Sam Tuttle was hired to do a build out on our metal building to be an Airbnb. In short Sam Tuttle is an con-artist. He mismanaged the funds for the job he was hired to do. He lied about how he spent the funds. He asked for more money when he knew he was going on vacation. Then he asked for the entire amount of the project when his agreement stated "three installments as the project moved forward." He refused to follow our vision. He did things his way and when we asked him for explanations he said he was going to need more money. In a meeting in our home he insulted our guest when they asked him a question. He got into a screaming match at our front door because he didn't want to answer legitimate questions about the concerns we were having. On this same day he walked off the job. Sam said he was a Christian and that he was honest. He was recommended by a close family friend which is why we hired him. There were huge discrepancies about how the money was spent. He told us different amounts on three different occasions which he why we wanted to talk to him. We knew based on the material at the job site and the number of days he worked that there was no way he could have spent all of the first installment. Because Sam walked off the job in anger we asked him for an amount we believed he should return to us. He agreed to this amount in an email and then has refused to pay us. He does not return our emails, he does not return our texts. This is the first time I have ever left a bad review for anyone. In this case, it is the right thing to do. Sam Tuttle is not ethical. He took advantage of me and my 82 year old mother. He lied to us. He mismanaged the funds and walked off the job in anger. I do not suggest you use him for any service. We regret trusting in him and allowing him into our home. Do not use his services. Stay away!!

He went to Home Depot and purchased all the necessary supplies needed and completed the job the same day. We hired them again to help install a new bathroom cabinet with built in sink. They did an excellent job and helped us finish our renovated guest bathroom looking brand new. We also hired Josue to help tear down and reinstall a side fence shared with 1 neighbor. He came early in the morning and helped remove the old fence posts, string a line for reference and leveling. And mixed over 20 bags of concrete to pour into the fence post holes. He is a very hard worker and we will definitely hire him and his team for future projects.

I have recommended Marks Builders to many of my family and friends, and they've all had great things to say too.  Read on if you want the whole story! I had a leak in a wall between two bathrooms, above the kitchen.  Just to set the scene, my wife was pregnant and we had a baby due 3 weeks after the start of the construction.  My kitchen had a dropped ceiling and was original to the 1970s house.  Dustin worked with State Farm (my insurance carrier) to bring the adjuster's repair estimate up to a par. He and his team worked with us to order cabinets early (we were getting custom cabinets so they had a long lead time), then they gutted the kitchen and bathroom, raising the ceiling to 8' (reworking the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical lines in the process).  They pulled up all of the tile in the downstairs while we were out of the house (and in the hospital having the baby).  We asked for a few days at home without construction when we came home, to which they agreed. They worked hard to make sure that the house was ready for cabinets when they would be delivered. The cabinets were delivered without issue and installed the same week, with the trim taking longer than any other single step because they wanted it to look just right - and it paid off! The finishing touches make all the difference! The granite crew came in and did their thing. Like all of Dustin's sub-contractors, they were on time, professional, and courteous. They did their work well, quickly, and cleanly. We opted for granite counters and granite backsplashes, with different edge finishes in different places, corners, etc. to work around. They did it all well. Our kitchen looks fantastic, even a year and a half later. Through the whole 2-month process, Dustin's crew was on-site 4-6 days/week, except when we asked for the break. We made a lot of changes midway through, and Dustin didn't nickel and dime on the little things (moving an outlet, changing from a 2 gang to a 4 gang plug, etc). He was happy to work with my attention to detail (which can frustrate most people I know) and he did it with a smile - his attention to detail was similar. His crew was always fun to have around, and I never once worried about them being in the home, whether I was there or not. They worked hard to make sure we felt safe with them in the house at the start of Covid. All said, I strongly recommend Marks Builders. They're honest, smart, hard-working, and fun people who care about the work they produce and their customers' experience.

I explained what I had and even texted photos. I was assured they could do it. Scheduling was a little hectic, and I had to follow up to be sure I was even scheduled. I looked past this, being it was the holiday season. Once they showed up, they proceeded to install the whole house system, never having discussed any sort of fee. They seemed bothered by the system and that it was supposed to be wall mounted, so I agreed they could just leave it on the ground. When they were done, it looked like a crazy maze on my wall, but I wasn't going to complain about it. They came into my house to start the under sink system only to find my sink had no place for the faucet. So they instructed me to go buy a new sink. When I asked what size and what I needed, I was instructed on how to measure it myself and directed to the plumbing supply company to purchase it myself. They told me they would come back after I got the sink to finish the under sink system. They then handed me a large bill, which I paid. I'm a little surprised that 3 hours was more than$200/hr. I did measure it and got a new sink. When I called to have them schedule to come install my RO system, I was told they'd come. The day they were scheduled was a freeze day, so I assumed they would reschedule, but I got no notice or communication about it. 3 days later, I received a text telling me they hadn't forgotten me. I asked if they could come the following Monday, as I already had to take time off work. They said yes, but nothing more. So I thought it was at the same time. Monday came, and I received a text asking me what time. When I told them the original time, they said they thought it was 30 mins earlier, but they'd make it work. Then, 30 mins after that time, I asked if they were still coming, and I was told they were just on their way and would be 30 minutes. I waited patiently. This time, a different guy came to do the job. He said he'd done lots of RO systems. However, even with the step by step instructions, he took an entire day to install it and still couldn't figure out how to finish it. He asked if he could come back the next day, and I said I couldn't take more time off work. He finally left me to do it. Asking for his payment, of course. I got it up and running just fine with the directions. The next day, however, I came into my kitchen being completely flooded and my cabinet under the sink in my brand new home having water damage. I immediately called them to come back and fix the leak, taking yet another day off work, after paying over $1000 dollars to them. I was told they'd be here in an hour. 2 hours later, I reached out asking if they were still coming? It was another 30 minutes before I got the reply they were now on the way. In the time I was waiting I called the system manufacturer and found out the guy who installed it didn't tighten a valve all the way so it was leaking, which is the cause of the flood and water damage. When I informed them of the water damage and my fixing it myself, the only reply I received was, "K". So, for lack of customer service, lack of communication, lack of professionalism, and overall lack of care, I sadly leave this review. As I spent the same amount getting my system installed as the system cost and missed multiple days of work and now have water damage to my brand new cabinets.

And even when I said that I told them to give me a heads up on out of scope work, I still got new invoices for out of scope work. $1200 for extra hours for sloping the shower pan, $200 for extra trash removal, $600 for extra plumbing work. TLDR: Lowest Bid, Still great work, but expect them to nickel and dime you until it is done.
