness, even whimsical and quirkiness, than your average hardware store. That speaks to me! Yesterday I was so bummed that I couldn't browse and touch and actually shop because as we all know, during the pandemic it's about getting what you need and leaving. Man, did this make me yearn for a day of shopping like in the old days, 2 months ago, pre-March 23, 2020. Paid for my item and left so another customer could enter the store. Going forward, I need to remember that every errand now requires waiting in line and I need to build that into my outing schedule. No more in, out, done. Covid-19 is teaching us Patience, among many other things, during this wake-up call to the world. Today I have at least 15 minutes accounted for on my wide open calendar as I install these blind cord wraps. Grateful.

The box even said in big, bold letters, DO NOT TRANSPORT OR STORE ON SIDE. You can severely damage a water heater, especially a gas one, by putting it on its side. It also voids the manufacturer warranty. You'd think Lowes would know that, but when we pointed this out to the driver and tried to refuse delivery, he shrugged, wouldn't take it back, and drove away. What if we hadn't been there to see the crazy transport and dumping?!? We wouldn't have known until catastrophe struck. So we called Lowes "customer service" for help, but they treated us like idiots, condescendingly telling us we didn't know what we were talking about regarding damage and voided warranties. They brushed off our complaints about the delivery driver, saying "That's how everyone does it these days." It's taken HOURS of calling to get them to agree to an exchange. Then they made us buy the replacement one because it's coming from a different store! Lowes Tigard won't refund us until they pick up the damaged one, but we're still waiting for them to schedule that... They also refused to refund the shipping, which seems incredibly petty when I'm out thousands. I also wouldn't be surprised if they put the damaged water heater right back on the shelf once they finally retrieve it. Don't ever buy from here! You may be getting a dangerously damaged product, and you won't know until it starts leaking water and gas.
