Straightforward one- or two-day rush job. Before I could explain what I needed, I was asked when I needed it by. I said within a day or two. The answer was a flat "no" - matter-of-fact, no counter-offer, no explanation. The shop was empty. The whole interaction lasted maybe 30 seconds. I would have gladly paid a significant rush premium, but there was no opening to even ask. Photos on their Yelp page show rush pricing posted on Post-it notes inside the shop, so the service appears to exist - it just wasn't on offer that day, for reasons I wasn't told. Reading other reviews, this seems to be a pattern rather than a one-off bad day, so don't bother with this business if you need alterations completed in a rush. Heads up: this isn't a standalone storefront, just a room inside a hair salon. I found another tailor in Cathedral City who took care of both items without issue - see my other review. After going to several alteration shops around Palm Springs and never being completely satisfied, I finally found "the one." I stumbled upon their shop just driving along CA-111, and wow--what a find. They are incredibly detail-oriented and really take the time to understand what you want. I brought in several vintage pieces, and when I got them back, I felt like I had a whole new wardrobe. Everything fit beautifully and made me feel so confident. We picked up my sons blazer and OMGOODNESS... that miracle we were praying for... well they did it. They pulled off a miracle on a 41-42 R and fitted it down to 38 S in 3 days!!!! Ill never go anywhere else to get alterations. Ever. They saved me an extra $150+ on having to buy a new blazer! I cant even believe it. Thank you guys so much!!!! Many places have come and gone in this shopping center, but this store has been in the same spot for at least 22 years that I am aware of. The first time I came here was to get fitted for a brides maids dress - 22 years ago. They did an amazing job fitting my dress. The dressmaker also told me that chiffon around the dress could be snipped off at the treads so i can wear it as a regular dress after the wedding, which I did! I was on vacation and found myself needing two formal dresses altered at the last minute…read more These weren't simple alterations either--both dresses were covered in rhinestones and hand-sewn pearls and were two sizes too big. Gume had to remove zippers, carefully take off rhinestones and pearls by hand, resize the dresses, and then put everything back together perfectly. It was an enormous amount of detailed work, and somehow she completed it all in just three days! The quality of her work is absolutely incredible. My dresses fit beautifully, and you would never know how much had to be altered. Beyond her talent, Gume is one of the kindest, friendliest, and most honest people I've met. Her prices were more than fair, especially considering the amount of labor and skill involved. I am beyond grateful for her help and would recommend her 1,000 times over.
