Had a company luncheon for Christmas and it was great! Service was wonderful, food was amazing and the atmosphere was nice! All the food looked and tasted great!

Great little spot in river district with lots of in street parking and easy to get to. There's a bar with high tops, dining booths, and several rooms with tables. There's even one room with a rather large table that could accommodate large parties. They do have outdoor seating as well. We had the orange cream martini. Very tasty, but would recommend getting this as a dessert drink. They do have a great cocktail menu. We were there for lunch so had a limited menu versus the dinner menu. Ordered the shrimp egg rolls - get these! Also a chicken sandwich w/bacon sweet potato fries and a wedge salad with grilled chicken. Both were good. The wedge salad had tons of chicken and it also has candies walnuts. The prices are reasonable for what you are getting as the food is fresh and the quality is good. The service was terrific!! Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. Our water glasses were never empty. They did have a sign that they won for the areas best cocktails and desserts. So, asked to see the sugar tray and boy... what a selection!!! We didn't order but I would highly suggest saving room or getting a few of these to go.

Stopped by for a drink and discovered they have happy hour from 4:00-6:00...Draft beers $4! I was feeling festive and ordered the Sam Adams seasonal! It was delicious. Another tasty one was Cigar City Brewery- out of Tampa! Greg took excellent care of us!

We had a great experience at this restaurant! From the moment we sat down, the customer service stood out Eddie took care of us while being trained by AJ, and they both were friendly and attentive throughout our meal. We started with the Parmesan truffle fries crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. My only wish? That the cheese would've stuck to the fries a bit better. The mini biscuits were chef's kiss! Light, buttery, and paired perfectly with the strawberry jam..honestly, I could've eaten 20 of them. My partner had an omelette with sweet potato fries, both cooked to perfection. I went with the berry salad, and it was so fresh and flavorful! The spinach was crisp, the strawberries and blueberries were clearly in season, and the homemade vinaigrette brought everything together beautifully. My only note would be that the feta was a bit heavy-handed, but not enough to take away from how good the salad was overall. Definitely a spot worth checking out..great food and even better service!

Went for my boyfriends birthday lunch. Building might need a refresh, location was convenient and there was plenty of parking for downtown. Service was quick and the server was friendly and attentive. I ordered the gentry wedge salad which was good, but the lettuce could have been fresher.

Overall I enjoyed my time at Golden Leaf Bistro. First impression wasn't off to a great start, upon entering I asked for a table for one. The hostess pushed me into sitting in the bar area, I kind of just wanted eat in private and was sat directly in the front of the restaurant at a high top next to another couple in the bar, despite numerous open tables throughout the restaurant. My server/bartender was super friendly and quick with drinks. She notified me that it would take an additional few minutes for my salad -which was appreciated. Not all servers keep you posted and it was nice having an update so I wasn't wondering. The food was decent. I felt like the salad was a little sloppily made, but the flavors were there and I enjoyed it! Ambiance was nice! The restaurant had a homey feel to it and looked very clean. Overall I'd recommend a stop to Golden Leaf if you find yourself in the Danville area.

If you grew up in or near Danville years ago you probably spent some time here! Love the homage to this great memory for some.

Unfortunately my food pic disappeared-weird-but it is truly lost. Unfortunate because it was a mighty dove Reuben and onion rings to rival the best. Fluffy Russian bread and the absolute nicest, lean meat I've ever had on what is one of my favorite sandwiches. I'm always excited when I see onion rings on the menu and these seem to be made in house and were the perfect size and stayed together when I was eating them. Nothing worse imo than the tiny shredded onion rings or the monstrous ones that fall apart. Anyhoo--great, solid lunch at a fair price. The craft cocktail menu was tempting but it was 11am and I was in town for work so I didn't partake. Next time I will plan better! The decor is tastefully done pointing back to the tobacco history of the area and a few pretty rustic Indian inspired features and authentic English pub signs. I was with a friend that grew up in Danville and he told me about the door sign, a club where he used to hang out in his youth. Service was good but a bit much. I can only guess perhaps the waitress is new to the job but she came to our table entirely too much. That's a training issue and I won't call her out here because was truly a sweet girl but let folks have their time alone and a two minute check back and perhaps one more is plenty. And please do not ask about dessert when we are only halfway through our sandwiches. Again, not a gripe but it was annoying and it was hard to have a quality experience with so many interruptions every few minutes. I'll be bringing my husband back next time. I am dreaming of that apple cider old fashioned now and must give it a try!

Bourbon Roast Beef Hogie with fries
    Judy I.

I visited the Gold Leaf Bistro for lunch today. It had been several years since I had gone there to eat. I was disappointed in what I found. We both ordered the Bourbon Roast Beef Hogie with fries. A long time elapsed between getting there, having our order taken and and another long wait for our food. Two other solo diners came in after us, (they had different servers) both sat in booths across from us, ate and left the restaurant before we had our food served. I found our plates to be skimpy. There was very little roast beef, and did not cover the sandwich from end to end... also the serving of fries was small. I did not like the taste of my roast beef, it was much too sweet! The tea was weak and had no taste. I would never order this sandwich again! As for the tea, skip it and order water...

We ordered a simple pepperoni pizza. The pizza was good, no complaints. After the bill was brought to the table there was some confusion as to whether we paid the server or had to go to the take out window to pay. After waiting a while we had a show to go to, so just went to the take out window to pay. I asked an employee along the way and she seemed confused. I'm not sure if she understood my request. There seems to be a bit of confusion here. Half the menu and restaurant is Italian and Mexican. Spanish speaking artists pipped into an Italian decorated dining room. With mostly Spanish speaking employees. It's like they can't make up their mind who they want to be. Honestly I have no issue with that. Just seemed odd. I hope by then they have figured out how to speak up and communicate better with their customers. Don't skip them if your in town. It's worth a visit.

As I cut a piece of the chicken, I noticed it was extremely tender. I also noticed that it appeared to be chunks of a breast hand battered. I dipped the chicken into the hot honey and then the ranch. OMG it was the BEST boneless chicken wing I've ever had! Seasoned perfectly with lemon pepper and cooked to perfection. We ate the whole plate of chicken! She skipped the onions, added ketchup and mustard, and got a side salad. I kept mine simple with no ketchup or mustard. Food came out fast. Appetizer and burgers hit the table in just over five minutes, which was impressive. The burgers were good. Not over the top, but juicy and worth the price. The only miss was the bun. It was cold and could have used a quick toast or at least some heat. The house salad was fresh with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, cheese, and croutons. I tried to swap my fries for sweet potato fries and ended up getting both, so no complaints there. Just know the sweet potato fries count as extra. Fries came out hot and stayed hot. The sweet potato fries had a nice balance, not soggy, not too hard. The corn fritters were the standout. Crispy on the outside, soft and sweet inside. Service from Amber or Shannon was great. Attentive, friendly, and helpful. The only slowdown came at the end. It took longer to get the check than it did to receive the food. The space is in a reclaimed industrial building with exposed brick and high ceilings. Very large and open with plenty of room for groups and events. There is a main dining area, a busy bar, and a separate section with bowling lanes. The crowd was mixed. Families, couples, groups, people at the bar, even a few on laptops. Plenty of TVs and music, but it stays at a manageable level. Accessibility is decent with a lift available. Parking is nearby street or lot parking. Overall, a fun, casual place with strong value, especially on Tuesday nights. Must order: Corn fritters Heads up: Buns may come out cold and sweet potato fries are an extra

Since it was Mother's Day, we expected a long wait, but to our surprise, we were seated quickly. This is a large restaurant up on a hill with plenty of parking and a warm, welcoming feel. It was clean, and our greeter was kind. Our waitress was patient as we took our time deciding what to order, and we also placed a to-go order for my aunt. There was a small mix-up with the food, but it was quickly resolved with no fuss. My mom ordered the fried flounder with fries and coleslaw, and I had the same, but swapped the fries for fried okra. My husband went all out with a ribeye steak, fried scallops, fried okra, a side salad, and a bowl of clam chowder. The fish was fried perfectly--just a tad more salt would have made it ideal (though that's an easy fix), and next time I'll remember to ask for tartar sauce or hot sauce. The okra was crispy and satisfying, and the standout for my husband was the clam chowder, which I agree was rich and flavorful. More than the food, this place holds special memories for my mom, and now it holds one for me too. It's the kind of spot that becomes part of the family story. Every time we're in town, I'll be sure to take her back--for the fish, the view, and the memories.
