Tokyo Grill has half-priced sushi on Sundays that never disappoints. My friend and I have dined in for at least four Sundays now, and it's become a sort of weekly tradition! To be honest, I'm unsure if the fish is fresh, but three rolls and a side for $10 is UNBEATABLE and definitely satisfies the craving! I always get miso soup, the eel cucumber roll, a Philadelphia roll, and a spicy salmon roll. We visited on a Saturday afternoon around 3:30 pm. We were seated immediately. I noticed that the floors were dirty and overall the place needs a good cleaning. We ordered lunch specials which included a hibachi bowl with choice of shrimp, chicken or beef, miso soup, and 3 pieces of a California roll or a spring roll for $7. We also ordered buffalo wings, crab Rangoon, wonton soup and a philly roll and Tokyo roll. Everything was just ok. My son had hair in his plate so they made him another plate. For starters we had the gyoza which were some of the best ones I have had in a long time. The outside was super crispy and the inside was tender and full of flavor. It did come with the sauce but considering how good the gyoza was by themselves you don't have to have the sauce. I ordered the hibachi steak with rice and only broccoli. I was not asked how I would like my steak cooked or if I wanted rice or noodles. On the menu it says rice or noodles for the side so I informed the waitress I wanted rice since she didn't ask. The steak ended up being medium to medium rare depending on the piece I ate. That is fine with me since I don't mind a little pink in the middle. The rice was cooked perfectly and was great with the white sauce. My youngest daughter had the chicken kabobs with some kind of sauce on it and she liked it with the sticky sauce since the chicken was dry. Also, the people at the table that was beside us came after we did. Their waitress checked on them several times. Our waitress however only came over once to check on us and then once more to bring the check. If we are in town again I don't mind going back just for the gyoza alone but I might try other food options. They do have sushi but it is pretty expensive for such a small place in a shopping plaza. If I am correct it is about 10 pieces for $24 and 20 for around $40 give or take. read more

It's not really half off Sundays when your sushi is half the size it normally is and then on top of that you put so much avocado vs. salmon in a salmon avocado roll that I could barely taste the fish. I normally don't post on yelp but this was just ridiculous paying to taste avocado with rice. Highly disappointed with their business ethic. Update: The sushi was so small that even though I ordered an extra roll that I usually do I am less full than I usually am. I will never be ordering from them again on Sundays. Honestly I don't really give bad reviews, but this place is horrible. We waited an hour and 15 minutes to be seated, and the front staff was extremely rude and unprofessional acting. The food was edible, and probably only tasted good because it was 9 pm at night and we were starving. They also never brought out part of our order. The bathrooms look like they hadn't been cleaned in days- the floor was soaking wet and caked in paper towels and toilet paper with an overflowing trashcan. The rest of the restaurant is in dissary and a complete mess. I have no reason to ever come back here, not worth your time or money. Food was alright but dang that service sucks. The girl behind the counter overcharged me and gave me the wrong order. When I asked for my right order she rolled her eyes, tossed my food in the trash, and called to the kitchen. All while not wearing as mask or even having one on her person. When my right food came, she opened the box with unsanitary long nails before handing it to me without a word. I showed on my receipt that I was overcharged 2 or 3 dollars so can she ring up the right price please. She told me she would do it but she wasn't supposed to because it was already rung in. Albeit incorrectly. Food was okay but sloppy. But if the girl behind the counter could wear a mask, not have long fake nails in food service, and not be rude to new customers I would return. Yes, I took a 45-50 min road trip for sushi.....don't judge me. So my friend suggested to hit this place up on a Sunday because apparently they have 1/2 priced sushi on Sundays which is definitely a deal to me. I got here around 7:00 and had to wait 15-20 min to be seated. It was definitely a nice crowd there and the waiting area is slightly confusing especially with the to-go orders being right beside the hostess. We were seated by the restrooms which was fine with me. My waitress was pretty nice and was able to explain stuff on the menu for me. Despite the crowd, my food came at a pretty reasonable time. There was literally no wait time and my friend and I were seated at the sushi bar. The appetizer and miso soup-that came with my any 2 roll for 8.50- came super quick in less than 5 minutes. Literally! I ordered edamame as the appetizer and it was a little undercooked, but I'm not complaining for the price of it. For my two rolls I got the spicy salmon roll and the Alaskan roll and they were really good for it being in Danville or actually the east in general. Compared to sushi in Seattle, it's not as fresh or as tasteful, but I can't complain since it still was up to my standards. I enjoyed the atmosphere and watching the itamae make sushi in front of me. This is by far my best place to go to for Japanese even though they don't have teppanyaki. I also enjoyed the hospitality from the waitress and will be sure to come again more often if I'm craving a quick go to Japanese place. read more

If you want fresh food go to the Japanese place in the mall. The rice here is always very dry, they have given me sushi with rotten avocado and their health review speaks for itself. They also do not tell you that some of their sushi it made with imitation meat. read more

I've been here twice now and it's solid sushi every time. This past time, my husband and I got a few sushi rolls (Spider, Rainbow and Tempura Shrimp) plus gyoza (Japanese dumpling) for an appetizer. Food is always fresh and delicious, exactly what I expect. Service is also great. They get you in and out very fast, which means your food comes quickly and the server is very attentive. Dirty plates didn't stay on our table for long and my husband was asked if he wanted more coffee when he hadn't finished his first cup. It's not going to blow your mind, and the place itself is a bit run down, but if you're looking for quality sushi that fills you up and tastes good, this is the place. read more

I normally really enjoy eating here. Today, however, we came at a down time. I ordered a regular sushi roll plus 2 items off the lunch menu. For myself. My husband ordered a shrimp bowl. Best that Danville has to offer in regards to Sushi. I wasn't super impressed with the California & other rolls, but the sashimi was not bad at all and I also thoroughly enjoyed the seaweed salad, however make sure you pass on the miso soup. It tastes like the stuff you get out of a freeze dried package. The prices are great for what you get. I would try to order your meal to go during peak hours (lunchtime/dinner time) because seating is very limited and you will more than likely end up waiting for over 20 minutes for a table. If you have kids under the age of 13 ( I have 2 below the age of four), I would not bring them here. Its not a kid friendly restaurant, but more for the college crowd. The service is really good and I enjoy getting sushi from here. The staff are amazing and friendly and I've never had a problem with them. When I call to order in my food, they usually tell me it's about a fifteen minute wait and most of the time, it takes less than fifteen minutes to make. Con wise, I wish they offered bigger to-go cup sizes, but at the same time it's not something I'd deduct a star for. I expressed to the the manager I didn't care for it and asked if I could substitute it for something else. She told me NO... that she was still losing money on the sushi roll... and if everyone who didn't like something got a new roll they would lose money. Uhm.. my order was$4.99 you are literally losing $2.50. Terrible decision. I will NEVER go back! You've lost more than $2.50. Oh and on the way out... the manager asked if I asked for her name and she said to the other lady I don't care it's like like I'm going to lose my job. I work in customer service every single day.
