Went to Tokyo Bleu with some friends before Thanksgiving. Went in around lunch time and they do a big take out business so there was very few people in the dining room. It is an old home converted to a restaurant so the decor reflects a home and is very cozy. The service was friendly and the food comes out so fast. I have driven past this place for years but never stopped in. Today, I rectified that and ordered takeout. The sushi was super fresh and tasty. I got a Boston roll, a Philadelphia roll, and a Spicy Shrimp with Mango Roll. They were all good, but the mango one was excellent. Beautiful and delicate sushi. We drive 30 mins to get here and have never had a bad meal. For those that are particular about the quality of the sushi and cuts of fish, rest assured Tokyo Bleu is on point. The outside of the restaurant is a bit rough around the edges, but along the lines of - don't judge a book by its cover. Friendly wait staff. Enthusiastic sushi chefs and also a full kitchen menu for those raw adverse. We've been coming here for 10 years and will settle for nothing less. Review for sushi take-out, on a Thu: I was in the area and wanted to try this place for the first time and ended up disappointed / threw out 2/3 rolls. I always start off with the awesomely flavorful mushroom soup. Edamame is served hot and salted, as it should be. Rolls are plump, fresh tasting and high quality. It is a BYOB too which helps with the tab. They will turn on the fireplace if asked. We always ask for the front room, not the brightly lit blue room. We were having a problem with a newer waitress who kind of hovered over us like a hawk, rushing around and removing plates quickly. I was told that is the practice in China, but not here. Makes one feel rushed. She settled down now and is a great server. This is our go-to sushi restaurant and is better than the one down the street in the shopping center. As a loyal customer and fellow business owner, I was disappointed after spending $50 on a to-go order during a 110° day and being denied a few slices of orange and pineapple. Small gestures matter, and sometimes saving a few cents can cost you a long-term customer. Portion sizes for the sushi platters have also gotten noticeably smaller. I ordered chirashi and seaweed salad and it was ready for pickup within 30 min! And listen, it's Cinnaminson I know it's not gonna be Morimoto grade but it fulfilled my craving and was fresh! Authentic and delicious sushi. It's a bit of a drive for us so we don't go here often but we would be in big trouble if we lived closer. Everything we've had here has been fresh and delicious and the prices are on par with similar restaurants. However, the quality here is on a higher level than most. I highly recommend the Black Jack Roll...spicy tuna, shrimp tempura and avocado underneath black caviar touched with chili paste & chef's special sauce. I ordered a California roll, requested a hand roll, but got a regular roll. No big deal but I was disappointed. The avocado was so mushy and the roll was very small. Overall just an average roll. Service was fine, the place has a strange layout when you walk in but again no big deal. I also got the spring roll and the seaweed salad, salad was good but again with the spring roll it was just small and overall very unimpressive. Decided to get take out from here for a sushi dinner and the food was much better than when we dined it the previous time. The food was surprisingly ready in only 10 minutes. The sushi was great! Tasted fresh and a bigger portion of fish compared to rice. Also the tempura was surprisingly still crunchy after sitting in the container for 10 minutes during the car ride home. Every person I've introduced it to has become a new regular as well. Every time I've eaten in the restaurant, so many of the clientele knows the waiters and chefs by name, enforcing that you won't go anywhere again for sushi after going here. Yummy food! 5 rolls ready for pick up in 29 mins on a Sunday night. Phone order was super quick and easy and the staff was very friendly when I went to pick up the food. I would recommend some of the basic rolls to really taste the fish as that is what should be appreciated with sushi. The parking lot is spacious and the pick up location is very easy to find. Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday around 1:30 and there weren't many people in the restaurant. They don't have lunch specials on the weekend but the prices were still very reasonable. Everything was fresh and delicious. Especially enjoyed the tempura appetizer which came with 2 shrimp and assorted vegetables, very light and delicious. Honest review. My wife and I have been wanting to come here for a while. We got waters and soda. The soda was flat. Next we ordered calamari. It came with maybe 6 small overcooked pieces. Our salads came out, they were drenched with water. We got the teriyaki lunch special. It was bland, no seasoning, just sauce. Even the sushi the lunch special came with was bland. My sister in law unexpectedly brought me two of their rolls on a recent visit... salmon avocado and a California roll... simple enough... WOW. I've had many rolls in my day.. these were just sorta perfect. I'm not certain how they made such an uneventful roll so friggin tasty. They were fresh and delicious.. almost had a sweet after taste. I love this sushi! Their food is always so fresh. They have really yummy inexpensive rolls and their specialty rolls are so flavorful and well balanced. The favorites in my house are the cinnaminson roll, the sweetheart roll, the spicy shrimp and mango roll, and the tempura maki.
