This review is for the auto detailing at Tom Ahl. I thought a relative's 2006 Ford truck was a hopeless case as it had been sitting for months in her driveway. The inside smelled moldy and the red paint was very chalky. The seats were filthy because she had piled the seats full of junk that needed to be taken to the dump. I took it to Tom Ahl's for detailing after reading reviews. I wasn't really expecting that they would be able to do much for it since it was in such bad shape, inside and out. When I picked the truck up I was totally amazed. I have gone to Tom Ahl for a number of years to purchase our vehicles, and I have always worked with one salesman. This afternoon I went in to test drive some trucks my salesman was busy with two other customers. Ironically, no other salespeople were with other customers. Upon returning from a test drive, I sat and waited for my salesman to become available. Not once did any of the other salespeople come and ask if they could help me. They could have easily helped in showing me other vehicles. After waiting for 25 minutes, someone brought out 3 or 4 pies. The salespeople and others from the offices came dashing to the location of the pies. At that point I left. My salesman called later to apologize. Maybe there is a reason the other salespeople had no customers and mine had 3. Absolutely inexcusable! read more

While my interaction with Tom Ahl Dodge was brief, it was such a refreshing change to the other dealerships I have been in contact with so it deserves a moment of my time to share with others. I have been on the look out for the very popular and hard to get Challenger Hellcat when I was given a tip that Tom Ahl was getting a Charger Hellcat in that was not spoken for. I had a brief email exchange with Bob Schmersal as I was in China at the time. Bob was quick to respond and offer me the car at MSRP. Which is more than fair. Alas, the charger build was out of my price range and I had to decline, but this quick interaction proves to me that these guys are a legitimately honest dealership. I left the interaction WANTING to give them my money. The clowns around me in So Cal want $30K over MSRP for the same car. I bought 2 cars here at Tom Ahl and they always went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. They sent me follow up cards in the mail telling me if I needed anything or had any questions to please not hesitate to call them. They take customer satisfaction very seriously and it shows. They didn't charge me any extra to buy a**Certified Car" like some dealerships try to do (they try to say if you want you car "certified" (one that's major parts like the engine are covered for an extended period of time so if they stop working they are replaced at no charge) you have to pay more. If I still lived in Lima I would still be buying my cars from Mr Ahl's dealership. read more

My son had Tom Ahl's auto body department fix his car from an accident where he was rear ended while on vacation. When it was finally done he had me go over to pick it up because he was out of state. I had to walk a bit of a distance over to where the car was parked that was with other damaged cars. When I got into the car I noticed the passenger window was down just a bit. Since it was extremely hot I didn't think much about it. I took the car and parked it in a safe spot at his grandmothers. When he returned for his car we discovered mold on the passenger side and growing further. When we notified the customer service for the auto body department we were told they couldn't do anything about it. Guess it's my word against theirs. I love always thought Tom Ahl's was a place of integrity. In fact I've bought several cars from them because of that reason but will not go there now. Not even for a simple oil change. read more

I have been looking for a Charger R/T AWD in the Columbus area. Saw one at AHL's, a 2014 SXT AWD with 22,000 miles. I am very picky on finish, paint and cleanliness. Brie on the chat line was very helpful and answered all of my (numerous) questions. She followed up a few days later to see if I needed any additional help. I was contacted by Adam Hooker regarding car #1 I was interested in. I work two jobs so could not get there (100 miles) when they were open. I was able to get there late on a Saturday afternoon and view the car I was interested in. To my surprise, there were 8 Chargers lined up in a row. After being able to easily compare colors (the most important thing isn't it?) and read all the window stickers I found car #2 with upgrades like Nav and sunroof . Adam worked patiently with me, with absolutely no pressure. I am a tire kicker and thoroughly check out my purchases (which sometimes get away). I plan on purchasing the vehicle in the next few days after a test drive and personal inspection. It was worth the drive from Columbus and the price was more than fair compared to other cars out there. I am sorry I will not be able to take advantage of the service department due to distance, but would expect the same treatment that I have received so far. read more

I am from New York and I flew here with my Wife and Son to pick up a 2018 Dodge Durango. I am the one in my group of friends and family that is usually dragged or persuaded to come to dealerships and do the whole song and dance, I have negotiated about 15-20 car leases now. I have to say Tom Ahl has been the SMOOTHEST, the EASIEST, and the most PLEASANT experience I have ever had in a dealership. They picked us up from the Airport in Detroit about 2 hours away from the dealerhsip. Words cannot even explain how grateful I am and how nice everyone in there was. A big thanks to Tom Brown who walked me through everything over the phone was transparent and honest with all the numbers and everything involved with getting the car on the road. Bill Hoffman walked me through all the features the car had and took us for a nice test drive to feel how the car drove. Jeremy Addis the Finance guy had all the paperwork ready for us to sign with no surprises. These three gentlemen treated us like family. Never in my life have I been treated so rudely when attempting to rent a car. My personal car died on the highway. I called AAA to pick it. While waiting, I called Tom Ahl's to see about lining up a rental. I was told that unless I was having my vehicle towed there-they didn't have a car for me. Only upon asking to be transferred to someone I know that works there did the guy on the phone even ponder to help me out. He was snotty when asking if I have full coverage insurance, even questioned me about it as if I was lying (I wasn't); he then said I'd have to have $150 deposit. I told him it wasn't a problem. Finally and very reluctantly sounding, he said if I get there by 6, he'd have a car for me to rent. I called my insurance company and asked them to call him and give him the info regarding my coverage. My agent said he was snotty to her too. After my experience today, if that's the way Tom Ahl's does business, I'd have to think twice about wanting to ever do business there again. read more

I bought a brand new Hyundai there and have had go to Tom Ahl to get warrenty service done several times .Also with several hundred cars on the lot I was told that they didn't have to give me a loaner car so they would not. It wouldn't start several times and it took them months to fix it. There were several recalls also that they argued that they didn't need to give me a loaner car. read more

I will share my true and honest experience with you from this weekend. We arrived at the dealership ready to make a deal after doing loads of research and knowing what we wanted and how much we wanted to pay. We were greeted by Matt Steiner who seemed nice at first. We told him the car we wanted to test drive and it took it maybe 15 minutes to pull it up for us. He apologized that it hadn't been detailed yet, even though we know for a fact according to carfax the car had been on their lot for months. The inside had trash, food and there was even a hole in the rear tail light. After driving the car, we told Matt we would be willing to buy today if we could come to an agreement on a price. He immediately said that he did not have "thousands" off of the price of the car. "are you serious?" What a horrible way to start negotiating, the car cost 25k and was already listed thousands above other dealers. we continued on and he immediately wanted to get the trade in value for our car which we knew would be his next scam but even when he said we didn't want to discuss our trade until we had talked about the price of the car he insisted that their appraiser was getting ready to leave and if we wanted to buy today we had to do it now so we agreed. Surprise, surprise, they came back with a very low ball offer for our trade which was highly laughable. We told Matt in a nice way that we were way too far off on the price of our trade and the price of the car (even though they didn't offer to come down on the price of the car a single cent!) and after we said that he immediately got up from his desk and went over to the door and held it open! We sat there in the seats shocked that he would exhibit such rude behavior. Needless to say, we are extremely happy with the deal that we received from another dealer just hours later. We did get thousands off the price of the car AND received two thousand dollars more for our trade! read more
