She gave me a long death stare when I asked for my fish without aioli and lemon instead. Initially I thought she didn't hear me so I repeated the request for just lemon. She finally spoke and it was to tell me that "aioli is sauce." Yes, I am aware. It's a mayo based sauce and I don't like mayo. My husband ordered unsweetened tea which she forgot. After 20 min we requested it again which she promptly brought sweet tea. He took one swig and almost vomited. He then politely asked for UN-sweet tea and she kept pointing to the glass insisting "That is sweet tea." Instead of arguing just do your job and don't assume that we don't know what we are talking about. He finally got the UN-sweet tea. We saw another table had an issue with her. Half the food on people's tables came out in cafeteria tins, the rest on plates. It was very OK food with poor service. read more

Been here once before and had three out-of-town guests visiting. On the second visit yesterday, the tuna was way too salty (two of us ordered it, based on my recommendation from my previous visit). Also, the cornbread was stale when we ordered the pinto beans with the cornbread. In addition, the pinto beans had no green onions in it as listed on the menu. And there was no homemade pepper jelly for the stale cornbread, which also was listed on the menu. We asked for the pepper jelly, and we were told that it is located on the bottom of the pinto bean jar, which it obviously was not. It's this pepper jelly that makes this whole side dish. Quaint place, with fantastic and friendly service. We had the broccoli cheese soup to start, the waitress had described it as "killer." She was right! It was delicious. Then we split the fried catfish, which had a nice crispy breading, and was cooked perfectly. For our sides we had the garden salad which was fresh and plentiful. The only disappointment of the night were the steamed green beans which were barely, and I do mean barely, cooked. They even had a raw taste. Cute place with open atmosphere in a renovated old House. We came here the night of the new Casino opening and it wasn't too busy. My Husband and I were sat in the bar area at a high top table and the bartender served us. The drinks were tasty and the food was good. We ordered the fried pickles and I had the vegetarian mac bowl with Buffalo cauliflower, my Husband ordered the smoked chicken taco special. The food was very rich and on the heavier side. The portions were huge, I could barely finish half of my dish. We would definitely come again and order a few different things. read more

We were anxiously awaiting the reopening of King Cropp at their new location. It was definitely worth the wait! The food is just as excellent as it was at their first location, and the space is larger with more variety for tables/seating arrangements. They have a great patio area that will be so wonderful during the warmer months. If you are a vegetarian (or like me just prefer to eat a lot of vegetables), this is definitely the place to go! The pizza specials included a fully vegetarian, gluten free option, and the macaroni and cheese is vegetarian (as a side or as part of a Mac bowl or other meal). There is a fully vegan entree (tempura sesame cauliflower), as well as a few sides to choose from. On to the details about what we ordered - I had the sparkling Italian white wine and my husband tried the Danvegas cocktail (both excellent). We ordered the fried pickles appetizer which comes with ranch and spiralized carrots/baby greens. I had The Chief (vegetarian Buffalo cauliflower Mac and cheese), and my husband had a half order of jumbo shrimp. We finished with blueberries and cream crème brûlée - it reminded me of the crème brûlée I had in Morocco 10 years ago. It was so good - highly recommended!! The hostess was super nice. After seated we were greeted by a super friendly waitress. They have paper menus, which they change menu options here and there, wine and cocktail list. Decided on the salmon with green beans. WOW! The salmon was cooked perfectly and seasoned wonderfully. The green beans were so so, not the greatest. The service was top notch. Randomly passing through Danville and saw a solid 4.8 stars on yelp decided to give it a try. Service was great restrooms were clean. Super quaint home converted to a lovely spot, simple furnishings, great sound balance and the staff was super attentive. Not a negative but my potion of fried cauliflower, although it tasted amazing, was enough for three people. I took it with to our hotel as a courtesy so as not to insult the chef but it ultimately went to waste as we were on the road the next am. If I lived nearby it was next days lunch and dinner for sure. Portions were so large we had no room for dessert. read more

We were in Danville for the evening and found this spot on Yelp. Really good reviews that didn't lie. It was busy on Saturday evening. Lots of very nice teens dressed up for prom dates. We were seated outside after a very short wait. Our server Tanner was a very chill and laid back young man. He did a great job. We started with the deviled eggs, which were okay. The Star app was the chicken nachos. Great presentation. Tasted great. We would have locked the bowl but we were tying to be good. Nicely cooked chicken beans cheese and a really nice bbq sauce. My spouse had the fried shrimp by with fried cabbage and Mac and cheese sides. She loved it all. I had the gringo chicken special. It was good but not on par with the nachos. read more

A very good place to grub in Danville. Second time here and we noticed that the menu doesn't have red meat anymore. Last year, I had a great meatloaf and thought about ordering it again until I saw the menu. Well, no worries, as they do chicken, seafood, and other dishes very well. This time we couldn't decide on which appetizer to order, so we got several to share: fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, and truffle tots. The tots and pickles were excellent, very flavorful and enough to share with everyone. The pickles are homemade and nicely brined. The tomatoes were OK, but kinda bland as the batter wasn't seasoned much. We had such a good time sharing apps, that we ended up ordering several entrees to share as well: grilled salmon, BBQ chicken plate, and the West End mac bowl. The fish was nicely done and cooked perfectly. The BBQ was also good and came piled high for everyone to enjoy their own mound of chicken. The cornbread was kinda dry, so not a fan. The mac bowl was just OK, I like my mac & cheese with a rich, creamy cheese sauce, but this wasn't too cheesy. Topped with more BBQ chicken it was kind of redundant with the BBQ plate. This family-owned restaurant was the perfect landing after an emotionally charged day/ year! We got there when they opened and opted to sit out front on the patio. While it is street side, you don't feel like you're on the street. The tables sit just far enough from the sidewalk, and with the umbrellas on each table, it was the perfect respite. I ordered an old fashioned from the bar. Upon my first sip, I knew we had chosen the right spot and settled in for a lovely meal. The owners/hosts are very gracious and welcoming. The food is delish! Alright I don't do this often but this is a 5 star place!! I have heard good things about this place every time I come to Danville. My daughter graduated today from college so I have been coming often. Everything that we ordered and I mean everything we had was delicious My mom had the Cyprus Mac which was spicy but not too much so where you couldn't enjoy it. All the Mac n cheese was so good flavor from the cheeses, creamy just very well done. Paul got the angus meatloaf and I say that because it's meatloaf right?? Again the heat in the backend was just right the consistency of the loaf outstanding. Future son in law got Buffalo chicken Mac n cheese and my daughter got the grilled gator island salmon which with the aioli was superb. I had the southern fried catfish which was breaded perfectly flavor was amazing and the homemade tartar just ties it all together. Our server Kayli Ann was awesome fun and totally on point This is a place you should actually make a trip to Danville for maneuver changes as they are true farm to table! Yes I will go back....
