Tom Bihn's products are a work of magic. I was in the market for a new work bag, and stumbled upon Tom Bihn's bags in a news article. Initially, I was apprehensive about the high price tag, but eventually bit the bullet and placed an order. After a few weeks of use, I think that the bags are functionally superb. The pockets are so well thought out, and the inclusion of o-rings help welcome an entire suite of additional accessories you can add to customize the hell out of the bag. Furthermore, the removability of the straps help ensure that if you don't need the extra support, you can remove the unnecessary flappy clips for a more streamlined look. Additionally, the ballistic nylon feels very premium, and given the reviews left by others, will be able to last very long. It's so good, that I decided to purchase a second, green, Synik 22 for my photography use. Great product! Great service! You should try it out.

One of the few remaining bag/gear makers that still manufactures in the USA (out of Seattle) with almost 90%+ US-sourced materials. Tom Bihn has been designing and making bags since 1972 by founder and namesake Tom Bihn. What I love about Tom Bihn bags is the outstanding quality, the impeccable craftsmanship, the thoughtful design and almost-bullet-proof materials used throughout the bag! Pair that with one of the best customer service and warranty in the industry and you'll understand why the company and its products have a very strong and loyal following. My current favourite is The Cadet I have three!), a light and durable briefcase that can accommodate even Apple's new and larger 16" Macbook Pro. I love how this bag is so roomy, full of organizational pockets and loops without being bulky or heavy. It's my daily work and travel companion!

Tom Bihn is a very cool store hidden deep in the Industrial District. They sell high-quality and thoughtfully engineered backpacks, bags, and accessories. I don't think this brand is very well known, but they do have a small, cult-like (in a good way) following. You can also find many product videos and reviews on YouTube. Their retail showroom is pretty small and in the same building as their factory. You can actually see the sewing machines only a few feet away! It is so nice to see a business that was founded in Seattle and actually makes its products here. Their website has a short bio of every employee, including the factory workers. Their regular store hours are Monday through Friday, from 6:30 AM to 3 PM. They are also open on occasional Saturdays. One time my husband e-mailed them and they agreed to let him in early one day, which was really cool. I think their customer service is outstanding. We went on a Saturday and they set out homemade cookies (made by the CEO!) and really good coffee (made with a Moccamaster)! I always ask a ton of questions when shopping and the salespeople there were extremely knowledgable and kind. I highly recommend this company. They have a really great website so you can get a lot of good information there and they are also very responsive over e-mail. Go check them out!

    Great local business.

Unfortunately there's not too many of them left. I'll keep going back 2/13/2026. I just received my repaired waxed canvas jacket back. I have worn this coat for at least 7 years and have had two repairs done on it. They do a fantastic job and I could not be happier. The jacket shows every scar from my abuse but I continue to wax it 1-2x per year and it keeps going. If they still made this coat I'd buy another, until then I'll keep getting it repaired. F for customer service…read more I feel bad leaving a poor review especially given that I quite like the owner and have had good experiences with the shop in the past. And have been a loyal customer for many years and have bought a ton of stuff from them. But today I had a terrible experience and I just feel like I need to share it. I went in to rent a pair of skis for my daughter as we wanted to go skiing the next day. It was 4:45 on Sat. Walking in and saying I wanted to rent skis. The young guy behind the counter asked me if I had an appointment. I said no, I no idea I needed an appointment for a one-day rental. Then he said I'm sorry I won't be able to help you we close in 14 minutes. Well, first closing at 5pm when you're a rental shop during the ski season seems a little early but OK. I said are you sure I just need skis and that shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes (I used to work in a rental shop and setting up rental skis is really very quick). But he said no, it would not be possible. There were no other customers in the shop so it was unclear what else would be taking his time, but clearly not helping me. He very unhelpfully suggested that I could come back in the morning and that they open at 11. Which is pretty useless if you want to ski that same day. The fact that he suggested that as a solution is just more evidence that he had zero interest in listening to what I need or in any way finding a way to help me. I hope this is an anomaly and not what I can expect from the shop going forward. I really enjoy having a local ski shop in West Seattle and I hope that my future experiences will be like all my previous ones.
