We got the Generals Tao chicken and it was okay. Leftovers did not get eaten though. The spring rolls were very good.

The service was fast. I made a to go order of a platter, shrimp eggs roll and chicken lo main that came with a side of fried rice. This food had absolutely NO flavor at all and the egg rolls were missing the shrimp. It was nothing but dough if you ask me. I'm new to the area and trying to find the best food with limited options but one thing I know for sure this spot did not make the list of places I'd try again. The lo main looks like ramen noodles out the pack stir fried with chicken definitely not lo main. The restaurants decor was super dated and dark. The whole place needs an update starting with the food if you ask me. A total waste of money. read more

Food and service never disappoints!! I had the Mala Trio and it was so scrumptious. My son had the Dragon Phoenix and he said it was good. We both shared the Plain Lo Mein Noodles and I ate the Dirty Rice. A great value for your money- we both took leftovers home because we were full. The restaurant is spotless and welcoming. I tried the Mala Trio and it was neither ma nor la, it really wasn't spicy at all and didn't have the signature Szechuan numbing tingling thing going on at all. It was pretty much just a brown Hunan sauce with a little bit of chili oil. Very disappointing. On the plus side they threw in a cup of crab wontons that were really good and the portion was absolutely massive. It was full of shrimp chicken and beef and tons of vegetables. While not the taste I was looking for it certainly was a good value for ten bucks. read more

I am so impressed with this Chinese restaurant. I actually did not know this place was even open due to the way the building/grounds look, but it's is open but only for take out right now due to the pandemic. Anyways, I can honestly say i will never go anywhere else. The food was amazing! I got egg rolls, general Tso's chicken and Special fried rice. It wasn't awful but there was much left to be desired. Mediocre at best. I'm pretty sure the lo mein was instant ramen. Not very good at all. The cheese wontons didn't have much filling, but they were tasty enough. The egg roll was good. My husband had general tsos & said it was good. He also agreed the cheese wontons were meh. My favorite Chinese restaurant in all my 39 years of eating Chinese! Mei Long started a staple of Chinese here in Danville and although the new owners do not have the same charisma they honor the quality of food and have maintained the excellent prices that I hope will bring them as much success and keep the doors open for my children to enjoy as much as I did. I remember playing under the booths as a toddler! My go-to dishes are beef/broccoli, beef/onions, beef/peppers/onions, chicken/broccoli with white sauce or brown, and LO-MEIN. The best lo-mein! The fried rice is great and unlike any I've eaten. The real magic is the wonton soup, egg rolls and shrimp toast! I have considered ordering the egg rolls in bulk to bring home freeze and hoard. The wonton soup is a winter must have for colds! And Julio! He's the most bubbly friendly server in Danville!!!!! Love him! read more

Nothing special here. Got the Chicken Mei Fun, a little greasy but otherwise just okay. They had a steady flow of to-go orders. The owner walked around and joked with a number of regulars and probably the reason for so many 5 star reviews. The wait staff was friendly. This place could use a little TLC. If I was in town and really craving Chinese Food, I would stop back in but otherwise no plans to return. read more

The party i was with asked the waitress if we could move to the other side of the room bc there was a birthday party going on. so we went to the other side and two tables had a reserved sign on them and not the one we sat sat. Julio came out and said why did you sit here you don't see these tables are reserved and we stated there is no sign on this table and then he rudely started picking up the silverware from the table..he kept trying to argue with us about the table being reserved although there was no sign on the table. We let the waitress kno how rude he was, not sure who could address this issue but i told the waitress i was going to leave a review. Other than this incident the one other time i've been here was alright, but his attitude completely rubbed me the wrong way. read more

My husband and I decided on this spot for date night after seeing a photo of Sapporo beer on the Google review (haha). We were pleasantly surprised! The decor is beautiful...very intimate lighting and gorgeous theme decor throughout the restaurant, making this the perfect spot for date night. Service was prompt and courteous. The food was amazing, best Chinese food we have had in Danville. The portions were huge and we were even offered a sample plate of chef's special O Neal chicken (highly recommended). So honestly, I'm slightly obsessed with this restaurant. I've been going to this place since I was a child (my mom taught Mei Lung's kid), so this is literally the taste of home for me. I've eaten at dozens and dozens of Chinese American restaurants nationally and internationally, and none are as good as Long River. Yes, the restaurant is starting to show its age (nostalgic for me, maybe not so much for you), but I promise the food is so worth it. It's just delicious. read more

I'm originally from Danville and like other reviewer ate here often under the old ownership of Mei Long. To me the food is still great. The service on today's trip was attentive and friendly. They do not have a kids menu but will do a smaller serving of any dish for around $5. I have always gotten lo mein and its unlike any I've ever had anywhere else. The noodles are very thin and the meats and veggies are plenty. My son had sweet and sour chicken and the sauce was out of this world yummy. The hubs got generals chicken and he said it was good. This place is s funky little find in an otherwise chain restaurant town. I highly recommend if you like Chinese food. read more

Not exactly the same since original owner sold and retired. Many new dishes have been added, and the old classic dishes taste a pinch different at times. On whole, place is pretty close to as it was. O'Neal Chicken has always been my favorite, try it. Staff seems very nice, hard working, and we still enjoy ourselves. Not sure if that is normal but I've never had any restaurant just bring wontons. I have no complaints! I only gave 4 stars due to our needing an upgrade. It is definitely nostalgic in there. Was in town for business so I used Yelp to find good Chinese. This had good reviews so I popped in. Wasn't real busy and didn't look so great from outside but I went in anyway. Gentleman folding napkins was super nice and told me to seat myself. I placed my order for beef and broccoli and got it quickly. It was very good! Place could use an update but was overall clean and good food, friendly staff. I will return next time in town. I gave only 4 stars due to its need of a makeover. read more

Best egg rolls I have ever had. Loved this place since I was a small child. I really miss Mei Lung and the whole Tu family. They made the place really special. What a wonderful family. Service was friendly enough, but the place was really worn out..:not on a charming way, but a neglected way. Won Ton soup was bland; dumplings pre-fab. Egg roll tasted just...."odd", with a strange filling - not egg roll. General chicken was pretty good, brown sauce good - a little over done. Fried rice was just soy'd rice, no extras. Not the cleanest restaurant. If you dine in after 8:30 pm don't expect great customer service. Booths were dirty and I had to track down someone to take my order. They looked at me like I was from Mars. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Very disappointed in our experience tonight. Food was not particularly good, very average at best. Waitresses tried very hard most likely not well trained. Laughed at the "fried rice" which appeared to be steamed white rice washed in a weak soy sauce and stirred around leaving clumps of white rice all around. Took a very long time to get acknowledged once seated then a long time for water and bar service. Just not a good experience. We will definitely not be back. read more

I love it here. The inside is decorative and the food is very good. If busy it can be a little cluttered with the close sitting but is otherwise a very comfortable environment. They have a variety of drinks, the wait-staff is attentive and funny and they always give you an abundance of food (I always need a to-go box). read more
