We came on down during road trip to college and stopped here along the way. It's a relatively tiny store with about 8 tables. We ordered AYCE (all you can eat) sushi which was $25.95 per person which was AMAZING. Basically you order rolls to eat (also had appetizers and soup) and they make it fresh (which definitely added some wait time) but that meant the sushi came out fresh and warm for some specific rolls. FYI you should aim to eat everything as they charge for leftovers. The AYCE menu had a great selection and it was a great meal for such a good price! We were also very lucky cuz we were the only people in there at lunch time so we only waited like 15-20 minutes in between orders of around 4 rolls (8-10 pieces). Amazing, the sushi is so good. So let's be real, I am a sushi connoisseur. I've tried so many places in south jersey and this is hands down the BEST takeout/delivery sushi I've had. They don't do a good job at spicy tuna/shrimp/salmon, etc. due to excess crunch and minimal meat. It was hard to get through the roll, to be honest. The traditional rolls were good. I've been to Watami Sushi for take-out only, but I do know they offer All You Can Eat. Watami Sushi prices are definitely reasonable and more so on the cheaper side in terms of their special rolls. Whenever I go there, the employees are always really nice and patient. Sometimes, they will throw in a free soda now and then! They must have noticed after a few times that I am a big fan of eel and so they had recommended me to try one of their monthly specials for that month. They informed me that on their website, they have new monthly specials that they offer. If you go to their website, it'll just give you the name of the roll but if you click "Order Online," it will tell you what is in each monthly special roll. To name some sushi, I have tried the Dragon Roll, Crazy Tuna Roll, Black Dragon Roll, Sea Lion Roll, Eel Avocado Roll, White Tuna Roll, and Shrimp Tempura Roll. Some are hits and misses but I particularly enjoyed the Black Dragon Roll. The Spicy Kani Salad was okay, a little more mayo heavy than I would have liked. I have tried a customized poke bowl. I dove into my spicy tuna roll and salmon avocado roll. I mean, i know this is strip mall sushi, so i didnt get my hopes tooo high. But ive had better strip mall sushi. The quality and texture of the tuna just tasted processed. There was like no spicy mayo. No spice at all. Very dry. Lack of flavor. The salmon avocado roll was ok but nothing special. The salmon tasted low quality and the avocado made up about 50% of the roll which is more than most places. The soup was ok. Hard to mess up Miso. This place is a hidden gem. I wanted some sushi and I saw this Watami was on the ride home so I stopped. What a great surprise, I picked up a menu and it was $26 for all you can eat. I had a Kano salad 3 rolls and 6pc of yellowtail. All exceptional quality both fish and rice. Be warned the rolls are enormous!! I am really not one to order takeout, but after a long day at work I was craving sushi. I took to yelp with the hopes of finding somewhere with good sushi that was also nearby and inexpensive. Watami drew me in with the promise of 50% off rolls...most traditional rolls (8 pieces) are $3. That really can't be beat so I placed an order for a philadelphia roll, spicy tuna roll and Kani salad which came to $12. The ordering process was extremely smooth and quick. Watami was very clean and inviting--I would even say that it would be a nice place to dine in. The sushi itself was fresh and flavorful. I especially enjoyed my spicy tuna roll. The Kani salad was another winner, with fresh cucumber slices and imitation crab. It was a bit spicy though, so be careful if you don't like that. #1 - The staff were EXTREMELY friendly, welcoming, and hospitable! After my order was ready I was curious as to what the Sushi chef was making, and he said it was a Sushi pizza. He said he was starving and was making it for his dinner. He then put half in a box, free of charge, and told me to try it and give some to my wife. It was spectacular. #2 - The flavors in our hibachi and noodle bowl we're exquisite! I have had some bland Miso soup over the years, yet Watamis had an excellent smokey flavor to it, as did the hibachi rice. It was very refreshing. I've been yearning to once again experience a dine-in all you can eat sushi/Japanese experience and decided to try Watami today. Overall, the $22.95 AYCE was undistinguished, with some items significantly under par, I'm sorry to say. There's nothing enticing me to return. I'd say the service was better than the food or environment (it's basically a carryout ambience with about 8 tables). Under par was the clear soup (no mushroom slices, the dried bits seemed stale), the tempura appetizers (breading leaden, shrimp texture unappealing, absent traditional dipping broth), and the rice for the sushi. The sushi "goodies" were OK but not scrumptious (but the environment may have negatively influenced the appeal). (My choices were traditional classic options, no fancy rolls.) The soy sauce in the table flasks was notably light colored and lacking flavor. Neither hot tea (nor any other beverage) is included. Watami will not serve tap water, but offered a bottled water gratis when I asked. First time here; closer than Cherry Hill alternatives, so I'd had my hopes up. I do so wish places other than diners in Gloucester County would reopen for (safety-observant) indoor dining. read more

So many places give miso soup that looks like dirty dishwater...not the case here. The soup broth had great taste, color and was perfect on a cold night. Spicy rolls tuna/salmon/yellowtail were all tasty. Love they are 8 pieces and have sesame seeds on them. Similar with the salmon avocado Pink lady was great and worth the $$$ Rainbow roll was the only one that we didnt love as some of the nigri on top wasn't as flavorful as we had hoped. I do not like posting negative reviews but I'm doing this with hopes to possibly help someone else avoid what I went through. Got a bad GI issue after getting my dinner from here. Full body sweat and the works. Thankfully it did not linger. Even the time before that, I had more minor GI issues but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Some fresh items on the menu such as the Watami ball which was tasty. Most of us had sushi which was fresh and delicious. A couple had fried rice or tempura and it was excellent.
