First off, Tolon has a lot of awesome competition in Fort Wayne. So many options for real food sourced locally in this area. Tolon prides itself on being the first farm to table in Ft Wayne and just between you and me, it's my new favorite restaurant...ever. The owners, wife and chef husband team, have a killer menu and staff to back up their great food. We had the steak, lamb, brussels, hard boiled eggs and their three main desserts. The lamb and the apple crumble dessert was the best food I've had in a long time! I loved the aesthetic of the table wear and branding on the salt on the table. Everything was very thought out. They also have a gallery of art on the walls by a local artist and you're welcome to buy anything you like! To top it off, the food was quality of a big city but with MUCH better prices! I was there on a week night so it wasn't too busy but I can see how this place would be impossible to get into on the weekends. I'm not sure how kid friendly it is as we didn't have any kids with us and didn't see any. I'm sure you could find something on the menu but that wasn't on my mind when we went. Truly a place to go and experience!! To start with the wait staff is knowledgeable about what is on the menu and their suggestions are always spot on. We luv that the menu will change with the seasons always giving us a reason to go back. The food was damn good, a little small on the portion size but the taste more than makes up for it! Tolon is a "farm to fork" restaurant (the first in Fort Wayne!) offering modern twists on Midwestern cuisine. They have a seasonal menu featuring solely local ingredients and are located right in the center of downtown. The interior is so warm and cozy and was the ideal place to spend a rainy afternoon. I will admit the lunch menu looked more appetizing than dinner, so I was excited that our timing worked out to try it. Husband ordered the pork rinds with cheese powder for an appetizer (I stayed away, lol). I ordered THE BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH EVER with honey, blue cheese aioli, and bread and butter pickles and it was SO GOOD! BUT THEN...Husband ordered a pot pie that made me want to send back my sandwich. It was full of veggies and herbs and everything else good under a pastry crust. SO INCREDIBLE! We topped off our lunch with some homemade (on the premises!) ice-cream. I think our flavor was brown butter pecan or something wonderful like that. It was thick and delicious and everything that ice-cream should be. Needless to say, I hope to be back to Tolon very soon in the near future! I'm interested to try the dinner menu, although it will be hard to pull me away from all the lunch goodness. And I know the menu will change again soon, so I'll look forward to checking out next season's offerings. Tolon has upped their menu and a new go to for us! Service is solid and friendly. My personal fave is the spaghetti and meatballs like no other! Pasta, small meatballs in a Bianca sauce - to die for! Last two visits I had to have. Burger is a safe bet also. Deviled eggs, shrimp app also a solid bet. Try main dining room or bar, not a fan of front annex room. Tolon was my number one for a long time. Something has changed. Today they were not on. I had the salmon with lentils and caramelized onions. The lentils were boring and undercooked. The onions were cold and made in something far detached from the salmon and didn't fit together. I will go again, but not thrilled with today's salmon. read more

Tolon never disappoints. We dined here for Valentine's dinner and were blown away, as usual. Not only is the food fresh and obviously well thought out, but the atmosphere is inviting and the staff is always friendly. For starters we ordered the crispy brussel sprouts with pickled chilies, which were fried to perfection, along with the crispy pork belly with noodles and red chili tahini sauce. For dinner we split the bacon cheeseburger, with bacon jam and the star of the show... duck fat frites dipped in basil mayo. I regret not saving room for dessert, but the portions are more than enough for two people. Fort Wayne is beyond blessed to have this restaurant in town. read more

Food has never been a disappointment. Prices aren't low but IMO they are well justified by the quality of both food and service. The food changes all the time so you can return often without getting bored. They almost always have a steak and a pork chop on the menu done in some seasonal fashion. I've had several versions and they're always amazing. They always have bone marrow on the menu and we get it every time. Very nicely done. Atmosphere is casual for the most part. You'll see plenty of people dressed nicely for a night out and others in a pair of jeans and sneakers. We've sat at the bar and tables and both have been great. Bar staff is helpful and fun! Servers are professional and very friendly. This is our go to special occasion spot. I don't think you would be made to feel out of place with kids (especially with an earlier reservation) but I haven't seen kids in here before. We have three and haven't taken them only because this is our date night spot. Highly recommend making a reservation! read more

Always a great place to have amazing food. Was treated to dinner by my son, something we do when I come for a visit and never disappointed in the food, service and ambiance. Laid back atmosphere with some really great seasonal food choices. I had the Bison bolognese, he had butternut squash bisque and shrimp with cauliflower grits finished it of with the chocolate layer cake and a glass of Port. Service and mixologist top notch. OMG. We were told about this spot by a waiter at another restaurant and thank god he did. Tolon is an unassuming restaurant that has a small but nice parking lot to the side. The decor inside is gorgeous. They have three huge beautiful oil paintings and exposed brick on the walls. On nicer days you can sit outside on their front patio. We came here before the Fort Wayne restaurant week but I recommend going here at any time. We ordered the brussel sprouts and the carrot coconut curry soup. It was amazing!! I'm always a fan of brussel sprouts but the curry soup was one of the best I've had. The warm spice from the curry was just enough to tell you you're eating curry but not enough where it overpowered the other flavors. The soup was balanced and fresh and I want it in my life 24/7. The duck was so good. Each slice had a nice char on the outside. One was medium rare while the other was cooked medium. I liked both options so it worked but the breasts weren't cooked consistent. The apple parsnip purée was delicious and I definitely wanted more of it. They also had a dog jam on top of the duck which was a great add and not too much sweetness. I loved everything at this farm to table restaurant. The flavors on frites with aioli are exceptional! Because I was dining alone, it was helpful to be able to request a half order although it appears the chef was very generous with the serving. My salmon entree was cooked to perfection. I was skeptical about the flavor combinations on the bourbon ice cream sundae but it was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed that the peanut brittle wasn't as tough as you'd expect brittle to be. It also combined really well with the chocolate cake crumble. Do not miss the smoked sazerac made with a local whiskey. The service was also very attentive and pleasant. Shout out to Rachel! I was lucky enough to get a patio table where the tables were well spaced out. Absolutely delightful find during my work trip to Fort Wayne. Walking distance from the convention center. I'm visiting Fort Wayne for a conference so I happened to dine alone. The restaurant was buzzing and since I was a single person I sat at the bar. When I arrived Troy the bartender immediately poured me water and brought me a drink menu. I asked questions to help me with my decision and he was extremely attentive and accommodating. I was extremely grateful for his ability to make me feel comfortable in a place I've never been before. Throughout my experience I had the help of Troy and the privilege of seeing the head chef a few times. He was also super friendly. My food was delicious and inventive. I had the corn soup with the lobster slaw and the scallops. The soup reminded me of elote but at the same time of a lobster roll. My scallops were good. But I have to say the soup excited me most. I took the roasted pineapple cream pie to go since I got so full. I haven't dug into it yet but I'm willing to bet I'll be impressed. Overall, I appreciate you other yelpers for your awesome reviews. I've heard about Tolon for so long (very, very overdue for my first visit). I'm so glad I finally stopped in for my friend's birthday celebration. The service was super accommodating. Over waitress was very communicative and polite. The food and drinks were exemplary. I sampled the octopus app with my friends. I enjoyed an amoretto sour with a shrimp asparagus risotto. I had never tried risotto, so I can assume this was top notch because it was very savory with the asparagus and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. And as far decor/atmosphere goes, it felt like home. Warm and inviting. The stainless steel stemless glasses for water were a nice touch. As an architectural designer, I can tell someone paid great attention to the whole restaurant concept here. Marvelous halibut, line caught from New England and never frozen, cooked perfectly, with a flavorful but not overpowering pesto sauce on a bed of orzo with lightly cooked farm fresh veggies tossed with a hint of vinaigrette. Just so perfectly executed that I will certainly make the trip here again and bring friends!
