(4.5 stars) I had time to kill before a movie and wanted a lighter lunch. A som tam (papaya salad) fit the bill, and Thai Square had it. While I would have been satisfied if it merely fulfilled a craving, Thai Square more than exceeded expectations. From an aesthetic standpoint, this is one of the nicer Thai restaurants in the area. It's bright and clean with a wall full of ornamental plates. Though it was busy at the time of my lunchtime visit, it seemed well-run. Staff were polite and attentive, and the kitchen had no trouble keeping up with demand. The som tam with shrimp was among the best versions of this dish that I've had. From the attractive plating to the freshness to the flavors (good amount of lime, not too heavy on the fish sauce), it was satisfying across the board. It wasn't at all spicy, which would ordinarily be a red flag (white people Thai food, five-yard penalty), but in fairness, it wasn't requested as such. Provided that Thai Square can bring the heat if you ask for it, the execution here is top-notch. I don't know if the rest of Thai Square's menu compares favorably to the dish that I had, but I hope to eventually find out. For Thai fans in Greensboro, this place is definitely worth a visit. read more

Thai Square is one of my go-to date spots for Thai food in Greensboro. The restaurant is always clean, and the décor is modern, welcoming, and well-kept, making it a great place for a casual lunch or date night. It is tucked in a shopping center with a Kohl's and Sprouts.  Every time my partner and I go we feel like we find something new to admire in the décor on this visit we liked the assortment of plates on the wall. On my most recent visit, my partner and I stopped by for a daytime date and started by splitting the fresh shrimp rolls. They were light, fresh, and tasty, a perfect appetizer on a hot summer day.  I ordered the papaya salad, which was refreshing with a nice kick. It was loaded with shrimp, tomatoes, and plenty of peanuts, which added the perfect crunch. I appreciate that they don't shy away from using peanuts in their dishes where they belong, it really enhances the flavor. My partner tried a chicken dish that was plentiful and had enough for leftovers.  Service can be hit or miss getting attention to the wait staff, but the food is consistently delicious. If you can make it for lunch, I highly recommend the lunch specials. Other visits I get the Thai tea and recommend if you haven't tried it before. Between the consistently good food, friendly service, and clean atmosphere, Thai Square is a place I'll keep coming back to. read more

Enjoyed my time here for a late lunch with my son and niece. Food: everything we had was delicious except the calamari. I eat calamari at every restaurant I go to if they have it. I would not choose this appetizer again. It just did not taste good. No seasoning. It did not taste fresh. Service was okay. Nothing special. We were there during the lunch rush so we saw our server as they rushed from one table to the next. Not a lot of time to make you feel welcomed from the moment we came in to leaving. I had an amazing first experience at Thai Square! I ordered the mango fish with rice and a glass of wine, and everything was outstanding. The service was excellent, the food was absolutely delicious, and the calm, peaceful music created the perfect atmosphere. The fish was seasoned and cooked to perfection, full of flavor, while the sweet mango and the slightly spicy, sweet sauce brought the whole dish together beautifully. As someone who's vegetarian, I was somewhat disappointed with the options. The quality of the food is great, and the flavors were good. I ordered pad kee mao and the cashew nut with tofu, both of which were good. However, none of the curries or coconut milk based items could be made vegetarian. All include fish sauce. They do make many of the noodle or entrees vegetarian though. Service was great and the decor was fresh. Overall, I wouldn't return as a vegetarian. read more

I've gotten the pad Thai twice, both in which were amazing each time although I will say they were inconsistent. The second time I got pad Thai, it seemed really saucy. My family are suckers for Asian food, and while we have lived in Greensboro for the last 8 years, I hadn't tried Thai Square yet. My three year old and I decided to have a lunch date after being housebound from the snow, and we loved the food that we got! The servers were very friendly and helped us with recommendations and they were great with my toddler. The restaurant was clean and the music pleasant and everything smelled AMAZING. We ordered the chicken Tom Ka, the Kao Ob, and the shumai. The complimentary soup that came with my entree was also devoured by my three year old. We also were able to take home some leftovers. Thailand was the first country I visited in Southeast Asia. I will never forget that trip and the amazing time I had. Although I started off in Bangkok, I had a wonderful life experience of traveling all over the country. The people were so sweet, the sites were incredible and the food was out of this world and dirt cheap! I remember having huge plates of rice and fish and vegetables for $1 or $2. I wonder what it costs today? I wondered if it's still possible to get Thai food in the Greensboro without spending a million, and then I discovered Thai Square square at the Westridge shopping Center! Rabbi Amy suggested this place since it is close to Temple and since I had never been there, I thought it would be a great opportunity for another Yelp review, even if it was just a mediocre restaurant. Boy was I wrong! Thai Square is located right in the heart of the Westridge shopping Center so it is very easy to access from Battleground Avenue or Bryan Boulevard. Plenty of parking right up front and you can also get some other chores in the shopping center while you are there. I did not know what to expect when I walked in. The place looked pretty casual but welcoming! As soon as you walk in, the smells are hypnotizing and enticing! Not sure what the dinner menu looks like... maybe it's the same menu? In either case, I was pleasantly surprised with the offerings and even more pleasantly surprised at the prices. Quite reasonable considering what things are costing these days. I ordered chicken with vegetables. The plate came and it was quite hearty but with white rice. Before I even completed my sentence, the waitress knew exactly what I was going to ask her and returned shortly with brown rice which I absolutely love and is so much better for me! They won me over with that!! Very hard to find restaurants with brown rice, so I was impressed! Refills of drink were constant accompanied by subtle but welcomed checking in from time to time. It's attentive staff and a lovely conversation with Rabbi Amy coupled with this delicious plate of food made in excellent lunch and only $11. Impressive!!! I would highly recommend Thai Square next time you are looking for Asian food with a wonderful taste, wanting to brown rice, good portion and a very reasonable price. Popped into Thai square for lunch today on a whim and let me just say zero regrets. A friend and I arrived around 12:30 and it was busy but we got seated quickly. The restaurant itself is clean and decorated very well. They had their holiday decorations up and every single plate on their walls had a little red bow on it. The time and attention to detail was a good indication of what was going to happen next. We ordered the crab cakes Rangoons as our appetizer and they were stuffed with a delicious cream cheese and crab filling. They did not skimp at all. For our entrees we ordered the Panang curry with chicken and the chicken pad Thai with the intentions of trying each other's dish. Both entrees came with a delicious brothy soup. I considered getting a pint to go it was so good. Both of our dishes were 10/10. The panang curry had a rich and savory broth that had the perfect amount of kick to it. The chicken pad Thai was some of the best I have tried in a very long time. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the flavors in it were exactly what I wanted with bits of fried egg sneaking in each bite. I honestly don't know which one I liked better they were both so delicious. Every server we encountered was kind, personable, and efficient. Met over here again for work lunch. This time, I tried the panang curry which was a red curry with peas, carrots, zucchini and onions. I had the shrimp and asked for broccoli to be added. The upcharge was only $2 more, not as much as quoted which made it even better. This curry was medium spicy and very flavorful. I thought I'd have to add from the spice rack which I often do, but not this time. Just forgot to ask for brown rice to replace the white rice but still delicious non the less. Beware. I visit this restaurant often, which makes this experience even more disappointing. My wife met me for lunch with her best friend and their two young children. The children were well-behaved throughout the entire visit. The older waitress was extremely rude from the start. When my wife went to place the order, she was met with a poor attitude and was served warm tap water with no ice. The waitress repeatedly questioned our order, as if it was somehow inappropriate for our table to share several dishes and appetizers. After taking the order, she essentially disappeared and never checked on the table again. When my wife went to pay, the waitress threw the receipt at her and said, "Why would you bring your kids to lunch here? We don't allow kids." Seriously? This is a restaurant, not an exclusive private club. Even if there were a policy regarding children, there is a professional and respectful way to communicate it. The children were quiet and well-behaved, and there was absolutely no reason for such a rude comment. What makes this even worse is that I have called the restaurant 3-4 times over the past week to discuss the situation. The owner has ignored my calls and has not responded to any messages I left. The service was unprofessional, the treatment of my family was unacceptable, and the complete lack of response from management shows a disregard for customers. After coming here a few times, usually for an occasion like a birthday, I've decided I really like it. It might even by my go-to place for Thai food in Greensboro now! The atmosphere is very modern and attractive, the seats are comfortable, and the service is always attentive. A great place to meet up. As far as the food, I've tried a wide variety at this point, from their massaman curry, to simple pad thai, and up to something that was filled with seafood and thai flavors in what looked like the kind of shell that you'd normally put a taco salad in. I wish I could remember the name of it, but I have a picture of it for you! All of it has been tasty, and the portions are filling. The leftovers never disappoint either, especially anything noodle based. My favorite thing here, even though it is simple, is their fresh spring rolls. They are some of the largest around featuring multiple plump shrimp, and the peanut sauce they make is just right in my opinion. Not too thick, not too sweet, plenty of crunchy peanut chunks. I have to start every meal with an order. All in all, while I do miss my favorite place off of Mill street terribly, it's been several years since they closed, and it was time for me to move on. We happened to notice this place when headed into Sprouts and decided we should eat before going in the store hungry. Seeing through the windows it's a very pretty quaint place that was pretty full so we figured it must be good. First Thai place in Greensboro for us and we are new to the area but not to Thai. Started with the calamari which was good but heavier batter than expected. Just wanted to note that part. My partner wasn't a fan of simply due to the thick batter. The Fresh Spring Rolls were a hit! Nicely crisp and packed with ingredients! The sweet chili sauce was the perfect dipping sauce! It was delicious. We ordered the Bangkok Chicken which was delicious!!! Came with a handful of veggies and a scoop of jasmine rice. That chicken I'll get it again and my partner ate half of mine and we still brought some home. He ordered the pineapple shrimp Fried Rice which was a huge mound of rice and included cashews and some curry seasoning. It was delicious too! We had enough to bring home and he's a big eater! Service is heinous. Got fresh rolls and was not asked which kind we would like. They came out as shrimp which not everyone in our party could eat. Entrees came out missing components that were listed on the menu. Waters were left empty. By the time I was able to wave down a server my party was half finished. When I let her know about the fresh rolls (especially important for shellfish allergy) she gave a "not my problem" response. She did offer to have my entree remade but by then the rest of my party was halfway done. No other offers to correct mistakes were made. Probably the best Thai Food in Greensboro right now. Went for lunch and service was fast and easy. Lunch crowd was not too crowded and I felt comfortable. This was the 4th time we've dined here. We brought new friends that love Thai food as well. They were impressed with the decor and ambiance and excellent service as well. The first dish photographed was the Spicy catfish. This is catfish like you've never had it. I hate to call it fried, because that gives people an image and this fish being fried is not typical. It's a very clean dish with a wonderfully complex flavored sauce with a little kick. Not too spicy. Fresh peppercorns are used in this dish and the aroma and taste are supremely complex. The vegetables and rice are perfect with it. The second dish was the Massaman curry. Some of the best curry around. Flavorful and not too hot, which can ruin the dish. I had the seafood fettuccini which was out of this world. Piping hot and so full of a wonderful flavor. Dressed in a butter garlic sauce that was so light and not heavy at all. The amount of seafood was amazing and large pieces of shrimp, scallop and squid, all sautéed nicely. This was served over deliciously cooked Asian egg noodles. And all for $23! Thai Square is one of my go-to lunch places while working in Greensboro. It's located in the corner of the business park on the corner of Battleground and Westridge, next to Sprouts Market. Once you enter this beautiful restaurant, you are promptly seated by one of their staff. I have always had great experiences with customer service here and am thankful for that. They all work together to take care of their patrons. On to the food. It's delicious. Everything is delicious. I've tried the Red curry, Green curry, Massaman curry, Pad Ped, Kao Ob, and many of their Thai entrees, and was not disappointed by a single one. The lunch prices are great and pretty standard for any Thai restaurant in the area. If you're looking for another Thai restaurant to add to your list, try Thai Square. My friend and I were checked on consistently by multiple members of the staff and felt like we were well taken care of. The food was hot and delicious. We both gave a "whoa" face when it was placed on the table, because the presentation of the tea was pretty amazing. She said it tasted absolutely amazing. I ordered the ginger tea. So far in my life, this the best tea I've ever had. I drank the entire teapot. It was light, warm and had a light spicy kick. I also ordered spring rolls. The crust was flaky and the interior ingredients were cooked to perfection. We were also given a complimentary soup. First spoonful, my friend and eye both looked up at each and we both non-verbally agreed that this soup was extraordinary. My main entree was an absolute treat. The shrimp were a nice size. The vegetables were cooked just right and drowned in the best sauce. Our waitress visited our table often and when she was unable to get to us timely someone was always there to cover for her.
