[3.5 Stars] My party of 4 and I came here on a whim since it was snowing, and the place we wanted to go to was take out only. It was super quiet and warm, so we opted in. I'm also gluten free and I trust Japanese food to be gluten free sans soy sauce. Overall, not bad. Price wise, it was decent especially for lunch specials, but still higher than what I'm used to (you're on a Main Street, so that's expected). As appetizers, you get a salad and soup as usual for lunch specials. The miso soup was quite salty in my opinion and had to make up by drinking lots of water (whew!) The salad dressing tasted different than Japanese house dressings that I'm used to (could be a good thing could be a bad thing depending if you like the typical or not?) I got the sashimi lunch, which wasn't bad at all. They gave a good amount, and the fish tasted fresh, but the rice ratio to fish was wildly unbalanced. They gave what seemed like 2 cups of rice. Again, could be a good thing could be a bad thing depending on what you're looking for. I'm not keto, but I do better on low carb so it was pretty tempting to eat all the rice. We were the only ones there, so service was pretty good. I will say, the lady serving us didn't seem so happy at her job which is always a turn off for me, but I wish her the best. This place is a great deal for lunch specials! You get both a soup and a salad which is rare nowadays. I ordered a salmon avocado roll and a tuna roll. I was surprised with how neatly the rolls were made. My boyfriend ordered the sushi lunch, and the nigiri had such large meaty slices of fish. Usually places skimp on the fish but this restaurant doesn't at all. I really wished I lived in downtown haddonfield because this would definitely be a regular spot for me. read more

Happy to see a sushi joint on near the main intersection of Kings Highway and Haddon Ave to bring a bit more variety to the Haddonfield downtown. I had visited the fancier, hidden Fuji down the road before but excited to see a familiar joint that I had tried in Moorestown. Megu is a very small local South Jersey chain that makes slightly upscale sushi. I rank it above all-you-can-eat/cheaper sushi with questionably fresh fish but below a very upscale/fancy Japanese establishment like a Morimoto. Perfect for the area. I came with some friends on a Saturday night and ordered a sushi deluxe set. The sushi comes with miso soup and salad to start your meal. It's your typical "salad" with that generic Asian style dressing and, sadly, lukewarm miso soup. It was alright but nothing too spectacular about the starters. My sushi deluxe set was divine! I had 10 pieces of sushi and a tuna hand roll that filled me up quite nicely. They have nice cuts of fish and everything worked out quite well. My one gripe is that there were a few flies that kept bothering me during the meal but this was some solid sushi. I was quite happy with my meal and I would like to return in the future! They have some nicely priced lunch specials that span from Monday through Saturday (yes you read that correctly). BYOB. Parking is free after 6pm everyday and on weekends in Haddonfield. read more

Today was my first time going to Megu in Haddonfield. If you are looking for a quiet place to sit down and eat sushi this is it. The staff is polite and quick. The rolls were pretty large as well. The only thing I wasn't happy about was the fact my glass was dirty. The rim of the glass had an unknown substance on it... good thing I had brought a water bottle. read more

Came here on a Friday night! Salmon teriyaki came with miso soup, and salad. The salmon teriyaki and white rice was the usual with same flavors. The portion size was smaller than I would have liked but it was fine. The rice was a bit hard. The other guest got a California roll that was also the usual, nothing wonderful. No chips. No tea for the table. Nothing special. Just ok. read more

We opted to come here when I realized my favorite spot -Fuji- is closed on Mondays. Not a bad place for sushi. However, they forget things that most sushi places do not. In our experience, they forgot the wasabi and ginger. They also forgot to leave the sauce off the sushi like I had asked for. The chicken tempura is supposed to come with chicken and vegetables and all we got was a mountain of chicken. I'll give them four stars even if it's really a 3/3.5 because I want them to stick around, especially for Mondays. read more

When I walked in to order my take out the whole placed smelled like bad fish. That should have been my first red flag. I ordered gyoza which was delicious and the hostess who had my food ready was very nice. Everything else was terrible. First of all, they don't do the discount on Sundays and Mondays like the other Megu and their prices are way over the top. Secondly I was charged a convenience fee of $1.50! What convenience ? I had to go pick it up myself and parking for this place is anything BUT convenient. I ordered a kani salad which is pretty basic and the crab tasted old and bad. Compared to the several other sushi restaurants in the area, I found this place to be average. I chose the restaurant because I thought I remembered there being outside seating, but the tables belonged to the Italian restaurant next door. The inside is bright but otherwise ordinary. I ordered a few simple rolls (tuna, salmon, rainbow) for lunch. The rolls arrived very quickly, almost seemed too quick based on experience, and appeared very loosely wrapped. I normally love the presentation as much as the meal, but this was just meh. Otherwise, the flavors were good and the service very friendly and attentive. For me, it just comes down to being fortunate that we have so many great sushi places in our area that the bar is set pretty high. read more

To me, I'm a bit indifferent, just another Japanese restaurant with the same list of items, sushi, teriyaki, etc. just a bit more polished for the demographic of the town, compared to Little Tokyo a few blocks away. And the waitress at the time, a little lukewarm. This is Haddonfield's third sushi restaurant, and it sits between Fuji (upper scale) and Little Tokyo. If I'm looking to grab a lunch I'll split between Megu or Little Tokyo. A special night out, definitely Fuji, I just wish they were more flexible with their Omakase. So take that for what it is. read more

We got take out and it was horrible. I very rarely have an issue with a restaurant and take it as it is for the most part but we got "chicken" lettuce wraps and it was ALL onions and inedible. Sushi was cut sloppy, very small and falling apart. The only good part was the Kani salad. Just very disappointing. read more

This place is fantastic - they are firing on all cylinders. The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. Three of us had sushi and were pleased while my wife liked her "dinner box" (teriyaki, tempura and shu mai.) The dining room is really attractive and service was good too. I'll start with the positive, they did a nice job renovating before they moved in. Now for the rest. This was some of the worst sushi I have ever had. I got the spicy girl roll which was supposed to be spicy tuna, spicy salmon, spicy yellowtail and avocado. I'm not sure what was actually inside as it was a non descriptive mush accompanied by rice and tobiko that appeared to be rehydrated. Seaweed salad was ok. Yellowtail with jalapeños was cut way too thick and didn't have much flavor. My fiancé's noodles were served in a puddle. We paid with cash and although an $8 tip was sufficient the waitress gave us $10 back and would not come back to the table to make change. I hope she enjoys her extra $2 because we will not be back. Bonus I've had terrible indigestion for a good 12hrs since we ate there. If you want affordable sushi go down the street to Little Tokyo. read more

Sushi is about the rice. And the rice was dry. It seemed stale. The salmon was not cut properly either. White and grey on one whole side of it. Proper sushi would not have that. The fish was fresh, but the tuna was odd. Not what I'm used to having had eaten sushi all over the country for the last 30 years. I had high hopes for this place as I am a frequent visitor to the Megu in Cherry Hill. Disappointing. Please note that they do not do the 30% off sushi/sushi rolls on Sundays and Mondays, which was very surprising to me. I've been a long time customer at the Cherry Hill location, and kept going back because of their extremely fresh sushi, reasonable prices and big menu! As soon as I saw a Haddonfield location opened, I went, and was not disappointed. The ambience isn't the best, but the food was phenomenal as usual. Their presentation is always great! My second time there, considerably worse than the first visit. The miso soup served to me and my family was not just lukewarm, but nearly cold. Just unacceptable. The salmon in salmon teriyaki box tasted slightly fishy and was way over cooked. Nowhere close to with the $21 i was charged. Throughout the meal I also heard a microwave being used in the kitchen, never a good sign. Not sure I will feel compelled to go back especially with a much better place (though pricier) across the street at Fuji. read more
