This was a first for me. Came to the pharmacy to get my prescription and had the GoodRX app with the coupon for my scrip. The employee would not honor the price and charges me $4 more. I asked why he wouldn't honor and was told that it's this store policy and the pharmacist also felt the need to get involved when I questioned the policy. The pharmacist stated that she was unable to provide anything with this policy. I paid the additional cost but was lured to this store by false pricing and could have used a different store with a better price. Be AWARE of this Store! read more

Very well-maintained and -staffed, solid selection of beers and plenty of them from local producers, with good prices. By all means have a club card as there are some great deals in groceries. The cigarette selection is weak but it makes sense because so few people smoke anymore. read more

Oh Tom Thumb, you remind me of San Jose Safeways, bittersweet. Typical supermarket, no hard liquor sold here, stocked with all the essentials (but no high quality dark chocolate) however, there's a baby grand piano by the cafe area that a pianist plays every so often. The last time I came here, I was looking for liquid smoke near the bbq sauce and I found the label but no product, it looked like they hadn't stocked it in a while. This is the closest grocery store to my apartment and the best to get the same products I used to purchase in CA. Tom Thumb makes other grocery stores look ghetto (I'm still looking for a Railey's/Nob Hill alternative...) Until I find a better grocery store, I'll be frequenting this one. This is a smaller store-selection is limited. Cheese selection is good though! Clean and welcoming. There is also a piano there now and little reading nook to drink ur Starbucks- not sure who would wanna hang out at Tom Thumb but if that's ur thing then go for it This piano/hang out/reading nook is a good place for kids to wait while you shop too. This store is convenient to my house so there are times I break down and come even though I know it's not up to par. I have a baby so I buy a lot of organic produce. Now we usually go to Sprouts or another specialty produce place but if I need a standard item I have come here. The problem is their organic produce is terrible! I am aware that organic produce never looks as appealing because there aren't all these chemicals being used to make it look shiny and nice. However the produce at this Tom Thumb is rotting! I have picked up a tomato to find that the whole other side is completely black and almost hollow. I have seen bugs in this rotting produce. I highly recommend you don't come here for produce needs. The only thing I will buy here is the packages/can items. I suggest that you really inspect any and all perishable items if you are buying them here. read more

The Tom Thumb located on MacArthur in Irving, Texas is doing something on a daily basis that is negligent from a public health standpoint. I have been delivering products to this store over the last year or so, and I am often in their refrigerated room where they store raw meat and poultry. Unfortunately for some of their shoppers there, they are storing beer and wine products they want to keep chilled in this same refrigerated room. Very often when I go in this room there is raw meat blood on the floor, as it can drip from the packaging it's contained in just as it can drip from packaging in a home frig. I've also observed workers at the meat counter stacking packages of these various raw meat and poultry products ON TOP OF THE BEER AND WINE PRODUCTS IN THE SAME REFRIGERATED ROOM as they are dismantling pallets of boxed meat and poultry they receive. This room is only about 15ft x 15ft square, so there is limited space in this frig and that's why these beverages and meat and poultry products are getting mixed up with each other. Also, the door leading into the meat counter is always open, so the cold air in this walk-in frig is continuously escaping and causing the temperature to get above 41 degrees and compromising the meat and poultry in there, as well. So, it's a practice by this store that is making conditions serious for cross-contamination of the beer and wine products stored in the same refrigerator, as well as inviting bacteria to prosper on the meat and poultry in there. Another matter I've read several posts about on yelp that are unfortunately true regards how unpleasant much of the staff can be there at this Tom Thumb to customers and vendors that serve the store. The most unpleasant people that work there are the managers in the front and back of the store. So, it's basically like a lot of companies where the bad attitudes of the managers have a way of forming the attitudes of the lesser staff. I've supplied dozens of grocery stores over the years, and 95% of the time pleasant management staff of these stores have more pleasant to deal with employees. read more

Tom Thumb is so expensive but they run sales. This is my favorite store, it's the closest to work and it the smallest Tom Thumb around. I like that because although it's the smallest it has everything. I can get in and out of this store in a matter of minutes if necessary, there is no walking down long isles to get the basic necessities. I also love this store because sometimes in the evenings they have someone playing on the baby grand and the fireplace going when it's warm. This store is close to work so I can stop to pick up lunch or go and actually eat lunch there and enjoy the free WiFi without the big crowds. They have really good sandwiches and hot soup and don't walk passed the fried chicken (not the tenders) it's really tasty. This store is better kept I suspect because of the neighborhood but I benefit from it and I don't live in the neighborhood just passing thru. They always have the freshest produce and the staff is pretty friendly especially the ladies on the morning and mid afternoon Starbucks. read more

Tom Thumb Las Colinas- Early morning. 6/12/19 I do have a LARGE complaint and since the Store manager was off that day I approached the Front end lead (Sorry I didn't see her name). That day, a commercial was being filmed in the parking lot. They had taken up 3 parking spots including 2 handicapped!! I brought it to their attention the setup needed to be moved and why. She didn't offer to call a manager and I couldn't find one. When I was finally able to leave, they were still there sitting around. My poor cousin, I tried to find one close for her but shooting a commercial was way more important. I took a picture but I can't load it on here. BEWARE CASHIERS OVER CHARGE AND OFFICE REFUSES TO REFUND ERROR! My husband just left this location and he had a terrible experience. He went in to pick up a few items, including a few pieces of assorted produce. The cashier over charged by $34 dollars on a $83 dollar transaction. When he reviewed the receipt he saw the error, but was told he had to talk to the office. The girl in the office was very rude, at first implying that he was not being truthful, then pawing through his bags before reluctantly agreeing to refund the overcharge. She refused to supply my husband either her name or the cashiers name. The credit she claimed would appear at once, is still missing in action, while the original overcharge is already debited from our account. read more

This is the worst Tom Thumb location in terms of customer service. There is never a staff member available at the customer service area. We waited about 5 minutes and nobody showed up. Then, a cashier came over and told us that he was not customer service, just took something and he was getting ready to leave without even asking us if we needed help, so I had to ask him if anybody would come over to help us. He paged for somebody, then we waited for another 5 minutes, however nobody showed up. So, we had to leave.. Same type of situation happenned to us multiple times at this location. read more

This is the Tom Thumb that we go to for our usual grocery shopping. They have most items we want, only a couple items that we have to go elsewhere for, but those are specialty items that Central Market carries... They just did a remodel about a year ago, and the improvements were quite good... There is a Starbucks inside...pretty decent as in-store Starbucks go... Just noticed in the last couple of weeks that they have bumped up their sushi quality...had some last night, and for grocery store sushi, it was pretty good. read more

The cakes look fresh. I really am hoping the cake turns out great and like the picture I showed the bakery for my sons birthday God willing this Saturday. This review is for the meat department. Some of the guys back there so cool and helpful. And then others just don't give a shit. I bought some meat that did not look especially fresh. I asked the guy for his honest opinion, and he gave me The runaround. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and the meat was spoiled. In fact, it reeked. I don't know how these people can think that anybody, anywhere would like to drive back to the grocery. This is a very nice grocery store, and of the three we go to in Irving, probably where we go most frequently. A few small problems: the produce selection keeps shrinking and with a recent reset, the wine section is also one aisle smaller. My biggest complaint is the community piano. Apparently anyone can play it and most of the folks who play are not very good. I've asked the staff about this. All of them hate the piano, and several have told me it's a source of constant customer complaints. But they aren't allowed to do anything about it. Given all of the complaints here on Yelp, I don't understand why Tom Thumb goes to such lengths to irritate their customers. read more

It's conveniently located in an area with little traffic. It doesn't carry everything, but it has a good beer and wine selection. The meats and produce are also fresh. This pharmacy is terrible!! The communication with the pharmacy tech is horrible. I had to repeat myself multiple times on a refill she didn't understand Which my file was right in front of her... and she was very rude about it. Why do I want to bring my business to rude people and that can't even understand what I'm saying?? This is serious stuff when you are dealing with prescription medications. How can I even trust they will fill it correctly. Scary and sad that this pharmacy operates this way with customers. Then she lied about hours of operation. Who does that? Going to file a complaint then transfer my prescription as I cannot trust them to do the right thing. This was not my first issue with them and communication but will be the last. After reading the other horrible reviews it's about the same I went through. Apparently this happens quite often. read more

The grocery section is great. The pharmacy...not so much. One of the cashiers there is very insensitive and rude. She has an unbecoming, uncaring " take it or leave it" attitude. While in line, I have observed her rudeness to other customers. One was a heart patient whose insurance was no longer covering her medication. This girl did not only not offer suggestions or any kind of help. She was brisk and impatient. She did not show an ounce of compassion for the lady's predicament. This girl needs training in sensitivity and social skills and a manager who will call her out for her really stinky attitude. read more

Horrible management. Items are constantly out of stock and rarely restocked; several shelves are empty and the place literally looks like it's going out of business. The manager makes excuses for shelves being empty and items not being stocked properly. Management needs to be fired and they need to do a much better job of stocking. a few weeks ago, i went back to tom thumb to buy some more acqua panna...as always, the customer service was excellent. and this time, i DID accept the help of the staff to load the box of panna into my car... the next day...i wake up to take a shower and turn the knob...aaaand...there's NO WATER...oh shit...did i forget to pay my water bill?? *mini anxiety attack* i immediately open my front door to see if there was a notice from my leasing office letting me know that my water had been cut off...good news...i didn't forget to pay my water bill...but the water was turned off due to a busted water pipe... i try calling the leasing office and all i get is a pre-recorded message saying that there is no estimated time on when the water will be turned back on...WTF!...i had to take a shower, brush/floss my teeth, and pee before i went to work...what do i do?? fortunately, i was able to perform all activities mentioned above WITHOUT the water being turned on...how? i used some of the panna water to brush my teeth...for my shower...i basically had to open up all the panna and pellegrino i had in the refrigerator and heat it up on the stove...i will save you from all the gory details of this event...but...what should have been a 15 minute affair...took over an hour... that was probably the most expensive shower i have ever taken...i wonder if my apartment will reimburse me for the panna?? oh, and no...i did not pee in the shower ;-) read more

Was VERY disappointed with the check-out person, Megan. She was laughing it up and being very polite to her White customers, while being a little stand-offish and rude to her (Black) baggers. Then when my time to check-out came, I asked for a gift receipt for each gift card I was purchasing and her kind-to-customers demeanor turned a little sour with me, as if she was more interested in just getting the transaction over with. I'm not going to call her a racist outright, but given her inconsistent treatment of customers let's just say I'm glad this isn't my neighborhood grocery store. This location is my favorite grocery store. If I need organic produce or an array of spices I can find it here. If I need fresh coffee beans, panko bread crumbs, artisan cheese, tahini to make hummus, beer, Pocky, fresh avocados, butter lettuce, and saffron I don't need to make multiples stops. Specialty items can be pricey but I know I'm paying for the convenience. GREAT customer service. If you can't find something, an associate won't just point that-a-way, they'll make sure to walk you there. Awesome selection of whole coffee beans and grounds. Even better than Whole Foods I think. It's clean inside and out. There's a Starbucks inside but I've been seeing Starbucks even in Target so maybe that's not very special. Not that I care since I'm boycotting Starbucks to support the locals anyway. read more

Don't buy the meats that are "good deals." They're expired. Also, the Pharmacy is small and convenient, but when the Pharmacist is asking you, out loud, like you did something wrong, as to why the doctor upped your medication dosage for what it seemed to be the whole store to hear, there's something wrong and it is violating hipaa. Please talk to the Pharmacist(s) there to try to be more sensitive and private about our prescriptions. Thank you. read more

I'm only commenting and giving 5 stars because I absolutely LOVE the sushi from here.... Decided to try the sushi at the Las Colinas Tom Thumb.... OMG wow...! This stuff is much better than any sushi i've tried in any American-Japanese restaurants here, for sure. I admittedly have a guilty pleasure of buying crappy grocery store sushi in some attempt to satiate my desire for Japanese food without visiting a restaurant, but suddenly I've found one place I love!! A lot of their rolls are Americanized, but you can still find some fresh sashimi and other side dishes such as seafood salad, dumplings, and some others. read more

The only reason worth visiting a Tom Thumb is for their beer and wine specials. A case of Lone Star is ridiculously cheap but they haven't had it in stock the last two visits.
