Came here on Good Friday for breakfast for some home fries and eggs because I was late for work, I thought the drive through would be convenient. The worker taking my order was a bit sassy. It probably would of been quicker for me to hop in and out of White's diner across the street. She passed me my order and didn't even say "thanks" It's been a while so I forgot the home fries here are more like French fries or cones. Very disappointed that I pulled up to the drive-in window and ordered sweet potato fries. The menu said they would be $3.99. the person I was speaking to told me the total would be over $5, so I questioned it. Apparently they don't feel any need to keep the outdoor menu current, or to honor the prices that people are seeing. I will speak to the manager Nick about it when I have an opportunity. My first time here at Tomlinson. And I was not impressed. It didn't really do it for me. I ordered jalapeño poppers and Buffalo wings. And my girlfriend ordered a burger with French fries. We shared everything. The Buffalo wings were mediocre. The jalapeño poppers i have had better. The only thing i liked were the fries. Service was ok can't complain. Everything was clean inside. I'm glad I didn't pay attention too closely to the reviews here. First, I think it's important for everyone to know Tomlinson's never served Hummel's hotdogs. It has always been and remains to be Sabretts brand. Today I ordered a shaved steak sandwich with cheese and fried onions. Freshly made to order so it took a little time. The bread was fresh and delicious as were all the ingredients. I feel $10 was fair for what I got. Folks, please contact the restaurant directly to try to rectify any issues you have with your meal. It is incredibly hard for businesses to remain open during these times. You need to realize the power your online reviews hold. It could make or break a family business. read more

Really cool spot! Had never been here before and was driving around and found it. I was told that this place used to be a shack back in the day and have since expanded. The drive-thru is the only way you can get orders in now, which led for a very confusing line. There was a gentleman that was taking orders as the line went by which helped speed it up. I hope they open the in-restaurant dining soon as it was just dangerous the way cars were coming in their lot. Hot dogs were good. Nothing spectacular that I'd write home about, but can totally appreciate an old fashioned place that has kept up with the times and been around for decades. read more

Tomlinson's aka the Greeks is an institution. They started in 1935 at Seaside Park and have been in there current location well before I was ever born. They used to be a small little shack of a hotdog stand and then in 1999 they converted over the the big upgraded full size building they are in now. So I have been going here since I was a kid and they were just a little shack of a place and the quality has always was has brought me back. In a world where McDonald's has served 100 billion people it's nice to know there is still a place like Tomlinson that is about the same price that can give you quality burgers and dogs. Real food, huge portions, and super reasonable prices. From the 1st time I ate here I knew I would be a customer for life. These guys make the most amazing burgers, dogs, and now these southwest fries they have a mind blowing. The only question is can you finish the meal the put in front of you? But the taste is so next, next level I'm sure you will eat as much as your body will allow. If your ever in the area do yourself the favor and experience this culinary masterpiece for yourself. I have been here a few times and I don't think the hotdogs are anything special than anywhere else but my biggest frustration is driving here for 2 hrs to show my kid her dads childhood favorite place and come at 10 pm to find out that you cant even sit inside. No indication online , on a website or on a building for that matter that their lobby closes at some point ... I still don't know what time lobby closes as no one replied to my question... now we have to eat in a car and both of us having awful experience as this is the sloppiest parking I ever got in my life .. won't be back read more

I used to go to this place to three times a week for hotdogs since my last review I just have to say I will not be going there for dogs anymore. They told me on the phone about two months ago. They were going to switch back to Hummel's dogs they have not switched they serve a different kind of hotdog which does not go with their great chili. I believe it's a beef hotdog I'm not positive. Food is very good, the service is friendly. The tables are clean. But don't trust the online menu it has not been updated in years.

Oh yum! This is my first time trying this place and since covid has the dining room closed I decided to wait in the drive thru line which was super long. If anything the long line made me want to try it more. The line moved along quickly, I got a hot dog, cheeseburger and curly fries. All were so good and fresh, I wish I had ordered a large curly fries because I wanted more. The place has parking and service was good. I plan on coming here often! Tomlinsons used to be a great place to go for a hot dog or burger. Burger was awful, overcooked and it took almost 12 minutes to get a hot dog burger and fries through drive through. The hot dog which they are known for, was so over saturated with toppings the bun was falling apart, a disgusting amount of toppings, adding a pound of sauerkraut just made it worse. Staff was rude, and slow, and didn't know how to expedite. The car in front of me had huge order and they just let them sit there while my food got cold. Way too many competing places to come back again, so I won't. Sad. I typically come back a week or so after posting to see if any management reaches out. They didn't showing how little they care, and even more of a reinforcement to steer clear of Tomlinsons. 11 days no response. read more

My family and I have been customers for 30+years. Tonight we drove to get an order (from out of town). When we got home they clearly gave us the wrong food. My wife called and they acknowledged the mistake. Would only refund the order if we came back in (25+min drive). Then they were going to only refund the burgers unless we brought them all the food back. Perhaps the owners need to explain customer service to their manager Jose. Very sad to have what was supposed to be an enjoyable meal that my wife was craving. After another call back same story...they have to charge us because we're gonna eat the food! I've been going to Tomlinson's since I was a kid. My Dad would take me to the little white shack. I remember the picture of the Webber hot dog on the front. You entered at one end, and exited at the other. I loved watching my hotdog being grilled... and sitting in the backseat of my Dad's car eating fries out of a paper boat with a tiny wooden fork. Every time... and I mean every time I'm driving through Bridgeport I make a detour and pick up chili dogs and cheeseburgers. I remember also dining at Maraczi's (now Duchess) which was ok, but Tomlinson's was the best. "The Greek's". The brand of hotdog may have changed, but I swear the grill hasn't. I happen to love Hummel natural casing dogs grilled crispy, so I'm a sucker for Tomlinson's chili dogs. Anyone who complains that they no longer use "Roesslers" or "Webbers" should go back in a time machine and resurrect those brands cause they no longer exist. The fact that they have always used local dogs is what sets them as part. And their burgers are also amazing. Love the soft rolls! French bakery style! I try to stay away from fast food but when I am in one of those moods and I just gotta have it, this is the go to spot. What I like about this place is that the food is done while u wait. It is not sitting there for a while. Although I must admit I prefer them when they were just the little shack. It seems like the food was better then but it is still a good place to go to get a quick bite. They menu is pretty extensive and they also serve breakfast as well. All I have to say is that these are the best hot dogs in Bridgeport. I ordered the footlong combo with the works and the redhot beef hot dog (spicy),the hot dogs were flavorful and delicious. They don't have a very extensive menu, which is a plus for me it was easy to order and add the toppings that I wanted. The restaurant was clean and stuff members were friendly. So, I used to be a chili dog regular from the very early 70's through the mid 80's. Went there last week for a chili dog and I have to say, they still make a good dog. The chili could be a little richer, to match my memories. I don't know if the mind plays tricks on us, but the old stand dogs still seem like they were a little bit better. But, hey, the dogs themselves aren't the same, the rolls aren't out of the same bakery and the deep fry grease is probably cleaner, haha. I remember Jimmy holding the plastic bags of fried clams over the deep fryer and melt out the bottom of the bag to let the clam strips fall through into the fryer. I have been going there since the 70's. Loved the crispy pop of the Hummell hot dogs when you bit down on them. Years ago the " Greeks" used to place the hot dog in boiling grease for less than a minute and then finish it off on the hot grill. While it was cooking , the roll would be spattered with melted butter and then placed on the grill to lightly brown and heat up. Before putting the hot dog in the roll, they would drop bacon bits in the roll before the hot dog nestled in the bun. That is what made the hot dog great and not like other hot dogs in the area. Cooking it in the grease would flash fry the dogs to keep in the juices and then to the hot skillet to burn off the excess grease. Went there yesterday and requested a chili and onion hot dog. I brought a friend that never been there before so i dragged her there to experience what a great hot dog taste like. She tasted it and said " so whats the big deal?" I looked in my bun and it looked like another lifeless hot dog you can buy at a stand. No toasted bun , no bacon bits and i wasn't sure it was a Hummel hot dog!!. The chili and onion is what i remembered , hot and spicy . The key to a good business is not to change your recipe. if you don't stick to what your know for...why go at all. Very disappointed. I hate post so many negative reviews, I really do. I walked in here 2 nights ago and saw that 4 out of 5 employees involved with the food preparation process were not wearing gloves. They are not chefs with high standards back there, they are teenagers who may or may not wash their hands after a bathroom break, picking their nose, handling money, etc. We ended up going next door to Captains Pizza. read more
