a tray of sushi and rolls

This was my first time getting takeout and I love finding lunch specials that give me a bang for my buck. What's great is that they offer different types of lunch specials that are sushi specials, entree specials or combinations of sushi, entree and appetizer. You can order something that satisfies all of your cravings, at a great price. I ordered the 3 roll sushi lunch and I was very pleased. The sushi was fresh and the rice was made correctly. It wasn't hard or sweet. The sushi was just perfect. We also ordered the lunch special that allowed an entree and appetizer (opted for chicken teriyaki and gyoza). The presentation was just the cutest. Very well packaged and nice to look at. You do eat with your eyes first, after all. I would say my only complaint would be the lunch sushi roll selection. This spot has a huge selection of rolls and only a few of them are offered on the lunch menu. I would have loved to have gotten different rolls. But other than that, everything was excellent. Really good quality food.

$47?! Shumai (6pcs) Gyoza (6pcs) House Maki (8pcs). Rice was perfectly cooked. Maki rolls very skinny. The gyoza was tough and tasted like it may have been frozen. On the upside, the sweet potato maki roll was very tasty. All in all, a $22 meal for $47 therefore lost two stars.

Had some sushi after dropping off my brother at Vassar. First time I've ever had a receipt with the suggested tip amount circled or maybe I just noticed this one because I watched a "What would you do" on restaurants discriminating against people of color. But than again, I'm also a young customer with my brother; a college student. And would also assume that maybe the reason the waiter was doing this was because students or customers in general that go to the restaurant have not tipped or at least not well. Either way, I found the practice to be rude and offensive.

I've been to Tokyo Express plenty of times for dinner, but recently I went for lunch. Unlike other sushi restaurants that have lunch specials (x amount of rolls for x dollars), they just give you the dinner menu-- so this can be a very expensive choice for lunch. I went with their three course deal for $15, but it's the same deal they have for dinner. It's less than what I would pay for most of their sushi bar entrees, but more than lunch specials at other restaurants I've been to. Thankfully the sushi itself at Tokyo Express is delicious, but I'd prefer to come here for dinner from now on.

Oh lord where do I begin. If you want to get your fix sushi this is the place, almost everything I had tried is delicious I usually get the Thai roll which has mango on top and is awesome. The location is a bit hidden and a bit small in my opinion which is why they are able to have fresh ingredients and you can see it and taste it. The owner is a nice lady who's always greeting the customers as they came in. They have a sushi bar where you can see how they make your sushi which is always fascinating to see. Their tempura banana is to die for and also the fried cream cheese . Their downside is that it could be very expensive but for the quality you get is worth it.

Great sushi place.... Pokipc has a lot of them, but this is def one of the best.... The volcano roll is out of this world.... It's a fried roll with spicy crab on top.... If you have a local discount card, you can get a free California roll with a $15 purchase.... Lunch specials are the usual fare - 2 or 3 rolls with miso soup android salad..... Overall I highly recommend!!!

Not impressed, I ordered the rainbow roll with the cucumber wrap because I don't do rice well anymore. It was soggy.

This is the northernmost of three Bonsai locations in the area, located in a busy shopping/business/medical area on Route 9. Parking is ample in the giant shared lot, and seating is easy to come by outside of business lunch hours (M-F 12-1PM). In warmer weather, they also offer a nice outdoor seating area. In the middle of Poughkeepsie, am I looking for Michelin-grade sushi? Not really. I'm looking for fresh fish, vibrant color, and well cooked/seasoned rice. Clean presentation, decent prices. Does Bonsai offer this? Absolutely. On top of that, they have a great lunch special menu. It gets busy during the M-F lunch rush, so I like to order ahead or online for take out, or get there a bit earlier/later if I'm dining in.

Bonsai has been my go-to sushi spot for years, and it never disappoints…read more The fish is always fresh, the flavors are spot on, and the quality is consistently excellent. I have pretty high standards when it comes to sushi, and Bonsai easily meets (and often exceeds) them every time. Their lunch special is an unbeatable deal -- for just $13 you get soup, salad, and three rolls. It's generous, delicious, and always satisfying. Whether dining in or grabbing takeout, Bonsai is one of those local spots that makes you feel lucky to have it nearby.

Very light, hot and crispy. Pork ramen. Same as above. Pork was fair at best. Very fatty but tender. And what's with the corn in the ramen. That's for a cup of noodle. I was so happy to see Dimsum on the menu until I saw the prices! Way more expensive than what you get in the city! So I opted for the seafood ramen lunch special for $17 which came with a choice of 2 sides. Service was quick. The place was clean with a lot of tables. I read some of the reviews before coming here and they were right, the broth was not hot enough and was a little bland. So I was very disappointed. I decided to try their sesame balls despite the price - $8.49 for 2 pieces since I was already here hoping that would make it better. Unfortunately it also missed the mark. I saw other people order noodle dish and fried rice and left with clean plates - maybe those taste better. I really hoped this place would be good.

I got the soup dumplings which had a lack of depth. The broth had very little pork flavor and the fried shrimp dumplings were mostly filled with cabbage. I had to use a lot of soy sauce and chili oil because they were bland. The desserts are relatively small but my yuzu cheesecake had a WONDERFUL flavor. Very full of yuzu flavor.
