I've only been to a handful of Plant nurseries, but this is definitely one of the prettiest. The grounds are massive and they have pretty much anything I would need, although I would not classify myself as an advanced gardener. On top of that on weekends they even have food carts in the center atrium, so you can pick up food and sit or walk around the grounds. We recently took an herb class here, and I would highly recommend it. Not only do you walk away with a big container of 4 different herbs of your choice. The staff, Jay, running the class is very friendly and knowledgeable. Depending on what other classes they have, we'll definitely be back to try them. read more

Farmington Gardens has always been my go-to nursery. But this year, their focus is less on the plants and plant availability and more on commercial trappings like events, the new marketplace, food trucks, and silly social media posts. The property has suffered - the interior spaces has declined and the plants on many occasions this spring have been overwatered and look poorly. The rewards program has been cut to next to nothing. I'm very disappointed and will be looking at other nurseries. read more

Good selection and service. We dropped by last weekend to see about blueberry bushes. We had no clue there were so many types, but an employee was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, getting us set up with what we really wanted. We bought our pots and soil there as well, which were definitely higher priced compared to what we'd have paid at a big box store. But, getting real help is worth spending a bit more. A beautiful nursery that inspires! Even if I don't need plants, I love to stop in just to walk the grounds and check out the indoor plant and garden space. I love being immersed in the equity if the lush greenery and pops of color! They always have a fabulous selection of thriving and healthy plants. My favorite time here is May when all the colorful annuals are out and the perennials are in bloom. It's really magical. They have all the usual suspects to fill your planters and window boxes - geraniums, mums, trailing vinca, pansies, bright gerbera daisies, impatiens, spikes, coleus, lobeli, bacopia - but many unique varieties as well. Their tuberous begonia are beautiful and the perfect pop of color for shady spots. Bright yellow, orange, pink, red and white varieties that bloom all summer into fall up to the first frost. I especially like and always buy the bright orange-red begonia boliviensis for my planters. They get huge and trail over the sides and look fabulous contrasting against some lime green creeping Jenny. Potting soil and garden tools, seeds, indoor plants, bird feeders, garden art, plant food, pots and planters - they have it all! Helpful service, knowledgeable about plants and best conditions for success. But as with most large nurseries, you have to find them, which is understandable. There are lots of carts available. Large parking area. The weekends are obviously more crowded, especially on a sunny day, so I always go during the week before noon and have the place mostly to myself! read more

The knowledgeable staff are happy to answer any question -no matter how dumb- and help you find exactly what you need for your own garden. If you are in need of some inspiration, take a walk through the display gardens. Sit down on one of the benches and soak in the fresh air, colors and varieties of plants and imagine them in your own garden. If still unsure, talk to one of the landscape team members to help you actualize your vision. The garden center has everything you need for a successful garden experience. Spring edibles, Summer edibles, Fall vegetables, fruit trees, and perennials. There is now a new digitized Information Center where you can very easily access, download, and print helpful and informational plant and tree care PDF guides from home. At various times of the year Farmington Gardens holds special classes and events. My favorite is the Holiday Open House held in November. Explore all the new merchandise displays while enjoying live music and complimentary refreshments. It's free and is pretty popular. In December there's the Holiday Market to look forward to with over 50 vendors, standing ready to share their hand-crafted wares. No customer service so sad. I was so excited to have bought multiple trees and shrubs here last fall. A $40 shrub died even though it was planted in the same area as another shrub from there- this one survived. Both were protected during cold. Sent them photos taken 7weeks after purchase. I was well within the 90 day window. Asked for replacement and they said it was due to severe cold and they wouldn't not do anything at all. Lost my business, I'll get my trees and shrubs elsewhere this year. read more

Yesterday, I purchased three trees that were on sale. I did not take possession of trees and was waiting to have them delivered. Today, less than 24 hours after I ordered the trees, I called to cancel the order. I explained that I did not have possession of the trees and that I had ordered them less than 24 hours ago. Farmington Gardens refused my refund. I told Farmington that it would be a waste of time to take possession of the trees so I told Farmington to keep them. I then asked Farmington what they would do with the tree and they said, oh, we'll put them back on the lot for sale. They wouldn't even offer me a credit, or partial credit. Guess I'm out the money and Farmington will sell the trees twice for double the profit. I'll never go to Farmington again. read more

disappointed in recent customer service experience. obvious heat stress on a tree that was purchase roughly 2 weeks outside the 90 day window guarantee. i was told extreme acts of weather are not covered regardless but def not since it was outside the 90 days window. i feel disappointed, been going there for the last 20 years. This was my first visit to Farmington Gardens in about 15 years. I remember that trip being pretty overwhelming, as we were 1st time homeowners, trying to figure out what to do with our yard. Now, 15 years later, we've moved into our 2nd home, have learned a LOT about growing through trial and error and are in the process of landscaping our new yard. WOW - what a difference 15 years makes! Farmington Gardens was an absolute wonderland of amazingness! Between the massive selection of pottery & yard art, the beautiful landscaped mini-nature walk and incredible variety of plants, I was blown away! I spent almost 2 hours taking it all in with my mom, who, as a former nursery-worker, was equally impressed. I ended up with a very healthy hydrangea and a gorgeous ranunculus. I can't recommend Farmington Gardens enough and can't wait for my next visit! read more

What a huge selection and beautiful grounds. This place is right down the street from my house and I pass it on the way to work. I have been dying to stop in and today was the perfect weather to browse around. Gorgeous flowers in bloom and everything you need to plant and take care of your yard. The employees are super helpful and very knowledgeable. I do not have a green thumb but I will attempt to change that now that I've moved here to Oregon. I feel inspired by the beauty here and I'm hopeful I can keep my flowers and garden alive. **returned today 5/25 to check out the Memorial Day sale. We picked up a beautiful barrel plantar for our strawberries. We took the beautiful stroll around these gorgeous peaceful grounds. I feel like I'm in heaven with all these gorgeous blooms. Although they did not have my favorite rose, they have a huge variety for the same price as Other competitors. Very slow checkout line - call in more cashiers when there is a line of 10 people! Overpriced to boot. Not a fan.

To be fair, this place gets 5-stars for atmosphere and selection. The BIG NEGATIVE experience happened when they delivered our 230 sq ft of soil to the middle of our driveway on the wrong day, while no one was home. Details: - My wife asked them to deliver the soil for our side yard ON THE WEEKEND because we would be OUT OF TOWN ATTENDING A FUNERAL. (More specifically, my Dad's funeral, so maybe my sense of humor is a bit thinner than it normally would be as I write this.) - Soil was delivered yesterday, a Monday. Not the weekend. - We were in the midst of a 10-hour drive, so no one was at home when they knocked on the door. - No attempt was made to call beforehand to confirm delivery that day. - No attempt was made to call us at the time of delivery, since no one answered the door. (At this point, we hadn't even laid out a tarp on the driveway to lay the soil on, as discussed prior.) -No reasonable attempt was made to keep the soil completely on one side of the driveway so at least one car could get in and out of the garage. (Photo attached.) In the end, we returned after 9pm from our long trip and came home to an unexpected mountain of dirt in our driveway. We were all tired and had to unload our vehicle from the street. We were completely unprepared for this delivery and no attempt was made to communicate the delivery details with us. Keep in mind, my wife had ordered the soil the week prior. It's not like it was a same-day delivery mistake. Bottom Line: They basically made the sale and dumped off their obligation wherever and whenever they wanted. Not cool. And a bit sad. We live just down the street from them on Cooper Mountain. Probably be the last time we do anything significant with these guys. read more

A Garden Wonderland! I went looking for Meyer lemon trees and found the staff to be super helpful, and walked me to the location to choose my options. While I was looking at the lemon and lime selection, a very nice staff member walked over with a cart for my selections and gave me some gardening tips to care for my new plants. I have been back to Farmington Gardens again for more plants, and they have all been healthy and beautiful. The lemons were purchased on May 15th, and there are loads of lemon fruit buds coming in after only 6 weeks. New sets of flowers are loaded up on the trees for more lemons to continue. read more

A really nice gentleman helped us in the shop with our large purchases. When we got up to the cashier, Joann, she was soooo rude, unprofessional and had a bad attitude towards us. It was obvious she didn't like her job or it was the wrong job for her. She should not address customers!!! She should work in the warehouse away from customers! We really like this business but will not shop here again. We ended up leaving our large purchase and not buying from her. No customer should have to deal with employees like her. This is why businesses suffer! I hope someone reads this that can speak to her and try to straighten her out before she offends others! It's obvious she has deep personal problems. read more

After visiting so many nurseries in the Portland Metro area, I find Farmington to be the best offering. They have a large variety of outdoor and indoor plants. The prices are very affordable. The service is great. Wear good walking shoes and some sunscreen and plan to spend a good amount of time here. read more

This is the perfect place when you need anything for your yard. The trip out here is quite lovely. The grounds were nice enough but they built several new buildings last year so it is even nicer now. Their plants are always very healthy and they offer an amazing selection of plants you do not see often at nurseries. Picking just a few items is very difficult since their displays are so inspiring. They also have excellent soil and mulch selection. Their special events are wonderful as well like the tomato festival. During the summer they also do what is called Plant A Row helping gardeners donate their extra produce to shelters and such and offering rewards for that. read more

Best nursery in Portland! Has variety of plant selection with reasonable price and you can spend hours just gazing at all varieties and beautiful landscape. It gets difficult not to pick extra plants as they all look so pretty and inviting! They have lot of variety of indoor and outdoor plants. Also, options for organic vegetables. I'd like to update this to say that all of the red twig dogwoods that I purchased are not doing well. They didn't look good at the nursery, but I thought they just needed to get into the ground. I had purchased about a dozen a few weeks prior to this, and they are all doing fantastic. I don't know if this batch of red twig dogwood's are diseased, but they are in exactly the same conditions and just not doing well. Also one last observation, I purchased to Natchez crêpe myrtles from them and those were $200 each. I needed three more, and I found these at Portland Nursery. When I got to Portland nursery I wasn't expecting much, because I assume they would be much more expensive than Farmington Gardens. Not only were these at least three times the size of the crêpe myrtles that I purchased from Farmington Gardens, they looked healthier, and they were $150 each. read more

Farmington Gardens' customer service was a big failure today! Two days ago, I bought a house plant (Euphorbia Platyclada--Dead Plant) because of its unique appearance. After two days, I researched its care online and learned that this plant is highly toxic to humans and animals. Its sap causes significant burning of the skin, can leave you temporarily or permanently blind, and can be fatal if swallowed. And yet I was given no warning of this when I spoke with the cashier upon purchase. When I returned it today, she told me that "almost everybody" knows these plants are toxic. Really??? Not true! Her associate joined our conversation and with noticeable attitude said "well, we're taking it back" as if that should suffice. In fact, that was insulting. This plant sat on my counter and posed a danger to children, adults and my cat who might have touched it. I suggested that at the very least, FG should place signs near toxic plants to warn customers to research them before taking them home. The cashier stated that they have toxic plants throughout their entire nursery. Oh, great! Though I've been a Farmington Gardens customer for decades, I will not be going back. And instead of making sales at any cost, I suggest they change some policies to keep their customers informed and safe. read more

They are so put out to answer questions, half the time don't even answer just make fun of your question. ZERO respect for customers. Plans to work on the yard on July 4th and made a stop here and what a great space- appreciated the organization and the tips on various plants/flowers. The parking lot sale is great and the fountain/sitting area is beautiful too. I loved just looking around and being among the nursery. I love them! Their prices are a little high but their plants are of good quality. All that I purchased are still alive! Yay me! The place is pretty big and offer a good selection of indoor plants. I took my son here with me in the middle of the week. They have plenty of parking and even showed my son a few plants while I shopped. They gave him a toy at check out. I like the smaller location a bit better, but only because it is slightly less intimidating. This location is huge! I am a house plant person, and they have a great collection of house plants. Their prices are good, though they are a bit more expensive then their other location. I went late one afternoon in the fall, so it was a bit hard to find someone who worked there, but the employees I did find, were super nice and very helpful. Customer service is atrocious. I bought a tree, delivery, and planting services. The delivery and planting cost more than the tree but I couldn't get them to come out and plant it. Their planting team that determined date of delivery didn't return calls, or when they did, they called my home phone - which I had several times in messages asked them not to call because I wasn't often home. In each phone call I specifically asked them to call my cell number. Days would go by before a call would be returned...to my home phone. I called Farmington Gardens direct and asked for a supervisor. Her repeated mantra was that this was their busiest time of the year. I get that, maybe for an actual planting date, but not for returning calls. I got a tentative date two weeks in the future from her, which would then put it more than three weeks after I purchased the tree and services. I won't be returning to them; there are other reputable nurseries in the area. read more

You are NOT WELCOMED TO RETURN stuff even if it's still within warranty. They refused to return the tree in pictures. Pic 1 is the tree when I just planted, the rest are 60 days after. Bought several trees, this one is the only one had problems. Firstly, I was told probably not watering enough. After I told them I used a drip hose to water it twice a day, 30min each time in July and August, recently changed to 40min daily d/t weather, and then they told me I watered too much!! I took the tree to the garden to return, they refused, saying the tree was still alive. Multiple excuses used by them. Warranty is only 90 days, when it's completely dead, it will be out of the warranty. The manager lady in Farmington Garden was rude and refused to give me her name after argument. The lady was back and forth of her excuses. She ended up with slamming the door and leaving me outside of the room. Her little son (10 years old-ish?) was in the scene when all it happened. Before this, I sent out two emails asked what to do with the tree and how to return. They give me instructions about how to take care of it but trying to avoid face the question about how to return. I love this nursery. This is a great place to buy plant starts for your garden, and ladybugs to eat the aphids on your roses ( if you do that, which we do), and to just generally hang out and bask in the wonderfulness that is gardening in a green state.
