Wow, right? Attractive and welcoming is Links Cafe. No question about it, but what about the bagels.

Place looks great. Located in the River District, Links Cafe has ambiance. Service was friendly. But we came for a bagel with coffee. UGH. Everything bagel was clearly not made in house AND it was stale. Okay, the coffee will redeem this place, right? WRONG.

A wonderful place for breakfast or lunch. The food always has been worth the stop. There is a comforting cool vibe in the place. The staff and service only add to reasons to go. I would even suggest stopping for coffee and some baked goods.

A view of the delicious artificial egg and sausage patty. Almost as artificial as the high fructose corn syrups they use here:)

The vibe/ambiance/ cafe is really nice! Beautiful place to sit and talk! My ice latte was disgusting! 1883 syrups are all terrible and terrible for you. Full of artificial flavoring and that's exactly what all 3 drinks we got taste like.. fake plastic. Drinks were 1/10. We all threw our coffees in the trash a few sips in.. The food shown in the picture shows frozen eggs and sausage and could easily tell.. bagels we're good tho! Food was 6/10

The food is amazing! I sat on the couch and enjoyed my coffee and then moved to the table for my burrito. They brought out both drink and food and called me by name, that kind of service makes me feel at home. The music isn't too loud and the group of locals enjoying their coffee in the corner feels like old times.

This pristine, fairly new coffee house and cafe is conspicuously situated on a sunny corner of Craghead Street in Danville's historic River District. Its tasteful decor combines cosmopolitan and industrial chic styles, harkening back to the area's historical tobacco era. As a prior Danvillian (30 years removed), I am delighted to have it as an option for our morning coffee on our frequent family visits. Natural light floods its spacious dining area with partially exposed original brick walls and original ceilings. Comfortable seating, including a leather sofa and chairs, is available throughout. My wife's latte was perfectly prepared, frothy and delicious. She ordered a bagel with cream cheese and I went with a cranberry scone. My coffee was rich and flavorful (as it should be at a coffee house.) The bagel was okay but the scone was a bit dry and tasteless. At most coffee houses, however, breakfast options are often little more than an afterthought (can you say, Starbucks?), so I was not going to rate this place until I had at least tried lunch. Lunchtime was indeed busy here with nearly half the tables being full. I tried the Tuna Melt: Fresh tuna salad on a toasted bagel with Havarti cheese for $7.95. It was very tasty. I also noticed that they use Boar Head meats as their coldcuts. It is hard to argue with that. Most diners seemed very satisfied with their sandwiches. The star of their desserts are the whole Maxie B cakes imported from Greensboro and offered by the slice for $5.95. Our group tried a slice of each and, as expected, they were delicious. Ordering a slice of cake this way is always a gamble because they tend to become stale from the last cut outward, but again, our servings tasted fresh. Finally, the service, although limited, was friendly and attentive on both trips. I would say that this place is a Gotta Try for its coffee, atmosphere and cake... hey, and the sandwiches ain't bad either, so grab one if you're there for lunch!

Nice atmosphere. Order was wrong twice. We finally gave up and left. Tossed coffee in trash when we left. Do better.

There is so much they offer. As far as eating they have Breakfast (smoked salmon bagel!), hot if cold sandwiches (the Jezabel ham!), salads (green ones but I love chicken salad), specialty pizzas (Neapolitan Nod!), and charcuterie boards! Then there is an extensive selection of teas, espresso based drinks, and wines (white, red, or sparking). You can enjoy a glass or a bottle. I've been to my share of coffee shops where the espresso based drinks either tasted burned or were so sugary you feel a diabetic coma upcoming. Not so here. Theirs are perfection with perfect balance of strong and sweet if you like flavors. Then there's a rotating bit of seasonal syrups and house-curated drink options. My favorite is the atmosphere. Couches and comfy large armed chairs, great art, tables outside, what's not to love? The owners take such pride in their shop. They keep it clean, always have a smile and kind word, and make sure their staff has that same spirit. This places puts the best out there for Danville.

Ok, gonna be a mixed review. I am going to say that I hope I'm back in Danville to try them again…read moreso I can up this rating. I think they have great potential but it depends on what they do with what the customers tell them. I want to commend the manager/owner guy who came out and talked with us. I gave an honest opinion to him directly and will here as well. The restaurant was very clean, and decorated nice. Comfortable! The staff were friendly. Our waitress was precious, bless her very pregnant heart. She was very attentive. We both ordered the 2 egg breakfast, that we upgraded the signature dragonfruit pancake and signature croissant French toast to. I got the chicken sausage links and hash brown casserole. Casserole was ok. Could have been fresher. It was 11:30 and tasted like it was made first thing in the morning, but still edible. I would like it more cheesy. My hubby tasted the base most. I'm just picky with my hash brown casseroles lol. Chicken sausage links were FABULOUS!!! Highly recommend!!! Hubs got the turkey sausage patties and they weren't good. I didn't try them because I don't eat turkey. Both of our eggs were cooked perfectly, mine being over medium and his scrambled. The signature items. I told this exactly to the manager/owner guy. The dragonfruit pancake: the pancake was not good. Idk if they messed the batter up but it tasted/texture was like it wasn't cooked, yet didn't look undercooked. It was just weird, like the recipe was messed up. I hope that is all it was. The dragonfruit compote on top was delightful!!!! It had the potential to be fabulous, just the pancake wasn't it. The signature croissant French toast was good but the middle was not cooked. You could see the wet custard. I think the griddle was too hot. Outside was slightly charred, not too bad, but inside not done. Just need to make sure they are cooked. My mocha latte wasn't mocha. It was a good latte, but zero sweetness or chocolate flavor. The hubs caramel macchiato was warm and dreamy! Again, I see so much potential in the place, just some tweaking and it would be amazing!!!

It was Very unprofessional in front of customers. So for my last trip to holy grounds I got my usual bacon egg and cheese on croissant with mayo and tomato. It comes out falling apart, cheese wasn't melted and no mayo, no tomato which I can forgive and asked them to add it. When it came back it looked even worse. I noticed the cheese was basically kraft singles still half melted. I just couldn't eat it. Kraft singles just don't belong in a restaurant especially when they have good quality meats. Even if you run out of cheese send one of the employees to Walmart grocery right down the street. Sorry to say I won't be going back. Not even for a milkshake.
