    AYCE specialty sushi roll
    Julie W.

We came on down during road trip to college and stopped here along the way. It's a relatively tiny store with about 8 tables. We ordered AYCE (all you can eat) sushi which was $25.95 per person which was AMAZING. Basically you order rolls to eat (also had appetizers and soup) and they make it fresh (which definitely added some wait time) but that meant the sushi came out fresh and warm for some specific rolls. FYI you should aim to eat everything as they charge for leftovers. The AYCE menu had a great selection and it was a great meal for such a good price! We were also very lucky cuz we were the only people in there at lunch time so we only waited like 15-20 minutes in between orders of around 4 rolls (8-10 pieces). Attached below are picture of every roll we ate between four people.

Amazing, the sushi is so good. So let's be real, I am a sushi connoisseur. I've tried so many places in south jersey and this is hands down the BEST takeout/delivery sushi I've had. For the price the rolls are huge, I literally have to unhinge my jaw to eat a piece lol. This place hits quality and quantity all in one. Most places I try multiple times to tell whether it's actually good and after having this sushi 5 times in the past 2 weeks I can say it's solid. Love it don't skip out on it. You won't regret it

Great AYCE sushi. Amazing gyoza. Great price and good amount of selection. Price is the same for lunch and dinner.

Top: Sweet Potato and Spicy Shrimp Middle: Spicy Crispy Salmon Bottom: Godzilla

We went for all you can eat and were the only people there. That made the service speedy, which was nice. Today is 79 degrees outside with a breeze, but it was very warm in the restaurant which we didn't appreciate, but it wasn't terrible. The Godzilla roll is fried, which we were looking forward to, but it was very greasy and unappetizing. They don't do a good job at spicy tuna/shrimp/salmon, etc. due to excess crunch and minimal meat. It was hard to get through the roll, to be honest. The traditional rolls were good. We ordered tuna avocado and yellowtail. Fresh fish and yummy. No complaints there. Overall I am putting a three because my best friend gave it a 4 and I gave it a 2.5. Hope this helps!

Dry tuna and little salmon pieces

I ordered lunch special with 2 rolls and a soup. The girl on the phone was very friendly. Everything was packaged up nicely for takeout. No complaints yet. I dove into my spicy tuna roll and salmon avocado roll. I mean, i know this is strip mall sushi, so i didnt get my hopes tooo high. But ive had better strip mall sushi. The quality and texture of the tuna just tasted processed. There was like no spicy mayo. No spice at all. Very dry. Lack of flavor. The salmon avocado roll was ok but nothing special. The salmon tasted low quality and the avocado made up about 50% of the roll which is more than most places. The soup was ok. Hard to mess up Miso. I want this place to succeed because they are friendly and small business. But man they gotta improve their rolls.

I've been to Watami Sushi for take-out only, but I do know they offer All You Can Eat. Watami Sushi prices are definitely reasonable and more so on the cheaper side in terms of their special rolls. Whenever I go there, the employees are always really nice and patient. Sometimes, they will throw in a free soda now and then! They must have noticed after a few times that I am a big fan of eel and so they had recommended me to try one of their monthly specials for that month. They informed me that on their website, they have new monthly specials that they offer. If you go to their website, it'll just give you the name of the roll but if you click "Order Online," it will tell you what is in each monthly special roll. To name some sushi, I have tried the Dragon Roll, Crazy Tuna Roll, Black Dragon Roll, Sea Lion Roll, Eel Avocado Roll, White Tuna Roll, and Shrimp Tempura Roll. Some are hits and misses but I particularly enjoyed the Black Dragon Roll. The Spicy Kani Salad was okay, a little more mayo heavy than I would have liked. I have tried a customized poke bowl. They were a bit skimpy on the proteins. It's a good place to try if you want some quick, affordable sushi. Parking is easy. 3.5/5

Incredible AYCE sushi. The owners are amazing. Very nice. It's a true hidden gem. I wouldn't believe the sushi was incredible either but it is. I'd take this over Tomo/Umi and for AYCE $30/person is incredible

My fiancé and I tried Watami for the first time today and it was delicious! Great prices and everything tasted very fresh. The sushi was so good! We have found our new sushi spot :)

It was my first time ordering from here as they weren't too far from me. I was in the mood for sushi! I was very impressed with their menu options because there is a lot to choose from aside from sushi. They had their specialty sushi's on sale at that time too (50% off I believe). We decided to order in advance and do pick up since we were on the road. It was Mother's Day so I imagined all of the restaurants were going to be busy with many orders. When I called, I was told it was going to be an hour wait - it ended up being over 2 hours!! I was a bit disappointed that it took THAT long but I also understand that we are all quarantined, they are super busy and short-staffed. Food was delicious though and the hibachi dinner was just perfect. I will definitely go back!

First time ordering from here and I've been dying for sushi. I was very excited to see they had Poke. Everything was very good. I was pleasantly surprised when they called to update me that my food was ready but Grubhub was taking longer than expected to locate a driver. I will be ordering from here again.

Watami is an excellent new sushi place in the heart of Barrington. I saw a flyer, with Grand Opening, and decided to try it. I am a huge sushi lover and always want to find new places to try. Watami was offering 50% off sushi rolls! They did not disappoint. The service is friendly and the food is amazing. Everything is fresh, they have options I have never had before, like the Sexy Jalapeño, and their prices are reasonable, even without the 50% off. Please give them a shot, you will be very glad you did. They are new, so I have never had to wait for a table or wait for my take out. It's very small inside, so small groups are recommended or take out. Service and friendliness of staff is important to me, and Watami gets five stars in this area as well.

Unfortunately my complete meal was not as complementary. My plates certainly looked great but the rice in both my entrees was not properly prepared and seasoned. The seaweed used for my roll was not crisp meaning it was either not toasted or stored properly before service to account for the humidity. The bed of rice in my Chirashi was lightly seasoned with furikake seaweed but that hardly made a difference. It was still under seasoned. The sliced fish in my chirashi was fresh, but there wasn't any difference in taste from piece to piece. No amount of soy sauce or wasabi was going to enhance my chirashi. My experience certainly did not lay claim to a "best ever" designation and I've had my share of great sushi.

As with many restaurants, they seem to be prioritizing take out over customers with reservations. We had to wade through a scrum of delivery orders and pickup, after which we could finally advance to the hostess. After a short wait, the two of us were seated. Service was polite, if a little slow. While we were promptly given menus, we had to flag down the waitress to give our orders. We ordered a number of appetizers to share which were very good and served within a reasonable time. Unfortunately, we did not have any plates and it took 5 minutes to again flag down a waitress to get some. We were then presented with 2 plates that looked like they came from a NJ diner, heavy, cheap, generic ceramic. Our nigiri arrived and saved the day. The restaurant has a wider selection than many places in the area including "reasonably priced" o-toro. The fish was fresh, firm and very good. One thing that was lacking was any artistic presentation of the fish. It was nigiri, wasabi, and ginger. Overall, I enjoyed the food, but the overall restaurant experience was lacking. I will be back however.

Our absolute favorite is the chirashi bowl, so fresh and delicious. We always eat it wrapped in nori (seaweed), which makes it even better. Sagami sits in that in-between category where it is not disappointing, but it is not particularly elevated either. The seating and overall atmosphere were "eh" at best; I was expecting a more authentic Japanese vibe, but what I experienced felt closer to a standard college night out with friends rather than an immersive dining environment. If your expectation is a full cultural or refined Asian dining experience, this is probably not the place to aim for. However, if you are simply in the mood for solid Japanese food without focusing too much on ambiance or presentation, it does the job adequately. To be clear, it is not a low-quality restaurant. It just does not reach into the higher-end category either. It comfortably lives in the middle, which is exactly what this rating reflects.

I'm also gluten free and I trust Japanese food to be gluten free sans soy sauce. Overall, not bad. Price wise, it was decent especially for lunch specials, but still higher than what I'm used to (you're on a Main Street, so that's expected). As appetizers, you get a salad and soup as usual for lunch specials. The miso soup was quite salty in my opinion and had to make up by drinking lots of water (whew!) The salad dressing tasted different than Japanese house dressings that I'm used to (could be a good thing could be a bad thing depending if you like the typical or not?) I got the sashimi lunch, which wasn't bad at all. They gave a good amount, and the fish tasted fresh, but the rice ratio to fish was wildly unbalanced. They gave what seemed like 2 cups of rice. Again, could be a good thing could be a bad thing depending on what you're looking for. I'm not keto, but I do better on low carb so it was pretty tempting to eat all the rice. We were the only ones there, so service was pretty good. I will say, the lady serving us didn't seem so happy at her job which is always a turn off for me, but I wish her the best. Note: if it's cold and snowy outside, be sure to close both doors behind you. We got yelled at because we didn't ensure the door closed all the way (sorry!)
