I got the bread appetizer and was very underwhelmed. It's just toasted focaccia with butter. The salmon entree was very good though. The service was fast and very friendly. I loved the ambiance. The kitchen is open to the dining room and there's a large bar. The Cotton Old Fashioned was perfect.

Had a great lunch in Cotton at Riverside Mill; what a cool spot in the old mill town of Danville, VA. The building is clearly filled with history as the internal decor attests. The service was fast & friendly on a slow Saturday afternoon. The food was excellent with a focused-menu offering something for all tastes. The crispy brussel sprouts really stood-out. [How *did* the chef get them so perfectly crispy?] Definitely worth a try :)

Chicken Sandwich with truffle fries

A great restaurant in a super cool historic building where they have accented the charm. This was once a space that was connected to patterns and clothing hence the name. They are located in the River District in downtown Danville. There is ample parking in a lot, as well as on street parking. There's also a large free public parking garage as well close by. Upon walking into this beautiful space, you can see how great talent went into the designing and decor. There are so many beautiful things within this welcoming space. We sat at the bar. Grayson was our bartender and she was fantastic. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. She helped with making recommendations for cocktails and food. She was very attentive. Our water glasses were not empty like ever. She was a great representation for this restaurant. We started with the Lemon Drop Martini and the Blackberry Margarita. Both delicious. We also ordered the Oasis which was recommended by Grayson and she was right on point with this one. Not too sweet and perfect balance of flavors. We ordered the meatballs for our app. Don't care what you may think you want, but you NEED these gems. They come with crusty bread and a dollop of ricotta cheese. Just all around fantastic!!! For food, we ordered the Southwest Cobb salad and the chicken sandwich with truffle fries. Cobb salad was great, as was the chicken sandwich. But, let me be perfectly clear with this one - the truffle fries were dreamy! Seriously. You will not forget these once they hit your tastebuds. These are fries that you are going to be talking about well after you leave. They are an upgrade and worth every penny. If your meal doesn't come with the option to get them as a side, order them as an extra!!!!! Your pallet will send you a thank you note. Highly recommend. They do have a happy hour with reduced prices on certain items. There is a dining area, a bar area, and outdoor seating. There is even an outside area with chairs and grass. There seems to be a venue space on the first floor of the building. Would be a great space to rent for a celebration and have them cater. There are steps and an elevator to make it up to the actual restaurant on the second floor. Get here and try this wonderful place where they are bedazzling their guests with their culinary skills, as well as their people skills in making this a welcoming and memorable experience for all who come through their doors.

I decided to get on yelp one Saturday and find a new place to try. I stumbled across a hidden gem. The location was a little confusing but I figured it out. The ambiance was delightful and my meal was good. I ordered shrimp and grits. I have to admit it definitely wasn't what I was accustomed to the shrimp and grits looking like but all the flavors were there. It was Saturday afternoon so why not have a cocktail you say.. And I did lol. The bartender was nice I preferred the espresso martini it is a must try. Even though I was the only chocolate chip on a sugar cookie if you know what I mean all in all the experience was great.

Located in an old mill building, this restaurant has a nostalgic feel with a modern, eclectic decor. It's very well lit and very neat and clean. The staff is very friendly, the service was fast and the food was very good. The desserts were kind of meh, but not enough to be an issue. We would definitely visit again if we are in the area.

We came here on a Saturday afternoon while visiting the area. There is plenty of free parking near the building and is easily accessible via stairs or the elevator. The building itself is very cool with lots of exposed brick and industrial architectural features which we love. We were greeted immediately and taken to a high top table near the bar area. We began looking at the menu while our drink orders were taken. My wife decided on the Freebird (fried chicken with pimento cheese and bacon and opted for it without the bun) and French fries. I chose the supreme pizza without olives. Our server seemed friendly and competent but we are always leery when the server doesn't write down our orders especially when we have tweaks to the menu items. We were amazed and impressed with industrial feel of the interior. We enjoyed catching up and googling more about the history of Danville and the building. The name "The Cotton" for the restaurant is an ode to the Dan River Mills which is a historic manufacturer of apparel fabrics and home fashion products such as bedding. It opened in 1882 as Riverside Cotton Mills and the company grew to become, at one time, the largest textile firm in the South. The building that includes the restaurant at one time was part of Dan River Mills research and development. The restaurant is adorned with advertising references to Dan River. They also have a large outdoor patio that overlooks the Dan River. Our food arrived and looked really good. Fortunately, our server got it correct with our tweaks and not writing anything down. My wife's chicken was fat and juicy and she really enjoyed it even though she thought the temperature could have been hotter. My pizza was good but not phenomenal. Overall, we really liked the atmosphere, history and the food hit the spot.

This historic location has amazing food and great staff. Kudos to Chef Alex for so many amazing dishes! We love the architectural design inside along with the outdoor patio area.

As I cut a piece of the chicken, I noticed it was extremely tender. I also noticed that it appeared to be chunks of a breast hand battered. I dipped the chicken into the hot honey and then the ranch. OMG it was the BEST boneless chicken wing I've ever had! Seasoned perfectly with lemon pepper and cooked to perfection. We ate the whole plate of chicken! Brooke was our server and she said she was going to try them herself later. She was very helpful and offered a wide variety of food and drink options. I like when staff has actually tried the food and drinks to be able to offer and honest opinion. I ordered a river District, social margarita and a rum punch. Both were very good. The inside is so cool. The restaurant is a warehouse that they've turned to a recreational building to include pool tables, bowling alleys, and golf simulators. We will definitely be coming back!

Simple and classic. We both made a few tweaks. She skipped the onions, added ketchup and mustard, and got a side salad. I kept mine simple with no ketchup or mustard. Food came out fast. Appetizer and burgers hit the table in just over five minutes, which was impressive. The burgers were good. Not over the top, but juicy and worth the price. The only miss was the bun. It was cold and could have used a quick toast or at least some heat. The house salad was fresh with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, cheese, and croutons. I tried to swap my fries for sweet potato fries and ended up getting both, so no complaints there. Just know the sweet potato fries count as extra. Fries came out hot and stayed hot. The sweet potato fries had a nice balance, not soggy, not too hard. The corn fritters were the standout. Crispy on the outside, soft and sweet inside. Service from Amber or Shannon was great. Attentive, friendly, and helpful. The only slowdown came at the end. It took longer to get the check than it did to receive the food. The space is in a reclaimed industrial building with exposed brick and high ceilings. Very large and open with plenty of room for groups and events. There is a main dining area, a busy bar, and a separate section with bowling lanes. The crowd was mixed. Families, couples, groups, people at the bar, even a few on laptops. Plenty of TVs and music, but it stays at a manageable level. Accessibility is decent with a lift available. Parking is nearby street or lot parking. Overall, a fun, casual place with strong value, especially on Tuesday nights. Must order: Corn fritters Heads up: Buns may come out cold and sweet potato fries are an extra

***Updated review***…read more So IHOP regional management contacted me about my last review. They told me that management had been changed and so had most of the cooks and offered me a free meal to come back and try it again. I have to admit I was hesitant because of how bad it had been the last time but... free is free so I went back. Not just once, but 4 more times. The place has greatly improved. The food has gotten much better and so has the service. The food is not gourmet by any stretch of the imagination but I don't think people expect that at an IHOP anyway. The coffee is still not great but that's chain wide and some of their booths need replacing but they now have a very decent breakfast. I can't speak for lunch or dinner because I never go during those meals. I will say that the ham and egg sandwich on sourdough is very good. So go and give this place a try and ask for LaToya. She's a great server. They are definitely better than most of Danville's other breakfast options. ***Original review*** Went there with my wife this morning. We were seated quickly in Tia's section (about the best server they have). We ordered our food and waited over an hour before our omelets came out. My pancakes came about 5 minutes later but my wife's took an additional 20 minutes. Her pancakes were covered in seasoning that they add to the pumpkin pancakes but she ordered regular ones. My omelet was completely falling apart. We asked for the manager, Chad. It took him 15 minutes to come to our table. He gave us a whole $5 off our $28 meal and told us they were slow because someone broke glass on one of their pancake griddles. How that makes an omelet take over an hour to cook I don't have a clue. It wasn't just our table. Our whole section was having the same problem. The manager should've instructed the servers to tell customers about the problem BEFORE they ordered or at least walked around to check on tables without having to be chased down but he obviously isn't fit to run a lemonade stand. We will not be back anytime soon.

My meal took at least 30 to 40 minutes to arrive as did my second cup of coffee. The food was good…read moreBUT there was a HAIR on my plate of pancakes!!! They need more staff !!!

Their alcoholic beverage menu also provided a good and varied selection, both in a good price range. The service was very good. When the dish that I ordered arrived, I was amazed to see the generous portions. But more important was that my food was fresh and it was delicious! And this is not my first visit. I should have posted a review long before now. There was music playing at just the right volume, unlike some places that think blasting music helps you digest your food. But what I found really pleasing was the wonderful variety of the styles of music, all of them soothing, and all of them creating, what was for me, a perfect dining atmosphere. | Why this establishment has been stuck with low ratings and reviews is a complete mystery to me, and very undeserved. I recommend that you try them and see. I think you will be satisfied.

We decided to give this Applebee's another shot (even though we haven't had the best luck at this…read morelocation) because my kids love their chicken tenders--and I was really craving a solid burger. Unfortunately, this was another disappointing takeout experience. First thing: I don't recommend ordering through their website. There's no place to add special requests (condiments, extra toppings, etc.), which is a big deal when you're ordering burgers. Ordering through DoorDash was also a no-go because the pricing was way higher (I'm not paying around $20 for a basic burger). If you're set on getting food from here, I'd honestly recommend calling the restaurant directly so you can confirm details and make requests. Here's what we ordered: * Classic bacon cheeseburger (requested pink) with fries * Mushroom Swiss burger (requested pink) with fries * 2 kids chicken tender meals (one with applesauce, one with fries) + apple juice * Triple Chocolate Meltdown * Extra side of fries Total was around $67, which is a lot for takeout--especially when the food misses the mark. Timing was fine on paper: ordered at 3:38, ready time said 3:58. I arrived at 3:55. But even after checking the order before leaving, I didn't realize how bad the temperature issue was until we got home--because somehow the fries were already ice cold right out of the gate. I'm not overly picky with takeout, but cold fries immediately is a rough start. Burgers My wife's Mushroom Swiss looked like it had been cut to check the temperature, which I appreciate in theory--but it was still overcooked. The bottom bun was completely soggy and basically fell apart, so it wasn't even something you could pick up and eat like a burger. She did say the flavor combo was good (mushrooms, Swiss, and sauce), but the patty was dry and the texture just wasn't enjoyable. If you order this, I'd honestly suggest getting the sauce on the side to avoid the bun turning into mush. My Classic Bacon Cheeseburger was also a letdown. I ordered it pink, and it was nowhere close--fully cooked through, dry, and it had that hard seared/crusty exterior that just screams "overdone." I also tried to customize it (no tomato, extra onions, extra pickles). The pickles were an upcharge and you get three pickles... and the "extra" onion (also an upcharge) didn't look extra at all. The one bright spot: the bacon was actually the best part--nice smoky flavor and tasted fresh. Kids Meals The chicken tenders are what they are--standard pre-made tenders--but my kids genuinely enjoy them, so that part is fine. What wasn't fine: their meals were ice cold too, and the portion of fries in the kids meal was honestly tiny. Thank goodness I ordered an extra side of fries to share. Also, we found out they were out of apple juice, so we switched to chocolate milk (the little bottles). Not the end of the world, but it's another small thing that adds up when everything else is already off. Dessert The Triple Chocolate Meltdown was the highlight. My wife really liked it, and I did appreciate that the ice cream came in a separate container (smart for takeout). That said, it was a small scoop for the price, so it felt a little overpriced--but at least it tasted good. Overall For the price, this was a miss. I understand takeout isn't going to be perfect, and burgers can continue cooking a bit in transit--but these were overcooked, dry, and not enjoyable, and the cold fries/kids meals were the final straw. When you're paying $17+ per burger, I expect better consistency from a major chain. If you're going here strictly because your kids love the tenders, I get it--but if you're hoping for a satisfying burger night, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. (Photos included--forgot to snap one of the dessert.) And I forgot to mention, when walking inside to get my food, there was a terrible smell. I'm not sure if it was someone or something , but it was almost unbearable.
