Google saves the day! Typically the employee responsible of that specific aisle, does not know the answer or have a clue of what I am looking for or trying to find. Google and YouTube works great for figuring out how to install or what part I need. The best thing Home Depot has done in the last year is update their app. Now when the app opens it locates what store you're in and tells you what aisle the product is located. GREAT! I guess this is because the associates do not know where things are? The bad part of this store is the over tilt to self check out. The Military discount codle is not on the app so you do not need to verify with an employee. Pretty soon, we will only have two workers in the store...LMAO

What's wrong with this store? None of the employees could help me and were very out of it and not with it.

I ordered a spare key online, and within about an hour, I received an email saying that my key was ready for pickup. When I arrived, the employee helping me told me that I needed an appointment to have the key programmed. This was my first time having a key made, so if the website or confirmation email had explained that an appointment was required, I absolutely would have made one ahead of time. Another employee then came over and, in a rather rude manner, told me to come back the next morning when another employee would be there to help me. Since it seemed that only one employee was trained to make and program keys, as well as handle the paint department, I was a little surprised that there wasn't someone else available, especially on a weekend. However, I was understanding and told them I would return the next morning when they opened. The next day, I returned and once again explained to a different employee why I was there and what I had been told the day before. Unfortunately, they had no idea what had happened and there seemed to be no communication about the situation. Fortunately, the employee who was able to make and program the keys was there. After waiting a few minutes, she made the key and was ready to program it--until we discovered that the tablet used for programming had died because it had not been put on the charger overnight. She told me we could wait for the tablet to charge, and I said that was completely fine. I could also see that customers were waiting for assistance in the paint department, so I didn't want to keep bothering her while she was busy. I ended up waiting for about an hour. At that point, the line of customers needing help in the paint department had grown, so I asked another available associate if they could check whether the tablet had charged. They came back and let me know that the battery level hadn't changed. At that point, I decided to leave. I had already been there for about an hour and a half, and I asked the associate if they could let the employee know that I would be returning for a THIRD time the following day. I also called a couple of hours later to make sure she knew I would be coming back and thanked her for her help. When I returned for the third time, the employee made sure the tablet was fully charged that morning and got right to work. She was very kind and apologetic about the fact that this had become my third attempt to get the key programmed. Her attitude was completely different from the other two employees, who seemed frustrated with me for not knowing that an appointment was required. I want to give the employee who ultimately helped me 5 stars. She was kind, patient, and did everything she could to finally get the job done. However, based on the overall experience and the lack of clear communication about the appointment requirement, I would give the experience and website communication 2 stars. If the website or confirmation email had clearly explained that an appointment was required, and if there had been better communication between employees, this could have been a much smoother experience.

The Progress Ridge Ace Hardware store has been a life saver for us during the pandemic. The…read morecontactless curbside pickup is amazing and I hope-wish they'd keep the service after the pandemic is over. It's so easy to order and pay online, wait a few minutes for the email telling you your order is ready, and jump in your car to pick up outside the store. We've done quite a bit of sprucing up around the house during COVID since there really isn't that much going on these days. Everything from replacing HVAC filters, to buying paint to repaint the master bathroom, to rejoicing when we found hard-to-find batteries for our Christmas tree lights remote, Ace Hardware has been there for us. We buy our bird feeding supplies at Ace too. I love how all the sales people are knowledgeable about REAL hardware items and issues. Like if you have a plumbing question/issue, someone actually knows the answer and has a solution. Truly amazing customer service. It's true, they aren't the cheapest hardware store and don't stock the biggest variety like the Big Box home stores, but they seem to have everything we need when we need it. Sometimes being close by and convenient is worth paying a tad more for. My husband always gets his "$5 off" coupon in the mail every few weeks and that's a plus ($5 is $5!!!) And just a personal note, I realize the pandemic is over for most people but I do wish masks were still required inside stores. One reason we do curbside is because many employees (and customers) aren't being as careful as they used to and for those of us with underlying health conditions, a mask and social distancing is still a way of life. Ace seems to be a little inconsistent in their COVID best practices. Overall, Ace is pretty OK in my book!

The staff is nice, pleasant but in comparison to the Tigard store, this one is bare, harder to find things and just not as well organized. Ace is pricey, you're not going to get THE best value on most items but that's okay if you are in a rush or have an emergency. But you will OCCASIONALLY find a real deal. It's just not often lol. It's convenient but definitely not my #1 choice for Home Improvement.

Additionally, everyone working at the store is so nice! They seem genuinely happy to help problem solve or explain. A few years ago the incoming waterline to my house was broken on the Friday afternoon before Christmas - we had to turn the water off at the street. Unfortunately getting a plumber to come out was not going to be feasible and we didn't want to go without water all weekend. We popped on down to Ace with some pictures and someone helped us pick out a solution that would allow us to have our water on until a plumber could come out. In fact, we were going to purchase extra parts and return what we didn't need later, but the guy helping us was doing his best to trim down our order so it was a cheap as possible (I guess to help save money for Christmas). We actually live a lot closer to the Hillsboro Ace, but I prefer to go out of my way to this location.

This store carries all the typical items found at hardware stores including paint, plumbing and electrical merchandise in addition to lawn and garden. With a few exceptions, the employees are all knowledgeable and welcoming. There are two downsides to shopping here. The prices are a bit higher than their competitors and they have somewhat limited hours of operation, closing early and only open 12-5 on Sunday. But overall it's a nice local store.

The box even said in big, bold letters, DO NOT TRANSPORT OR STORE ON SIDE. You can severely damage a water heater, especially a gas one, by putting it on its side. It also voids the manufacturer warranty. You'd think Lowes would know that, but when we pointed this out to the driver and tried to refuse delivery, he shrugged, wouldn't take it back, and drove away. What if we hadn't been there to see the crazy transport and dumping?!? We wouldn't have known until catastrophe struck. So we called Lowes "customer service" for help, but they treated us like idiots, condescendingly telling us we didn't know what we were talking about regarding damage and voided warranties. They brushed off our complaints about the delivery driver, saying "That's how everyone does it these days." It's taken HOURS of calling to get them to agree to an exchange. Then they made us buy the replacement one because it's coming from a different store! Lowes Tigard won't refund us until they pick up the damaged one, but we're still waiting for them to schedule that... They also refused to refund the shipping, which seems incredibly petty when I'm out thousands. I also wouldn't be surprised if they put the damaged water heater right back on the shelf once they finally retrieve it. Don't ever buy from here! You may be getting a dangerously damaged product, and you won't know until it starts leaking water and gas.
