What the pho?!! Everything that our lunch party of twelve tried at this little family-run Thai joint was PHOnominal! Half of our group ordered their savory pho (pronounced phuh). Both chicken and beef versions were downright delicious. I went with my favorite Thai rice noodle dish, Pad See Ew, which was perfectly prepared and presented. The piping hot spring rolls were low on grease and high in flavor. Our delightful server, Tri, was friendly, patient and attentive. Sanitation score was an A and everything was clean. Decor is sparce but atmosphere is pleasant. Overall, I'd say this place is definitely a Gotta Try. We hope to return on our next trip from Charlotte to our hometown of Danville.

Some of my husband's coworkers had been here many times and loved the food. We decided to give it a try. It's a small place, so there might be a little wait. It looks like a family run business. I had the pineapple fried rice with chicken and my husband had the Thai fried rice with steak (not pictured). The waitress got his order wrong (misunderstanding) and gave him steak pho. but she replaced it with the fried rice. I highly recommend this place. Everything was delicious.

Looks can be deceiving; we almost didn't go inside due to the outside appearance. Once we got inside it was cute with nice table settings that were worthy of a date night. The waitress was super nice and attentive. We got Chicken Satay; Tom Kha with tofu for the protein (not pictured but also beautiful); Panang Curry with chicken for the protein; "Crispy" Garlic Duck (to be fair, it was not even close to crispy when it arrived at the table due to the sauce it was in but it had great flavor) My husband and I are daydreaming about going back and trying everything on the menu. We will be back.

Don't let the exterior fool you! This place had some of the best Thai food I've had in a while. The drinks were excellent!! The dining area is small & cozy. The service was phenomenal-very attentive & friendly! Will definitely be back!

Even though the waiter got our order wrong and we never received our Thai tea, this is the best option for Thai food in the Danville area. Our bill was adjusted, the food was good, and we enjoyed both of our dishes.

Tonight's special - Golden pampano (whole fried fish with pineapple chili sauce, vegetables, and jasmine rice)

We have been to Moon River many times during the 5 years we've lived in Danville. They have the absolute BEST Thai food we have ever tried. Tonight we went to celebrate our anniversary, and everything was excellent. Dinner starts with a salad served with the world's BEST peanut dressing - it is to die for. We ordered the vegetable crispy roll appetizer (always delicious!). I had the special which was a whole fried fish with chili sauce and vegetables. My husband had crispy stir fried pork (listed as fried chicken, duck, or pork). The entrees come with a generous portion of jasmine rice (great to help cool down the spice if you order a spicy dish). Previously we have had the Thai iced tea, which is ultra refreshing and sweet, Thai fried rice with shrimp, pineapple fried rice with shrimp or tofu, cashew stir fry, basil stir fry, and pad see-ew with tofu and vegetables. Every meal we have tried has been delicious. If you don't like spicy food, don't worry. There are plenty of mild options on the menu. They have a spice level listed on the menu at the bottom right hand corner. I am so happy to live just a couple minutes away. We will definitely keep returning!!

Housed at the end of a highway strip mall outside of Danville, Rustic Barn is neither rustic nor a…read morebarn. It is, improbably, a fantastic Asian fusion restaurant. Yes, you read that right. The idiosyncrasies do not stop with the name. Inside, The Rustic Barn offers an intimate space with low lighting and some interesting décor: random photos of locomotives adorn the wall. The menu skews Thai albeit with some Japanese dishes (gyoza, teriyaki, yaki udon) and a few (a burger, a steak and potatoes) that fit the establishment's rurally suggestive name. The proprietor, Jeb, is gracious and accommodating as well as a showman who likes to joke with his guests. His promise of "everything fresh, everything homemade" is a lot to live up to, but the kitchen here has the chops to deliver on that promise. Our group went with a pair of starters (crab rangoons and gyoza), a pair of curries (roadhouse and green), and a pair of noodle dishes (yaki udon and pad Thai). Everything was attractively plated and delicious. The rangoons were hand-formed into delicate shapes and contained plenty of filling while the gyoza were nice and crisp. My entrée was the roadhouse curry: the house version of Massaman. A hearty dish, it boasted thick-cut vegetables and a rich sauce done to the desired (a little bit spicy) level of heat. Prices are moderate (entrees start in the upper teens), but portions are plenty filling. Given how many Danville restaurants were closed on a Sunday evening, I count myself lucky that The Rustic Barn was not among them. If you come here seeking country cooking, you'll be confused and perhaps disappointed. But if you know what you're getting yourself into, the combination of personable service and tasty food in an offbeat location makes this the epitome of a hidden gem.

I liked the ambience of the restaurant and our server was pleasant. The orange dragon roll with mango was sublime and I will definitely return just for that. On the downside, I found the other things I ordered somewhat inedible. The edamame wasn't steamed enough so it was incredibly difficult to pop them out of their pods to eat. I got tired of trying. My friend ordered the vegetable tempura app and she offered me a sweet potato since that is my favorite. It hadn't cooked all the way through in the center so again difficult to eat. The other roll I ordered had eel in it. Now I have eaten quite a lot eel before but I never had tasted eel so chewy. The mouth feel was so gross that I ended up spitting it out. I think this place has a lot of good qualities so I am willing to give them another shot but I would like to remind their chefs to slow down to ensure that the food is cooked more properly so it would be more enjoyable to its patrons.

Most places put a pepper symbol and it's not spicy at all, but this single red pepper symbol means business!!!!!! I'm sensitive to spice at the moment so eating my food was a bit of a marathon....but in a good way! Think runny nose & sweating hot with tons of delicious flavor. To start, we served wonton strips with a white yum yum type sauce which was a nice surprise. For our app we had the crab puffs (crab ragoons) which of course were not spicy, perfectly crispy and had the right amount of filling. I also ordered a dragon roll which came out after my main entree since the sushi bar was backed up. This actually worked out perfect because the cream cheese in the roll was a great way to calm the spice in my main entree. The mango and crab on the roll were very fresh, and the size was also pretty hefty for being an 8 piece roll. I could have easily made this into a lighter full meal. For my main entree I got the spicy basil with chicken (red pepper sign alert!!!), brown rice and miso soup. The miso soup was good as expected, the brown rice was cooked to perfection and served in a side bowl, and the main entree was plentiful with perfectly cooked veggies & chicken! This dish brought the heat but in a very good way!!! I couldn't get enough of that spicy basil flavor!!!! I only ate half the dish so looking forward to a delicious lunch today! While I would have been satisfied if it merely fulfilled a craving, Thai Square more than exceeded expectations. From an aesthetic standpoint, this is one of the nicer Thai restaurants in the area. It's bright and clean with a wall full of ornamental plates. Though it was busy at the time of my lunchtime visit, it seemed well-run. Staff were polite and attentive, and the kitchen had no trouble keeping up with demand. The som tam with shrimp was among the best versions of this dish that I've had. From the attractive plating to the freshness to the flavors (good amount of lime, not too heavy on the fish sauce), it was satisfying across the board. It wasn't at all spicy, which would ordinarily be a red flag (white people Thai food, five-yard penalty), but in fairness, it wasn't requested as such. Provided that Thai Square can bring the heat if you ask for it, the execution here is top-notch. I don't know if the rest of Thai Square's menu compares favorably to the dish that I had, but I hope to eventually find out. For Thai fans in Greensboro, this place is definitely worth a visit.

On my most recent visit, my partner and I stopped by for a daytime date and started by splitting the fresh shrimp rolls. They were light, fresh, and tasty, a perfect appetizer on a hot summer day.  I ordered the papaya salad, which was refreshing with a nice kick. It was loaded with shrimp, tomatoes, and plenty of peanuts, which added the perfect crunch. I appreciate that they don't shy away from using peanuts in their dishes where they belong, it really enhances the flavor. My partner tried a chicken dish that was plentiful and had enough for leftovers.  Service can be hit or miss getting attention to the wait staff, but the food is consistently delicious. If you can make it for lunch, I highly recommend the lunch specials. Other visits I get the Thai tea and recommend if you haven't tried it before. Between the consistently good food, friendly service, and clean atmosphere, Thai Square is a place I'll keep coming back to.
