Extremely concerning and disappointing experience. During a recent visit, a complementary birthday dessert was served with contaminated lettuce left in the bottom of the bowl. This is a serious food safety issue and reflects poor food handling and sanitation practices. When the problem was brought to the attention of staff and management, the response was dismissive. We were told that "it happens sometimes when servers are doing two jobs" and that we should overlook the situation because the ice cream was free. This lack of accountability and concern was unacceptable. Following the visit, the guest became ill for several days, which raised additional concerns about cross-contamination and overall kitchen safety standards at this location. I visited Golden Leaf Bistro in Danville Va, for lunch on yesterday. Treating myself because I love me some me. I ordered sweet potato fries and the grilled fish sandwich special. Unfortunately, I never got the fish sandwich-I was served a hamburger instead. When I pointed it out, the waitress apologized. Since I was already hungry and ready to eat, I decided to just try the burger anyway. After only two bites, I found a long strand of hair in my food. At that point, I was completely done. I showed the waitress, and she apologized again and said she would speak to the manager. The disappointing part is the manager never came out to apologize or address the situation personally. I was later told that $16 dollars was taken off my bill, but honestly, there should not have been a bill at all after an experience like that. A complimentary meal and even a small gesture like a gift card would have shown real customer care. Come on Golden Leaf Bistro - we have to do better than this. Times may be hard, but good customer service and basic food standards should never be optional. We were in the mood for Outback for lunch. We were greeted seated promptly. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant's also clean which is always nice. I ordered Kangaroo Krush cocktail that came with a toy kangaroo! Lol My granddaughter will appreciate that fact. I must say, the cocktail's delightful! I would have ordered another one, but after eating bread, chili and my Tasmanian shrimp and scallops pasta, I was stuffed! Overall, it was a delicious and pleasant experience. We came here tonight for a friend's birthday. Unfortunately it was not a good experience. Our initial drink order was taken by one person. Then a different person stopped by and said the first person was too busy, so they (the second person) would be helping us. He also explained that both of them work different sections and were covering our table as an extra table. Hmmm.. SERVICE There were 4 of us. We ordered 4 sodas but only got 3. We did get the 4th after explaining it was missing. We had to ask for bread. None was offered or brought until we did. We ordered a Bloomin Onion appetizer for the table. It never arrived. They brought our meals out instead and skipped the appetizer we wanted. We ordered a shrimp add-on with our steaks. Only one came with the shrimp. We arrived around 5ish, restaurant was busy with no wait time. We were lead to a very small seat (half booth/seat table) for 2. It felt crowded. Our waiter came by took our order, appetizer came before we got our drinks or bread. He was not very personable and gave us bare minimum service. Our main course was served from the kitchen help, a very nice guy. After eating for a few moments, drinks got low. The night manager came by checking tables and spoke with us. She was incredibly attentive and nice, refilling our drinks, getting us more fresh bread and steak sauce. The waiter finally came back by. I believe he was waiting the bar and a few tables. He refilled our drinks again and added ice. Later he asked how we were, offered dessert and when we declined, brought our bill. Food tasted okay- good but not great. My son commented to me his lobster was a little tough and my steak was as well. The other food was good. After receiving our bill for $72.60 and giving the waiter a $50 gift card and two twenties, he returned with $17.00 even. Not to be trivial, but if he didn't have the forty cents change, it would've been nice for him to at least mention it instead never bringing up the issue and acting like the bill was even charges. Outback in general is a great restaurant. We've dined many times at the Danville location for 4+ years and it is by far the best. Delicious and the steaks are always cooked to perfection. Great drink selections and love trying the limited time offer menu items. After 30 years of dining at Outback, going from the Joey menu as a kid to the Steak and Mates now, I love that both the distinctive taste and familiar, fun Aussie- themed atmosphere remain consistent across the board. Great for a large groups, date night, or family dinners. The service at this particular location is also consistently above and beyond what we expect, every single time. read more

My friend and I arrived around 1:45pm. We ordered the pimento cheese dip as an appetizer. I sent it back because it was literally shredded cheese with tortilla chips and was disgusting. I only eat shredded cheese on salads and hot dogs. Bloomin onion was good. I decided to try the new blooming chicken because the picture made it look so delicious! This was a total execution fail. They didn't even attempt to make it look like the picture. My mashed potatoes were room temperature and stiff. After sending that dip back, I didn't have the energy to send anything else back. I did express how different my plate and the picture looked. The waitress stated they got fresh chicken the day before. Lol! It's a damn shame that I stick by this steakhouse chain and specifically this location but the last dozen or more times, and yes, literally dozen or more, we've either had completely horrendous service and decent quality food, or decent service and the quality of food is shit. there's no good times nor bad times anymore, it's just something EVERY time. Today I waited an hour for a medium rare steak that came out blue, I asked for it to be fixed and it came back cut in half, charred and too tough to chew. My husband, our daughter and I went to Outback this afternoon. The food was very nice, I had the steak and lobster and my husband had the six ounce steak and fries and our daughter had mashed potatoes and lobster. Our server, Jason, was amazing. He was warm, friendly, and extremely attentive. The ambiance was nice, it wasn't crowded or loud and we had a wonderful time. Stopped in for a light lunch. We were seating quick but the service was horrible. The waitress, Naquita, took our order but never came back to check in with us. We had to stop her twice in her passing the table to get bread and butter. Never came back to see if we needed refills, didn't come back to remove empty dishes, nothing! The wedge salad was pretty good. The Cobb salad was mediocre, mixed vegetables were undercooked. The baked potatoes were overcooked had a bit of a burnt taste and the skin was hard, crunchy. But it's the service that did it for me. I asked for a manager and it took 15 mins for her to come out and when she did her attitude was as if she couldn't care less, her only response was that they normally come by to pick up dishes and that was it; a very nonchalant attitude. Saturday mid-afternoon and with social distancing still in effect we were not surprised to learn we had to wait a bit 15 minutes max; not a bother. We were blessed to get a fantastic waitress, Jacklyn B. who was very attentive to not only our table but all the others she had charge of that day. The food was incredible -- HOT baked potato, HOT Sirloin steak (well done to perfection, thank you), cold salad, plenty of bread (yum!). We love the chain, but this location is terrible. Steaks weren't cooked properly and had a LOT of fat. More fat than not. Asparagus tasted like it was cooked yesterday and left in a butter bath. The quality of the food at this location is not as good as it used to be. Not sure if it is just this location or if it is a franchise wide condition as I have not visited other locations recently. The first ribeye steak sent out was over half grizzle so we returned it. Then served a filet that was mediocre at best. I went to this location two evenings in a row. I wanted to try something out of the usual. The first night I sat in the bar and my service was few and far in between. The next night I sat in a booth in the bar again but had another server and she was attentive to my order and answered my questions. The games were on - it being a Sunday, no wait, food was an amazing temperature and my steak was cooked perfectly. Lots and lots of butter. Butter all over the plate and in a dish for the lobster and with the bread. Butter factory but it tastes amazing. The broccoli and cheese is what brought me back. It's a $1 upcharge but worth it. The music was extremely loud, which made us feel as it was to compensate from the people at the bar but considering there were only a total of four people in the restaurant on a Friday night after 5:30 PM, we were concerned why the service was slow. we ordered two salmon entrées, which also were not good. the asparagus was just limp and salty, the salmon was mushy and salty and the potatoes seemed as if they were in the microwave too long. we took a chance on the new restaurant which was 60 miles from where we live only to walk out after a few bites and $100 later I do not recommend at all. We enjoyed an early dinner this evening. The service was excellent. Everyone was very attentive, friendly, just excellent service all the way around. The food was delicious and prepared just as we ordered it. If we asked for anything we did not have to repeat or request it again. Our server brought it back to our table quickly. I don't really like chain restaurants, so that took off two stars already. The food wasn't that great, and neither was the drinks (take off a star). The waitress I had was kind of rude. I always say if you dislike your job, don't work there. When in customer service, your job is to give the best customer service regardless. The guy brining out my food knocked over my drink, said he was going to bring me another one and never did. Ended up speaking with the manager and finally got a new one. We ordered online like we typically do, and we were told to pick up the order between 8:19 and 8:24 pm- a very precise window. When my boyfriend arrived to pick up our order, he was told it was not ready and that there would be a wait. This is exactly what happened the last time. When he asked how long of a wait it would be she told him that she didn't know? Well, long story short he did not receive our order until 9:05 pm...almost a full hour after we were told to pick it up. Went to an old standby tonight. Not a whole lot of non-chain choices here in Danville and I learned a long time ago that if I went somewhere other than Outback (when Outback was an option) then I was usually disappointed. There is nothing worse than eating a bad meal at a Chili's when there is an Outback across the street. Felt like a burger and went in anticipating a Mad Max burger, but alas, that is no longer on the menu. The waitress had never heard of it, so it has been a loooong time since I have eaten a burger at an Outback. Anyway, the service was friendly (as always) and prompt, the manager came over to check on me, and the food was tasty (again as always). I have literally eaten at Outback hundreds of times over the past seven years with my job and after all of those visits, I have only had two that were negative. So if you are looking for good food and fast friendly service in a chain restaurant, Outback should be your first choice. The Danville location lived up to these high standards. I'd love to give this restaurant a lower score than one, but I am not allowed. I had dinner there a couple of weeks ago and got food poisoning, and it was horrible. I was so sick, and my doctor said he felt sure it came from a steak I had eaten at this restaurant. I have spoken with the owner (once I was feeling better), and he assured me he's compensating me, but he's done nothing so far. The service wasn't the best either, but it's not fine dining, so that is excusable but to get so deathly sick is entirely unacceptable. I will never eat at this restaurant again, and if you're smart, you will give it some real thought before you do. read more
