My third time at NeNe Chicken and you just can't go wrong with their Korean style fried chicken. I tried their all new Snowing Maxx flavour. This one has a mild dusting of cheese and is sweet, salty and spicy all rolled in one. They give you the option of boneless or bone in. They also have an all new late night eats menu at the downtown location only. The Rosé tokbokki with fish cakes was my favourite from their new menu. The Rosé sauce was fantastic - creamy, spicy and full of flavour with the rice dumplings cooked so well. Id definitely return for this Also tried their Pork Belly Lettuce Wraps and Teriyaki Chicken Cartilage as a part of their late night eats menu - both were decent. We paired this with a pint Sapporo to wash it all down. There's always a long wait in the evenings but service is quick otherwise.

I had the urge to try some Korean fried chicken so grabbed some Nene chicken and was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was fantastic! It had a light crunch and was moist on the inside. The service was fantastic and they even threw in some cartilage due to my large order. The ambiance was fast casual and I would definitely return if I'm in town. In your mouth!!

Stopped by for lunch and got the lunch special of cheese chicken with rice. It was served on a sizzling plate, and the portion size was good for the price. Chicken itself was a tad dry but tasty, and the generous cheese and sauce covered up any shortcomings. Would have liked a bit more veggies, buy hey for that price, I get why. Overall service was fine and kitchen was quick. While I prefer other Korean chicken spots, this was fine and worth a try.

I love that this spot has seats! And the booths are also kind of caged-in in a way, so it gives a sense of privacy from the next booths. We came with a group of 7 and had a reservation- we were late but the restaurant only had two other people in it at the time so it was no issue (Saturday 4pm). It did get busier after we came in, but there was often someone coming in for takeout or pickup too. It was so humid outside and unfortunately their AC was broken- same with their ice machine so it was hella inconvenient on a hot humid day. We got 2 full size (two flavours each, total of 4 flavours). Snowing cheese, snowing chili, original and soy garlic. For apps, we got calamari and tteokbokki which was a good amount of spice but not fun on a hot day. Im not usually a fan of snowing cheese but this one mightve changed my mind. It couldve been that I had it fresh vs usually getting it for takeout at other KFC restaurants. Although there isn't a lot of flavours vs other KFC franchises, they have enough variety for it to be a great place for groups. The tteokbokki we saw online had cheese.... We only realized after that ours had none lol. The workers were all young though very accommodating to us, especially us being a large and rowdy group. Would come again!

Can't go wrong with some Soy Garlic Chicken & a side of onion rings! The chicken portions are huge for a medium size Service was pretty slow as there were only 1 server, the other was busy cleaning. We went in the evening around 5 & it wasn't super crowded. I can imagine how busy it is later in the night as there were not many tables.

This is a Korean Fried Chicken restaurant. It is their second location in Toronto. The first location is more of a takeout location (there are a few seats indoor), but this location has adequate indoor seating and is more of a Korean bar-restaurant. "NeNe" means "Yes Yes" in Korean. You can choose chicken with bone or boneless (which is also halal). They have wings, drumsticks, and nuggets. The chicken was crispy and fresh. The chicken was juicier in the dishes with a sauce but was dryer in the dishes using a powder topping. I don't know whether it is due to being in a soft opening. I ordered the Hot Bling Chicken (8 pieces, $20.95), boneless. The coating was definitely spicy! The chicken inside was juicy and more tolerable in terms of spiciness. The customer service was good. The soft opening was on 2023-09-09, and the grand opening will be on 2023-09-22. There is a limited menu during the soft opening. Starting at the grand opening, there will be chicken burgers, a lunch chicken box, sides, and alcoholic drinks. This is a franchised business. There are over 1200 locations worldwide, with 1000 locations in Korea. There are 2 in Toronto and 2 in Vancouver. They are also in Australia and Japan. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is non wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2023-307

Great fried chicken spot for all your chicken and beer needs! The vibe of this place is great, it had a very lively atmosphere despite it just being the soft opening. It didn't look like there were too many seats, so it was not too loud despite the lively atmosphere. The owner also came out to chat with some guests! The food is fantastic! Their Korean fried chicken is delicious and freshly fried! It's got a perfect light crispy crunch but doesn't feel oily. The tteokbokki has lots of cheese--which makes a great dipping sauce for fried chicken! Would recommending adding this to your fried chicken order for that reason alone haha! It's not too spicy so most people can enjoy it too. The owner gave us a non-menu item to try: mala chicken cartilage. It was delicious! We recommended they should definitely put it on the menu or offer it to guests, not sure if they've added as I went many months ago now. Looking forward to coming back again!

All the dishes were tasty and fresh; the chicken was perfectly crispy and had a fair amount of snow cheese, and the rest of the dishes were very flavourful too. Staff are friendly and attentive. The ambiance is casual, good for grabbing a bite to eat with friends.

Sweet and spicy chicken strikes the perfect balance between comforting sweetness and a bold, fiery kick. Tender, juicy pieces are tossed in a glossy sauce crafted from honey and brown sugar, then elevated with fresh chili flakes, garlic, and a splash of soy. Each bite offers a harmonious contrast: the initial warmth of sweetness gives way to a lingering, mouth-tingling heat that awakens your palate. Garnished with scallions and sesame seeds for crunch, its unique flavor profile is addictive--I highly recommend trying it!

I was hoping to order their Lunch Special but the staff said they're not offering this yet so ended up getting their Original Boneless Chicken Medium size and it was just pretty average, nothing special. I find their chicken somewhat dry and not as crunchy as bbq Chicken's Golden Fried. Nene's KFC is also smaller and lacked a bit of flavour compared to other Korean Fried Chicken we've tried. Staff were nice and friendly though and even offered as lemon water while waiting for our takeout order which took twenty mins. Overall, pricey and overrated and would rather go to other KFC places that taste way much better.

Love this chain! Conveniently located downstairs on Chestnut Street off of Dundas West. They fry your Chicken to order and each person gets a refreshing side of pickled radish. They have a variety of flavours, we got the snowing chilli, which was quite spicy! We got bone in because it's juicier! But bone in and boneless both get the same number of pieces. The fried chicken texture is similar to popeyes, very crunchy. The prices are great for the amount you get! A medium order is perfect for 2-3 people. The only thing is I wish they gave us wet napkins or gloves to wear like at other locations because it was messy! Amex accepted even though the machine says otherwise The server got our order wrong twice... Definitely coming again but the servers need to be more organized!

Family meal
Alex C.

I got takeout from Nene Chicken via DoorDash (surprisingly, it was slightly cheaper on DoorDash). I ordered the Family Meal bone-in (16 pieces) and got half original and half "swicy" flavor. The original has a dry coating, and the swicy is a sweet and spicy flavor (not very spicy though). This is also a pretty large portion! Overall, the chicken is well-seasoned, juicy, and cooked well. The swicy is a bit on the sweeter side, but my preference is for the original. I would say that the chicken has a lot of skin (some people may like this), but I found it to be a bit much. Also, you can kind of "taste" the oil here--I'm not really sure how to describe this. Overall, it's a decent fried chicken place, although I do prefer other chains more (like BBQ Chicken).

Just a heads up though, if you order "mild" it is still definitely spicy, but in a good way. That said, the service was a big downside. When I went with friends, the place was not even busy, but it still took about 20 minutes for our food to come out (yes I counted because we were in a rush). We only ordered two tenders with no drink. For something that feels like fast food, that is pretty unreasonable. I also went specifically to try the mozzarella sticks, but we were told they had not even started making them and it would take another 40 minutes, which is kind of wild. Even when our food was ready, things moved really slowly. The cashier took SEVERAL minutes just labeling and staring at each box, even though we all ordered the same thing, and then another minute just to put everything into a paper bag. Maybe it was his first day? Another frustrating part was that the washrooms were locked, so we could not even use them while we were there, which was a mild inconvenience, but I think bathroom access in a spicy chicken shop is a bit crucial. On top of that, it is pretty expensive for what you get. Overall, the food is the only thing really saving this place. It tastes incredible, but because of the slow service, locked washrooms, and high prices, I probably would not go back.

Overall, my experience was alright. Nothing screamed out "Oh I have to go again!" or "let me tell…read moresomeone about this!". The piece of chicken on my sandwich was a rather peculiar piece in terms of its shape. It did not provide an enjoyable eating experience. When I took my first bite, after figuring out which would be an easy bite, a piece of chicken fell out which made me realize it was two separate pieces of chicken inbetween two buns. It got rather messy after having to pick up the fallen pieces. Other than that, it was flavorful but wasn't the best I've had. I prefer Dave's Hot Chicken over this. My fries were pretty salty. If given the option, I would have requested lightly salted or no salt at all. Space was small but understandable as it seemed to be a carry-out spot. Customer service wasn't quite all that. The girl took our order and that was it. Not much of a greeting nor farewell/thanks for coming. We didn't receive a follow-up during our meal to see if we may needed anything. I would have benefited from extra napkins. My friend enjoyed his meal. He stated it was a good meal but he wouldn't go out of his way to get this. He would have preferred to uber-eats it if he lived here. What made me want to go was the name. My last name is the same as the restaurant name so I figured give it a go! Also saw positive reviews on TikTok.

Toasted bun, very nicely constructed, very tender perfectly cooked chicken. We had it spice level HOT the last time we were here and it was just spicy enough to get the lips warm but not enough to overwhelm. The Szechuan taste is a brilliant partner for this southern classic. You can eat in at the counter, or in the summer the patio is a nice place to enjoy your sandwich in peace and soak in the busy Queen West energy just up the street. Love this place, the staff give off a good vibe.

Same concept and menu as the Queen Street location. Friendly and welcoming as soon I enter the restaurant. Great for small groups and solo diners as well. No liquor license at this location unfortunately. Hopefully next time I'll be able to enjoy my ramen with a pint of beer. You can view the menu via QR code and order using the order sheet provided. Very easy and efficient way to place your order. I got my usual, Signature Tonkotsu ($16) with a flavoured egg (+$3). It did not disappoint. Very good and flavourful broth without being too salty. A+ for the noodles and added to garlic which enhanced overall taste. Highly recommend checking out this ramen spot! Great addition to Yonge and Dundas.

Haven't been to this location (or Ikkousha for awhile actually). I frequented their original Queen…read moreSt locations in the past. This location is newer but retains the same seating format inside as its predecessors. First thing I noticed sitting down was how inflation absolutely drove these prices through the roof since the last time I had a bowl. Got myself a tonkotsu broth (totally missed the gyokai option ... only realized once I started eating and casually glanced back over at my sheet). Added premium toppings and held off on the gyozas this time around. Some things to note. They removed some condiments from the table. The pickled ginger, bamboo, mustard greens and garlic all used to be available ON the table for me to grab as a customer. Now the waitress just asks you if you want them when she's grabbing your order sheet. I think they should revert to having those items back on the table. I'm still able to grind my own sesame seeds into my ramen at the table which is great. Taste-wise, the bowl was delicious and reconfirmed to me why Ikkousha belongs in my top 5 list for toronto ramen. Value though? That's another story... My bowl of ramen with premium toppings and a serving of extra noodles was ~ $30 after tax and tip which is wild tbh. I don't think any other ramen place is charging that or more except Hokkaido Ramen Santouka (which I would argue has debatable value as a diner because of their super small portions). Yes, as a resto owner you account for inflation but I can't help feeling that the current pricing has gone past the inflation curve. 5 star ramen, 2 star pricing/value. The quality was excellent hence the 5 stars, but mentally I HAVE to drop a star because the price is just too high to ignore.
