I like Komart for certain items that I can't find at H Mart or other Korean groceries. It's definitely showing its age as compared to the sparkling new HMart nearby. Still they have some hard to find items or produce that we like to have in the house. I sometimes pick up the pre-prepared bibimbap veggies and some herbs and perilla leaves. Also maybe mugwart (sometimes I don't know what I'm getting but my SO does and she points it out so I know what it looks like but not what it's called). Recently I could not find a certain type of seaweed anywhere else but Komart had it. It's never crowded and service has always been helpful for me. I have not eaten at the little cafe. I always stop at Ajumma after Komart and get some kimbap or soondae to go. read more

This is a smaller Korean grocery store located near H Mart. It carries most of the items I typically look for at an Asian grocery store, but it's not my favorite overall. I did notice they have a nice variety of bagged, flavored corn snack balls. I picked up the melon-flavored ones to try with my family, and we all thought they were good! They also have a food court, although the options are somewhat limited, similar to the grocery selection. That said, the food looked good, and I'd be interested in trying it next time. After exploring the store, I still prefer my go-to Asian supermarkets in the DFW area, like H Mart and 99 Ranch. However, I do appreciate that they offer items on sale. I personally got here for the first time and we bought a ticket for King Spa and Sauna which was $42 and saving for $8 since the ticket is sold for $50 at the king spa & sauna. I was at this little strip mall buying my dinner from a Korean Frrrrrrried Chicken joint, and upon placing my food order, the girl had suggested I take a stroll around the mall, as there was a 20 minute wait to get my food order. Luckily for me, just across the parking lot was this Korean supermarket called - Komart. Not knowing what a Komart was, I'd figure I'd go inside to check 'em out. I'm so glad I came here as this Korean supermarket kinda reminded me of a "Palama Supermarket" (which I have back home in da 808). Komart is your typical Korean supermarket with a food vendor (within the market) where you can buy freshly made Korean food. There was also a bakery, which sold some beautiful decorated cakes and yummy looking pastries. While walking around Komart, I came across some fresh fruit, so I decided to pick up some Manderines, and upon paying for my Manderines, on my way out of the market I came across another vendor selling Taegu (cuttlefish marinated in a Korean sauce) which is the perfect pupu that goes well with beer, or soda. Great food prices, and the supermarket looked pretty organized, although the inside of the supermarket looked sorta dated. This review is for "Super Komart" not Komart. This is a home appliance store with lots of other things that you might need for your kitchen and home. They have anything from rice cookers, space heaters, blankets, folding tables, to plates and lots of other stuff. Their prices are not super competitive due to their category of imported Korean goods being scarce to find in person. But this is basically your one stop shop if you need something for your home and you come from a Korean/Korean American home. Location is next to Sura under the shaded parking area. This Korean market is located in a small plaza with parking. My husband and I made a stop here on Saturday night to stock up on some food while visiting Dallas. We came about an hour before closing and ended up purchasing some vegetables, fruit, packaged cookies, dry noodles and sliced beef to cook at our AirBnB rental. I liked that there was a nice selection of banchan by the front of the register but wished the food court was still open (the employees behind the food court register told us they were closed and just cleaning up). This market, although smaller than some of the other Korean markets that I frequent, actually has most items that I would typically see. I like that this market does open late and would most likely come back to this market again the next time I fly into Dallas. read more

When we're driving through Dallas and it's time for a meal we always try to stop at Komart for some AMAZING Korean food. You can't beat the taste, portion size and the price. I only pride $7.99 for all of this. Couldn't eat most of it and took it home and my Korean kiddos devoured it! The sides were perfect, the soup yummy and the hot pot was sizzling, the rice on the bottom was crunchy just how I like it and the bibimbap was tasty and so fresh. Komart is a Korean grocery store in Dallas's Ktown off of Royal Ln and 35 that is one of two Korean grocers in the area. Of the two, they are the more well known one because of visibility from the street. The age of Komart shows as it's from an older era. It will have to compete with the newer stores such as H Mart or the just opened Galleria Mart. To discount Komart though because it doesn't look as sleek will prove to be short sighted because you would ignore location. If you're the type that doesn't like the suburbs being included as a part of Dallas, then Komart is great. It's actually the only East Asian grocer in Dallas proper save maybe one or two obscure ones that I cannot currently recall. You want that rice? Those ramen noodles? This ingredient that cannot be found at Kroger? Well, here's your solution. The Asian area of Carrollton is indeed ten minutes away; however, that is ten minutes with no traffic. That stretch of 35 from 635 to George Bush as we all know can be quite the frustration. Aside from the grocery store aspect, Komart also has a food court which is a great place for lunch or a casual dinner. Prices are cheap and the selection can be found on pictures on the wall. To order, you go to the rightmost cashier, Cashier #5, and tell them the number that you would like. After paying, you sit down and wait for your order to be called. I find the food court to have both non-Korean locals and Korean patrons which speaks to how much the place appeals to the community. [03/08/2019] Violation of §228.75(g) Sells expired food openly and blatantly. Breaking Easy to follow health code. Many Package food at this establishment lack labeling like dates. Label should have prepared date, expiration date, name of the item, allergens, and the name and address of the preparer. Two of the packaged food had sell-by-date of 2-27-2019 and 2-28-2019. And today is 3-8-2019. People say they like komart better than hmart because things are slightly "cheaper". But, komart's packaging is more prone to error. Whether they are prepared food or fruits. Komart has inferior business practice than hmart. There used to be 3 komarts. Now, there is only one. Hmart is usually packed and komart, not so much. I usually shop here for imported or branded items. I don't buy their produces or fruits because they can have issues. I sometime buy their sealed kimchi that are also sold at hmart. I don't dine at their food court because the people who produce and sell expired food are they the same people who make these food. If they are comfortable with selling expired items openly and if they are comfortable with skipping easy-to-follow proper labeling then they don't care. The operator wants to make money, and that is it. They will make money with risk of making people sick while selling expired items for profit. It's sad to see all the bad reviews about Komart, so of course I have to join Komart's defense line :) If I remember correctly, Komart came to Dallas circa 2004-5. At that time, Royal Lane was your only destination for Korean food and though there were some local Chinese and Vietnamese supermarkets in DFW, there was no other big Korean supermarket around. Komart paved the way for your beloved Hmart guys! So don't be hating! So you see, Komart was truly a local pioneer and I don't know anyone who didn't love their delicious $5 food court food. Yes, you read that right, their dishes used to be $5-6 each. Inflation aside, I have eaten at this food court since I was a broke college student, frquently visited it with my then boyfriend, and still love it now with my kids in tow. To be honest I am sometimes still amazed that they made it this far. There used to be another Komart branch on Belt Line/ 183 that closed down quickly after it was opened. The Royal Ln Komart stayed and has pretty much remained the same in size and layout. Some food vendors came and went, but everything else seems to stay in a standstill. I even still recognize some of the same cashier and food court workers from way back then. I know it's not as neat and flashy as the new markets. But keep in mind this place has been in operation for more than 15 years. Comparing it to another market in a newly constructed building doesn't seem fair to me. I understand many prople will choose to shop in a nicer store, but as for me, I will keep supporting Komart as long as it's still around. read more

Yeah, we have a few Asain markets in Austin, but nothing compared to Komart (or HMart for sure)...so that's why I visit you and stock up every time I'm in town (I actually bring a cooler). Selection and prices are incomparable. Komart is my OG go-to. Everything you could ask for in a Korean market, including some Japanese fare. ;) Great produce, meat selection, plethora of fresh kimchi marinated noms (YUM - sooooo amazing!) , housemade tofu (silky and firm), live fish and variety of other seafood, tons of dried goods...plus a good little food court, a fresh cooking station to grab a quick and cheap bite to go from, a beauty counter, bakery, and now a full-fledged coffee shop inside. Komart has been around for a loooooong time and is always crowded, so it's a little rough around the edges...no funky smells when you enter though. Not as fancy or large as the big H guys, but Komart's offerings are overall less expensive...and I can still find all the items I need to make my Korean and Japanese dishes at home (bulgolgi, braised ox tails, kimchi nabe,...yes, you're invited). I'm kind of shocked by the poor reviews. But I suppose in the DFW area there is a lot of tough competition for Asian grocery stores. I actually love how uncrowded and unassuming Komart is. It is smaller than hmart and 99 ranch so you won't get all the variety. And sometimes the produce section is actually terrible. But other times you can get a great deal on in season fruits and vegetables. My favorite section is the kimchi! They have someone making all kinds of fresh kimchi and banchan. And it is significantly cheaper than hmart's kimchi. They also have great deals on Korean snacks sometimes. I like buy one get one deals that are hard to pass up. They also sell freshly made rice cakes. They have vendors at the front of the store who sell rice cakes, kimbap and sweets for very cheap. Sometimes I buy their kimbap for lunch and pick up some walnut pastries. I think it is not the cleanest grocery store but it might be because it is older than hmart in Carrolton and Plano. However when I'm in a pinch and don't want to brave the crowds at hmart, I head over to Komart. read more

I love the prepared food you find at this little supermarket. Picked up some yam tempura and ate it with food from a restaurant nearby. My partner is cooking some thick rice noodles we picked up and also bought a stack of absolutely scrumptious almond cookies from the nearby New York Bakery (sold in Komart) - they are seriously good - a hint of the praline, but not so sweet; the thinness of good peanut brittle and the taste of an almond croissant all in one delicious cookie. There is this food court place inside the grocer. You order the food at the grocer checkout counter next to it. Don't expect too much of food recommendations from there, cause people working at the food place don't speak too much English, but the good thing is they have all the pictures shown next to the food items and you just tell the checkout counter people the item number for the food you'd like to order. It's as simple as that. I had short ribs marinated in sweet Korean barbecue source mixed with clear noodles of some sort, and it was very delicious. The ribs were so tender and it melted in your mouth. The portion size was very generous as well. This is more of a 2.5 star review. I definitely prefer hmart compared to here. The food court area is small and unless you speak Korean, then you're definitely going to have a hard time ordering things or even getting directions on how things work here. There are two menu boards up. The right side can be ordered at the counter. The left side cannot. You have to pay for your order first at cash register number 5 and then bring your receipt to the counter and then they make the food. The one sign they have isn't super clear about the second part so beware of that or else you'll never get your food that you paid for. The ladies behind the counter aren't extremely nice and don't know English very well, hence difficulties ordering. I ordered the jjajangmyeon(black bean noodles), steamed dumplings, spicy spare ribs in an earthen pot and the soft tofu and seafood soup. The food was decent but nothing to rave about. Prices are reasonable. There's multiple tables but they aren't large tables so it was a bit cramped for me and my family of 3. The supermarket is extremely cold. They don't have the heater on which sucked. The only good thing about Komart is the fresh made tofu located in the back right hand corner of the store and the fresh red bean filled fish pastries that a lady sells outside the entrance. Other than that, I think I'll stick to Hmart not only for their better service but also better food and cleanliness. read more

It's been a while since me and the Wife ate at the food court in Komart. We started going to Hmart because of Inconsistency of there food. But, we thought to give them another shot. Terrible. Soup is sweet . Korean soup is not sweet. Then when we told them about it they tried to make ever excuse why it wasn't up to par. And then I had to give them another dollar for what I don't know. Very tacky customer service. I think if the Lady would quit texting so much she could produce good Korean food and customers would come back. SAD. I was worry about traffic if I go to red ginseng store at Carrollton.. I decided go to this place and looked up first but omg, they have what I need to buy for my friends. I bought that 3boxes, 1 box for me and 2 box for my friend. And he gave me discounts little bit cuz some of promotion. I could buy that little cheaper than red ginseng store. Considering they make their own tofu here, I expected the soondubu to be A+++++++! It was good but it wasn't great. All the dubu was in tiny broken pieces :( and the egg was way overcooked. It was still delicious but just not as great as I thought. Esp w/o the gooey egg yolk thickening it all up. My biggest complaint is all the damn flies!! Don't order from the cafeteria here. We ordered sullungtang once and the boiled meat was green. Also, the food is clearly not authentic because all of the chefs behind the counter are not Korean. We come here because this area is closer to us than Carrollton, so we buy our kimchi and frozen foods from this location. Prices are on par/slightly more expensive than Hmart, though it has a bit of a dingier vibe. No specials. Quality of the meat here isn't great either, so we don't buy our meat from here. Adding a star because I actually like the dduk that the rice cake lady sells (by the entrance). read more
