2 piece snack, dark meat (2 legs), potato salad, slaw, biscuit

I visited the Golden Skillet on Piney Forest, in Danville for the first time today, since they were giving a percentage of sales to God's Storehouse. I got the 2 piece snack, with chicken legs, potato salad, slaw, biscuit. I enjoyed my lunch. I did not go inside. I just went through drive through. The waitress was really friendly, and I liked the food better than several of the other restaurants on Piney Forest that I have visited. The slaw seemed different than any I had ever tasted. I am unsure what the difference was. It seemed to have less vinegar, and the spices seemed different. It was tasty though. The biscuit was really good, and I liked the potato salad. Chicken was tasty too, crisp, and not overly salty. I am attaching a photo..

We had the chicken livers as a carry out last night and they were delicious! Their livers are the best in town and are constantly awesome.

Chicken is so good. And recently tried the cheeseburger. Thumbs up. There portions are generous.

Our drinks were never empty, she was very attentive & friendly, couldn't have been better. As for the food, it was also very, very delicious. I had the 10 oz filet along with a salad. My wife had tuna also with a salad. My steak was cooked perfectly, the seasoning was spot on, my bride said her tuna was fantastic as well! It was a little pricey, but we will pay for some amazing meals, and that's what we got. Will definitely be back. Thank you for a great evening

We went in on a Friday night while staying across the street at the Laurel Hotel. We started off with two Grey Goose Garden cocktails as we warmed up to the Blue Crab Cake appetizer. The crab was one of the best we've ever had. For salads we had the Schoolfield Wedge and I had the Caesar with anchovies. Both were crisp, fresh and tasted great. For a main course I had the 16oz Ribeye that was prepared exactly as requested. We also had the Canadian Whiskey Sea Scallops that were not only succulent and prepared perfectly, but delightfully rich in taste. Our wine pairing was Pinot Grigio for the Sea Scallops and I had a smooth Pinot Noir with the Ribeye. After the meal and relaxing, I finished it off with a Baileys over. The entire service experience was fantastic and after the meal I met the Chef who really did an amazing job overall. Each bite was just perfect. The meal and dish pricing was very good compared to Ramsay's at the Casino. In fact, I'd skip Ramsay's completely and just go to Schoolfield instead. The Schoolfield is far better taste and value. Bon apetite!

Our server Katie was amazing!…read more I've been to Ramsay's Kitchen several times before. I enjoy the fish and chips and we normally start with the Porter rolls with sea salt butter which are great! Katie was very attentive and focused on giving us a truly enjoyable experience. She was friendly, and was so sweet to speak with. The atmosphere at Ramsey's is always exciting, bustling and fun to watch the chefs prepare your meal. The fish and chips, steamed asparagus and porter rolls were all excellent. Katie made sure our drinks were always filled and offered a to go cup when we were leaving. I used my celebration dinner from Caesar's for our meal. I wanted to use the extra money on the celebration dinner to leave an additional tip for Katie and was surprised to find out that is doesn't work that way. We have always left a tip but there was over $15 left on our Caesar's comp that apparently you can't use as an additional tip and you lose it. So if using a comp- please make sure you top your server and use up the entire amount of your promo. We definitely took care of her but I know she would have appreciated the additional $$. All in all, an excellent meal. Can't wait to return. They are the best restaurant at Caesar's in Danville. Make sure to make reservations. I do want to add that the hostess was somewhat rude, we showed up 5 minutes early for our reservation and there were plenty of empty seats...she literally pointed to an area away from the hostess desk and said "you're early, you need to wait over there" but rudely. It was like she shoo'ed us away!

Unfortunately, there aren't many dining options inside the casino, so I decided to give it a try. I also tried the pizza, but that's a review for another time! We didn't care for our seating location near the galley kitchen and pass counter, where orders are picked up. There was a lot of foot traffic, which made the dining experience less enjoyable. We had dinner reservations, and one thing to know is that they seat you at your exact reservation time, not before. Our meals for four guests took more than 45 minutes to arrive. When the food finally came, it wasn't hot, and the taste was underwhelming. We ordered salads and Parker House rolls, along with lamb chops, steak, and chicken. We expected the entrees to be tender, flavorful, and practically melt in our mouths. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Everyone at the table had complaints, and we all agreed that the food simply wasn't worth the money. To the restaurant's credit, the manager was made aware of our concerns and was somewhat accommodating. He sent out one dessert for the four of us to share, and surprisingly, it was the best thing I ate all night! P.S. If you're looking for some good local food, try Shirley T's instead!

I ordered my steak "medium" and my steak came back RAW!!! I asked her could they cook a little more to make it "medium". It took a long time to get it back, everyone else at table was already done by the time my steak came back. It was so done, and black that I could not hardly cut it with a steak knife!! I told her to just take it off our bill. Then we asked for our "free dessert" that she promised us and we were charged $10.00 for my dessert. Probably won't go back here!!!! She got an attitude that we no longer wanted her as our waitress. Talked bad about us to her coworkers who kept staring at me while the manager asked me what the issue was. I was honest and he handled things immediately and in a very professional manner. The food is mediocre @ best. Years ago it was really good, but not anymore. We will NEVER return to this location and I am telling my friends and family not to go there anymore either. Nasty all around! Yuck.

I had work travel this week to Pittsylvania County, VA. This is my 1st Danville, VA or even…read morePittsylvania County Yelp review. I'm writing this while back in Danville for my work travel specifically today Thursday, September 10. My girlfriend & I made more of a vacation out of this from Sunday, 9/6 to Sunday, 9/13. We spent one night at an old friend of mine in Raleigh, NC and got to her parent's Smith Mountain Lake house in Franklin County on Monday night. We drove through Danville on Monday evening. I wanted BBQ or southern, but it was Labor Day & some places were closed on Monday anyway. We drove by Ka Cafe, and they were closed. We didn't want to waste much time looking for another restaurant or drive that far as we were hungry. We saw River District had good reviews and just went with that. It's a huge brick building looked like an old industrial building in the past. I parallel parked behind someone else, but there were also plenty of spots in their parking lot. We were confused as we saw 2 entrances, but we followed another customer in. We asked the friendly host about the 2 entrances, and he said I'll show you. The left entrance we went in was by the standard bar area with a mix of high top tables, booths, & the bar itself. The right side had another bar with bar seating, bowling alley, & games. We chose the standard one as we figured the other side seemed like it could get hectic. I also asked him if they had any specialties like southern foods, and he said it's more of standard burgers, sandwiches, & wings. Although I had my heart set on southern food or BBQ, I settled as we were hungry and didn't want to waste more time. Our server was very nice and efficient. I saw that their specialties were starred on their menu. I asked her recommendations too. Per the stars, her recommendation, & my gut I went with the hot honey chicken sandwich fried and upgraded to sweet potato fries for $2 more. My girlfriend was craving a standard burger & got the standard fries. Wow, excellent hot honey chicken & sweet potato fries. The bun was nicely buttered for extra flavoring. I tried a bite of my g/f fries & she tried my sweet potato. We liked on own more. Likewise, a bite of her burger, which I could tell was good quality, but I liked my hot honey chicken more. And she thought mine was good but liked her burger more. She came around to check on us a few times, getting water refills. My girlfriend & I had a discussion of another restaurant we were just at 2 days earlier relatively close to home in Maryland. She said I bet she asks if we want dessert or need anything else before slapping the bill down, which the MD restaurant did. Server came around to ask if we needed anything else, which we said no. Then, she came back with the bill and went above & beyond asking if we wanted to go cups of water. Perhaps, we could tell we were travelers as we didn't have a southern accent and wanted to provide southern hospitality, which we don't really get back home in MD. Restaurant & restroom was also clean. Overall, this was an excellent choice as both host & server was friendly and great food!

Simple and classic. We both made a few tweaks. She skipped the onions, added ketchup and mustard, and got a side salad. I kept mine simple with no ketchup or mustard. Food came out fast. Appetizer and burgers hit the table in just over five minutes, which was impressive. The burgers were good. Not over the top, but juicy and worth the price. The only miss was the bun. It was cold and could have used a quick toast or at least some heat. The house salad was fresh with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, cheese, and croutons. I tried to swap my fries for sweet potato fries and ended up getting both, so no complaints there. Just know the sweet potato fries count as extra. Fries came out hot and stayed hot. The sweet potato fries had a nice balance, not soggy, not too hard. The corn fritters were the standout. Crispy on the outside, soft and sweet inside. Service from Amber or Shannon was great. Attentive, friendly, and helpful. The only slowdown came at the end. It took longer to get the check than it did to receive the food. The space is in a reclaimed industrial building with exposed brick and high ceilings. Very large and open with plenty of room for groups and events. There is a main dining area, a busy bar, and a separate section with bowling lanes. The crowd was mixed. Families, couples, groups, people at the bar, even a few on laptops. Plenty of TVs and music, but it stays at a manageable level. Accessibility is decent with a lift available. Parking is nearby street or lot parking. Overall, a fun, casual place with strong value, especially on Tuesday nights. Must order: Corn fritters Heads up: Buns may come out cold and sweet potato fries are an extra
