Tommy's is great but the hours are terrible. 7AM-1PM. I'm not going to stand outside waiting for them to open as many do and I can't usually do lunch by 1PM so I don't get to go often as I would like. Looking forward to the new addition with indoor bathrooms. read more

As always our go to restaurant in Walla Walla, Washington for breakfast or lunch they have a very menu of all of our delicious favorite foods Yesterday we enjoyed the clubhouse sandwich loaded with delicious meat and cheeses on lightly toasted bread The plate was also smothered in french fries, My personal favorite are the pork chops this time I had the pork chop lunch with tune, perfectly cooked, lean pork chops from blue Valley meats, across the street along with crispy fried home fried potatoes and a side salad with homemade blue cheese dressing, and also toast the pork chops are my favorite because they are tender Loaded with flavor and they are also on the breakfast menu with potatoes, eggs and toast. I think the highlight of the breakfast menu is there chicken fried steak along with the potatoes eggs anyway that you like them my daughter had the eggs over medium, which is a hard one to cook where the yolks are still soft, but not running out they cooked it an excellent job along with the home fried potatoes, and several types of toast or English muffin are offered The gravy covering the chicken fried steak and the thickness of the beef in the steak makes it tender and juicy Stop in and say hi to Greg and all of his staff who are friendly efficient and knowledgeable about their items on the menu and quick to serve! read more

I told them I knew a place that was a well-kept secret, and we headed to Tommy's Dutch Lunch. Classic, authentic American Diner food. They loved it. It's not "elegant," it's real. a small mom and pop restaurant in a neighborhood outside of downtown. we were staying at the comfort inn and happened to drive by a few times so we decided to stop in for a late breakfast- i'm SO glad we did! very friendly staff and a quick turn around so we didn't have to wait for a table. the menu was simple but had everything you could want for breakfast or lunch. my mom chose breakfast- I chose lunch. I ordered the tommy burger with bacon and fries. fresh large patty, hand made, and the crinkle fries are my absolute favorite. generous portions- I was stuffed! my mom got hashbrowns, 2 eggs, hand made sausage patty, and a side of biscuits and gravy (not pictured) she LOVED IT. I don't see her eat that much very often. she ate all of it! when we come back to walla walla I will always make sure to stop here for a meal. This diner is delicious. The people that work there are amazing the the food is incredible. It is a diner; it's not fancy, but the food is amazing. I personally suggest the chicken fried steak. It is specifically fantastic because the gravy is so good. Therefore I suspect their biscuits and gravy are also delicious. Heads up, there can sometimes be a bit of a wait depending on what time of the morning you come in. Thanks for the great experience. Few people here are tourists. read more

Just to demonstrate their accommodating, wonderful service, here's our really rather annoying order and the A+ service we received in return: I ordered a meal but substituted french toast for the normal toast. The waitress actually seemed sad she'd have to charge me a little more for the FT. My sister actually just listed off the things she wanted in her breakfast and asked the waitress if that was possible and our waitress didn't even blink, just charged her for the daily special and made it happen. I also asked for an extra french toast piece after we'd pretty much finished eating (I was starving. Seriously.) and she happily delivered. The check was split for us without difficulty or complaint. The portions are enormous, not to mention prices that can't be beaten. It's almost like they don't want to squeeze every last penny out of you--oh wait, that is what it's like! Remarkably friendly, attentive service despite it being unusually packed due to the Gentlemen of the Road - Walla Walla Stopover. We had to wait for 30 minutes but that was much more reasonable than the 2 hour wait at Maple Counter. This place is on the smaller side and doesn't look like much from the outside but I like the home-y vibe on the inside. Add to that, the fact that there are regulars/old-timers that the staff greet by name makes for a very comfy, family/small-town orientated place. The food was reasonably priced and the portions were huge! Despite the crowd, it came out in decent time and everything tasted fresh and homemade. I even saw a woman hand peeling potatoes in the back. I had the biggest food coma after breakfast and I'm usually not a big breakfast fan. Like many local gems that have stood the test of time, Tommy's Dutch Lunch umassuming exterior should not be viewed as lack of achievement, but profound achievement. Tommy's is very good and the real deal. It is a locals haunt, where the Hi Ed, Hi Tom stuff flies around the dining area as people filter in and out and court is held by a group of power brokers dressed as though they are farmers/blue collar fellows over in a corner of this place but a keen ear will reveal that these guys solve the problems of the universe. Today's topic was putting Mustard in one's beer, it's origins, merits and why this is not a more common practice. I have never heard of this but you can bet I will give it a shot now as this was a serious conversation. The dining area is comprised of four booths, and five tables set in an original but updated 20/30's building. Charming and comfortable like broken in 501's without a single stain or tear, this place is clean and quite nice. The food, which, after all is the reason to come is very good. Served in hearty, substantial portions, I had a Chicken Fried Steak, eggs, home fries, gravy toast coffee $10. Perfect. Happily married wife and Bacon/eggs home fries, toast coffee. We both thought it was well prepared and a good value. The owner dropped by ask how we liked the place and where we were from. Genuine, nice, friendly. Another point here, thos place is far from Downtown W2 in both distance and clientele. I did not see a single Columbia, Under Armour or fluorescent garment here. No quail eggs, no flat bread. No wine list. Just honesty. It's that kind of place. Be clear on that when you come here and Tommy's will not disappoint. Five stars because I can't give it six. This venerable Sunday morning destination sits at the ramshackle edge of the industrial district right between the highway and a power plant. Tommy's is a testament to what breakfast and lunch diners offer. The obligatory farm workers chatting over coffee, the comfortable, casual cosmetic of the building and it's servers, the seasoned tabletops laden with good sized portions, and the the simple menu (both in terms of options, aesthetic, and flavor) are all there. The prices sit squarely at something from 20 years ago and the recipes have been around at least twice that long. If you like this kind of place then you'll be satisfied. Tommy's Dutch Lunch fit the bill on this hot (100 degree) summer day. Not fancy. Plain food. Menu is basically breakfast and burgers. We got burgers. Closes at 2 pm so watch the time. I would've passed it by if it wasn't for a good yelp review. Hubby loved his burger with melted cheese. My patty melt had delicious Walla Walla onions ( I'm guessing, since I was in Walla Walla). Honestly... I was hoping this place would never make it to Yelp. But since it has, I might as well give my 2 cents. Best kept secret (no longer) of Walla Walla. I live here for 20 years before I finally got my husband to take me. Even he wasn't willing to give up this local secret for great home cooked breakfast. Looks a little sketchy from the outside, but inside it is homey and quaint. We usually come with 5-7 people on a Sunday and have never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes. My better half likes his over easy. Bacon is always crispy. You get at least 6 pieces of bacon. Our family likes bisquits and gravy or ham and eggs. Our piggy family also likes pancakes. So deliciously fresh. Rustic and friendly. I love love love the omeletters and fresh cottage cheese. I love their sausage and and delcious coffee.
