We had taken out a number of trees in our yard and wanted a large tree that can be a focus for the front of the house. It was wonderful to be able to call Big Trees and set a time to see their trees. Daniel took us around and also helped us as we considered several types of trees. We determined that a Somerset Red Maple would be large enough and that it would be relatively easy on yard maintenance. The tour helped us decide that we really needed a tall (30' feet) to enjoy in the next few years. Big Trees was excellent at setting up a date and delivering the tree. It was amazing just to watch the equipment as they dug the hole and planted the tree (see pictures). Now we just need to follow their directions. Felix and the staff planting the tree were easy to work with. They helpled take down and reinstall part of our fence and they cleaned upt he site very well. read more

This Camperdown Elm was planted for the fall. This summer it should grow and match the one on the opposite side of the house. The Gold Rider Cypress along the center fencing was planted in place of 14 foot tall hedges. The Gold Rider Cypress will reach 35 feet in height, and can be 15 feet across. Cole Graham suggested these for the front of the house. The guys are great and efficient in the process of planting trees. We went in, road around on the golf cart, found and tagged the trees we desired and like magic they were pulled and planted at our house. The process is quick and easy. Just wow. I recently lost my 15-foot maple that came with the house I purchased in February to verticillium wilt which I was told lives in the soil for years and is almost always terminal. The tree service I used recommended Big Trees for their nursery of mature trees for my shade starved lawn. Hillsboro is a considerable 40-mile drive from my house, but I got an estimate of over $2k for a 20-foot tricolor beech to be delivered, planted and guaranteed so I wanted to at least see it in person before investing that much in flora. Cole and Dan both answer email promptly and are super helpful, friendly and knowledgeable which is so key with a gardening idiot like me. Cole welcomed me and showed me what I had placed a deposit for. Over the next three years my tree did not thrive. Big Trees Today supported me throughout the entire time. This place is awesome!!! They really do live up to their name and have a huge variety of Big Trees. When my wife and I purchased our second home we knew we would eventually need to do some landscaping and privacy screening; classy and elegant trees were at the top of our list. The trees Dan (the owner) provided us not only exceeded our expectations with the service he and his crew provided, but we are reminded of what a wonderful purchase we made every time we glance in the backyard and see one of their trees. We purchased two Camellias (camellia japonica 'Colonel Firey') a few months ago and had Dan's crew plant them in our home. I'm just an average vegetable-garden type of guy so having Dan's crew plant the trees was definitely worth it given the task at hand. The detailed watering and care instructions they left us were easy to follow. You'll see that I marked the review as $$$. Buying a tree that has been so well taken care of by a local company over many years can't be cheap, but it's worth every penny. If you are looking for a cheap tree that couldn't possibly have received the necessary attention it deserves, then go to a big box home improvement or garden store. We walked around and looked at beautiful specimens, some which you can't find anywhere--like a TriColor Beech tree?! Cole was so knowledgeable about the requirements and ultimate size and growth patterns of the trees. (We've spent a fortune taking out the wrong trees on our property, so this expertise will save you in the long run!) .
