We had taken out a number of trees in our yard and wanted a large tree that can be a focus for the front of the house. It was wonderful to be able to call Big Trees and set a time to see their trees. Daniel took us around and also helped us as we considered several types of trees. We determined that a Somerset Red Maple would be large enough and that it would be relatively easy on yard maintenance. The tour helped us decide that we really needed a tall (30' feet) to enjoy in the next few years. Big Trees was excellent at setting up a date and delivering the tree. It was amazing just to watch the equipment as they dug the hole and planted the tree (see pictures). Now we just need to follow their directions. Felix and the staff planting the tree were easy to work with. They helpled take down and reinstall part of our fence and they cleaned upt he site very well. read more

Today my wife and I got our new Japanese Snowbell tree from Big Trees Today, the very one we picked out in person at their large nursery property out in Hillsboro. We could not be happier! Not only was the selection and variety of trees fantastic, the professional advice we got from beginning to end of the process was on point and so helpful. From the initial visit being driven around the property on a golf cart to find the right tree, to the foreman's pre-planting visit, to the planting crew themselves, the entire experience was flawless. Everyone we encountered from BTT gave amazing service, had good humor, excellent communications, and took an above-and-beyond approach. Our new tree looks amazing and we are truly over the moon about it. Cannot recommend this company highly enough! read more

From Start to Finish everyone at Big Trees Today were professional and kind! Our project was a bit of a challenge because to the topography, and I was worried for a bit we would not get the screening needed. We can't thank Daniel, Rebecca, Cole, and specially Felix and his crew enough for making it happen; we are so thrilled to have our big trees planted. So grateful! Loretta read more

We couldn't be happier with the advice, expertise, quality, follow-through and follow-up by all the people at Big Trees, from the owner, office staff to the planting crew. I want to emphasize how good the planting crew was in their care of positioning the tree and finally putting it in the ground and cleaning up. Wonderful people! The tree itself, a fernleaf full moon maple, is perfectly shaped and couldn't have fit better into the spot where it replaced a vine maple that succumbed to the elements. The new tree is worth every penny we paid. Thank you everyone. read more

If you want a mature tree to arrive, planted, and instantly growing on your property, this is the place to order it. They don't just sell you a tree, they help you select the one most likely to thrive in your geographic environment. (We initially requested Bowmer maples, Dan suggested Armstrong maples as being more consistent, better suited to central Oregon, and more spire-like.) The plant crew is super efficient and instructions for getting the trees established are easy. Good company - read more

They made the purchasing process super easy. I had to plant a tree to replace one removed from my property in Multnomah County, they knew the requirements already. Not knowing anything about what is a good choice, their expertise was very appreciated. The team that came to plant it made quick work of it and left my area very clean afterwards. They provided me with care instructions and I'm vary satisfied with the results. read more

Excellent service. knowledgeable help. Delivery right on time. I'm very happy with my experience.

This Camperdown Elm was planted for the fall. This summer it should grow and match the one on the opposite side of the house. The Gold Rider Cypress along the center fencing was planted in place of 14 foot tall hedges. The Gold Rider Cypress will reach 35 feet in height, and can be 15 feet across. Cole Graham suggested these for the front of the house. The guys are great and efficient in the process of planting trees. We went in, road around on the golf cart, found and tagged the trees we desired and like magic they were pulled and planted at our house. The process is quick and easy. Or at least Cole makes it that way. We are very happy with the trees and the process. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Big Trees Today. Everyone I talked to was extremely kind and helpful throughout the sales and transplanting process, and my new Northern Red Oak looks great! It's absolutely worth the money to spring for a more mature tree when replacing trees in highly visible areas like the front of your house. read more

We lost three trees last February due to an ice storm. W We wanted to replace them with more mature trees than you can get at a nursery. We told them what we were looking for and the owner took us out to see them and we chose the ones we wanted. About six weeks later they arrived. The anticipation waiting for them was like Christmas! We chose a Red Bud, June Snow Dogwood and a Crape Myrtle. Included a pic of the Dogwood in full bloom. read more

We toured the large selection of trees at Big Trees Today and found a very hard to find oak tree (Shumard oak) and they planted it for us. This was quite pricey but we are thrilled to have a bigger tree, especially for the shade as summers get warmer in this area. It was comforting to know they guarantee the tree and have an extremely high success rate (98%?). Everyone we talked to was super helpful and nice, and we can recommend this group highly. read more

Just wow. I recently lost my 15-foot maple that came with the house I purchased in February to verticillium wilt which I was told lives in the soil for years and is almost always terminal. The tree service I used recommended Big Trees for their nursery of mature trees for my shade starved lawn. Hillsboro is a considerable 40-mile drive from my house, but I got an estimate of over $2k for a 20-foot tricolor beech to be delivered, planted and guaranteed so I wanted to at least see it in person before investing that much in flora. Cole and Dan both answer email promptly and are super helpful, friendly and knowledgeable which is so key with a gardening idiot like me. Cole welcomed me and showed me what I had placed a deposit for. It can't be transported until it's safer to in a dormant state but I'm sure I am investing my money wisely in something beautiful that will impart tranquility when I look out the windows for the years to come. read more

I would highly recommend Big Trees Today to anyone looking for a good quality, large sized and fairly priced tree. I live in Salem, OR, and was looking to have a good sized tree planted in the front of my house to replace a city tree that had been cut down (didn't really want to wait years to have the city come back and grind the stump and plant a new tree). I am so grateful to have found Big Trees Today! My husband and I drove up to their tree farm, and were very impressed by the amount of and the variety of the trees that they had there! They are knowledgable and very nice to interact with, even the crew that came out to plant the tree was so awesome & friendly! I feel like finding this company was a blessing for me & my husband, and we will cherish our beautiful new Scarlet Oak Tree (we look forward to watching it grow over the years, and eventually produce acorns for the squirrels that we have in our neighborhood). If you or someone you know are in the market for trees, please consider giving Big Trees Today a call and schedule a trip to their tree farm, trust me, you will NOT be disappointed. read more

These guys are great! Such a pleasure to work with. We had to purchase a new street tree in Hillsboro and it was kind of nightmare to find a landscaper who knows anything about the root barrier requirements. We came out to Big Trees Today and ended up purchasing a tree on the spot. Literally everyone I've spoken to while doing business with them has been super nice and super friendly and happy to explain anything and answer any questions. If only they did more than trees (haha). Our new Pacific Sunset Maple is a beauty! read more

They did not advise against the crooked tree that I picked out. It was young enough that the slight kink in the trunk looked insignificant. It gets more and more crooked looking every year. If they were honest about it, they would have advised me not to buy this one. Otherwise, the service was great, they did a nice job planting it, just that it's a signature tree on my property and it's crooked. X read more

Big Trees Today is class act operated people who not only know trees, but genuinely care about the customers who depend on them for guidance when choosing a large tree. Our experience was great...from the first time we visited the nursery and Cole patiently took us through the trees (we picked two and made a down payment), to the second time a week later when we visited the nursery again because we weren't sure of our purchase and Dan patiently walked us through the nursery (again) and looked a several more trees (we kept our original purchase) to Felix and crew who delivered and planted the trees. I highly recommend Big Trees Today and would not hesitate to buy from them again. read more

Big Trees now planted a 30' Western Red Cedar and 4 other 12' Cedar and Hemlock trees to help create a natural border between our new home and our neighbor's house. On the day of the planting, they showed up on time and completed the planting, as planned, with no issues. We couldn't be happier with the results. Big Trees Today is an extraordinary company. It is easy to have great customer service when everything is going well, but it takes dedication and commitment to have great customer service when there is a problem. I went to Big Trees Today and they helped me select a tree. They really know their trees and can guide you with which tree will be just right for your yard. I selected a beautiful Sugar Maple. Over the next three years my tree did not thrive. Big Trees Today supported me throughout the entire time. They always answered my emails and even came out to personally evaluate my tree three different times. In the end they replaced the tree at no coast to me. Because trees are living things there will always be a small percentage of failure when transplanting, but at Big Trees Today their 40+ years of experience makes this a very small occurrence and if there is a problem they stand by their trees. I cannot recommend them enough. read more

I can't say enough good things about Big Trees Today. We wanted a statement tree for the front of our house that would look like it was planted years ago. We drove out to Big Trees Today to just look around and the owner took us out to see all the trees which might fit our needs. We were so impressed that we bought a tree before leaving their lot. A 12 X 14' Fern Leaf Full Moon Japanese Maple. It was planted last week and we were very impressed with the crew who came out. They were very professional and very careful to plant the tree exactly as it had been growing in their fields. It looks absolutely gorgeous and it feels like it has been growing there for years. The crew leader gave us very explicit instructions on how to care for our tree for the next year and the years to come. We are totally satisfied. read more

This place is awesome!!! They really do live up to their name and have a huge variety of Big Trees. When my wife and I purchased our second home we knew we would eventually need to do some landscaping and privacy screening; classy and elegant trees were at the top of our list. The trees Dan (the owner) provided us not only exceeded our expectations with the service he and his crew provided, but we are reminded of what a wonderful purchase we made every time we glance in the backyard and see one of their trees. We purchased two Camellias (camellia japonica 'Colonel Firey') a few months ago and had Dan's crew plant them in our home. I'm just an average vegetable-garden type of guy so having Dan's crew plant the trees was definitely worth it given the task at hand. The detailed watering and care instructions they left us were easy to follow. You'll see that I marked the review as $$$. Buying a tree that has been so well taken care of by a local company over many years can't be cheap, but it's worth every penny. If you are looking for a cheap tree that couldn't possibly have received the necessary attention it deserves, then go to a big box home improvement or garden store. For quality trees that are carefully taken care of, as evidenced by their nursery, then definitely check out Big Trees Today. I look forward to next spring when they will flower once again and we can enjoy their sweet fragrance. We will surely keep Dan in mind the next time we need a mature tree. Feel free to message me if you want to talk more. read more
