Had a nice wonderful lunch here. Sat outside at the umbrella tables. Ordered a chicken taco salad and a Baja fish taco. Salad was excellent with a delicious poblano dressing and chicken was juicy, unlike the leather chicken that usually tops a salad! Loved the quinoa and watermelon that was hidden in the salad! Fuss tacos were crispy and perfectly done with a cold slaw on top. Yum! Loved my mango margarita and chips and salsa! Very friendly staff that give great service! Bravo!

I wouldn't say I was blown away by anything, but this place does the job. The restaurant is small, but has a festive atmosphere, outdoor seating, ok food, and reasonable prices. I ordered a watermelon salad, which truthfully was quite boring since it was mainly cabbage. However, in all fairness, I had gotten my hopes up because that morning, I happened to see a few incredibly appetizing watermelon salads on Pinterest. While my own experience was a little disappointing, I can tell that there are other dishes here that are better. The rest of my party was very pleased with their burritos/burrito bowl. In short, I'd simply say "ok". (However, I got to say, major bonus points since I didn't feel sick afterwards)

When we entered the place, we were greeted by Skye, who would be our server. She had a big smile on and made us feel welcome. The place has many vegan options which was nice to see! The nachos we ordered tasted amazing! The toppings included vegan chili, beans, cheese and guacamole. We also ordered the sauce sampler for only $3. The samples weren't as small as I thought they would be. The sauces had a range of flavors from sour to sweet to spicy. We were not too fond of their chocolate sauce sample but it was nice to see something different! The shrimp fajita bowl tasted very good. It was a good mix of spicy, saucy, crunchy. The shrimp tacos were a little bit spicier than expected so I had hard time finishing them (if you can't handle spice, I advise not ordering it). Overall, I did like the place! Skye was very attentive and helpful, the place was clean, prices were affordable and the food tasted great. A solid 4/5!!

Sister restaurant to Grass Roots Kitchen in Tarrytown (and Sweet Grass Grill I think?), Tomatillo is a super laid-back spot for grabbing unique Mexican fare. Located steps away from Broadway in Dobbs Ferry, Tomatillo was grab & go for me. The setting has nice color bursts, an awesome Brick wall and unusual props. Menu doesn't just stop with tacos because it's filled with lots more. And just like their other two restaurants, menu here is personally right up my alley with Vegan and Vegetarian dishes and some Seafood. Plus there's chicken, red meat and pork items too. I skipped the Vegan "bacon" quick and Chipotle aioli from getting to my Tacos. But I overlooked a few ingredients I can't have for lifestyle, dietary reasons or just because I'm me- like the coleslaw I picked out of a Taco. Flavors were decent though- plus these guys don't play around with substance because my 3 Tacos were crammed with either Seafood or Cauliflower. This is a very nice concept- but my only complaint is these guys just use 1-ply corn tortillas and my Tacos totally fell apart. Tomatillo has a nice buzz though and looks like it's everyone's favorite joint. Service was ok the short time I was there- plus there are a few other things I'd like to try.

Tomatillo has changed significantly since it first opened, so if you are best off not relying on old memories of what this place was like. The layout, service, and food has changed for better and for worse. The restaurant no longer offers the homey, unique ambience that it used to; instead, Tomatillo feels like a chic, unassuming cafe one might find in a college town. The service is fair and the menu bears no surprises, though the food itself is quite tasty. The homemade salsa is wonderfully spiced, the burritos are decently sized, and the bowls offer a superb combination of flavors. The steak fajita bowl in particular was the perfect for a quick meal out (steak cooked perfectly, rice and beans not too heavy).

I order from Tomatillo once a week because they offer so many vegan/gluten free options! They have the best burritos! I've tried their fajita bowls, nachos, burritos, tacos, rice & beans and soups which have all been fantastic. My personal favorite is there Feeling Buff Burrito and the Cauliflower tacos.

The pato en mole poblano was described as half a duck, but what I got were two small, dry pieces of duck that were tasteless without the sauce. The waiter insisted it was correct, but it clearly wasn't, and no effort was made to fix it. Service was very slow it took about 20 minutes just to order drinks, and another couple even left after they were seated. The sangria tasted good but had no fruit and our glasses were mostly ice. The guacamole was good! My girlfriend's food was just okay. Nice ambiance, but I'd only return to try their Mexican dishes and expect slow service.

It was quiet inside, which we thought was not a good sign... but, soon enough, we knew we had made a great choice. La Chinita Poblana is quite the gem! To start, we ordered their house margaritas and some nachos (with pastor). We also had their complimentary chips and salsa. The drinks were tasty enough (I ended up ordering a 2nd one later one), but the nachos were off the chain. So yummy! And the dish was huge! After the nachos, we decided on the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce to split. The enchiladas were also super tasty!! I would definitely order these again. Oh, and they came with rice and beans (also tasty). We will definitely be trying La Chinita Poblana again. I'd like to go on a night where there are more patrons next time--maybe for Happy Hour. The place has a fun vibe, and I hear it is more happening on some nights (e.g., Ladies' Night on Thursdays).

This restaurant has been around for about…read moresix years, and I'll admit I had previously dismissed it because it's located in an outer strip of stores where Harmon and Bed Bath & Beyond once were. I truly wish I hadn't--because I was thoroughly impressed with the food, the décor, the service, and the extensive menu. There are so many dishes I want to come back and try. From the moment we walked in, the restaurant impressed us with its vibrant, themed décor and incredibly friendly staff who made us feel right at home. Warm tortilla chips with chunky salsa and glasses of water were brought to our table immediately after we sat down, which was a great start. They have a full-service bar, and while they don't offer frozen cocktails, we honestly didn't miss them. I had a coconut margarita, and my husband enjoyed a passionfruit rum cocktail. He doesn't drink tequila, so I asked if rum could be substituted, and they were more than happy to accommodate. He chose a Tajín rim, while I opted for sugar instead of salt. Both drinks were strong, flavorful, and served in really nice, heavy margarita glasses. We both chose specials from the House Special Grill, and wow--what a great decision. My husband had the skirt steak and jumbo shrimp, served with a creamy corn salsa, and he loved every bite. I ordered the grilled steak with sautéed onions, homemade tortillas, cactus pad (nopales), rice, and beans. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and perfectly prepared. We ended the night on a high note with dessert--one of the best flans I've ever had--paired with a glass of hot Mexican coffee. Absolutely delicious. Amazing food, great drinks, welcoming service, and a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend!
