Solid diner, Danville had a bunch of options so to see this place always busy tells you a lot. Servers are solid a food comes out quickly.

First time here and I went with my dad for lunch during the week. It's All Good is located in a…read moreshopping center in Burlington off Church St. I ordered the pulled pork bbq and it came with two sides and cornbread. I picked their homestyle mac & cheese and a side salad. The side salad did come with an up-charge. We sat down and the cashier ended up bringing our food to our table about 5 minutes later. Food was decent and felt like good size serving of the meat. The pulled pork is cooked in a sweet vinegar sauce. It's completely no frills inside with several amount of tables. They seemed to do quite a number of takeout orders. Tons of parking available as well.

I always want to try and support small business and hope the food is outstanding but today didn't make the mark. Very disappointed in the beef tips and gravy with mac & cheese and squash casserole. I saw a picture from another review and thought it looked very good but mine didn't look anything like the other customers. I was really shocked at how small the portion was especially with the sides and there was hardly any rice up under the beef tips. This is a $15 meal here, I think you could do better than this. I'm a mac & cheese connoisseur and your mac & cheese just doesn't do it for me. Hopefully you could see this constructive criticism and maybe tweak a few things to make it a better experience.

The street situation precluded a few spots downtown, and since we weren't in the mood for our go-to taco place, we decided to head out to the Family Diner. The walk-in was awkward on our part- cash register or hot bar line first? A sweet call from the kitchen of "Y'all's first time?" got us headed in the right direction. Full disclaimer: I've been nostalgic for the southern cafeteria lately. While talking to some food industry friends last week, we realized there is something powerful about the food we all remember from K and W. And while Family Diner doesn't have a giant dining room or a 5-snake velvet rope line to get to the counter, it does take me back. Here's how we made our choices: the hot bar was a choice of three types of chicken- the baked and fried were tempting until the gentleman serving us says: "We can fry you fish to order. Flounder, trout, and catfish." The chicken got skipped for a plate of flounder (plentiful plate, btw), and a side of the Mac and cheese and cooked cabbage. The kid sampled the catfish plate, same sides. Sweet tea. And yes ma'am, I'd like the cornbread. Done. We sat down at a table in the main, cozy dining room. The first thing that I noticed: this place is clean- tidy, even. There was a super polite young man moving around and busing tables, tidying up unassumingly and doing it in a way that is lacking in some finer dining places I've been in recently. The food came out, piping hot. I used one of the malt vinegar packets to douse my flounder (a cafeteria habit) and dug in. The first bite was light and flaky, cooked perfectly. Nothing greasy-tasting, at all, just clean. The sides were great- nothing over seasoned, and like cooking at home, there was room for you to season things to your taste. Well played, Family Diner. The owner (I think? She was the one who guided us down the right path when we walked in) came out to make sure that we were happy, and yes ma'am, it's great, and holy cow, you just dropped this cornbread into the skillet and fried it? Yes, we will be back. It's unassuming, and it's just what the doctor ordered. It's a cafeteria, but it's clean and polite and makes you feel good that you ate there. It's soul food, but not just from an ethnic standpoint- it makes me happy and full and feel welcome and I'll be back.

Alright, so this is a hard one to write because I want it to be super positive but I've definitely…read moregot some critiques. Let's talk positives first. They have tons of options! And offer specials each day. Lots of meat options and veggie options. Including salad, which isn't always available in a homestyle southern restaurant. The roasted potatoes that are available only on Fridays were my favorite part of the platter. So flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The Mac n cheese was also very good. Creamy and cheesy. The hush puppies were HUGE and very crispy. Loved them. I ordered along with two coworkers. Coworker one is now in love with this place and wants to order at least once a week. Coworker two ordered meatloaf and said it was quite tasty. Negatives: Be prepared for the salt!!!!! We ordered from here twice. We got the chicken pie both times and it was wayyyyy to salty. The first order I was able to combine with the potatoes and Mac n cheese to make it edible. But the second order, all the sides were salty too and I ended up not being able to finish most of the plate. It was also disappointing because I'd ordered chicken tenders but received the chicken pie instead. While I'm wary of ordering in the future because the food is salty, my coworker loves it and we'll order again. Hopefully I can explore more of the menu and find the perfect dish and come back for a higher rating.
