Just go there first. They almost always have what I need. The last 3 projects I've had I made several trips to Lowe's and home depot only to find d they don't have what I need. They even gave me a couple Owings to repair a diverter valve for a clawfoot tub after the manufacturer said I had to replace it (for ~$175). Very helpful. Thanks! read more

BEWARE!!! This used to be the best plumbing supply store in Salem, not any longer! Sure, they great you with a friendly smile, call you neighbor. And that's when the good ends. 1st they Sold me a delta faucet with missing pieces, that I only found out when installing, so with my plumber on the clock, I had to drive from my Dallas home in the middle of my project, to their store Salem, then when Saffron didn't have the parts, I had go across town to get from another store. Not a big deal. When first buying the faucet, I mentioned I had other plumbing projects to do, they said they would have someone contact me to give a bid. Later Brent Hunt from Saffron called, set a time, we met. Spent an hour going over my property, describing what I needed, and I drew him maps as the project involved 3 wells on 6 acres. He got back to me later with a bid that said it included all labor and materials for what we talked about, but it wasn't itemized or detailed. (My mistake not requesting a break down) but it did say all labor and materials. I agreed to the bid, we set a date. Days before the start date, Brent texts asking if I wanted a hydrant in a different location than I showed him. I said no, told him to refer to the map we gave him. He then said that he may have under estimated the pipe needed and there may be "extra" costs. But the bid said "all labor and materials" included. The workers showed up on the start day, nice young men, and started telling me what their plan was for the day. 1st thing was to clean my 2000 gallon water tank, and then they would cut out my concrete pad. I said that Brent told me they would horizontal drill under the pad, as I didn't want it cut up, and they said that's not what they do. I told them to hold off on that and I would call Brent. I said they could start the cleaning and maybe work on separating the two water sources that both feed that tank, they said they couldn't do that either, as it would require a new pump and pressure tank. I said wait on that I'll call Brent. I went inside my home to call Brent, who immediately said I was wrong, that we didn't talk about horizontal drilling, and that's why he wanted to put my hydrant in a different spot?!? The out and out lies, the completely unprofessional bid, the omission of any details so he could add charges later! I said never mind the work. Tell your crew to leave. I then went to the crew, told them what had transpired and that we wouldn't be using their services, and they said they had already added the cleaner to my water. I asked how long and what charges I would get for the tank cleaning, they said 2 hours plus the cleaner. I agreed and went inside. Brent called them, told them to leave then, with the cleaner still in my water supply, effectively preventing us from using our water. This isn't ok. No one should be held hostage by poorly written bids that imply a scope of work that the service provider changed based on their wants. I will be investigating legal options. At the very least, I hope this helps other avoid a company that don't care about their clients. Maybe that's why they recently had to change their CCB number. read more

I was referred to Saffron by our local Ace Hardware. After many stops to Ace and to Home Depot trying to figure out the correct parts I was told I needed (and all failed), Saffron PUT together and created something for me on the SPOT and had it ready in just a few minutes. I came home expecting to fail again but didn't! The replacement part was exactly what I needed. Wish I had heard about them sooner. They will now be my first stop for any project. My daughter in law and I searched all over Salem for new valves for an ancient Price Fister faucet. No one had anything close but the last store we tried told us that they referred all of the impossible cases to Saffron Supply. We went over there and the folks at the counter pointed out we did not need a new valve, just a replacement washer. One pulled out a big box full of washers and ran through them. There looked to be a thousand washers in that box but he came up with proper size in about a minute They changed both washers for us and did not even charge us. This is about the best service I've ever received at a business in my 80 years. read more

After spending a few minutes trying to figure out what exactly I needed to order, I decided to swing by Saffron (thanks fellow Yelpers!). The friendly guy took a look, went in back, and brought me what I needed - for a whopping 90 cents! If you can't find it at the local Big name hardware store just take a trip to Saffron. We needed base board heaters, mobile home electric box breakers, wall heaters, old fashioned faucets, and more for our rentals, they always have what we need. I was looking for a small heater for my bathroom; wal-mart and lowes wanted at least $40, Saffron $29. Tomorrow we will visit Saffron for an electric plug the local big hardware store didn't have. The service is the best. Home depot has the worst customer service in Salem. read more

I can't say enough good things about this company. I'm a single woman who owns an older home. On two separate occasions, I've brought them a part from my shower or sink and asked them for a replacement. They've shown me that I didn't in fact need a replacement but just an adjustment or some trouble-shooting. It would have been much easier on them to just sell me the part and send me on my way. They are honest and helpful. That's hard to find elsewhere, but you'll always find it at Saffron Supply. read more

Went in looking for a replacement elbow for my sprinkler, and walked out in less than five minutes with exactly what I needed... that was 12 years ago. I see some of the same faces today as I did then, and it still only takes five minutes. The service is great - the kind of place where you don't have to walk down aisles a half block long looking for someone to help you. I've gotten everything from a five-cent washer for my facet, to a toilet/shower for a bathroom remodel. They've got it all. Highly recommended. read more

They are reasonably priced, however their greatest asset is they're staff. Don't look around...just tell the folks what you need and they will find it for you. Plus advice on projects. So went to Saffron because I need a specialty fixture for the bathroom sink it's wall mounted with two legs and exposed underside so I can't use the cheap yoke style fixtures carried by the box stores and I prefer smaller shops. I brought the removed fixture for reference and explained what and why I needed a similar mounting fixture; a gentlemen escorted me to the "book" and selected a fixture to order. It came in and my wife picked it up. Surprise it was the same cheap yoke style mount that I could have got at Lowe's for a bill less. At first we considered just replacing the sink with an enclosed vanity then decided to return it. Wife returned it I figured there may be a small restock fee or return for credit which I was OK with. 25 % restock fee which came close to $68.00 additionally the gentlemen said I didn't tell them or provide them with the exact example I in fact did. So what could I have done 1) assumed that they don't know what they're doing and won't necessarily share that with you 2) I should have checked the cut sheet/installation sheet to be sure that what they were ordering was what I wanted, 3) asked what they're return policy is. Will I use them again, probably not, recommend them with a big caveat as a last resort read more
