This review is for an ubereats order. Tokyo Hot Fried Chicken delivered a pretty flavourful and hefty meal. We ordered the Hungry Man combo: a chicken sandwich, 4 chicken drumsticks/wings, and a whole lot of fries. We also ordered an extra sandwich to go with all this. The chicken sandwiches were very crispy and well seasoned. The hot sauce they use is quite spicy and even a medium packs quite a bit of heat. Drumsticks/wings were very similar tasting though it's topped with Wasabi mayo and onions. The fries were a bit soggy but that may be due to the delivery, though it does the job. We also ordered coleslaw but the amount we received was pitiful compared to the price (see picture). Overall, the chicken was pretty good but the sizing of the coleslaw definitely soured my experience. I'd advise against ordering any sides and just go with the chicken sandwiches.

This picture is deceiving the sandwich is actually bigger than how it looks this is the Nashville fried chicken sandwich

I ordered one of each of their special chicken sandwiches the Nashville and then a Tokyo I am pretty sure I received two of the same sandwiches the Nashville sandwich because they looked identical and they tasted the same the Tokyo sandwich was supposed to come with a ginger slaw and crispy onions and I did not taste or see any ginger or onions on my sandwich so that was a little bit of a letdown because I really wanted to try both of them what I will say it is very unique I have never tasted chicken sandwich like this in my life it had dry spices on it rather than a sauce the chicken was tender but it had a crunch to it but the crunch was empty in some parts of the batter if that makes sense The slaw was good it wasn't too saucy and the pickle was perfect tasted like a pickle LOL overall it's a good chicken sandwich I'm just disappointed that I didn't get to try the other flavor

This review is for a delivery order. When the resource for my go to Korean fried chicken cancelled the delivery unceremoniously I had to switch gear quickly for a backup. This place was bookmarked for a while and with a somewhat quick delivery time frame it was a no brainer. Oh boy did they deliver pun intended. Folks this is the best fried chicken sandwich in the city imo. For starters they use dark meat which is much flavorful imo, nice add on of pickle and red cabbage as well. I really enjoyed the heat kick as well which was balanced with a sweet finish on the bun. A lot of thought has been put into getting this sandwich right so kudos for the effort. I ordered the vegetable gyoza side as was on promo. Decent for what they are. A solid 4 stars and if you covet the best fried chicken sandwich in the city this is it folks.

A random virgin cocktail they made me
    Miss Lady ..

Had the tokyo fried chicken sandwhich and Japanese poutine. I was expecting the flavors to have a punch but it didn't really. The poutine was a little bit salty and had a bit of a sweet flavor to it. It's nice for a change. Even though this place says that it's halal, it's a legit full bar *face palm. I thought it was just a restaurant. They didn't really officially have any virgin cocktails/mocktails on the menu but they threw together a little something for me which was nice; A pineapple cranberry ginger ale soda or something to that effect. The meal was good for a change, and a little Fusion cuisine, but it's not something that I will return to personally. Lots of Booth seating and table seating, aside from a really long bar. Green P street parking outside and they take Visa.

    Underground Combo Special

Hidden gems are rarely this literal. Tokyo Hot Fried Chicken is tucked away on the 5th floor of a building that looks nothing like a food haven. You can either take the elevator or go up 5 flights of stairs to reach a doorway that doesn't at all hint at a place where really good fried chicken can be found. I've been here twice now for lunch with friends, and we are unanimous in our praise of the food and the service. I think the people that run Tokyo understand the limitations of their space and menu, and so go over and above with their friendliness and service (e.g., both times we ordered takeout but decided to eat there; both times they bent over backwards making us feel welcomed with an impromptu table, water, check-ins on how we were finding things, etc) But with me, it's mainly about the food. While I liked their signature Tokyo Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich (good portion size, nice fry, tasty sauce, but the slaw was limp and stringy, and the bun was too thick), the real hidden star of this place are the boxes. I got the Underground Combo Special, which has basically everything they serve (chicken karaage, Tokyo hot chicken, takoyaki and tofu on a bed of purple rice). The chicken was crispy and "popped" in your mouth (from a flavour and texture perspective), the takoyaki was nice and chewy, the tofu provided a good taste contrast to the chicken, and the purple rice just was a great base to everything. I heard about Tokyo because of the sandwich, but will definitely be coming back for the boxes. Hope this place doesn't stay hidden for long, coz I'd hate to lose out on having more of it!

Tokyo Hot Fried Chicken has been on my radar for quite some time and I just had to go in and give it a try! It was SOOOOO GOOD! I am forever a lover of Japanese style food combined with American eats....fusion foods which is my type of place. I highly recommend trying their fried chicken - it's got some kick to it but totally amazing. I love that their food is colourful, rich in flavour and really tasty! They have excellent customer service and truly a good vibe there! The interior design is cool with fun staff. You must try the Sweet Garlic Tokyo Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich, Gyoza and Takoyaki! Don't forget to try their curried tater tots (like a poutine)....it's out of this world! I'd highly recommend this place to anyone. It has some of the most unique food combos that you can't find everywhere. I cant wait to go back and visit!

    Double stacked chicken sandwich
    Tammy N.

Double stacked sandwich: geez this was huge! I actually split this with someone for dinner due to the size. Comes with spicy mayo, horse radish mayo, and soya sauce on the side. They were very generous with the chicken and slaw. I found it oilier than other sandwiches I've had, but not enough to make me feel greasy. Chicken was a big inconsistent, some pieces juicy while some a bit dryer. Nashville sandwich was amazing too! Mealbox spicy sesame: came with a box of purple rice and 3 giant pieces of fried chicken. It was good but I prefer their sandwiches.

    Nashville Ice

I won a giveaway to get 2 Nashville Ice. The reason I give 3 starts are because of the service and the brioche bun. We went right when they open, however it took more than 30 minutes to get our food, and the customers that came after us had got their food. I understand that we won a giveaway. Onto the Nashville Ice, it was our first time having chicken sandwich with an ice cream. It is unique, and we love the kick on the honey sauce. The fries chicken is so crispy, flavorful, and juicy in the inside. Perfect! We love the seasoning. However, we are not a fan of the brioche bun, especially the texture.

Great Tokyo Fried chicken sandwich! Got takeout and enjoyed it. Tip: dont use up all of the soy sauce on the burger. Chicken was juicy, tasted fresh and the fusion toppings hit the spot! Highly recommended

    Nashville Chicken

Badass Logo, Badass Food Went on multiple occasions consistent quality and taste. A nice departure from typical fried chicken. Reasonable portion reasonable pricing. In advance, just remember to ask for extra napkins. Sandwiches - Tokyo Hot Fried Chicken - Nashville Hot Fried Chicken ( winner ) Both seem to be the same thing with Tokyo having more of an Asian flair but didn't get much think a dash of soy sauce would have helped. In the end, Nashville came up as the winner for me. The simple bun, chicken, slaw, pickle, and heat combo just worked. Boxes - Karaage ( winner ) - Tokyo Hot Fried Bed of rice, large pieces of fried chicken. You simply get more flavors with the Karaage. The inclusion of the seaweed and ginger flavors was a better package overall in my opinion. Poutine - It's different, I am not sure if it's for everyone thou. It came topped with this yellow masala tasting sauce. Didn't really blend in well with the fries as it did with the other items. Overall would recommend checking out Tokyo. A unique set of flavors, with all the fixings and the grease to keep you satisfied.

Cannot say enough about the scrumptiousness of this sandwich! My friend and I roam around the city hunting down fried chicken sandwiches and were in the middle of waiting for ours here when the staff/manager/owner(?) appeared & had the AUDACITY to declare this as one of the BEST we'll have ever eaten!! Oh yeah?? Yeah. Dudes and dudettes, it was gggggreat. It's a generous crispy piece of juicy kara-age chicken on a brioche with pickles and coleslaw. It is filling and just gets to the point of umami deliciousness ASAP from the first bite. They make sure that there is a crispy layer of skin to cover the burger area with every bite. It had just the right juiciness and did not soak the paper, right to the end. This is no gamble. It is the real deal if you have a craving for no nonsense fried chicken sandwiches.

Takeout order: Chicken Karaage 10 box order, Tokyo Smoke fried chicken 5 box order, Jackfruit skewer, Fries-
    Gigi L.

Ordered through UberEats. We always have a concern with takeout that fried food may arrive soggy but the fried chicken came fast and was hot and crispy! Kid approved for the chicken Karaage and the Tokyo Hot fried chicken had great spice heat for us adults. So glad it wasn't a mild spice, some places say spicy and it's so mild but this was a lovely good hotness!! The chicken portions were good and NO BONES- we loved that. The fries were ok not the best, kids said too little amount. Overall Would definitely order again!

Appropriately named, Crave Wings unlocked the key to my heart with the first bite! As I take a gulp-sized swallow to avoid drooling at the memory of the deliciousness I experienced here. Both the wings and fries were phenomenally yummy! I decided to dine inside because I wanted to experience everything fresh and hot! Upon entering, the mix of greens, woods, and spacious seating was very inviting. However, the service was just decent. Now, let's talk about the food. I was disappointed with the size of the chicken wings compared to other places I've been to. The fries were okay but lacked a punch in flavour. As for the wings, I tried the BBQ bases, KBBQ, and Hickory Smoked BBQ. Despite being advertised with a bit of 'heat,' I could hardly taste any. The dipping sauce was also quite runny compared to the thicker consistency I prefer. Overall, I was a bit let down after all the hype on social media. Many say the U.S. locations are better. It doesn't hurt to try, but there are other wing places that I'd prefer.

The soft opening was 2022-11-17 and grand opening will be on 2022-11-26. On grand opening day, the first 100 customers will get a 6-piece wing combo (worth $14.99). There were 4 of us for dinner. We ordered the following (combos come with fries and a drink). Most wings come with a choice of 2 flavours (except the Tenders only have 1 flavour choice) ranging from not spicy up to 5 flames. 1. Tenders Combo ($12.99) with Honey Garlic. 2. Classic Wings Combo ($14.99) with Spicy Korean Q and Hawaiian. 3. Boneless Wings Combo ($14.99) with Hickory Smoked BBQ and Lemon Pepper. 4. Mixed Wings Combo ($14.99) with Mango Habanero and Louisiana Rub. 5. Cajun Fried Corn ($6.99). 6. Triple Chunk Brownie ($2.99) x 2. With the 4 combos, we chose the following fries and drinks: - Fries: regular, Cajun, parmesan, voodoo. - Drinks: Iced Tea, Root Beer, Fanta x 2. The wings are regular-sized, not the larger buffalo-sized. All the flavours we chose were delicious. We were surprised that the fries were full-sized with the combo, not a smaller amount that I would expect with a combo. I loved the voodoo fries. The 4 combos were more than enough for 4 of us; we had to take home the equivalent of 2 fries and 2 Brownies. The corn was nice - I could have eaten a lot more! I heated a Brownie in a microwave and it was delicious. The staff is so courteous and helpful. There is plenty of indoor seating. The restaurant is clean. The interior is tastefully decorated. I like the lit-up circular centerpiece saying "Danforth". There is no free WiFi (but there will be in the future). The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms but they are not wheelchair accessible. There are high chairs for young kids. There is paid and free neighbourhood parking. Review 2022-128

Parking is behind the entrance and you do have to pay. I think if you come after 6pm, or maybe it was 7pm? It's only $3.50 (CAD if you're reading this from the US or something. All prices are in CAD because it's in Canada obviously. Lol) for overnight? Normally $2.50 an hour or something like that. I found out about the place on a YouTube video from CantoMando (I was going to try The Heartbreak Chef's food as well, but it seemed like they closed down?). A lot of the time stuff from social media turns out to be ehhh whatever, but not this place! I didn't capture the interior, but it had a very nice cozy vibe. There were beanbag chairs, some toys and stuff on a shelf to play with. The seating was mostly booth style with some having chairs that were nicely cushioned and everything was well kept. The bathroom had a funny don't clog it or you have to fix it sign and the table had a qr code for a digital menu as well as a notice that they discourage tipping! I love that! Tipping has been getting out of control everywhere... Anyway, enough of that. You want to know about the food, right?! Wow! The food here is amazing! I wanted to try all the different sauce flavors. The waiter at first couldn't think up the best way to do that, so he consulted his coworker. (Both very nice people, definitely hope to see them again when I visit with more of my family next year.) We ended up ordering the Sarang Platter as recommended by the waitress/hostess/cashier since we had a party of 3. The chicken was extremely crispy, moist, juicy and well seasoned. The squid and fries as well, minus the juicy moist part. Lol Every sauce flavor was great. I couldn't even rank them from favorite to least favorite. To me, they were all equally good, just depends what you're in the mood for at the time. You can't go wrong either way, unless you're just a picky eater and don't like certain things like garlic, green onion, soy sauce, honey, etc. Lol But honestly, you don't even need the sauce! I would have been perfectly happy with the entire platter and no sauces! The pickled daikon confused me as first with the color added. I'm so used to seeing it just white, but it was perfectly crunchy, sweet and vinegary. Compliments to the chef! Portion size is generous. It was listed as for 3 people, but it could have fed 4 no problem. Oops, I forgot to mention the coleslaw thing. It was just meh. Basically thousand Island dressing with thinly shredded cabbage. Pretty basic so you can't go wrong, but nothing special about it, but don't let that final note be what you remember. Remember the delicious chicken! Lol We were all stuffed and had some fries left to take home. The waitress wrote thank you and drew a cute face on it! Haha I love it! After eating, I stayed a bit and talked with them about my journey and why I was there and it turned into a Tesla talk! Haha Oooh boy, I love me some good Tesla talk! I'm known for it amongst my friends and family. Lol Meanwhile my brother and his wife were just waiting to go. I didn't want to leave. Haha Anyways, great place, great people, great food! I definitely recommend coming here for some amazing fried chicken and all the other stuff! Hopefully you all enjoy it was much as I did and will in the future!
