Had a mostly good experience with Tom & Jerry Moving. When I first contacted them, the owner got back to me quickly and maintained good communication. After a little back and forth, I got a good flat rate quoted for my move. The day of the move, the guys showed up a tad late (only 40 minutes or so, but called ahead), which is to be expected. They came with a huge truck, were nice the whole time and worked efficiently and quickly. The whole move took about 4 hours or so for a one-bedroom apartment moving a half-mile away. A couple small negatives are the reason I didn't give them five stars. For one, the guy who took my money was kind of guilt-tripping me a couple times because they technically worked more than what I paid. (It's a flat rate, so there should be no haggling; plus, I worked my butt off helping them the whole time.) Secondly, a few items had some dings and we're missing a box or two. But compared to other movers I've dealt with in the past, Tom & Jerry is one of the best, so I recommend them. read more

I recently used Tom and Jerry for a cross town move. They provided great service prior to the move, updating me on arrival time and double checking the size of the truck. I had a small amount of items, but they were very efficient and friendly. They even took extra time to get my box spring up the stair well (my bad for not measuring), and wanted to make sure it was a job well done. Bonus points for going out to the truck to get a wrench to tighten a screw on a chair leg that was already loose before the move. My wife and I were moving from our 4th story apartment to a 2-story house. After doing some research, based on the reviews on Yelp and other sites, I ended up going with Tom & Jerry Moving. In addition to good reviews, they were available for a Sunday move which we needed. I got a quote from the owner, Brandon, in a 24 hour turn-around which I would consider a little slower than average, but to be fair, they don't have a receptionist to pay for so you do get a better compared to others. The day of the move overall went well. Brandon was communicative and flexible to start an hour later than scheduled to get past the rain. Brandon, along with two helpers, got started quickly as we already had everything boxed and the furniture plastic wrapped (not my first move), so nothing to do but load the truck. Nothing was damaged in the move and the guys were extremely friendly. My biggest complaint is the amount of time it took. We had the same furniture, TVs, and number of boxes when we moved in, yet this move took twice as long as when we moved into the apartment (which included a stop at a storage unit). The movers were just not as efficient as the 3 movers would all be done loading the truck as opposed to one or two loading the truck and the other shuffling furniture from the apartment to the freight elevator to keep it in constant motion (which was done by the move-in movers). Also, please be aware that a moving company in Texas is, by law, required to be registered by the state to ensure companies comply with insurance and safety laws. WOW. These guys are GREAT. The communication was excellent from the get-go. The guys, Brandon and Justen, were professional and polite. They were on time and efficient. They worked steadily, capably and knowledgeably. We had only one bedroom to move from Austin to Dallas. They arrived around 9 AM and got right after it. My husband commented that they were 'stellar' in their operation. You know how some movers can be pretty creepy, well these guys are NOT. I called at least 5 movers. All were competitively priced. Which do I chose? When I called Tom & Jerry the (very polite) Tom answered all of my questions. He was helpful, and even reassured me that while many movers might be priced around the same amount, his company would do a great job and take care of my stuff. Good thing he was right! Moving day is stressful. For everyone. Especially when you are moving long distance and have only one shot to do it right. My electricity was shut off a day early. In June. In Texas. Aka 100 degree weather. I had thought I reserved a 16 foot truck. When I arrived at the truck rental, it seems I chose a 12 foot. Oops. Can all of my stuff fit it there? Tom & Jerry Movers to the rescue! The movers arrived promptly, and started working right away. Both the movers and myself were skeptical that all of my stuff would fit in the truck. After my major furniture was loaded, (down 4 flights of stairs mind you) I was really starting to worry. There's no way I was going to fit the 30 random boxes and other miscellaneous items along with the furniture, in the truck that was too small. I was starting to mentally decide what belongings I would have to abandon. Bye Bye bike. So long reclining chair. When I headed downstairs, I was amazed.. I repeat, AMAZED that the movers fit everything into the truck. They fandangled and tetris-ed everything in. I was certain that it wouldn't all fit. And somehow they managed. I was beyond grateful. These guys moved me from one 2-story apartment into another 2-story apt. this weekend and it went very smoothly. They arrived exactly when they were supposed to, the guys were very nice, friendly and hard-working. I had a good amount of furniture & 75 heavy boxes of books, and I was seriously impressed at how quickly they were able to load and unload the truck, especially with stairs involved. We used Tom & Jerry to help us load for a recent cross-country move. The guys were prompt and polite, however they did not do the best job of packing for items to not get damaged. I provided padding for wrapping furniture and they preferred to just use plastic which does not protect well. My dining room chairs had wood chips out of the legs, dining room table was chipped in 2 places on top due to it not being carefully packed in the truck. I asked that there were 3 boxes (out of the entire house of items) to be careful with because it was my wedding china. When I checked the truck, they were stacked sideways and on the bottom. read more

I found T&J on Yelp and thought I'd get a bid. The 2 owners, both in their early 30's, plus one more mover charged me $310 to move me from a 3rd floor apartment, with a distance of over 25 miles. They were polite, extremely helpful and very careful. They moved over 200 large boxes, tons of furniture, helped take apart and reassemble furniture, and then helped us load up a truck and trailer, moving items OUT of the new place to take to storage...which took over an hour by itself! Having gone through multiple moves, I've generally found that it is extremely hard if not impossible to find good movers. Tom and Jerry moving under Brandon definitely turned out to be an exception to that opinion when they helped me move late last year. They were tremendously courteous and adequately professional. All our items were moved without dents or scratches although it was only a 15-30 min move. Reasonable pricing, professional and on time move and an overall pleasant experience. Hard to beat!! Just used Tom & Jerry moving this past weekend. I was impressed with the men and their hard work ethic, but was SHOCKED when the final bill came. I was quoted a reasonable price by Brandon initially through email and then charged 3 times more than that! Definitely the most expensive move I have ever experienced, especially for a one bedroom move. I have used a few other companies in the DFW metroplex that have all been cheaper and done just as great of a job, I just couldn't secure any of them on the Sunday I needed. This review is long over due. We have used these guys twice. The owners name is Brandon. I called on them to help my mom move and downsize her home in 2013. Last June I called on them again to move us from a house to an apartment. The second time I called on Brandon to move us it was pouring rain and we were moving up three flights of stairs! It's hard to see other people moving your things & especially in the pouring rain, but Brandon is a really good guy and a hard worker. I can't recall who was with him the second time but they both worked so hard and didn't complain one bit and they worked so fast never lallygagging! The first move was difficult as I was handling the move from out of state and over the phone. I even handled the payment over the phone. I was nervous working from out of state but things worked out well and without issue. I had to move from a 3/2 house into a 1/1 apartment with a small office. I called Tom and Jerry and was told it might take 5 hours. It was completely done in 3. They got there exactly on time, busted their butts from the word go, and got everything there without a scratch, dent or break. (Not counting the ones the last movers left me with.) And then they "forgot" to tell you that they charge something that looks like sales tax (8.25%) at the bottom of the receipt. Even though there is no tax on labor in Texas! For no apparent reason. My girlfriend and I used Tom & Jerry Moving last week, when we moved from our two bedroom duplex into our new home about 10 miles away on the other side of Dallas. I took the morning off work to be at the house during the process and I must say, I usually dislike using movers (who knows what is going to happen to my stuff?) but these guys are GREAT. They showed up right on time, came running up to look me in the eye, shake my hand, and introduce themselves (both guys - Brandon and Jamie). They handled all of our stuff with great care, and as they loaded things into the covered moving truck, they literally RAN back to grab the next item. Brandon even double wrapped some of the dressers and drawers that I had already wrapped - just to make sure it was all carefully moved. They quoted me 3 hours and got it all done in 2.5!!
